The one and only time I came I really, really enjoyed the beans and rice; REALLY. Then, there’s the rest of the story. Customer service sucked in that it was somewhat non-existent borderline nonchalant malaise. The main course was spot on mediocre at best. And unless you’re some stay at home partner imbibing wine with their bff while unwatched little ones trape about the restaurant, then I don’t have the time to wait while you’re warming up boxed frozen filets. So I hope you guys learned something. Try again and take the lessons to your next and better prepared endeavor. Seriously, GOODLUCK.

What a great day ruined! First day in two weeks it’s not raining here in Atl(not typical)! I was so excited to sit on a patio and drink margaritas! So excited that I paid $ 20 for a small pitcher of margs that had 0(zero), none, nada tequila! And to add insult to injury, I was trying to shake salt onto my chips(go ahead judge), but no salt would come out, so I opened the salt shaker and it was rusted!!! I wish I had taken a picture. When I informed my waitress, she apologized and I watched her tap out the rusty salt and wipe it with the same cloth she used to wipe down the tables and the handed the same shaker back to me. Needless to say I will not be back!!! Bummer, because I live so close and thy have such an awesome patio! Get it together Dos Madres, you could be a great competitor for your across the street naigneighbor.

THis is a tough location being right across Taqueria Del Sol. Everything here reeks texmex(Chi Chi’s) and cheese cheese cheese. The fish tacos were very bready, limited vegetarian(unless cheese counts) selection. The service(young girl in College) was great, but otherwise I will not return. The prices were quite high for the quality of the food. The margaritas were toxic tasting. This place is a great location for a restaurant but unfortunately, most don’t seem to stay too long. …

Yup this place is three stars. The food sadly isn’t that good. Just not tasty mexican food :(how hard can it be. I have been here twice. The first time, the service was quite terrible, possibily the worst service i have had in a long time. The second time it was much better. I will probalby go back, just because it is a mexican restaurant. Pros: Free chips and salsa Beer Cons: small drinks

This places food was awful. If I could give it less than one star, I would. My sister came in from out of town and we had a family dinner here. First of all; our service was crap, and really slow for an empty restaurant on a Saturday. Our food was almost inedible. I ordered a tortilla soup that was bland, and well… Sloppy for lack of a better term. My family ordered the steak and beside being burnt to a crisp was described to me as «old shoe leather.» Last but not least, it was over priced as hell. We left a table full of food and our meal should’ve been comped. What a waste! Don’t waste your time on this place, there’s such better Mexican food in Atlanta.

Had a Scout Mob to try this restaurant… food was ok. but was told that they no longer accept Scout Mob… WHAT??? If that’s the case, then remove it from the Scout Mob site… You can’t have it both ways: get me to come in because of Scout Mob and then tell me I can’t use it… doesnt work that way. Going back to Taqueria Del Sol across the street.

First off, the food is not bad. Not great, but not bad. Also, let me say our server was very attentive and very nice — but she was put in a position she should not have been put in. At the end of the meal when I let her know that we had a Scoutmob discount to use, she informed us that even though the deal was still up on the website — they were no longer honoring them! What!!! How do you even do that? Not cool at all, owners /management. Some sort of large sign at the entrance, at the table, a heads up before ordering, something. Needless to say, won’t be returning.

Decided to NOT wait in the line at Taqueria Del Sol as it was so hot this afternoon and try Dos Madres. My 9 year old daughter liked the kids menu, good choices for her palette. My son and I both had the carnitas tacos which were as good or better than Taqueria as of late. My wife who is Vegan enjoyed her portobella mushroom tacos. The only real downsides could be easily addressed. Server was a bit slow though place was empty then she proceeded to sneeze, cough at the table. The margaritas were good not great. Ambiance and vibe was pretty sterile, perhaps we were early and things are clicking a bit later. Will try again as it’s better than waiting in the hot sun across the street for 30 minutes.

Nice cold beer. Everything else I can’t comment on — we have been here for an hour and still no food! Before you ask — no it’s not cinco de mayo — it is a random Thursday night at 8pm… No excuse for such slow service. … One star because I have a cold beer. Update — we left without food and to a drive through … Kids were bummed

We have come back here to see whether the food has improved… Sadly no, the Nachos were comparable to Stadium Nachos at best, and my husband’s shrimp taco dish had the driest beans ever They use ingredients that just don’t taste fresh and flavorful to me. And we waited for a good 20 minutes to get water, salsa and silver ware. I had to ask numerous times for all the above and then simply got my own napkin. I do love their patio though.

