Groggs Traditional Irish Pub

Took my dad out to lunch, what better place than this. We both had burgers, and a Nitro Guinness, some wings for an appetizer and the table was set for a great father & son luncheon. Enjoy

This place was horrible. The girl at the bar helped four customers before she helped us and we were sitting at the bar. The beers on tap are really expensive for a dive bar.

Have been here before to listen to AC Myles, but never ordered any food. Today, started at the sushi place in the same parking lot, but after being ignored for 15 minutes, we left and walked across the parking lot. I’m glad we did. Great service and very good food. I had the Sonoma salad which was a great combination of ingredients not normally seen in a salad. My buddy had a club sandwich (I think), which he said was very good, and my other friend had salad and added a chicken breast to it. Ingredients tasted and looked very fresh. Glad we were able to find a new lunch spot.

This was a «go to» and may still be considering my usual server is amazing. Had a scuffle with our party and some random guy, the guy pushed my friend. He didn’t do anything back by the way. We all were asked to leave by some lady because the workers knew him personally… Got a phone call from the same girl blaming my party for a few issues they had cleaning up, calling us «white trash», saying «go back south of McKinley», and saying our party threatened to «bash their employees head in” — which did not happen, and whatever all that even means… Very unprofessional and bad way to handle an issue. You work at a BAR, handle yourself better!
Also, don’t forget to scroll to the bottom of their Unilocal to see the «not recommended» reviews, you will see that I am not the only one with issues with their staff. They are known for it apparently

This place is super cool. I went there on a Friday or Saturday night to get a good buzz. I sat at the bar and ordered some Bud Lights. They had shots of Jäger on tap. That combination had me feeling well. I ordered some onion rings because I wanted to try some pub food and they were amazing. Overall this place gets full marks from me due to great drinks, food, atmosphere, and service. Cool night out.

Best cheese steak sandwich! Seriously! My husband and I love the super casual atmosphere and go there for a cold beer and their steak sandwich all the time!

Pretty cool spot. I was looking for another good Irish pub and I found it. Pretty decent drink specials and the food is pretty good. My go-​to is the blackened chicken wrap. Pretty tasty.

This is a great sports bar! The drinks are cold and the food is amazing ! Their menu has been revamped and we go sometimes just to have a great lunch. Several TV’s showing your favorite game are always on

I have stopped in here several times and had the same good experience every time. Good beer selection and I would highly recommend the cheesesteak, it’s excellent.
Its also a good place to chill while you get your car detailed at the Shell station right behind them.

Love this place! Very casual and very friendly staff! They have a decent menu and a great beer selection! They use a bathroom service which I ALWAYS appreciate. I always judge a place by how clean they keep their restroom. They do not carry Absolute Citron, and that’s the only reason for not having the 5 stars. Other than the Absolute Citron, I would HIGHLY recommend this place! Always a good time!!!

Literally been sitting here 30 minutes and no employee has came to the table or anything. Seems like if they don’t know You, you don’t receive any service. After tonight will probably never come back. Horrible service.

Our group decided that Grogg’s would be a great place to go on St. Patrick’s Day, thinking ‘Ayy, Irish Pub!,’ and this place absolutely made us feel like we’d fallen into a terrible, time-​warped trap!
Imagine the scene in Remember the Titans when the townspeople STRAIGHT UP STARE at the new football players. THAT is what it felt like walking into Grogg’s.
Service, terrible. Drinks, worthless. And the very *stiff* vibe (for lack of a better term) from the entire establishment was altogether off-​putting, TO SAY THE LEAST.
I want to give this place the benefit of the doubt, because I want to see the best in people, but the reality is that the only difference between our group and the rest of the patrons in the bar was the color of our skin.
NEVER coming here again. If you care AT ALL about customer service or a little thing called equality in this day and age, DO NOT go to Grogg’s.

