I’ve only been here for happy hour but it was lovely! We came on a friday and it was pretty quiet. They have the perfect menu to choose from and a nice atmosphere. Great little spot!

Rolled into Coronado early evening Friday. No reservations but a little hungry we dropped into the Tavern. We had seen it on an earlier visit and longed to try it out. We were seated at a small table for two and given menus. Not big eaters we ordered off of the happy hour appetizer menu. Wife had flat iron taco and mini Brussels sprouts and I had a short rib slider and the special«albacore a little cooked a little raw» everything was delicious. Full flavored small servings, it doesn’t get better than that. I also had a stone IPA draft. Tasty. Shawn was our server and was more than happy to answer questions.

This is a great place with a unique rustic environment. The boys had ribeye steak and absolutely loved it. I had chicken pot pie which was good, but the filling was kind of watery. We ordered calamari expected it to be the typical fried appetizer, but it was grilled with vegetables and a delicious sauce. Better than we expected. The owner walks around and asks everyone how their food and experience are. That’s very rare and much appreciated nowadays. I’d return, but next time I’d try something other than the chicken pot pie.

3 stars= I like it, don’t love it. Service was good. Atmosphere is pretty cool. The drinks are overpriced. Not sure how often I would go back, but when you’re in the area and have some extra cash to spend. it’s not a bad alternative.

The food was amazing! Chef Itze even came out to check that everything was to our liking. We had the pork chop and the rack of lamb special. Both were cooked to perfection. I also highly recommend the mac and cheese along with the brussel sprouts. While their spin on calamari is unique, it did not disappoint. I would suggest that as a main appetizer. The owner was gracious and made his way around the restaurant all night. If you haven’t been there yet, you need to put it on your food destination list. 5 star yummy! Had the chance to eat at The Tavern again last night and was very pleased once more. Highly recommend you get there early for the happy hour menu to sample as many of the tasty items that you can. We had the olives and the mozzarella bites and found both well presented and delicious. Service was extremely prompt and our server Katrina made great recommendations. Had the scallop special — can I say OMG over-the-top amazing! I never order chicken but could not resist the sides with the roasted chicken which turned out wonderfully moist with a to die for honey glaze. Loved the presentation of the Kentucky Mule and could have had those all night. Last but not least had the sweet potato donuts per Katrina’s recommendation — she was not lying. A must have even if you have no room left for desert. Still a 5 star experience. Kudos to Chef Itze for sharing her culinary talents. And thanks to Owner John for stopping our table to check in on us. We will be back again for sure!

The Tavern is amazing. Such a fun crowd, and a really easy to read menu. It looks like a court record or doctors file. I had an old fashion drink and the Cuban sandwich with the sweet potatoe fries as a starter. CJ was our server. He was fun and made some great recommendations on where to go at night for our friends birthday. If you want a laid back, delicious, and affordable lunch come to The Tavern!

Oh my gosh — love The Tavern in Coronado. The BEST, pub ever — Fabulous food, exceptional and friendly service, the staff actually appear to love being here! The music selection, eclectic and comfy atmosphere really made us feel welcome. And the mixed drinks and beer selection were outstanding. We had the mini Mac n cheese and double cheese burger with onion rings and fries. What a wonderful treat for a couple of out of towners. know they have healthier foods but we really needed comfort tonight — and got just what we wanted!!!

I don’t know what all these other whiners are talking about… the bloody Mary’s are FANTABULOUS! We had the mozzarella bites to start and they came with oil and a chunk of warm French bread. Delicious. My man candy had the shoshito pepper and bacon burger and he said it was yum dillyicious. I had the starter Mac and cheese and added bacon and OHEMGEE it was off the hook yumtastic! Best Mac and cheese EVAH! I tried the sangria and didn’t care much for it. The ambience is super cute! It’s a downstairs location so even if it’s hot out it stays pretty cool with a breeze through the open concept. I gave it only 4 stars cuz the prices are expensive as hell!

The rating is quizzically low, but it’s justified by the portion size. I came with friends for happy hour and there’s a great atmosphere. The food is quite tasty, particularly the pork slider and Brussels sprouts. The mac & cheese, mozzarella bites, and steak taco were decent, but nothing to rave about. I really liked the house sangria though! The waitress was pretty friendly and the happy hour prices are decent for the still tiny portions. Overall, it’s a chill place, but the portions are sized for a Guinea pig. Have fun! P. S. The bathrooms aren’t clearly labeled and the men’s room has a clear window on the door which was weird.

My boyfriend and I stopped in here one night when we were in Coronado for dinner and drinks. Overall it was a pretty good experience. To drink I had a glass of wine and my boyfriend had a beer. They had a pretty good beer selection, but my boyfriend was very annoyed that they served it in a snifter when it should have been served in a pint glass. Food was pretty good. We ordered the Mac and cheese, crab cake, halibut tacos, and chicken pot pie to share. Everything was good. Tacos were a little dry though. Also, service was great, we really enjoyed chatting with him.

1st time here. Great casual vibe place, I enjoyed the mussels for a late lunch and they tasted awesome! Unique with the stick fries toppled over the mussels. They were good in size. Soup spoon a must. The flavor is lemon/wine/cilantro/coriander. 2nd, Heirloom tomato salad with burrata. Primo! Me Piace tanto! Service is great! Best place I’ve been to on the island! I hear it’s a female chef! I dig it. Burrata is made fresh here. Hit this place Returned for dinner, requested Brooke from earlier. Sat at the bar for a different feel. Enjoyed the crab cakes which she recommended and the pasta ragu. Perfect. The cakes didn’t have tons of bread and came with a salad mixta. The homemade pasta, was almost as good as mine(wink) and I could’ve finished it all, but held back. So this is a two event 5star. To remember… it always starts with your first impression… the presenter, Brooke. Very knowledgable, impressive and also unique.

