40 minutes from being seated to paying the check. Why? In my opinion the fast food service may be that the food is prepared then MICROWAVED! My first dish, the fish, i returned. Vegetables were cold and potatoes were hard and very cold in the center. Second dish, very hot on the outside and just warm in the center. Clearly a microwaved dinner. The seating! Terrible. Sardines in a can. I was seated closest to the aisle and EVERY passing waiter bumped into me. Not a very relaxing environment. We had been to this restaurant on another occasion with friends and I am not sure why we went back. The view is ok. Not really ocean. If people watching is your thing, then you would like this place. There were four in our party during this visit and we all felt the same. Not sure what keeps this place in business. But at this point, it doesn’t matter. We won’t be returning.

I just wanted to say this was our 1st and last time I will ever come to this place. The service is slow and horrible. The fried calamari was disgusting We had said something to the manager who then asked what do you want me to do about. Really

Any one in the area should try Caffe Luna Rosa! The food was amazing– a perfect twist on Italian cuisine. We started with the calamari which was cut differently than I’ve ever tried but an all together delight with yummy sauces: a flavorful marinara along with a creamy option(I forgot to ask what it was) but both paired great after a splash of lemon. The owner Nicola was out on the floor the whole time– a true sign of a great restaurant– so we asked for his opinion and he recommends the SCAMPONI. What a delicacy! I’ve never seen shrimp so huge! We also got the beef tenderloins which were cooked to perfection. On top of that the service was excellent. Every server and even bus boy were attentive and eager to help. The ONLY issue we had was with the valet. It was a typical rainy Florida night and the valet is two blocks away so we got wet anyway coming in and out… I asked if the valet could pull around to pick us up and I got a flat«No». Besides that, I am so glad I brought my dad here for Father’s Day. Fit for a king.

Caffe Luna Rosa’s draw is the view, not the food, which is not to say that the food is bad. The dishes that I enjoyed – Eggplant Rollatini and Escarole with White Beans – were tasty. It is difficult however for an Italian place to rise above the fray since there are so many Italian restaurants in the Boca-Delray area. One of the nicest parts of the meal was the basket of a sesame seed crusted Italian loaf slices and pot of garlic confit that came to the table after one of my friends requested them. Slathering the garlic and drizzling the oil on the crusty bread was the highlight of the meal somehow. I do hope to visit Caffe Luna Rosa again and sample more dishes than the two I tried on this first visit.

Went for brunch on a Saturday. Only had a 15 minute wait to sit inside(which was worth it because it stated getting warm). The server took a while to help us but was fine the rest of the time. Food was ok. The eggs Benedict was presented messy but eggs were cooked correctly. The French toast was large and came with fresh fruit. Overall a good experience but food for breakfast was nothing special

There is no other place I rather dine. The breakfast lunch and dinner are amazing. I love the linguini and clams. They make there own pasta. Server Sean is great as well as bartender Rosie. An awesome view of the beach makes this place even better!

Don’t let the crowds fool you. While Atlantic Avenue in Delray has a wide selection of places to enjoy a great meal, there are not too many casual spots to choose from on the beachfront. Caffe Luna Rosa is pricey, and mediocre at best. I ordered the(Mahi Mahi Chopped Salad($ 17). The portion controlled piece of previously frozen fish was dry, overcooked, and frankly, overpriced. Two others at our table ordered different iterations of eggs Benedict. Instead of poached eggs, the dishes were topped with nearly hardboiled eggs. Service was somewhat disjointed, and parking is $$$$$ You’ll be better off walking a few blocks off the beach to seek out a place on Atlantic Ave.

Our party of three gave this place a try for brunch primarily due to the beach proximity. We waited about 45 minutes for a table, which was fine considering the Sunday rush. We were seated inside where the tables are tightly packed, causing the food runners to bump our table as they passed to bring others their food. We ordered bloody Marys which were disappointingly flavorless — after we doctored them with hot sauce and ground pepper they were passable. Two of ordered the eggs Benedict. My companion’s poached eggs were poached solid — not what one is looking for from a busy brunch place that must turn at least a hundred orders of eggs Benny during a busy brunch. While the waiter did promptly offer to bring newly poached eggs, we had to wait at least 15 minutes for them to brought out. Service itself was, as other commenters have pointed out, indifferent. We felt our $ 60 bill accurately reflected our experience: disappointing and took way too long to be delivered. Our overall impression of the restaurant is that it’s a great location and the restaurant can skate by with mediocre food and service because they know they will have a steady stream of patrons from foot and beach traffic. These patrons, however, will never be returning and will recommend against others stopping in. We will continue our search for a good, friendly brunch in a near-beach location because this place does not fill the bill.

