Yummy! After concerts I come here with my friends and family and enjoy a nice scoop of ice cream! Many flavors and lots of candy, like their famous mints!

Great home made ice cream. Only down side, small shop with standing room only. Not inviting to stay on as it is so small and cramped. Wish we had a real sit down ice cream place in chico. Froyo is not ice cream. This place would be the best with places to rest other than outside. Also, pretty scummy location. Town town is full of transients.

Tried country vanilla and toasted almond. Neither were spectacular. Granted, it sure beats froyo out of a spigot, but so does celery. Lots of potential and if it is the only real ice cream place in town, it doesn’t have to be outstanding to be the best. Great opportunity for someone to come in and do it better.

True old fashioned ice cream parlor! I miss these in the age of «fro-yo» joints. Definitely one to check out!

I just got married in the middle of the hot Chico summer and had Schubert’s ice cream sandwiches as my dessert! THEYWEREAMAZING! Everyone loved them and I highly recommend skipping the cake and just having them cater your dessert! Also, they totally have a ice cream cart that you can rent to keep the ice cream frozen. Schubert’s also has awesome customer service! They were always quick to respond and super nice!

If you are ever in Chico, this place is a must. This ice cream shop has been open since 1938! If that doesn’t speak for itself, then get the Chico Mint. You will forever be smiling. In the summer, this tiny shop can get busy after the free concerts in downtown. I purposely don’t get dessert at a restaurant just to save room for ice cream here instead. Next time I am in town, I will get a shake. Also they have candies such as chocolate-dipped nuts, fruits, gummies, etc.

Wow so yummy and inexpensive. I love it! Chicomint and mount Shasta were my favorite I will come again and again. There was a long line but the service was quick and beyond nice!

Love this place! A Chico favorite from the beginning. They have a wide assortment of homemade candies, including sugar free chocolates. WARNING regarding the sugar free chocolates: eat two at the most as they WILL clean out your«system,» if you get my drift!

Good ice cream but being from Santa Cruz I am spoiled. I have been having locally made ice cream my whole life. I vote for Marianne’s or Polar Bear Ice Cream in Santa Cruz over this establishment. I actually, not sure why this has such great rating as I thought that 31 flavors might even be similar. I tried peach and although good it was not as flavorful. I expected to find chunks of fruit or in the vanilla, traces of the vanilla beans and did not. Recently Santa Cruz has two newer places, they are unique and use local and organic ingredients. I personally think that ice cream in Santa Cruz is better although too far but would invite others to compare if they are in the area. That being said, it is local and hopefully people continue to support the business. I would go again but my expectations might be different. Calling it one of the two best ice creams in the U.S. just made my expectations too high. Maybe no ice cream parlor could be justly reviewed after reading that.

Crazy good ice cream. Its a quaint location with legitimate old timey atmosphere. They have beautiful looking candies but I haven’t tried them, but if the ice cream is any indication its probably excellent. I don’t know what else to say other than, if you love ice cream you will absolutely love this place.

Cute place! May be a tad bit over priced for the size of the scoop. The only seating is outside. I like going here because there isn’t a big wait. They sell other sweets like chocolates and candies.

Just tried this place last night and even though it was busy, the staff was able to get through the line pretty quickly and we didn’t feel rushed. My boyfriend and I got a Hot Fudge Sundae and a Banana split. The chocolate fudge is super rich so we felt like we could have done without it on both items. The total was about 10 bucks but for what we got it didn’t seem too bad at all. Super filling! I should have only gotten the 1 scoop but the scoops are big! All three flavors that we got were really good but I felt like we needed to know the menu more before ordering just because they had so many options! We got vanilla, pistachio, and strawberry –delis! I’m really dying to try a shake because I’m more of a shake person. I do wish there were tables inside to sit down at but the benches outside were just fine too, will defiantly be back to this place, well worth it.

The best ice cream in Chico. I always make it a priority to stop in for some Chico Mint while I’m in town visiting my son. Very friendly staff.

Since my last review the owner contacted me wanting to give me a gift card for my troubles… no need, that’s not why I wrote the review, I don’t mind spending money at a local place as long as the service is decent. I’ve gone back 3 – 4 more times since the last and this time during the day at «normal» times. The service was fine.

PROS: Ice-cream is outta this world! Cute establishment! More than just ice-cream… candy and knickknacks too! CONS: Wee bit expensive. I feel you gotta know what you want, they seemed VERY rushed to get to the next customer, ASAP!

I have been coming here since I was a kid and it is still amazing. The staff are always so friendly and nice the ice cream is amazing(and I’m not a huge fan of ice cream) and the candy is the best. To me this is a little piece of heaven I always look forward to going and getting the best ice cream no matter the weather :)

If you are ever in downtown Chico, you MUST visit Shubert’s Ice Cream! I read on their official website that they are voted one of the 2 best ice creams in the whole nation. When you walk in, you’ll see a lot of candy in the store. They make their own chocolates, and everything looks so good! I decided to order a scoop of their hand made almond chocolate ice cream. It was so tasty and creamy! I’d definitely want to try more flavors in the future. The service was great here. The servers was really friendly and helpful with our questions. I can’t wait to come back to Shubert’s!
