This place isn’t very good if you want a fresh cup of coffee. They make the coffee hours ahead of time, and put it in an insulated container. By the time we got our coffee, it was stale. The lemon bar I had was really good though.

This is a standard stop for me to/from hikes far on the I-90 corridor. Service has always been good except this past Monday(Memorial Day). My friend was buying me a drink for my birthday and ordered me a vanilla frappé(it was hot out and rather than getting ice cream, I was looking forward to something like a milk shake). Well, I come out of the bathroom and the barista calls out a vanilla frappé. I pick up the cup and it’s full of a brown slushie liquid. So I ask«Is there coffee in this?», and she responds rather coldly«All our frappes have coffee in them.» I say«Frappes don’t have coffee.» and I am ignored. I won’t go into reasons why people can’t have coffee, but I am pretty disappointed in how little she cared. Two things: 1) Frappes do NOT have coffee in them. They are listed on their menu right under teas(which also do not have coffee in them, and they have gotten that right for me many times). The place also has mango flavored frappes listed, which I do not think coffee would work with. 2) On the chance that this barista interpreted«frappé» to be «frappuccino», it’s not my mistake: I don’t speak coffee lingo. She wasn’t interested in clarifying my confusion, and I expect better service. I wasn’t going to make my friend purchase me a replacement drink on my birthday, so I was left with something I couldn’t drink. Sad face.

Good choice for Seattlites on the way through Cle Elum. Wifi. Pizza, sandwiches, ice cream available. Comfortable couches and chairs. Feels like a slice of Americana while still being up to date and modern.

I first visited this place back in 2008 and I was really excited to try it again. It was highly recommended and I can still see why. It’s a great place to stop on a road trip. The coffee is as great as I remember, rich and full-bodied without any need for extra sweetness. But I was a little disappointed by the tiny tiny breakfast burrito. I ordered a veggie burrito which was two bell pepper strips, a bit of onion and cheese and eggs. I would definitely opt for one of the breakfast muffins next time and of course the coffee.

Great tasting coffee and cool atmosphere inside. Nice place to stop on your way home. I definitely want to stop in again and sit for awhile and enjoy my coffee.

Love this place. Nice place to come by yourself or with a friend and sit a while. Great comfy ambience. Wi-fi. And best chai anywhere. They roast their own coffee beans. Beats Starbucks anyday.

Was there yesterday on Christmas Eve. Very cozy place. I loved the fireplace. Great coffee. I ordered the Mexican mocha and wow… It was the gift that kept on giving all day long! Merry Christmas… We are on the way back now for a second round.

I did not expect to find decent coffee out in the middle of Cle Elum. I’m a bit of a coffee snob, given the relative ease of finding good coffee in Seattle. Outside if Seattle, this becomes markedly more difficult. I stopped in here based on the existing reviews, and wasn’t disappointed. It’s got an interesting, if a bit hipstery vibe to the place. The people were nice. Seating was easily found. The coffee was quite decent. It had some depth of character and earthy tones. It wasn’t too acidic. 8⁄10.

I heard that Seattle has some good coffee shops but it wasn’t until my visit here did I feel like I’ve found one. My friend reccomended we stop here because he’s had it in the past and was impressed. Right when I walked in I had a feeling it was going to be good. They had a decent selection of fresh pastries that I couldn’t resist. I ordered a lemon poppy seed and a pumpkin muffin both were moist and delicious. For my drink I got a dirty Chai which was done perfectly. The balance of Chai and expresso was perfect! Not to mention it was not super sweet like many other coffee joints. I would have loved to stay and sip my drink by the fireplace but we had fish to catch. :-) I highly reccomend stopping in here if passing through!

Nicely decorated with good coffee. Not very friendly compared with similar businesses in town. My big disappointment was the breakfast burrito I ordered. It was so small and anemic it wouldn’t have satisfied a 5 year old and the tortilla was stale as cardboard. My friend joked that they were really burrito sliders and we ended up needing a second breakfast.