After working up an appetite at the Toy Park, we took our two toddlers to Dos Madres for lunch. The weather was really nice so we sat on the front patio. The patio is elevated and far enough from the street that it created a really nice atmosphere for people watching without feeling too close to the street. Our server, Sparrow, was so sweet and clearly had experience with the younger clientele because she was ready for us to give our girls’ orders even though we didn’t know what we wanted yet. This is Decatur, so obviously the restaurant is kid-friendly and they offer a children’s menu, but I was pleasantly surprised with what our kids’ meals included. We ordered the quesadilla and Mexican pizza, which both came with the best fruit bowl I have seen accompany a kid’s dish and some delicious(o.k., I had to try one) tater tots. Our girls, who can seriously eat, couldn’t finish their meal there was so much food. Besides the great ambiance(to the extent there is an «ambiance» when you dine with three year olds). the grown-up food was really good too. My shrimp was fantastic and my husband got this insane-o nachos dish as his main course that was delicious(o.k., so I sampled everyone’s order) and was so huge that he barely ate anything for dinner. The food = delicious. The atmosphere = lovely. The kids = occupied by their food enough to let us eat. The price = totally a great value for the quality and quantity of food. We will definitely be back!

Have to say that I was a little disappointed with Dos Madres. Like many who have a poor experience with a business, I truly hope that it was a fluke or part of an off night. From the moment we walked in to departing, it was just a meal experience I wish I didn’t have. When we walked in, it was a little odd to see the layout of the restaurant. I don’t recall what was in place before Dos Madres, but I’m pretty sure it was a pizza place(attn: brick oven in the kitchen?) We walked up the host stand, where no one stood. After we looked around for a minute or so, a server walked up and asked if we were dining in. Yes? She was rather nice and showed us to a table. Not sure that having a host stand or area is really all that necessary. Now, I always appreciate chips and salsa as they hit the table at any Mexican restaurant, but these were pretty awful. The inconsistency was pretty astounding — tons of chips stuck together, half were only partially cooked, others were heavy over-fried, and the flavor was pretty awful. The salsa, however, was rather nice! They do seem to pride themselves on having a great list of margaritas and other beverages. Though none of us obliged, I’m sure it would be a great idea upon another visit. For my entrée, I decided to go with shrimp tacos. Since this is an item I typically wouldn’t order elsewhere, I wasn’t sure what my expectation should be. I wanted two tacos and both with flour tortillas. The plate came with rice and beans — both of which were pretty good. As soon as I bit into the first taco, I knew something was off. It was like biting into all of the right texture, with zero punch of flavor from the corn salsa or what you would expect to be flavorful, grilled shrimp. The only thing I tasted was the queso blanco and it was pretty horrible. It had some seriously pungent flavor and it masked any other hopes of other flavors playing with one another. I didn’t end up eating any more of them, unfortunately. My wife’s tacos, however, were great! Veggie tacos with a really great crema on top. To make matters a bit worse, our server wasn’t exactly present throughout our meal. She stopped by after our food was ready only to bring the check. Empty glasses aren’t a huge deal, but not exactly fun. I really wanted to like this place. After having such disappointing food, I can’t say I’d revisit. I really do want to give them another chance, though. Maybe if anything happens to change in the future.

Was so excited to try this place and it didn’t disappoint. The salsa was flavorful and the chips crunchy and delicious. I got the Baja style tacos and I usually don’t like corn tortillas but these were SOGOOD! Loved the delicate texture of the fish and the sauce was the best I’ve had since Jaws Taco in Maui! Also really REALLY appreciated all the family friendly details like the placemats with plenty of drawing room on the back and changing tables in BOTH restrooms! Will be going back for sure!

Warm and friendly staff Not too authentic but the food was good overall The chips and salsa were tasty(ask for a verde salsa with tomatillo). We had the trio appetizer… Portions were tiny and the cheese was not warm(it was full of a thick skin)… But the guacamole was fresh and full of tomatoes and onions — very good! I started my apps with a grapefruit margarita — for $ 9 I expected a drink that packed a punch … Unfortunately It was more like a girl fight slap– not strong at all, it was like a fizzy glass of grapefruit juice I opted to have a Dos Equis draft with my entrée — the Baja fish tacos This plate went 50÷50… The beans and rice were cold, old and unappealing. They were black beans stewed for hours less any salt and the rice was flavorless and hard But the fish… The fish was crisp and cooked to perfection in a beer batter. It was served on a crisp and tasty corn tortilla(flour is an option). This is the one thing that stood out from other restaurants… Try the fish … If nothing else

