We were a party of four who visited at 8:30 on a Saturday evening. The place is huge and was bustling. While the food and service were adequate, I would not return because of the noise level was so high both in the restaurant proper and in the roofed terrace.

We met up w friends who delighted in taking us to this restaurant. The service was sub-par and slow. The food was less than desirable. Tasteless, served partially cooked, over salty antipasto. After reading the article below, glad I drank only water. No need to elaborate. Read this link.

Such Wonderful Food! We were skeptical at first but from the bread to the bill, everything was great– warm service, very high quality italian food, onsite parking… The ceasar salad was simple yet exceeded expectations for taste, and my chicken voldostano(or similar name) was perfect– tender, seasoned properly, and was a visual stunner! We liked the entire dining experience, and all 3 of us are ball busting foodies. I hope this place stays busy for many years.

I’ve read the other reviews and would like to add the following. — Service was good, especially our server Chris. — Food was not exceptional and mostly overpriced. — The restaurant was mostly empty on Friday night when you would it to be filled like most other restaurants in Delray. — Be careful of Rip Off prices. Don’t order anything unless you ask the price, You will be unpleasantly surprised when you get your check. The no-name hose wine was a small pour at a large price! — The final insult to injury was their«valet» parking fee. After tipping the attendant $ 3 to park my car in their mostly empty parking lot, he told me I owed them an additional $ 5.00 for parking. Are you kidding?!! — Recipe for failure: Mediocre food and hidden«rip-off» charges. Too bad, this used to be a good restaurant!

I ate here recently we were a party of six. We showed up at 9:30PM and had a fantastic experience. We were seated immediately and received great service. We ordered several appetizers all were delicious including the octopus, Calamari, and Buratta. You can’t go wrong. At first I wasn’t going to go because of the reviews I read on Unilocal. But I’m glad that I did. For dinner I had the pesto pasta and I added chicken. The portion was good and the pesto sauce with tasty. My husband had a salad I can’t remember the name but he also thoroughly enjoyed it. My friend at the table ordered the Pork Chop, Bolognese, The steak which smelled and looked delicious and the chicken Parmesan which was equally delicious looking. For dessert we had the tiramisu and gelato and quite frankly it was the best tiramisu I’ve ever had. Someone else at our table ordered another dessert that I don’t recall but it was ice cream that is covered in chocolate with a hardshell and he agreed that the tiramisu won. This was one of the first times I have given a restaurant with less than 3 stars a chance and I’m glad I did. I’ll be back!

Just ate at this restaurant, and it was not a good experience. Three of us had a reservation at 6:45, and they sat is right away. Chris was our waiter, nice enough guy. Salads were good, but it ended there. We waited an hour between our salads and our entrees! When they came out one of the meals was under cooked and missing key ingredients. We had to wait an additional 15 minutes for that meal to be brought out, in the mean time the rest of us were finished. The bill came without any discount– We will not be going back– too many better choices in Delray

After a craving for pizza hit, I took to Google to find something new that I could order for takeout. I came across the website for D’Angelo Trattoria and settled on two of their wood oven pizzas, the«Regina Margherita» for the kids and the«Diavola» for the adults. I called to place the order and was told a respectable amount of wait time, only 20 mins. Perfect. We hopped in the car and headed over to the ave. The building was really lovely, set off of Atlantic Ave’s east side and very charming. The décor inside was intimate, appeared to be a great place for a date night. We got there right around the 20 minute mark and our pizzas were not yet ready but no bother, we took a spot at the bar and waited. While waiting, I decided to add tiramisu and garlic rolls to our order. When everything came out, there was a box on top that looked smaller than the pizza box. I asked him to open it up so I could confirm that it was what I intended to order but it was a salad rather than a pizza. When I grabbed a menu from the bar to show them which pizza I meant to order(the Diavola) it was not on their printed menu. I had to pull out my phone and show them what was on their website. They no longer make that pie but he informed me that they would, «make something similar»… Again, no bother. I am not hard to please and so, we waited at the bar again. Once every thing came out, we paid the bill and headed out. The gentleman sitting at the bar next to us was eating a delicious looking bowl of prawns in a buttery garlic sauce. I was really looking forward to our food because from what I saw coming out of that kitchen… delizioso. I reached into the bag of takeout to snag one of the garlic rolls because at this point, I was starved. Doughy, flavorless, and tasted like something from the freezer section. This was not an Italian garlic roll. It was just a white roll that belonged paired with sandwich meats. Disappointment. The pizza was not an improvement. The bottom of the pie had the flavor of a wood oven grill but the top was mushy. We set our oven to 450 degrees and stuck the pizzas back in to crisp them up. Mucho better, but why should we have to do that? I could tell that this restaurant doesn’t get very busy based on the number of patrons inside while we waited. It was dead but I assumed it was because of their location. Just off the ave, hardly an foot traffic, on the east side where things seem to stay a lot quieter? But I have to assume it has to do with the food. While the service staff was friendly and eager to correct the order issue, the food was bland and the fact that their menu hasn’t been updated is very frustrating. I may have ordered the wrong thing. maybe their pizzas aren’t what they are good at and if that is the case, that is fine. but those rolls? They should be taken off the menu entirely… As for the tiramisu? Perfetto. Update: After posting this review I received a message from someone named Mike from the restaurant saying I didn’t know what I was talking about, was lying about where I really went and accused me of mistaking their establishment for Vic & Angelo’s. Had they paid attention to my review they would see that I noted their location, off of Atlantic Ave and not in a heavily trafficked area, which Vic & Angelo’s is. Called out menu items by name, minus what I said appeared to be prawns in someone else’s dish. Sorry guys they don’t have prawns here. I am a lying asshole for not knowing what was in someone else’s bowl. Also, my review includes a check in — Once. After that rude email, it will continue to be just once.