I walked into the establishment about 30 minutes ago. Grabbed a seat at the bar in front of the bartender. Smiled expectantly. He was making what appeared to be a delicious drink for another patron. Instead of making eye contact, said bartender informed me he’d be with me in a moment. It was nice to be addressed, but I hated feeling like I was bothering the poor fellow. So I left. I’m still kind of sorry I annoyed the guy.

So, I had always passed this place and have never gone in. I’m a bit sad that I’m moving soon because this bar is a hidden gem. Great atmosphere, great staff, and great food/​drinks. Staff was attentive and made sure everyone was taken care of. Food was yummy, especially after having a couple of drinks. Whenever I come back to Fresno to visit family, I will stop here again for an evening :)

It’s a sports bar with an Irish theme. Or an Irish bar with a sports theme. Adequate selection of craft beer, but nothing really exotic or unique.
The food was solid 2-​star, mediocre bar crud. The chicken wings are breaded — a sin in chicken wings, IMHO (and, yes, I know this to be true!) and we’re just kinda nasty. The chicken quality was suspect. The Reuben Flatbreads were interesting, but really didn’t hit the right flavor chords to be good. Burgers and fries were very average. Nothing was bad! I need to stress that.
The staff shines though. Attentive, quick and able to pay attention on a hectic Friday night. That takes skill.
Very solid. I’d return, but there’re other places doing a better job of it in the Fresno /​Clovis area. This is not an area where no great restaurants are. There are a lot of places turning out great, creative, tasty, fun food in great places. You just have to seek them out!

Ok so I absolutely LOVE this place. I’m a major football fan and have been watching most of the games at Grogg’s this season. It’s a nice little Irish pub with amazing drink selections and a modern take on traditional Irish foods. They have several screens going, and everyone is always having a great time. They have a nice little outdoor patio also. It’s never über crowded or anything, and the service is great. I especially love their bartenders, who are really dedicated to making their patrons happy. And the one time I didn’t like one of my drinks because it was too sweet for my taste, another bartender absolutely insisted on making me another drink on the house even though I didn’t say anything about not liking my drink. And the new drink was incredible. These folks really take care of their patrons. I will continue coming here every week this season and then again afterwards!

Best place for a hideaway drink or 4… Food is great and people are always cool here. Never had a problem with service here. And St Pattys day is always fun here!

Wow, I thought I had written a review for this place, looks like I hadn’t gotten around to it.
I have been to Groggs two times, and both experiences ranged from bad to downright terrible. The first time I went with my roommate, and was hassled by the person checking ID’s at the door, who kept insisting that he thought my roommates ID may be fake. I am not sure why he thought my roommates license was fake, as it looked just like mine does, I can certainly vouch that it is not. After being hassled for 5 minutes we just said forget it and went elsewhere.
The second time I went with a big group of people and took their party bus there. When they picked us up the guy driving the bus was really cool, and they had an ice chest and gave everyone a free beer. I thought that maybe Groggs had gotten a little better, but those positive feelings all changed once we got inside.
We had taken the beers that their own party bus gave us inside the bar, no one in the bus said we couldn’t, and no one at the door told us to leave them outside. We all found a spot inside and were standing around talking. All of a sudden the owner comes out of nowhere and literally grabs the beer bottles out of two peoples hands and just says «ALL OF YOU, OUT, NOW.»
We were all stunned, what had we done? We had been there less than 5 minutes, and everyone was just standing around talking. When someone asked him what we were being thrown out for, he says «NO ONE BRINGS OUTSIDE BEER IN TO MY BAR!» One person calmly tried to explain that his own party bus had given us the beer, to which his response was «ARE YOU GIVING ME ATTITUDE? KEEP IT UP AND YOU REALLY WILL BE OUT OF HERE.»
I should emphasize that this guy wasn’t talking to us, he was yelling at us. Apparently trying to find out what the problem was, and then trying to explain it, is considered «giving attitude» by the owner.
After that incident we all finished our free beer and took the party bus back home, because seriously, who wants to put up with bullshit like that?