After reviewing the menu and reading the reviews, I was excited to try this place. And I really wanted to like it, but there were just too many things not right. We went for dinner, and all the tables were full. After a short wait, we were seated by the maitre’d(the manager)? As he handed us the menus, I said«This is our first visit, and I’ve heard great things about your salsa verde. Can we get some with our chips?» To which he replied, «No, it’s only available with our Los Tres Amigos, which comes with guacamole and queso.» Fair enough. We weren’t hungry for all that and expressed our disappointment that we couldn’t just get a side of salsa. He said«The salsa IS really good, that’s why we have to charge extra for it.» Um, OK, first impressions here… maybe just bring out a small sample and mention that it’s on dishes x, y, and z, or bring a small side and charge for it. It just rubbed me the wrong way, especially for a restaurant that’s brand spanking new and this is our first impression… Then we wait, and wait, for our waiter to show up. We hadn’t received a drink menu initially, so requested one from our waiter. The menu is pretty limited — despite having a wall full of tequila behind the bar, there is one margarita option on the menu? I ordered it and it was pretty tasty, but they might want to consider expanding their options. Complimentary chips and salsa were good. Chips were light and crispy, salsa had a nice smoky flavor to it. We ordered fajitas, carne asada tacos, and portobello tacos. Salsa verde was as proclaimed — delicious. However, the corn tortillas with our tacos were really greasy, so I scooped out the filling and left the tortillas. I mentioned it to the waiter, and he said«We lightly fry our tortillas.» Yes, obviously, but that doesn’t mean they should be an oily mess on my plate! I liked the beans, fresh bean-y flavor, though others at the tables thought they were bland. Rice was meh. The fajitas were the best thing at the table — a large, well-seasoned portion of meat and veggies served with fluffy flour tortillas. My husband said he’d give it another try… me, I’m not so sure. Cut down on the oil and expand the margarita menu, and I’ll think about it.

I have been excited about any restaurant opening in Decatur as of late, so I was just as excited about this new Mexican restaurant opening in a prime location downtown. It all started when we walked into a completely empty restaurant on Friday after lunch beside one guy sitting at the bar. We thought the guy was being a jerk when he tried to send his soup back and get it taken off the menu because he didn’t like it. Then, our food came. Unfortunately, our chips weren’t done all the way(chewy). If you can’t get chips and salsa right at a Mexican place, you have issues. My fish tacos were very soggy… not crispy at all. My dining partners chicken in his quesadilla was not grilled as ordered and the bread was wet and soggy. Black beans were«meh» and the rice seemed funky. I was also disappointed to find out that, although there seemed to be a bar with a bartender… there was only 1 «house» margarita that you could order. Hopefully they get it figured out before it gets nice enough to sit on that porch.

This has been a favorite space for me in Decatur, mainly because of Garlic Thai and Sushi’s tenure. I’m happy to see it occupied again after the previous tenant closed. The layout hasn’t changed much if at all, so the comfy booths remain. Not a large menu, is it? And vegetarians might struggle to survive. Black bean soup, a salad and portobello tacos, I suppose. But I’m not vegetarian, so … Chips & salsa: I’d say just about perfect chips. Salsa is flavorful but needs some kick. If they have a spicier version, it should be listed on the menu as an option. I hate asking. Guacamole: Wonderful. The addition of corn sprinkled on top probably isn’t necessary for this to be a great example of guacamole, but it adds interest. And you get a goodly amount, unlike at some other places where they first fill the bowl halfway with shredded lettuce. Baja Pescado: If I understand correctly, this is the same fish you get in their fish tacos, a dish others have mentioned as being very good. In any case, the Baja Pescado really hit all the right notes with me. Perfectly prepared fish over a bed of goat cheese corn. I was full about halfway through but soldiered on, not wanting to leave a bite on the plate. This is great food. Margaritas: A little disappointing but not bad. The small glass is chockablock with ice so you don’t get much margarita(particularly for the price), and they are somewhat stingy with the tequila. That said, I really don’t need to be drinking the gigantic, takillya-rich margaritas of my youth. But I prefer Bone Garden Cantina’s version, for example. Service was outstanding and the ambiance perfect.

Loved this new Mexican restaurant in town. Things to note: — EASY parking(there’s a lot right there!) — Cute atmosphere — Kid friendly — DELICIOUS free chips & salsa — Great los tres amigos — Hubby got the carnitas tacos. Amazing, especially with the pineapple. — I got the chicken fajitas. I have never had such incredibly tender chicken in my fajita before! Love the cherry tomatoes too! — Be sure to save room for the flan for dessert. It was so creamy, decadent, and perfectly paired with a bit whipped cream. The caramel flavor was AMAZING! We could tell it’s a new business. At times, it took a bit of time for food to come out. But I’m sure service will get better. That being said, everyone was super friendly and helpful. Definitely a great place to check out. They have a nice outdoor patio in front that’ll be nice to check out once the weather gets warmer. We’ll be back!!!

Do yourself a favor and order the daquiri. You won’t get a typical, sugar loaded strawberry cup of diabeetus. You’ll get a clean, simple, and delicious cocktail that will forever raise the bar on what you consider a «good daquiri». I wish they had a happy hour, I’d come back just for that! But, beyond that, their guacamole is delicious, the chips are free, and their fish tacos are the REAL. DEAL. Clean, flaky whitefish, fried but not too greasy, with the perfect amount of salsa+veggies+sauce. I wasn’t as impressed with the carne asada taco, or the ceviche(the shrimp tasted pre-cooked instead of cooked in citrus juices), but its a brand new restaurant, with a caring staff and an owner that comes to visit every table to introduce himself. I think this restaurant will do well. Fingers crossed that they roll out some posole, some lobster tacos, and some happy hour action… I’ll be keeping an eye on them and will be back for sure!!!