Good solid food Good solid service in a pleasant atmosphere There’s not a lot to say about this longstanding place that hasn’t been said I found everything to be fresh and well prepared . Even if slightly under seasoned. Nice casual place for a nice casual meal with friends and family I don’t think till be wowed But you won’t be disappointed either No real low points But The key lime pie is excellent As is the tiramisu The braised lamb shank was also excellent By far the best dish on the table if 9 It was brought to my attention that Unilocal is now counting 3 star reviews as poor That is extremely unfair to any good business as 3 stars is a solid average rating If Unilocal wishes to count 3 as poor and doesn’t see fit to add a half star rating As they should from now on I will need to adjust up Can I Unilocal … Unilocal

We went to Luna Rosa for happy hour. Nice atmosphere across from the ocean. Drinks are half-priced with a reduced food selection menu at Happy Hour. Alli our server was very bubbly & able. The bar was filled. We ordered our drinks. The Chocolate Expresso –topped with fresh cream — Martini, was outstanding as was the super large Mojito. Superlative meatballs, a diversified antipasto and tasty wonton completed our satisfying experience at this Delray winner. They will definitely see us return!

Came here last night for dinner with 2 friends. Although it was very breezy out, we sat at an outside table which is protected by plastic covering so the breeze feels good instead of annoying. Service and food was great. We all shared the antipasto appetizer which was huge and plentiful. The pasta bolognese was delicious. All homemade pasta. We also shared the pollo con pancetta chicken dish which was also plentiful and delicious.

Great spot next to the beach for breakfast, very different but enticing menu. Casual but very nice. Service was outstanding ! Can’t see anything wrong with this place.

I am a big fan of this place especially since it’s near the water. Brunch here is great and their bloody Mary’s are a delicious meal in a glass. If you go for brunch I highly recommend ordering the breakfast pizza. I’m not sure if they season it with angel dust, but it is heavenly. It comes with sausage, eggs, mushrooms, spinach and is big enough for two people to share. Also the smoke salmon Benedict is great. You have a nice option of indoor and outdoor seating. They also have a decent size bar to sit at. The place also looks like it would be a nice date night spot. I can’t wait to go back and check it out for dinner.

Update: The owner of the restaurant has been disputing my reviews on Unilocal and Trip Advisor(since deleted). One only has to go to Trip Advisor to see several similar reviews citing«uninspired food» and«apathetic servers.» For some reason he’s selected my review for debate when I’ve stated exactly what many other reviewers have. Yes, there are positive reviews but some people enjoy jarred sauces such as Ragu and Prego too. If you are looking for real authentic Italian fare, Luna Rosa will leaving you unsatisfied. Original post: Food and location are not the problem at this caffe; it’s the service. The restaurant is located across the street from the ocean. While there is no view of the water from the restaurant, the ocean breeze and smell is lovely. The front windows fold back to give a nice open feel. The indoor décor, however, leaves much to be desired. It’s dark and not in a cozy way. Have you ever seen a Rathskeller? A German pub cramped with dark furniture? But that’s not a deal breaker. For me the problem with the restaurant is the staff. The employees seemingly hate their jobs. The host snapped at my friend as she announced our arrival. He looked at her with what I interpreted as disdain and asked for our name. We were shown to a table and dropped off. Our servers came to the table with regularity but without any warmth or personality. They were doing what they were supposed to do without enjoying it. The bread dropped on the table was excellent and it was served with roasted garlic cloves! I enjoyed that! The chicken Marsala with creamy polenta was marvelous, but the other pasta dishes ordered were only good not great. With so many restaurants within a half mile on Atlantic avenue, why return here?

The chicken salad salad was incredible! It had the right mix of just about everything! The mango sangria was certainly too sweet(so I just ate more chicken salad). The wait staff was friendly and enjoyed making recommendations. Enjoyed sitting outside… Watching the traffic.