The Parliament of Trees: «Flesh… speaks… wood… listens.» Alan Moore — The Swamp Thing Gilligan’s Island. I spent my childhood in front of the tv watching stuff like Gilligan’s Island after school. There was nobody at home after school and the tv was all mine. I wondered what it would be like living on an tropical island. Tavern reminds me of Gilligan’s Island. Place is furnished in distressed old wood. Paint is peeling off. Brushing my hands over the surface I felt the softness and the weathering of the years. Old wood holds stories. I wonder what the wood did before it became part of Tavern… Chicken pot pie had just top crust that had texture and flavor like a croissant. Loved the soup like inside with carrots, potatoes, and chicken. Serving size was just enough for a small lunch. I also tried the fried chicken wings with Mediterranean spices. Nice crispy skin and flavor. Almost perfectly cooked. There was a little bit on the drumstick that was dry. Otherwise delicious wings! Sweet potato donut had a bit of crunch on the outer shell and the inside was like a cinnamon roll. Flavor was very good. Sweet potato donut holes had a very crunchy shell balanced by the soft inside. Flavor was very good. Service by our waiter Austin was excellent. He was very knowledgable about the menu.

Stopped by The Tavern on the way to the theatre and only had about 45 minutes to spare. I sidled up to the bar and ordered a Salty Dog and an order of the Beef Sliders. Let’s start with the drink. I normally don’t love a salty dog because bottled/canned grapefruit juice has a sour/bitter flavor. The Tavern fresh squeezed their grapefruit juice and the result is a slightly sweet salty dog with a fresh citrus flavor. It was a perfect refreshment from the heat. The sliders(two come with your order) are chock full of meaty goodness. The beef is fresh and tasty and perfectly cooked to medium doneness, loaded with bacon jam and topped with a healthy slice of buttery Brie. A cup of tasty fries and ketchup and it was just what I needed to tide me over until dinner. The bartender was awesome as well. Very knowledgeable.

The one great thing about going to Coronado is you know it’s always going to have the same beautiful small town vibe it’s always had no matter how long it’s been since the last time I visited. The Tavern is this great little bar slash restaurant. It is decorated with some interesting pieces. Walking down the stairs leading inside, directly on your left, is this old wood weathered piece with numerous cupboard holes. Maybe held mail at one time. Just love the open air window running the length of the upper back wall. Great for people watching. Our waiter was super nice and really informed about the menu. Before ordering we were warned that their portions were small. Not to worry, what it may lack in quantity, more than makes up with quality! My pork belly tacos with thyme peach sauce and pickled red onion, just melted in my mouth. It went really well with my pale ale Golden beer. For desert we shared the sweet potato doughnut with bourbon caramel dipping sauce and fresh cinnamon whipped cream on the side. Such a great combination of flavors! Just love all the little touch’s throughout, like the mini glass oil votive lining the entryway staircase, within the front sign and on each table accompanied by one fresh flower for every table. You can tell this place is well taken care of and loved. It shines throughout each person who works their and lights the place up.

So I am seeing the complaint across the board from Unilocal Reviews, my entourage I attended The Tavern with and my personal experience is that the food tastes good, but very very small in proportions. Whilst I’m not your typical«America» who thinks bigger is always better pertaining to food and vehicles… All you can eat buffets and Super Jumbo Meal, Super Size me please!!! There should be a balance between good tasting food and portion, Not left to be wondering… Is there something more… As you walk away and you are left still hungry after paying a hefty price for a meal. The cocktails selection seemed diverse and appropriate for a beach community, based on the refreshing themes. I enjoyed The Mules, Russian Style and my Favorite. The Kentucky Mule. I also took away some interior decorating designs… so it isn’t a total loss…

We are staying at the Del and thought we’d just walk around to see what we could find for dinner. Fortunately, the Tavern had their menu posted outside on the sidewalk and my 13 year-old son decided he would like to try their fish & chips. We were greeted immediately by a friendly couple of people and inquired about food to go. They procured a menu and offered some outstanding suggestions. I tried the ancho chile margarita(while we waited for our order) in addition to a Bibb lettuce salad that had a phenomenal dressing. My son enjoyed his fish & chips so much that he refused to share a single bite! Everything here was delicious, the service was outstanding, and everything was ready quickly. The food is very fresh and flavorful, so I think we will be stopping by again before we leave town, because, you know … Chicken pot pie.

We stayed at the Coronado last week and came here for lunch on our first day. We each had cocktails, which were all really good. I had the strawberry lemonade and it was very good. We all ate as well and the food we had was very good, my husband had a burger and I had the crabcake. Only complaints were that the service was a bit slow. They seemed understaffed for a Sunday afternoon. Ambiances of this place was great though, very cool and trendy!

3.5 This place was pretty cool in Coronado area. A nice cold brew after a hot day in the sun is what this place is. It’s not a beach bar and located more toward the tourist street. To enter you walk down the stairs. They have a full bar and they sure know how to make their drinks. I only got a beer(sculpin) and we also ordered the mussels. The mussels were tarty and had a lemony flavor, which I liked. My friend didn’t like it too much because he said they could have burn off the wine more. I ain’t Italian so I thought it was good. One thing was the mussels were a bit on the smaller side. Also service was so-so, they didn’t refill our waters and there weren’t too busy.
