CONSISTENTLYGOODEVERYTIME! Health conscious food that actually tastes amazing! They arnt shy with their seasoning so the food has a lot of flavor. If I had to pick one place to eat for 3 months straight, I’d choose Dr. Grubb’s. They have a variety of great tasting proteins, sides, and sauces so you can switch things up and never get bored of eating the same food combo. All items taste amazing, but my favorite are blackened chicken and flat iron steak for protein and sauteed vegetable medley and hot pasta for sides. Keep in mind that its more of a «food to go» place, as there is very limited seating inside. You can also call ahead to place your order and they’ll have it ready upfront. Wait time can be pretty long during peak lunch time.

My office tried out the food here today, and it was delicious! The steak was tender, tofu was very flavorful, and the sides were great. I’m definitely going to bring my family back to eat here more often!

So delicious, love this place! I got the blackened salmon with couscous and mixed veggies and lemon thyme vinaigrette. Cooked and seasoned to perfection. Wish they had this place closer to West La or the South Bay. I’ll definitely eat here again if I’m ever nearby.

Very good quality food. The salmon and the chicken is very delicious. Food is seasoned well and has a lot of flavor. The vegetables are cooked perfectly. Brown and white rice nicely seasoned very well. The teriyaki bowl was also very good. I love how you choose your protein and then your sides. And the way they put it together on your plate is great. They also have salads and lots of sauces to choose from. Healthy choices and great food give this place a big thumbs up for me. I loved it and will definitely be back. The portions are not skimpy either. Any plate you choose is enough food.

I had the blackened chicken with veggies and lemon thyme sauce. It was amazing. It was about $ 12 but the portions are a good size, it was fast, delicious and you feel good because it felt light and healthy if that makes sense. I should have asked for hot sauce but it was still good without it. The only thing I didn’t like was finding a parking spot, how small it was inside, it felt a little stuffy and there was a fly in there that was annoying, they need those fans on top of the door for that reason. Also, the tables were dirty but I carry wet wipes(disinfecting kind) in the diaper bag so I wiped it down myself because I didn’t want to bother the one cashier. I also didn’t see a restroom. But maybe I missed it. Other then that, food is great and I’ll be back to try the salmon and shrimp.

Big portion, good food! I had the marinated chicken with a side of the mixed veggies and brown rice, and the garlic aoli sauce. The chicken was cooked tender and seasoned well. Brown rice tasted like it was drench in lemon juice, which made it sour. Aside from it being sour, it was still good. It complemented the chicken very well. Veggies will be veggies. As for the sauce, i thought it wasnt necessary. The chicken mixed with rice and the veggies overpowered the sauce. Since it did come with the meal, why not pick a sauce? I left with leftovers, which called for lunch the next day! Other than chicken, they also serve salmon and i think pork. You have the option to choose from 1 to 2 sides or even 3? I cant recall. Your wallet may hurt, but totally worth it!

Worth every penny!!! I had the blackened chicken with brown rice and veggies. The chicken was moist and perfevtly seasoned. The rice taste like lime which made the chicken-rice combination better. Also, the restaurant is super clean. The guys are very deligent.

Delicious blackened chicken with the garlic Apple aioli sauce for dipping. The broccoli was cooked perfectly and tasted so fresh. The baby potatoes were a little overlooked, but paired nicely with my meal. My hubby had the penne pasta which was so delicious, probably my favorite part of his meal The wait was long, about 20 – 30 minutes, but was worth the wait considering the food was cooked fresh. The seating area is very small with no outside dining or customer restroom. I will be back for the food though! And that’s worth 4 stars!

Ordered the two protein and three sides Chicken and shrimp blackened Potato, broccoli and white rice Flavor and textures 10⁄10. Everything but the white rice which was very clumpy was delicious. Amazing. Vegetables were very fresh and cooked to perfection. Chicken, although I don’t prefer breast meat was fantastic. My favorite was the shrimp. Outstanding. Killing it here. $ 28 but worth the quality

My friend and I came by for lunch after hiking up the Claremont wilderness trail. This place totally hit the spot! You can build your own combo plate with a simple yet good variety to choose from! The food is so tasty and you don’t feel guilty about what you’re eating! This is a great place to dine if you want healthy food that tastes great! They’re lemon vinaigrette was delicious with the salmon! It’s a small shop with only a handful of tables. But it shouldn’t be too bad because most people do takeout. I’m definitely coming back here if I’m ever in the area!

