Chicken Tender Platter w/Fries. $ 7.50. My friends. The photo gave this item WAY more justice that it deserved. And the photo looks unappetizing. The Inedible: Both my guy and I were in the mood for chicken strips. The chicken itself was extremely bland and tasteless. They were very thinly cut. Five small strips were heaped onto an extremely greasy, flavorless batch of french fries. I can’t tell you how much Malt Vinegar I had to bath them in to make them semi decent. The Lack of Service: Boardwalk was manned by one young lady at the register and two young men at cook stations. The young lady had a drone-like, expressionless look on her face. I had a question about one of the sauces: Me: «Hi! Is the Chipotle dipping sauce very spicy?» Drone: *stares blankly* then, «I don’t know.» Followed by, «It might be. It’s Chipotle.» Me: «Have you tried it?» Drone: «Um.» Ok so never mind. I tried it. It was WAYTOOSPICY! I had to ask for a tub of ranch. And about the dipping sauces. I’ve tried better at all fast food places. Not a fan. The Atmosphere: They had one TV playing Cartoon Network’s «Boomerang». I like old throwback cartoons. But showing Johnny Bravo over bad food and terrible service(even for a fast food place) wasn’t going to help.

The good: The fries are awesome. The bad: It’s not special. Boardwalk Fresh Burgers and Fries is another one of those places that you’ll eat at because it’s there and it’s just not memorable enough to make you think about coming back just for the food. I ordered a Bacon Cheddar Ranch Chicken wrap and it was fine. It had all the components I expected and they tasted good. It just didn’t leave a lasting impression. My husband appreciated the variety of burger toppings available, but didn’t necessarily oooh and aaah over the meal as a whole. It was fine. Not bad, not especially good, just fine.

Stopped in there with my friend to grab a quick bite before our movie started(the avengers) My friend bought the movie tickets so I told him lunch was on me. We went into Boardwalk because it was right there and we needed to munch quick. We both got the same thing. Chili Cheese dog, fries, and a small drink. Total was 19.98!!! hahahahahah Service was excellent. Right when I said chilidog the cashier loudly barked«DOG»! to the cook behind him. I liked that. The meal was average — nothing to sound a reggae air horn over. I’ll say this about their fries though: Their fries were proper — no doubt about it. They know how to make fries. My main bark is that I paid 20 bucks for 2 chili dogs, 2 fries, and 2 small drinks. I get that this place is in a very decadent slave complex, but come on! even the worker bees that go in there are looking for a deal. You guys need to adjust your prices. Thanks Milton Friedman! have fun in hell being Satan’s lap dog.

Wow, what happened to this place? Been here before and it was an enjoyable experience. Had the Double and it was tasty. However, went here recently for a quick bite before going upstairs for a movie and this place has really gone south. Besides assembling the burger poorly, the buns were cold and dry and the meat patty was overcooked. The crazy thing was the place was packed, probably because of limited quick eats options.

Wow! I had an interesting experience here the other night. My family decided to go to dinner with another family, they like to hear the live music at Metro Point on Saturday nights. Everyone was going to eat at Cosi, but I felt like a burger so I headed into Boardwalk. The menu looked really good. I placed my order, a Bacon Cheese Burger, Chili Cheese Fries, and a beverage. The total was just over $ 13. I thought to myself that the price seemed pretty steep, as I can go to Islands for less than that, but the food looked good, so I figured I would still give it a shot. As I was waiting for my food, I started to take notice of some things that bothered me. First of all, it seemed like no one really knew what they were doing. I was watching the guy cooking fries, he would drop a batch and then stand there looking around like there was nothing else for him to do. The cook, kept looking at the orders like they were complex math problems, as if he was trying to interpret these instructions for the first time. He wasn’t wearing an apron or anything, just a 5x(gangster t-shirt) I watched as he took a burger off the griddle and was just about to put it on the bun, when he decided it wasn’t done enough and put it back on the grill. At this point I was becoming a little uncomfortable. I started looking around more. I noticed that the floor was really dirty in the cooking area(the entire cooking area is visible from the seating area). I watched the behavior of the staff, and literally they all looked like it was their first day on the job. I watched the fry cook, who finally started prepping orders, as he put some chili onto a chicken sandwich. I noticed that he was scraping the bottom of the chili pan pretty intensely to get enough chili for the sandwich. The fry guy drew the cooks attention to the chili deficit. I watched as the cook shrugged, and took a bottle full of water and poured about a half cup of water into the pan and began to scrape it and stir it up. It looked to me as if he was attempting to stretch the chili for just one more order, my chili cheese fries. I was getting really irritated at this point. A couple minutes later the fry guy checked on the watered down chili, he grabbed the cook and apparently they decided it wasn’t going to pass inspection. They informed the lady working the register and she told me that they were out of chili. At that point I had seen enough and I requested a refund. She didn’t seem at all shocked by my request. The cook came over and said, «So you don’t even want the burger.» I told him, that I didn’t after what he had just done with the chili, and he told me he was trying to clean the pan. I don’t buy it for a second. It was pretty obvious what he was doing. The fry guy glared at me as he made a point of picking up my burger walking over to the trashcan, holding it at chest level, and dropping it in the can. I could have gone without the dramatic display. I ended up paying for the drink and receiving a refund for the difference. Apparently they don’t reverse credit card charges at this establishment, so I received cash back. I went next door and got dinner at Cosi, which was awesome. When I finally got back to the table with our family and friends, one of my friends told me that they knew a guy who had worked for Boardwalk, and left over questionable conditions and practices. They hadn’t warned me sooner because they didn’t realize that is where I had gone. Usually I don’t write reviews on places I haven’t eaten. However, with what I saw, I don’t care if this place tastes the best, it’s only a matter of time before someone get’s sick. Note: Also just checked out Boardwalk’s last inspection by the health department. They were cited and ordered to stop storing plastic wear, and cups and lids in the employee bathroom. That’s disgusting, nothing should be stored in the bathroom. What a joke of a business, if you want to see the report, check out and type in Boardwalk under name of business and Costa Mesa under City.

