I used to be a weekly regular. I don’t know what happened. The last three visits have been so bad. I have given up. I know all the managers. It’s sad that the cooks could not make biscuits done.

Great evening for dinner. Server was fun and knowledgable. The food was served fresh and hot. With a big group the staff was very accommodating. Hot fudge cake was on point! Great experience

First let me start off by saying the last time we hit the breakfast buffet at Shoney’s in Chester, about six months or so ago, it was very good and no complaints. Today however was a different matter. First, there was hardly anyone in the restaurant. When you get seated in a almost empty restaurant and plenty of empty tables and booths, the customary way to seat someone is not seat them right next to someone else. We got seated at a booth right in front of a lady who was yelling on her cell phone the entire time and complaining about this and that all during our meal. using the ‘B’ word multiple times. I so came close to turning around and asking her to please make her call later when the entire restaurant couldn’t hear her. This is where the manager should be walking around asking if everything thing is okay, Maybe even posting a sign asking people to not scream into their cell phones while inside. I commented to the hostess when we paid that the lady behind us was on her cell the entire time complaining and using the B word and she didn’t apologize or say anything. Next, the buffet, They have changed the bacon to something that looks like small strips of burnt shingle. It no longer resembles the bacon I am used to seeing at Shoney’s. They have changed the hash browns to CHEESY hash browns. What if I don’t like cheese in my hash browns? My daughter got a mini doughnut that was frozen in the middle. The service was good, other than the hostess sitting us next to Miss Foul Mouth. All in all, I don’t think we will be back anytime soon.

I love this place because it never seems to let me down. They always have great options on their breakfast and dinner buffets. You always leave stuffed for a great value.

Tried the seafood buffet. The stuffed crabs were terrible. The filing does not tastes like crab, more like a stuffing with vegetables. Fried oysters were really good as was the steamed shrimp. The collard greens were cooked fresh. No real desert on the buffet, though, only some pudding and fruit. It is reasonably priced and would probably try it again.

Shoney’s I’ve eaten here in the evening’s only so I can’t say nothing for there breakfast. I really don’t care to eat at Shoney’s the food is tasteless and luke warm off the buffet. That usually what I get is on the buffet so I have more choices of food. And the reason I come here is my wife and grandkids ask to eat here so I oblige. But there is a bright side they do have some good sweet tea and deserts. And the the price ain’t all that bad either, so there’s my thought’s in a nut shell take it or leave it.

First time here and we went to check it out for a breakfast. We did the buffet instead of the traditional menu items. They had everything you could want in a brunch buffet. One side was salads(who eats salads for a Sunday brunch though?)-lettuce, spinich, onions, hard boiled eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms, etc.; the other fruits-strawberries, cantaloupe, honeydew, pineapple, peaches(it looked like home cooked fresh peaches and it was delicious!), mini muffins, yogurt, cottage cheese, whipped cream, strawberry sauce; Traditional breakfast section-scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, grits(gotta love the South!), biscuit, gravy, cheese sauce(like the kind you would pump on your chips at a convenient store… gross), sauteed mushroom(yum!), corned beef hash, cooked apple cinnamon; Pancakes & French Toast bar-fried french toast sticks(?), syrup, berry syrup; Other Items-Fried Chicken(yup, this gotta be the South thing), fried rice, scrambled eggs with peppers, sausage patties(looked kinda dry)… Wonderful selections of breakfast/lunch items! They have tiny plates though so you would have to go back multiple times. I did! French Toast with apple cinnamon & those yummilicious peaches with whipped cream were heavenly! Now I lay in food coma, I will dream of going back another fine Sunday :)