It’s super rare to find a place that is health conscious and delicious these days, and Dr. Grubbs is that and so much more! I ordered the blackened chicken and it was cooked to perfection. The sautéed vegetables and baby potatoes were good as well. I fell in love with the penne pasta(so simple but flavorful). Don’t get lost in the sauce, just go for the apple garlic aioli(Heaven sent… Trust me!) Fyi: it’s more of a fast casual restaurant with limited seating. If you dine in the staff is attentive and helpful!

Doctor Grubbs wants to promote health and so he gets you thinking about the food choices you make. You get to choose a protein(Chicken, Tofu, Shrimp, Salmon, Steak), then a base(pasta, salad, brown rice, potato, vegetable mix), and then a tasty sauce. Most people call and do a take-out. They make the food pretty fast(except maybe the steak). The price is somewhat expensive. But… they use really top-quality food and it really shows. They are located in downtown Claremont. The place looks really romantic with the interior design and the low lighting. Even the presentation of the food is very French. I guess what they’re missing is beer and wine.

It’s not every day that you find a fast food place that is healthy AND tastes great. I loved the Combo #2 with shrimp, penne, and vegetables in a garlic apple aioli sauce. They have a ton of options and you can build it as you’d like. Quality ingredients and the portions are filling. Love the customer service. They are quick, helpful, and friendly. Lots of available seating on a weekday afternoon. During busier times I believe you can call your order ahead of time. I’ve tried most of the eateries in the Claremont area and this is one of the best for price, food, and service. Love.

Dr. Grubb’s is where it’s at for healthy, filling, food options! Cause you know sometimes salad does just not really make the cut for a filling dinner. I was in visiting Claremont for work and was grabbing dinner with a friend(Jeffrey Y. of the LA elite squad) when we were deciding where to eat: Jeff: What kind of food do you want for dinner Me: Uh… something healthy?(Not really believing if that was going to be an option). Jeff, without skipping a beat: Ok, I know where to go. And so we arrive at Dr. Grubb’s, a tiny sorta whole-in-the-wall little corner restaurant cooking up some grilled proteins and greens. Their business model is simple. 1) pick your protein, 2) pick your side, 3) pick your sauce. Easy stuff! Kitchen smelled great, everything on the menu was making my mouth water. I let Jeff do the honors since this was his turf. We went with Doc’s Herb Marinated Chicken for the meat, Sauteed Vegetable Medley for the side(hmmm, healthy!), and finally Roasted Garlic Apple Aioli for the sauce. YOUMUSTGETTHEROASTEDGARLICAPPLEAIOLI. Trust. Originally I was going to go for the sundried tomato because that sounded good. But I let Jeff choose and Dr. Grubb’s did not disappoint.(I actually came back a few days later with my sister because I enjoyed my first visit so much. She ordered everything identical to me but with the sundried tomato and it was just not the same.) No worries though because I shared my sauce with her so she got to taste the awesomeness :) Conclusion: Hole in the wall but delicious and healthy. If I am ever in Claremont again, I will be back. Also. Get the aioli sauce.

I’ve been here so many times. I’m finally making time to write a review. I love coming here for a healthy lunch. I tend to order the same thing. Combo #1 with herb marinated chicken with the garden spring mixed salad and the garlic apple aioli sauce. I’m not a fan of white meat, but I love how they prepare the chicken breast. It tastes great with the garlic apple aioli sauce. The honey balsamic dressing that goes with the salad is excellent. It’s the best I’ve tasted. My husband loves the blackened chicken, the steamed broccoli, and the lemon thyme vinaigrette sauce. Just make sure you go to the restroom elsewhere before coming and avoid coming during lunchtime if you plan to dine in. There is not enough seating to accommodate the influx of customers during the lunch rush. I’m giving the place 5 stars for their food, but they really need to expand or relocate for a restroom and more seating.

Found this place through Unilocal reviews and figured I’d try something new. The place is small and has about 8 tables. Went around lunch time and the line was out the door. The cashier was really helpful in explaining how the different combos worked. I went ahead and ordered the blackened shrimp and the brown rice pilaf with the lemony vinaigrette. The rice pilaf was amazing and lemony. The blackened shrimp was perfectly cooked and marinated. I’ll definitely be back with some friends next time!

