My favorite Chinese food. Ever. They have the best chicken fried rice and love that the orders come with donuts. The service is always great, they are so nice. Just moved here and glad to of found this place. Better than any fast food Chinese I’ve had.

Bland brown rice! I was hoping to be able to find a decent Chinese place in Culpeper. I unfortunately did not find it here the food overall was bland lacked any seasoning just blah Americanized Chinese food.

Ordered from China Inn for the first time. My family and I had 5 different items and I would give one star to all, but one item. So let’s break it down. Crab Ragoon — Both the filling and the crust was terrible. There was no dipping sauce. And the overall shape was really awkward. It was like a spider web, which made it difficult to figure out how to eat it to get to the filling. Fried Dumplings — The wrap was spot on, but the meat inside the dumpling was terrible. It was very dry and rubbery and the meat itself tasted inferior to the other Chinese restaurants I’ve had in Northern VA(Woodbridge, Fairfax, etc.). Sesame Chicken — I’ve never seen Sesame Chicken like this before. The sauce was off, chicken was overcooked(a reoccurring theme at this place). It didn’t look or taste like Sesame Chicken is supposed to. Tried to figure out if they had mistakenly given us something else by mistake? Was completely baffled by this one? Moo Shui Pork — This was the saving grace of the entire order. It was exactly what it was supposed to be taste and texture wise. Chicken Fried Rice — Overcooked, dry. They order came with some mini fried doughnuts. They were ok. I’ve had better at other places, but these certainly weren’t bad. OVERALL: China Inn charges prices comparable to other Chinese Restaurants in Northern VA(Fairfax, Woodbridge, etc.), but there food isn’t comparable. In fact, it’s way below par. — My order total was $ 42 and for what I paid and what I got, I would never order from there again. The food at China Inn is equivalent to the Chinese food you would get at a mall food court version.

I am still a HUGE #1 fan of this place and by far the most frequent place I hit up when in Culpeper. They know us by now. Hubby and I have discovered we can split an order of their General Tso’s chicken — the best I’ve ever had and ask for combination fried rice instead of white rice and be charged only $ 3 extra. So for the two of us, a hefty lunch after church runs about $ 12 for both of us and that includes an order of egg rolls. And being eat in, we are brought a plate of oranges and fried sugared dough-things. Very yummy. Takeout and I always find a bag of those included. I should try other things, but with General Tso’s chicken so good I crave it, why get anything else?

We had not been to Culpeper in a while and thought that we would try this place. The service was good and the staff was extremely attentive. There were not a lot of people in there.(Note: That should have been my first clue!) The food… oh, the food. I had the general tso chicken and it was probably the worst that I have ever eaten. I don’t know if it was the sauce which tasted kind of burnt or the chicken that DIDN’T TASTELIKECHICKEN! My brother had the chicken lo mein and said that the noodles were mushy. This is a small town with not alot of options, but there are definitely better chinese places. Don’t waste your money. :(

Well the only thing I have had from here is the chicken lomein and it’s mediocre at best… the chicken was extremely dry which ruined the meal. It was nice that they thru in Chinese donuts which were actually really good. Maybe I will try a different dinner one day, but not any time soon. I had to change this to 1 star about an hour later, this food tore my stomach up, I knew something didn’t taste right

Consistently excellent food and warm friendly service. The chicken dishes are superb. Sauces are very tasty and generous. I particularly enjoy the curried chicken. It is savory without being too spicy hot. Tonight we enjoyed the Cashew Chicken. It was very tasty and a very generous portion. I highly recommend this restaurant as the best Chinese food in Culpeper County.

Just picked up takeout from this place. DISGUSTING. How do you burn won ton soup? Sheesh. Seriously, no one could eat their meals and they went into the trash. Wine and cheese and crackers for dinner. At least the movie was good.

For carry out I love this place. Good price, good selection. Their crispy duck is amazing along with their chicken and cashews. Only draw back I really have is their loiw main needs some work. I’m a huge loiw main fan when it comes to carry out. Amazing décor, kinda iffy on the jewelry counter and jewelry displays they have around the register. Thankfully their not over the top or in bad taste. I’ve been in one night pick-up an order while a gentleman was making some necklaces. So everything is hand made, reasonably priced and relatively attractive. Plus, some of the pieces are fresh water pearls.