I ordered the chicken tender sandwich with avocado, bacon, lettuce, swiss, tomato, grilled onions and mayo with fries to share. It came out 8 minutes later minus the bacon, but the cashier quickly rectified that situation. He was very nice albeit very scared and nervous. The sandwich was good but nothing amazing and the ranch I got for my fries was thin and bland. The fries would have been perfect if the oil temperature was higher because they were very oily and soggy. It was a decent but not so very cheap meal before the movies. It was 20 dollars for 2 burgers, 1 regular order of fries and two drinks.

They clearly use frozen patties though advertise always fresh. The patties were very thin and perfectly formed. Also a bit rubber. Everything you would expect from a frozen patty. Overall not a very delicious burger. Very bland and heavily reliant on the extra junk on it. This is by far nowhere near as delicious as 5 guys.

I had the single BBQ Bacon Chedder Burger & I quite enjoyed it. The fries are great… especially with the Bay Seasoning they provide. I like my fries really spiced so I put black pepper on it also. It’s good. It comes in a choice of 3 sizes so you can have as much or as little you’d like. There are adequate options for kids & mine seemed to enjoy it(one son had a grilled cheese & the other had a corn dog). The husband had a grilled chicken sandwich & his commentary was, «I’ve had better… you know, the chicken was a little dry.» He’s picky, but take it as you will. The service. It’s not the best, but they mean well. The cashier was a little scattered brained & got our simple order wrong…“you only ordered one set of fries… oh yeah… another set of fries is coming.” Okay, I forgive her, I’m easy like that. Be prepared for a bit of a wait for the food as well… but I told myself it was because they make everything fresh & it just takes awhile. I love the location as well.

Sis: I need you to check out this joint and tell me what you think… I told this guy you Unilocaled and he was like, «I’m not getting any love from Unilocal.» I dunno why people think it sucks, but I love their burgers! Me: *sigh* I guess so…(rolls up sleeves) I went here with my son to meet up with my mother and sister for lunch. $ 6.35 for a double swiss? That’s not bad, and a large portion to boot. «Maryland style» your fries with a step by step formula? Sure I’ll try it, I’m a sucker for a taste of foreign culture. I know it’s not THAT foreign, but it’s still a different approach from conventional fries. Douse it with apple cider vinegar, generously pour seasoning and dip it in ketchup… Interesting. Even better, they have a «text to order» option for those who don’t have a long lunch break… how innovative. For a lunch rush, it wasn’t bad. Venue, not bad either… Then why is it averaging so low? There’s a formula BW is missing, and it might not be the food… Upon further review, it seems like the service and accomodation spearheads every determinant in this burger joint’s demoralizing ratings. For example, closing earlier than as it is indicated can chagrin the hungriest of patrons. You never know, that patron may have established quite the notable reputation in business review sites, a wordsmith and a beast in the world of Unilocal nevertheless. I see the problem for the business owner. Post-highschool runts looking to get a part time job so they have money to go watch Miley Cyrus or whatever the heck they’re into these days. The outcome? The«IDGAF, it’s a paycheck» attitude which is accompanied by service only the DMV can love… Solutions? Maybe the kids that work there should receive more incentives to want to work later. Or maybe a more responsible shift supervisor and not the«buddy» to his coworkers type… or the owner can just sack up, suck it up, and get his hands dirty for a bit till he builds up some serious clientele AND dependable staff… I DID genuinely like my burger and fries… but I’ll probably come back to check for consistency.