Lovely friendly server who greeted us as soon as we walked in the door. The pizzas were average and so were the salads. I found the lasagna a gloppy heavy mess. We were again given a warm thank you when we left.

I’d never go back after my experience with the staff. The food was good but not good enough to make me forget how poorly they treat customers.

My life partner Jennifer received a Groupon as a birthday gift so we made it out recently. It’s a good thing I didn’t check Unilocal beforehand, I might have expected a terrible display of service and fare. D’Angelo must be reading these reviews, because our service was extremely on point, to where we had three different people checking on us and bringing different items. It wasn’t overwhelming, it was very nice. We each had an appetizer and an entrée, all of which were great. I also really liked the bar set up, it looked very inviting. I recommend!

Went there last night and I have to say that the good was really good! Coming from Europe, I’m often disappointed with the food in the us. But the tortellini I had really tasted good. And the place itself looks nice. The service was good also.

I thought about giving this a 2 star review because, yes, some of the food we had was good, but the more I thought about the more I realized how terrible our experience was. Firstly, if you read the sun sentinel review of D’Angelo, you were probably looking for the«Wood-oven-roasted, milk-fed piglet» or any of the appetizers listed in the article. You will be sorely disappointed to find that they are no longer offered on the menu. To add insult to injury, we asked about the piglet(which is listed on their online menu as of this writing), and the waiter pretended to not know what we were talking about or that the dish ever existed. My girlfriend arrived 15 minutes before our reservation in order to alert the hostess that we were celebrating my father’s birthday and to ask if they could please put a candle in the dessert that we order. She said we would need to ask our server. Fine. So we sat down and we promptly waited. And waited. And waited. For about 10 minutes employee after employee walked past us into the kitchen. Some looked at us, some did not. It was incredibly nerve wracking waiting for someone to bring us either a menu, water or, god-forbid, bread. I had to get up and go to the bar to ask the bartender for water. My girlfriend asked one of the barbacks for the manager. No manager ever came to the table. As the rest of our party arrived, we told them of the experience thus far and contemplated leaving, but decided it would be too much of a hassle. They alerted us that there was no valet parking, on a saturday night no-less, even though their open table parking details state«complimentary valet parking.» The rest of our party arrived and we were served bread and water and our drink orders were taken. the bread was absolutely fabulous. Everyone loved it and loved the olive oil used for dipping. This was perhaps the peak of the evening. After we ordered appetizers, someone asked the waiter for more bread, which never came. We had ordered cocktails to begin, but no one ever asked us again whether we wanted wine. I thought I might be being picky, but another member of the party said the same thing, in fact no one came to ask how anything was once we got our appetizers. Further, they only came to refill our water once the entire evening and it was towards the end of the meal. For the most part the food we ordered was pretty good. Several had the Branzino, which was great. There was an order of the shrimp parm, which was also good. I had the rigatoni, which was a little al dente. The glaring exception was the sole. We had to send it back because it was raw. Then when it came back it seemed like they had put it in the microwave because it was mushy. They did not include it on the check. What they did do, however, was congregate at the bar towards the end of our meal, the chef, the hostess, and several of the staff, and sit and glare at our table and continually talk about the sole(yes we heard them). It was incredibly rude. I have never been part of something like that before. Prior to dessert my mother went to the staff to make sure we were going to have a candle in the dessert we ordered. Out came tiramisu, rum cake and a slice of ricotta pie. No candle. It was insulting. The tiramisu was great, but for a party of 8 it would have been nice to tell us how small the desserts would be. The rum cake was absolutely horrible. One of our party described it as «hot dog bun.» We asked to have it taken off the bill. They didn’t. The ricotta pie was nothing to write home about. Because we were a party of 8, gratuity of 18% was to be automatically included on the bill. They added 20%, presumably for their stellar service. All in all it was the absolute worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant.

This place is below average from the drinks to the service to the most importantly, the food. Started out w the worst apple martini only to be made a bad Cosmo than had baked clams that were fishy to mozzarella & prosiotto that would’ve been better from Publix lastly the meatballs & gravy which we left most of it over b/c the meatballs were chewy & sauce terrible. It was a Friday night on 4th of July and the service was below par. From the reviews that I didn’t read prior to eating here I’ll not give it a 2nd chance. Life’s too short to eat Shitty food!