I ended up at China Inn yesterday when I discovered that Thai Culpeper was closed on Mondays :(I’m not a huge fan of Chinese, and I had my mouth all set for Thai. Anyhow, I saw a sign on the door that China Inn received some kind of award, so I figured it’d be good. I was greeted immediately by a friendly host and taken care of pronto. As I waited for my shrimp egg foo young, I took note of the jewerly counter, which I meant to look at but never did. I also noted the Thank You notes on the walls from area schools. China Inn’s got it figured out! Support the kids! I don’t know what they do, but clearly they’re community oriented, which is awesome. A gigantic portion of shrimp egg foo young arrived just slightly later than anticipated. This portion could easily feed two, perhaps even three. So in terms of value, this was definitely a win. In terms of taste, it needed salt, pepper and soy sauce. It wasn’t awful, but it wasn’t amazing, either. In summary: average food, excellent service, community oriented, clean and open décor. A-ok!

We got a menu in the mail from China Inn & saw that they delivered, so we thought we’d give it a try one night for something new. I ordered the shanghai spring rolls and the beef curry with fried rice. My husband ordered the white meat general tso’s chicken with egg rolls and steamed rice. The shanghai spring rolls were not the best shanghai rolls I’ve ever had(China Jade in Warrenton!), but they were good. The beef curry was awesome! Flank steak with curry spices and veggies. The fried rice left a little to be desired, but I ended up mixing it with my beef curry & some soy sauce & it was fine. My husband’s white meat general tso’s was good also. I had enough left over for lunch the next day & it was great re-heated as well. We will definitely order from here again!

I’ve lived in a handful of cities around the US, and this is mediocre Chinese food, at best. Even for an American version of Chinese food, it isn’t good. The flavors are not authentic, and they aren’t very tasty at all. Honestly, the kind of Chinese food I can get in a mall food court is far better than this. I wish it were better because Culpeper doesn’t have much, but this isn’t worth the money or the time.

China Inn has some of the best Chinese food I’ve eaten — bar none. The service has always been excellent and our family enjoys going to this gem of Culpeper.

Definitely a fan. We’ve eaten in and had delivery and both are good. We have ordered most of the things off of the vegetarian menu and haven’t been disappointed yet. The free included donuts don’t hurt either!

We enjoyed a wonderful lunch here today on our first visit ever to China Inn. The restaurant is quiet, immaculate, and comfortable. Nice for small groups or large. No buffet here and that’s a good thing. Our server was very friendly and attentive and gave us complimentary hot tea. We ordered 3 different dishes: chicken chow mein, vegetables with shrimp, and broccoli and tofu with garlic sauce. We were pleasantly surprised at the generous servings! All 3 dishes were very tasty and were accompanied by won ton chips. Prior to the meal we were served an egg roll which was fresh and crisp. Our server was thoughtful enough to bring a vegetarian roll to one person in our group. The food was presented in an attractive way and was piping hot! Just the way it should be. We will definitely eat here again.

China Inn is our hands down favorite out of Culpeper’s current«gang of 9» Asian restaurants. That’s not saying it’s an excellent example of Chinese cuisine — just the best & most reliable of the lot. Since it opened just a couple of years ago, we’ve both dined in & frequently gotten takeout with both good & poor experiences. I’ll move down through the menu with some highlights: Vegetarian Sping Rolls are good, but except for the filling, no different from regular Egg Rolls. Wonton Soup has an odd flavor to it, & the wontons have an equally odd texture. Egg Drop Soup is excellent — primarily due to the dollop of sesame oil they add to it. Hot & Sour Soup is «okay». Szechaun String Beans are limp & sad — not worth it. Kung Pao Two Kinds is nice. Half shrimp/half chicken in a spicy sauce, IF you tell them that you do want it SPICY. Phoenix Crown with Prawns is also nice — Jumbo shrimp & sea scallops with mushrooms & broccoli(Yu-Shiang Shrimp and Scallops is the spicy version) Yu-Ling Duck — this was HORRIBLE! Supposed to be «half a peking duck cut into chunks and served with a tasty Yu-Ling sauce». The sauce notwithstanding, what we received was not only NOT a half a duck, but half of the duck chunks we did receive were pure fat with about ¼″ of meat attached, along with other pieces of totally meat-free backbone!!! It was skeletal & surreal — what the heck could they have been thinking? Unfortunately, since this was takeout on a late night, I wasn’t up to returning it, but boy did I consider it, & will certainly never order that again. Singapore Rice Noodles — average for this favorite dish of mine. Believe it or not, the cheaper Top’s China does a spicier job. Anyway, bottom line is we’ve had many other dishes here that were just fine, if not spectaular. I’ve pretty much given up on finding«spectacular» Chinese food out in the hinterlands, & find it a shame that out of 7⁄9(one is exclusively Japanese; one exclusively Thai) Asian restaurants that not one has the guts to go outside the comfort of the box. And by that I don’t mean Bird’s Nest & Shark’s Fin soups, etc., etc. — but just offering true Chinese dishes cooked the way I try to make them myself at home, not just adhering to the same old commercial Chinese restaurant template. Sigh.