Ok I came in for a quick lunch to take back to the office to eat since I spent my lunch hour shopping at the Rack. I remember always hitting up this place in the mall for some yummy fries. I never had their burgers before and I knew just having fries was not going to hold me over till dinner so I got their Bacon Blue which consisted of lettuce, tomatoes, crumbled blue cheese, bacon and grilled onions. I luv a stinky blue and some of that on a burger would be great so I thought… First off there was only 3 people working there. 2 manning the grill and putting the burgers together and one at the register taking the order and bringing it out to the guests and cleaning the tables. Although it wasn’t extremely crowded I can see how backed up it would get with this one dude doing 3 jobs. At least he was washing his hands. Sanitation is very important! So back to the burger? Really, because there isn’t much to say. It was just OK to the point of it not mattering whether the blue cheese was in it or not. Same goes with the fries. I honestly don’t remember how it tasted back then but I do believe it had to be better than what I was getting cuz this batch of fries just wasn’t doing it for me. This was not yummy or good, it was MEH!

Not bad for a quick bite at MetroPointe. I don’t know why the reviews are so low but when the bf and I decided to try it out, we found the food to be ok. The bf ordered a turkey burger with a wheat bun, swiss, lettuce, tomato, grilled onion and honey mustard; I ordered a hot dog with grilled onion & mushroom and we shared an order of fries. What I liked was the wide selection of toppings for build your own burgers/hot dogs/chicken sandwiches. I also like how they cook it right when you order it and that the food is not just sitting out all day long. The turkey burger was decent… patty was a bit thin but it wasn’t dry at all. The hot dog was good too… they grilled it nicely and sliced it open and grilled the inside as well. The fries were pretty good… nice and crunchy. The grilled onion was the only disappointment… they were still too crunchy/stiff for my liking. Overall, it’s a good quick place to eat… I’d eat here again if shopping in the plaza.

Unilocal is a scam, ey? Ha or so management claims under the announcement part of this Unilocal page I definitely should have checked the Unilocal reviews before coming to this joint… I would not have gone Here’s a real review for ya… Came here for lunch with a friend today after doing some shopping. We were looking for something new to try, and the prices seemed pretty reasonable so we gave it a shot. Firstly, we noticed when walking in it was super stuffy inside and smelt slightly funky. This should’ve been an indication to go somewhere else, but I was starving so I ordered the chicken tenders and my friend ordered the southwest chicken sandwich. Also, as we walked out to the patio because the inside of the establishment was unbearable, I noticed a foursquare check-in special. I checked in. No special offer, nothing. hmmm. Anyway, the wait was reasonable, which was nice. The food came, and the man who brought it was pretty nonchalant. It’s interesting to mention that the chicken tender plate is advertised as having a variety of dipping sauces, which include ketchup, bbq, honey mustard, ranch, and perhaps some I am leaving out. The plate had nothing. So of course I walked in to ask the workers for condiments. In exact words, I asked the man«hey, I’m sorry to bother you, but don’t the chicken tenders come with condiments?» and almost accusingly, I got a «um.well what’dyou want» …like it was My fault that I didn’t get what the plate was advertised to come with. So I tell him what I wanted and I wait around to see him joke with his colleagues about random stuff. Finalyl, he realizes I’m still standing there and looks at me and says half-coldly«I’ll bring it out.» Okay, yeah I know this wasn’t a make-it our break it moment or anything, but it’s little details like getting what an establishment advertises that makes(or breaks) a restaurant’s reputation. Anyway, as far as the food goes, the burger was mediocre, but there was a weird consistency with the sauce, which ended up practically dripping/pouring all over my friend’s tray. The chicken tenders were kind of whatever. They weren’t dripping with oil, which was a plus. They remind me of the kids meals from Mac. Grill. But what I found disgusting were the fries. I don’t know if it was an off day, I don’t know if it was the fact that they cook with peanut oil, but both my friend and I had maybe two, and could not eat any more. .they were that disgusting.

I only had the fries and they were BLEH unless you added the seasoning stuff they have in a box over by the soda machines. Late night snack for the boyfriend. Will not return!