A VERYDISAPPOINTINGEXPERIENCE! Strike One –The Maitre D had a seriously poor attitude and was chewing gum the entire evening! Strike two — Our meal came out before our appetizer — in fact the appetizer never came out period! Strike three — The Gnocchi which used to be home made seemed store bought and was not good. There are too many restaurant alternatives in the area to pay good money for aggravation like this.

Very disappointing. We met friends who had been seated for about 15 minutes before we arrived. The initial round of drink orders was taken quickly but it took a very long time for the drinks to get to the table. Our server gave the misleading impression(at first) that she was friendly, and capable; but that unfortunately didn’t turn out to be the case. I ordered a second drink before the food was served. It finally arrived near the end of the meal and I didn’t want it anymore. Server put it down anyway, and charged us for it. The food: First out was the minestrone soup. it was thin and watery, but worst of all — it was completely cold. Not just luke warm — cold. The server never came back and there was no tracking her down, so my friend just ate it cold. The Caeser salad was a plate of romaine lettuce — no croutons, no parmesan cheese. Next was a pizza that was completely black on the bottom and half of the top. When we told the server it was burned, she told us it was supposed to be that way because it was a wood burning oven. I’ve had lots of pizza from a wood burning oven and it’s never been burned black before. I had the antipasto platter as my main course. It was very good, but there’s no circumstance in which I would return.

An absolute disaster. Worst restaurant experience I’ve had in years. I’ve also learned that this restaurant is NOT part of the Casa D’Angelo family of restaurants owned by Chef Angelo Elia. We chose it because we thought it was. I will never, ever, ever, ever, ever go back to D’Angelo Trattoria. They ruined what was supposed to be a very lovely celebration of La Festa Delle Donne/International Women’s Day. We arrived for our reservation for 12, with one extra person. Don’t do this. It took them 20 minutes to add a table to the one they’d prepared on the totally empty patio seating area. Our server didn’t deal well with this change. First he barked where we should sit. Really. He said, «Don’t sit there! Sit there!» Then, he barked at guests who arrived late. Then at one point he made us all move our chairs to the left. I’m not kidding. He interrupted our conversation and came over to each of us and had us nudge our chairs to the left. It was disconcerting. Overall the service was awful. Though Italian, our waiter was like Manuel, the Spanish waiter from Fawlty Towers, in his propensity to cause disruption and chaos, but without the good intentions or eagerness to please. Our appetizers arrived quickly, but our entrees didn’t arrive until 45 minutes later. The food was mediocre. I ordered the Angelo Pizza and their Prosciutto di Parma was hard and crusty when Parma ham should be soft and pliable. My friend ordered the $ 32 Branzino and it was a complete waste of money. Another gal ordered stuffed zucchini flowers that were over-fried and mushy. The poor gal that ordered pasta had grated cheese all over her lap after the waiter used the cheese grater. It wasn’t funny when the food runner interrupted our table conversation four times with dishes that we didn’t order. We were like a broken record, «Nope. Not Ours.» «Nope. Not Ours.» «Nope. Not Ours.» etc. Our meal ended in the worst way I’ve ever experienced in a restaurant. We’d clearly asked for separate checks, but it all came on one. Now, I realize Saturday is the busiest restaurant night, but there are ways to manage a large group that works for the server, the kitchen and the customer. For example, break the table into four checks and relay this to the kitchen staff. Not that it would’ve mattered, though, because even though everything was ordered together our food was timed so badly that some people were done before others were served. Then, the waiter tried to clear while people still had food on their plates and forks in their hands. Oy. One thing to point out is that many of us had ordered the«house red» not realizing it would be $ 14 a glass. I’m wondering if it was the«house» selection because we never saw the wine list, or if the waiter served this to increase the mandatory 20 percent tip on our final bill. We all scurried using our iPhone calculators, but it was confusing and the waiter, clearly annoyed, told us we were $ 200 short. We didn’t understand and asked again for separate checks, but he wasn’t going to be inconvenienced(and he already had his 20 percent tip.) So there we all were, sitting and standing around the restaurant’s patio, now totally cleared, for one full hour, exhausted and frustrated and going in circles. Finally, one of our guests escorted the waiter to the computer and showed him how to create separate checks. Yes, that really happened. What made it worse: the manager/owner appeared, said a few words to the waiter, looked at all of us, got frustrated and left. We spent a lot of money at D’Angelo Trattoria and staff and management made our group feel like a big inconvenience. This is ridiculous because really it was very much the other way around.

Three Stars for the food because it was actually very good. What was not good was the NOISE Level, slow service and the Automatic 20% Tip added to my Tab for a Four Top. I might go back if I cannot find a better restaurant in Delray. So far, I am 0 and 4 on finding a really great Dinner spot in Delray.

Very authentic italian food in Delray. I had the zucchini flowers with gorgonzola cheese. The cheese was an interesting choice, I think a ricotta or fresh mozzarella would have been better. The orrechiette with broccoli rabe and sausage was a spot on version much like my family makes. Service was just ok, we were a decent size group. The décor is nice. There are so many restaurants in del ray, if I am ever back I probably would not go again just so I can check out the other options.
