The calamari appetizer was crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside, just like it’s supposed to be and we enjoyed it. However. The $ 15.95 «blackened» halibut tacos(3) on the fresh sheet menu had an over-powering sweet chipotle sauce which clashed with the rest of the flavors. Inedible! Two stars in Unilocal = «Meh. I’ve experienced better.» Yup, that sums it up.

Had lunch here yesterday and it was pretty good. Had the halibut fish and chips. The fish was good and the frys were better than average. Not a big fan of there coleslaw as it was all red cabbage. Tarter sauce was really good with plenty of dill. $ 33.00 for lunch for 2. I will go back. Older funky place but the staff was real friendly and did a good job.

First and foremost, I don’t eat seafood. But I’d ask some people for recommendations of a GREAT fresh seafood place for when we traveled to Coos Bay. It needed great fresh seafood… and great non seafood for me. See, hubby LOVES seafood and rarely gets it. So I wanted to make him happy. Sharkbites did not disappoint. Hubby orderd the seafood platter but subbed out the oysters. I had the chicken tacos. The place seemed to specialize In seafood tacos so I hoped the chicken ones would be tasty. They were wonderful. Simple with cabbage, salsa and a lemon crema. Even though I was full I still craved a third. Thankfully I restrained. Hubby could not stop talking about the quality and perfection of how the seafood tasted. He LOVED the clams and said the halibut was amazing. He joked … but not really … by asking if we could go the following night. We will definitely go back the next time we come to Coos Bay.

Food was decent, nothing special. Service was slow, felt ignored when the place wasn’t even busy.

We came in here not really knowing what to expect. The first thing I feel in love with was the décor, it’s very rare to see a place that looks this nice in our area. The waiters were so nice and seemed genuinely happy to be at work. I got fish tacos, which were delicious. And we also ordered nachos. Left happy and wanting to come back for more.

My husband and I stayed in North Bend on a road trip and saw SharkBites on Unilocal!and thought we’d give it a try. For a Saturday night the place was dead but it was a cold winter night… We had the clam chowder and it was amazing! Meaty clams and gluten free if you’re watching that sort of thing! We decided to split the seafood platter and it was plenty for the two of us(and hubby can EAT!) it paired well with the local Sevin Devil’s beer and local OR wine we had. If you’re looking for good sea food with a funky fun atmosphere try SharkBites!

Came here after the seafood market across the street was closed. We came for lunch and the small dining room was bustling with diners. A waitress seated us at the bar for that was all that was available at the time and since we were hungry we didn’t mind. Server/owner took our drink orders which included some waters(which we never received). After our drinks came we ordered the seafood platter to try different items since we were in seafood country. The platter came with fries and coleslaw and when it arrived it looked good, however, only some of it was. The halibut and cod were tasty and the crab cake was nice. Unfortunately the shrimp and clams were over cooked, the calamari was flavorless and the fried oysters were soggy. My wife also had a cup of clam chowder which she said was ok but a little watery. In hindsight we should have ordered some dishes where things weren’t fried(to improve the odds of good tasting seafood) but even so they could have executed these items better. We recommend if you try this place get something fresh sounding and not the platter. You may have a better overall experience than we did. Also while the service was friendly it was a little inconsistent.

Great food!!! I ordered the Fish and Chips because if you can get that right, you’re pretty much doing all the food right. This held true for me. My wife ordered the steamed clams and they were fantastic! Fish n Chips were battered with a beer batter and it was thin but dense, and very flavorful! Fried like they do in England! Perfect flavor and texture! The clams were steamed with fresh herbs and garlic. Perfect! One suggestion… get a better bread!!! Other than that… absolutely worth visiting Shark Bites

My 5-stars are normally reserved for a «WOW» experience. While this place wasn’t quite the«WOW» experience, that’s not to say that I wasn’t impressed. Came here with family for a quick lunch. They have a nice selective lunch special with a discount on their beer as well. I had made three selections to try their cod and BLT with avocado, with a basket of fries. They were generous proportions, and I probably could have gone without the BLT. None the less, it was all good. Our server was friendly and efficient. The seating was comfortable for both adults and children. I thought it was a little odd that it was connected to a surf store of some sort, but not a bother while we enjoyed our meals. Pricing is not too shabby either.

I’d give SharkBites 3.5 starts if I could, but there were enough high points to warrant 4 stars. Food was pretty good, service was pretty good, and overall, our experience was pretty good, too. Food: Had dinner with the family here while on a road trip. We spent the day at the beach and were looking forward to some good food. I ordered a cup of clam chowder and southwestern fish tacos(fried), while the missus went with the fish and chips. Clam chowder was great, and went really well with the local Seven Devils beer the server recommended. The missus really liked her fish and chips, and slugged down a couple signature cocktails. My fish tacos were well cooked and seasoned. I just wish fish tacos(everywhere, not just here) were not stuffed so full that you can’t pick them up without feeling like a slob. But hey that’s the way it goes! Kids ordered plain chicken tacos and a chicken breast sandwich. Both were enjoyed without much complaining, which is high praise. Service: Super-nice and very accommodating with all of the special«no seasonings please» requests on the kids food. Vibe: Across-from-the-Egyptian-Theatre-cool. Unfortunately the façade of the theatre was being renovated, so no nice view for us. And it was a pretty busy evening at the restaurant, so we were seated in the market portion rather than the main dining room. It’s not a fancy place in general, and I always prefer proprietors to put money into their food cost and training their staff rather than interior design. It was just fine for us and we were happy to have a decent dinner. Family-friendly: Most things for kids are fried, and we had our fill of that after a week on the road. So we opted to customize some menu items for the kids, and the kitchen was very accommodating. Totally family-friendly place, for that reason alone. Summary: Good place in Coos Bay for fresh seafood and drinks. Definitely worth waiting if there is a line, and definitely good for kids.
Nice staff, cool wall design with big coffee bags. A bit on the pricier side, but great fresh food! The halibut burgers were really good, with a side of coleslaw that had a hint of sweetness and wasn’t mayonnaisey like most others would make it. Fries were yummy too! Fried oysters had great flavor, but could’ve been fried just a tiny bit longer or breaded differently to have more crunch to it on the outside. Chicken tacos were big and filling, but the meat was a bit dry. Overall, come here for their fish or clam chowder.

A disappointment. From the previous reviews I gathered the fries weren’t good but the fish and crab cakes were something awesome. So stopped in for take out, enjoyed a good beer while I waited… My order was the Stealhead fish n chips, minus the chips, double the slaw… and the app order of 3 crab cakes. The Stealhead was very good with a great breading. Slaw was awful. Lacked flavor, cabbage was fresh though. Crab cakes were just ok. The biggest downer was the random shell pieces… I’m sure there’s better out there… can only hope anyways.

Only reason I gave this place five stars was because I couldn’t give it anymore. Fish and chips — YES! Tacos — YES! Homemade desserts — YES!!! This place is so amazing and delicious! Do yourself a favor and go and eat! It is so wonderful!