Two words: Blackened Tofu. If you’ve never tried tofu, find it disgusting, or think it’s a food that only weird hippies eat, I dare you to give Dr. Grubb’s Blackened Tofu a try. It’s charred to perfection, with the perfect garlic, peppery seasoning and bold umami flavor. Absolutely delicious, and my number one choice for protein at Dr. Grubb’s. The menu here is simple: choose your protein, choose an accompanying side dish, and choose a sauce. Aside from the vegan tofu, there are healthy shrimp, salmon and chicken proteins to choose from. When it comes to the side dishes, selections range from a light salad or sautéed veggie dish, to more hearty choice like pasta or cous cous. While the proteins and sides are mostly fresh and healthy, if you’re watching your waistline or counting calories, watch out for the accompanying sauces. They’re all delicious, rich and creamy, but will also add fat and calories to your meal. That being said, the sun dried pesto is my favorite sauce, which is vegan and filled with Italian spices and flavoring. When I’m in the mood for dairy, I love the creamy dill. If you have picky eaters(I’m looking at you vegans) or are dining with people with food allergies, Dr. Grubb’s is accommodating and has something for everyone. They’re very knowledgable about food allergies, and since all of their food is healthy and fresh, they know the exact ingredients of everything on their menu. Because they make everything fresh, it’s takes a minute to get your order. If you’re in a hurry, call in your order ahead of time, and they usually have it ready to pick up within 20 minutes. The restaurant itself is pretty tiny and there isn’t really anywhere to sit outside, so my boyfriend and I usually order our food here to-go. Stop by for a healthy and delicious fast casual lunch the next time you’re in Claremont Village!

One of the best restaurants, if not the best, in Claremont! Delicious, healthy, and filling! Been coming here with my fiancé for years now and still as delicious as the first time we tried it! It is definitely pricier than others, but totally worth it! There are different meal options you can choose, but basically you choose your protein, your side, and your sauce. You can do two types of proteins, sides, sauces etc. as well for a little more. Protein choices are salmon, chicken, shrimp, and tofu. So far I have tried blackened and fire-grilled Atlantic salmon, the Doc’s Herb chicken, and blackened shrimp. They are all extremely delicious!!! My favorite by far is definitely the blackened salmon! As for sides, there are your sides of vegetables, salad, roasted potatoes, bow tie pasta salad(cold), hot pasta, rice pilaf or brown rice and cous cous. So far I have tried the cold bow tie pasta, the vegetables, potatoes and rice pilaf. I have to say my favorite is the rice pilaf and the bow tie pasta! Sauces, I have only tried lemon thyme vinaigrette and roasted garlic apple aioli. This is because the lemon thyme vinaigrette is AMAZING! I don’t need any other sauce. I actually ask for more because it so good! I love this on my protein and my rice pilaf! A MUSTTRY! Parking is everywhere around the village. This is their only location. They are open from 11am-8pm Mondays and Tuesday’s, Wednesday’s through Saturdays til 9pm and closed on Sunday’s.

WOWZ!!! This place blew me away. I totally wasn’t expecting it to be so delicious. I choose beef over chicken any time and even though this place has NO beef, it still was so good that I had to give it 5 stars. Maybe I am too easy to please but shoot, they totally hit the spot for me during my visit. The place itself is super small and cramped so beware of not having any table space to enjoy your meal and people eves dropping to your conversations(yes, they sit that close to you!). There is no tables outside to sit at too so on a busy day, you might be stuck on your feet for a while waiting for a seat. The FOOD: 1. Protein options consist of: * blackened chicken * tofu * grilled salmon * blackened salmon * blackened shrimp * herb chicken 2. Sides * sauteed veggies * roasted baby potatoes(so yum!!) * rice pilaf * broccoli * cous cous salad * bow tie pasta salad * regular mixed salad 3. Sauces * sundried tomato pesto(DELICIOUS!!) * roasted garlic apple aioli * lemon thyme vinaigrette * honey balsamic * honey mustard * creamy dill yogurt From there you then can choose to add more sauces, proteins or sides to your order making your combo bigger(EXAMPLE: 2 proteins, 2 sauces, 3 sides — combo#3 on their menu) Ok so I ordered my blackened chicken with roasted potatoes sun dried tomato pesto sauce as well as the roasted garlic apple aioli($ 9.99). Awesome combinations. My chicken was cooked to perfection, not dry at all and super flavorful. My potatoes were seasoned amazingly and were semi crispy on the outside and soft in the inside, just like I like them. The portion was huge too! This place has great food and great combos to fit anyone’s taste. The food came out at good time and the staff was really friendly. They even came around to make sure we were happy with our food. Tasty and I would say, healthy food all in one place. The husband was on his no carb diet therefore he had the sauteed veggies as a side and those were still seasoned really well. Not bland at all. Tip: NO seat available? You can get your food to-go.