Attractive little restaurant located semi-beachside, rumor has it breakfast is the main attraction here with it’s choice of street side dining or the cozy air conditioned inside setting, there’s no doubt you’ll get the open air experience many have come to expect in these parts. If you’re looking for healthy choices they offer many; from Ezekiel Flourless Bread, Joey’s Fresh Gluten Free Whole Grain Bread, Eggland’s Best Cage-Free Eggs, Natural Fed Hormone and Steroid Free Chicken and Beef or their Vero Eco Friendly Bottled Water so you can feel good about yourself as you indulge in the wide assortment of omelettes, pancakes, waffles, French toast, breakfast meats, fresh squeezed juice and all the sides you’d expect and some that may surprise you. With all of that said they lack a very important element«service». After waiting more than 30 minutes to be seated with pager in hand and watching people wondering in off the street by-passing the process and the group of inattentive servers gathered around the hostess station, it was finally our turn, our server seemed uninterested, disconnected and put out from the moment she walked up to our table and walked away twice while we were in the middle of ordering, when we asked her to try and speak a few octaves above the extremely noisy crowd packed inside the restaurant it was apparent she was annoyed and that was the last we saw of her the kitchen brought out the food, someone else the drinks and another the check so there was no ownership of the customers, this really distracted us from enjoying the food as much as we should have. This experience really has me guessing if I’d return, it was very disappointing to see a place with such potential in every area over look the importances of customer service it’s apparent the kitchen is filled with talent the location is killer but lacks a management team that has the ability to pull it all together. It seems all the reviews less than four stars note bad service as the reason. I would of given this place a minimum of a four if the service was better.

7÷12÷2015− Sunday Funday Brunch, my favorite day and meal! I was looking for a place on Unilocal for Delray Beach. Luna Rosa came up and since it was on the beach, this is where we went. They offer Valet Parking for $ 5 for 2 hours. There was only a 15 minute wait. We were seated outside. It was a beautiful, sunny day at the beach and this place has a wonderful view. Our server got our drink order, I ordered the special mimosa which was the Red Blood Orange Mimosa. Another waiter, maybe a bus boy, brought us waters. We asked for straws… twice. When my drink came out, it was in a big wine glass, with a huge straw. It was filled with ice and it was watered down. As soon as I took a sip, I knew it had been sitting at the bar for a while. I sent it back and ordered a regular mimosa. When she brought it back, it was in a way smaller glass, basic mimosa, nothing special. So far I’m disappointed. There were no coasters, so our table kept getting wet from the drinks. I ordered the special of the day, Maine Lobster and Asparagus Eggs Benedict, 2 poached xl eggs on an toasted English muffin with fresh homemade hollandaise sauce and a crispy potato pancake. This was an excellent dish, lots of lobster chunks. It was perfect. We also ordered the Luna Rosa French Toast, thick texas toast cooked in our own batter of pure vanilla, egg, brown sugar, cinnamon and cream, served with certified organic warm maple syrup. It was your basic French Toast. * Location = 4 stars * Service mediocre= 1 star(Our waitress and bus boy had no personality) * Food= 3 stars(based on both dishes)

I have been to Luna Rosa too many time to count now. We really love the summertime pre-fix dinner nights. We usually go with a few different couples and make a night out of it. I will have to make a REAL review of this place when I have time. There is just too much to say! If you are looking for a place to eat on the beach this is the ONLY place in my opinion. Great food, awesome view… can’t beat it!

I love this place. It’s an unassuming right by the beach restaurant. Very unfussy. I sat outside and found it very relaxing. My cheeseburger was huge and cooked perfectly medium. The sweet potato fries were good and crispy. Ordered a mimosa, then got my next ones for $ 5. They were big glasses too! It can be a bit loud and busy, but half the people dining here are in their bathing suits. Just go with the flow, and then digest laying out on the beach!

We’ve now dined here for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner many times and it continues to be a go-to place in downtown Delray, especially when we have visitors in town. The location right across from the beach affords some subtle breezes which are MUCH appreciated in the Florida heat. This places gets crazy busy packed though during spring break when we’re «in season» AND tourists are visiting at the same time. Parking can be scarce, and when you do find parking, there can be quite a wait. A tip is to call 30 minutes in advance to make reservations. It will knock 30 minutes off your wait time, but be sure your entire party has arrived, and even then, be prepared to potentially wait until another 15 minutes or so to be seated unless you’ve arrived in the«off season». Once you’re seated, service is friendly, and the menu… ahhh…turn immediately to the last page where the cocktails are listed. I especially like their mimosas but friends say they make a mean bloody mary too! With it’s casual environment, vast menu for everyone, and location across from the sand, Caffe Luna Rosa will continue to be a go-to location!
