Downtown Deli is a lunchtime staple in Cortland. Nothing fancy but reliable– tons of great sandwiches, wraps, salads, and soups to choose from. The core staff members are always upbeat and friendly, even when it’s super busy.

Just had a very disappointing experience at Downtown Deli. I called to place a take out order, and upon going inside to pick it up, heard the employees negatively discussing my phone call in front of other customers. If I wasn’t starving I would have walked out right then. Upon getting home with our order, two of the sandwiches had no bacon, ALL of the«hot» sandwiches were cold(cheese not even melted), and turkey was given instead of chicken. Very poor experience, especially for the price and the lack of professionalism. I’ll stick to M and D Deli… not sure why I ever thought to stray from it!

Glad I found this gem of a place while in downtown Cortland. Best NY Style Deli I have ever been too. My sandwich was on point. The bread was super fresh and the so we’re the rest of the ingredients. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Will def stop back next time I’m in town.

I ordered a Chicken Cordon Bleu sandwich here and it was pretty decent. I would also recommend the Sweet Potato Fries as well. The people who run the place are awesome and set an excellent tone to the atmosphere.

I’ve eaten here 3 times and all 3 times it was absolutely terrible. If u walk into this place ur best bet would be to walk right out and go to central city. The eggs for breakfast were microwaved, chicken for a chicken cutlet sandwich was rubbery and the fountain beverage was watered down and 75% ice. Absolutely fucking terrible this place is a disgrace to the cortland community and New York as a whole. I would love to see someone who actually enjoys a meal here because they need some sense smacked into them.

The sandwich I had was nothing to write home about. In fact is a bit on thin side. The staff was nice and pleasant.

Love the high energy positive vibes, plus the food is awesome. My fav is the Italian sub. Downtown Deli makes the sandwich shop one block south taste like dog food.

This is my favorite lunch spot in Cortland. They have an endless array of specialty sandwiches to choose from, or you can simply create your own. I personally love the Tribeca with its smoked turkey. The mac and cheese is nothing to write home about, but I have enjoyed everything I have tried here.

The Deli is a great lunch spot. They have innumerable sandwich options and you could essentially get something new there every week for six months. My favorites include the Ellis Island Reuben, the Italian Stallion(great with added portobello mushrooms) the Tuscan Chicken Panini, and their mac and cheese. It’s really no great than the frozen boxed mac and cheese, but it sure is warm and comforting on a cold day! The Deli gets very, very busy around lunchtime and this can cause quite a line, so I recommend getting there just a bit before noon!

Loved going here when I lived in Cortland. The sandwiches are very good and the dinning area is large. It’s a fun place to sit down for lunch or to pick up lunch. I have good memories of the downtown deli and recommend it to everyone that loves a good sandwhich.