We needed a cup of coffee for the road and wanted to try something local. It is a nice place. I would imagine that it would be a great place to sit and visit with friends or get some work done. The coffee is locally roasted and is good, not great. It is far better than any option I saw in Cle Elum. They have a good selection of breakfast items. We got a couple of muffins that were good.

Awesome spot in Cle Elum, with fantastic coffee and friendly service. Atmosphere makes you want to linger. They sell beer and wine too. Two thumbs up.

Saw a sign off I90 for McDonald’s so we exited. About 5 minutes down the road we gave up and pulled into Pioneer Coffee Company. So glad we did! They use ovens to warm up their breakfast burritos. Super thrilled they don’t just nuke their food. The girl working at the counter was super friendly. I ordered a latte and 2 sausage burritos. Yeah, the salsa tasted like it came out of a jar but it added just enough zing I didn’t need to use all of it. I would definitely come back! Now, about said McDonald’s…if you drive another 5 – 6 minutes, you’ll see it on the left hand side. However, why bother when you have Pioneer Coffee Company. It is both cozy and inviting. Highly recommended for a quick detour from the norm!

Cute little coffee shop to stop by if you’re making you’re way across WA on I90. We stopped here in major need of not only caffeine but food and lucky for us, they had both! At 830am, this was place was hopping, about four to five other tables inside chatting, drinking coffee, computing what have you. They have a good selection of breakfast burritos(veggie friendly too), pastries, pizza and sandwiches later in the day along with your standard coffee fare. Two espresso drinks and breakfast burritos ran $ 13. The burritos could be bigger, I was done in four bites, but do I really need a huge burrito? Answer sadly is no. That’s really my only complaint. I am 99% sure I will never be crossing I90 ever again but if I did, I would definitely come back for more coffee!

I really loved the ambiance of the café! My fiancé just moved here, stopped in to have a beer and check out new places in town. We ordered an apple fritter and two beers, I was a little put off at first that I got a bit of an awkward response and resistant when I asked for a plate(for the apple fritter) and if she could open our beers. We enjoyed our drinks and apple fritter in a very nice setting, until 25min before closing we were suffocated with the dust and sound of vacuuming right next to where we were sitting. Then we noticed that 20min before the café closed, they turned the open sign off. Just seemed a bit odd and unprofessional. We might come here again, just not with super high expectations for customer service.

Let’s just say we don’t pass by Cle Elum without stopping here! Great coffee… urban Seattle style… not drive-thru small town style. They roast their own beans and make a perfect iced latte for the road!

Great coffee shop — both quality of coffee and the environment. They also have a wine shop, beer to go, and some good food on the menu(although we did not try).

We were passing through in the morning looking for a coffee house. This one crossed our way so we stopped in. I got a spiced chai witch was very mild but still a good cup. My friend took a regular coffee and it was a good blend. We ordered a few pasties and went on our way. we later found out the fritter was a bit chewy, that’s why I rated it down a star. But it’s a coffee house, not a french bakery so I’m satisfied.

This is an excellent coffee house in the downtown(I think this is a downtown) of Ellensburg. I stop here every time I travel over the mountains or head out to go camping from Seattle and I am never disappointed! They roast their own coffee and wow it is magical. On top of that the workers are always nice and you can feel that small town hospitality. There is even a little wine wall in the corner which I have yet to look through, but it adds to the environment and looks wonderful. I usually go for a Vanilla latte. I don’t know how they do it but it’s by far the best latte I’ve ever had and blows me away every time! The atmosphere suits the town perfectly and I encourage anyone who loves a good cup of coffee to stop in here and check it out. Enjoy

From the west side and looking for a good coffee stop? This is it. Superb drip, great espresso drinks, and a great selection of breakfast and lunch sandwiches or burritos. Also a nice place to fill up on 22s from iron horse or other local breweries. You can also open and drink the brews in the shop if you’re so inclined… Definitely recommend the standard robust drip, the blueberry muffins and the chicken chipotle sandwich. If you’re passing through Cle Elum, this is one of those local stops you have to make!