We changed our mind last minute about a movie we were going to watch so we bought tickets and have an hour wait so we stroll on in to this spot. My burger fetish should be well known so I’m going to spare you the history lesson. Ordered: Boardwalk burger w/grilled onions, swiss cheese, green peppers, mayo and mustard. Med fries and side of mushrooms. Okay first thing that we see is a negative… Strike one, I get two top buns(pic attached)…yeah sesame seeds on both sides. I’m an adventurous one so I go for it… too much bread as the gf anticipated. Strike two, green peppers are green bell peppers and not green peppers. Who puts crunchy bell peppers in a burger?! Strike three, the burger is small… the bun overtakes it… especially with two top buns! This place has some promise though, condiments of ranch and 1000 island as well as the side of mushrooms were given for free. With a little more attention to detail and some major improvements in the kitchen this can be something special. Good luck.

I couldn’t decide between the BBQ Bacon Cheddar or the Mushroom Swiss burgers, so I ordered the Mushroom Swiss on wheat, and got a container of BBQ sauce on the side. When I unwrapped the burger, it looked pretty delicious. For some reason, the lone piece of bacon wasn’t ON the burger. It was off to the side. It was a really thick slice. I put it on the burger where it belonged. It looked so good I almost didn’t take the time to snap a photo before chomping into it. Meat was thick and well, meaty. Lettuce was a single large deep green leaf. Tomato, grilled onions, mushrooms, and Swiss cheese were all present and accounted for. And doing nothing for my taste buds. I didn’t know I was going to have to season my own food. Normally I’m ticked that food is too salty. Boardwalk is well on the other side of the spectrum. No salt. No seasoning. Since the burger was rather dry and sauceless, I slathered the burger with the BBQ sauce and ate it. It felt good in my mouth. It just didn’t taste like much without the BBQ sauce. My burger buddy also mentioned that his burger was dry. Park in the northernmost parking garage for the Metro Point shopping center. Boardwalk Fresh is at the northernmost point of Metro Point, so it’s easier to park in that garage than to park in the garage on the south side of the shopping center. When you go, make sure to ask for extra sauce, or take some sauce with you on the side. And grab some salt. I don’t know if I’d go there again.

10÷5÷2010 The place was alright but they sure give u a lot of fries with the chicken tenders! The service was very good. but the food was not as impressive… I was slightly disappointed and am considering giving this place one more chance to see if they can redeem themselves. but I haven’t gotten around to going back the past few months…

So, we had to try this place because we had an Entertainment Book coupon and heard lots of cool things about this place moving in from other states. We had to try their fresh hand cut fries with chili on the side. Alas, I was disappointed. I guess I like my fries only fried once and not multiple times in different temperatures like they do. They are quite crunchy but I still prefer IN-N-OUT fries which are softer. The chili is actually a bit bland. I have to say it probably needed more salt, but I’m sure there’s a ton of salt in that chili already. They have Old Bay Seasoning and Vinegar to season your fries, and I expect they would taste better that way. As for the burger, it’s not too bad. I really do like burger customization. The fact that I can get a burger on a wheat bun, is really great. I choose a single patty on wheat with mayo, mustard and chili… and unlimited toppings of everything except for the jalapeño peppers and relish. So, my burger had: lettuce, white onions, grilled onions, red onions, tomatoes, sautéed mushrooms, green peppers, and last but not least, pickles. Yeah, it fell apart because the bun was soft and broke apart, but also I just had way too much stuff in there. But it tasted pretty good though. If I come back, I probably won’t get the fries again, but I will most likely get the same, exact customized burger that I just got, again.

The food here is decent. Just decent. I’m SO thrilled that Unilocalers agree with me. My bf and friends RAVE about this place all the time and proclaim them to have the BEST fries in the world. No. I don’t think so. The first trip there, it was about half hour before closing on a weeknight. I guess the workers there were tried because our food was sub-par. The fries were a bit cold, but my chicken tenders were fine. I was really reluctant to go back again, but I did. I wasn’t really hungry so I asked if I could get a cup of chili. The cashier said sure and tacked it onto our order for multiple people. My cup off chili was a «side» of chili… it was a depressing little condiments cup. I looked at the receipt and it was $ 0.25, haha. FML. The fries, I’ll admit, were better this time. But better does not = best.(My recommendation for the best fries is Café Japengo in San Diego!) Anyway, I’m not willingly going to go back to this place until I’m outvoted. I’d much rather go to In-N-Out and save a few bucks too.

This is a new place that just opened at Metro Point. They serve burgers, wraps, hot dogs and more. I tried the chicken honey mustard wrap and the honey mustard sauce was really sweet. You have to order fries separately and I had ordered the medium size to split with a friend. The medium size is huge so you probably don’t need to order a large size fries unless you are in a group. The food here is alright but overpriced. It might be worth trying if you are at Metro point but I wouldn’t make a special trip to eat here. Also, they gave us our order to go even though we were eating there and they seemed to be doing that to everyone. I just thought it was a little weird.
