It’s so hard to rate any one I’ve cream parlor as «the best», but this place ranks high on my Cape List. Located on 6a in Dennis, my Favorite cape location and just down the street from the DPM, Smugglers is exactly what you would expect an ice cream parlor to look like. The girls working the counter are great, and quick to help you get your order in or point you to some great flavors, which they have a good selection of. Personally when on the cape I’ve got to do Maple Walnut and at smugglers this year I’ve paired it with a scoop of Buttercrunch, can you say YUM! I’d be scared to say«died and gone to heaven», there is a cemetery across the street. Great flavors and textures, this review is making me hungry and we just got back to Chicago. Make this a stop on the Cape Cod Ice Cream Trail and you won’t be disappointed.

Been going to this place for years and like their ice cream but parents with nut allergies beware of this place. Told them my 10 year old son had a severe peanut allergy and they told me that they were too busy to make an allergy milk shake because it takes too long. The owner was asked twice to please make an exception because we only come once a year and she refused a second time as my son was standing next to me looking at her upset. I’ve never been to any food/ice cream establishment that has refused to accommodate a nut allergy request. Very insensitive of the owner to do this especially to a child. I guess when you are as busy as they typically are you stop trying to accommodate your customers.

Best ice cream on Cape Cod… Glad to see them open for the Columbus day weekend!

Super yummy ice cream place. Get the hot fudge sundae, the hot fudge is great… Goes with any ice cream flavor you choose. I had the Razzo, which was black raspberry w. oreo. Sooo good, rich & not too sweet.

***Visited on Sept.8th*** I’ve been going to the Smugglers since the mid ‘80s. To this day, I’m 39 years old now. The place still looks(inside & out) the same and smells the same on the inside. The cone with the like 100 scoops on the support pillar has aged well LOL! I had the chocolate waffle cone, a must. I thought, I need to change up the flavors tonight. So I had two scoops of the Raspberry French Truffle. Holy yumminess. I’ve been doing 2 scoops of cookies and cream since 1986! Raspberry French Truffle will be my new flavor for the next 29 years. Good Luck –T

The ice cream smuggler is always the way to go! You can’t go to cape cod with out a smuggler sundae! We recommend ALL of the flavored, but our favorites are cookie dough, grasshopper, peppermint, and coffee!

Meh. The ice cream is more airy with little bits of ice in it. Not smooth and creamy. I’ve definitely had better. We luckily came and there was no line. 5 minutes later, it was out the door. Cute little outdoor seating area.

Simply great homemade ice cream. A must stop at place when in Dennis, MA. Plenty of parking and generous scoops make it a perfect place for your favorite flavor.

I asked for a taste of the«frozen pudding» which tasted like… nothing. This is already a bad sign when it comes to anything, especially ice cream. Personally, I like my ice cream sweet or if it has interesting flavors like honey-lavender or biscotti. This one was neither. If you are a five year old you will probably like this place. If you really like ice creams, stop and get a pint of Ben and jerrys.

We just happened to discover this while driving through Dennis. The ice cream is as good as ice cream in Spain(my favorite!) the rum raisin, maple walnut and coffee are outstanding. The employees and owner super friendly. Too bad we live in Md but it made the long trip back a bit easier!

Our first day on the Cape and we stopped by after watching the sunset at Chapin Beach. We were originally going to Chapin’s Ice Cream but turns out it’s not open for the season on Tuesdays. Lucky us, one of the valets at Chapin’s directed us to Smuggler’s where my fiancé and I each got a cone(chocolate dipped sugar) and a cup. He ordered a grasshopper(mint and oreo) and a cookie dough and I had the caramel pecan. I might be biased but I thought mine was better. Either way, delicious ice cream, generous portions at a good price. Caught us off guard that it was cash only, but we ran across the parking lot to the ATM at TD Bank to remedy that problem. Great spot for a sweet tooth!

Still an A+ ice cream establishment. Hats off to ice cream scooper, Angela who is faithful and scoops with a smile. I wish I could try something new but the coffee oreo yogurt continues to be sublime.

Cute place with tasty ice cream. I don’t go out of my way to go here, but that’s bcs I literally live across the street from one of the Sundae Schools. I was lucky to get in before the crowds came. By the time the three of us got our ice cream and grabbed a seat, the dinner hour had ended and folks were coming in for dessert. The crowd got so insane that we abandoned our table(I can only be jostled by out-of-control children and tourists so many times). I can’t really remember details of the ice cream itself. It was definitely good. But, well, I eat a lot of freaking ice cream on the Cape and it’s hard to keep ‘em all straight.

Hate to say it, but The Smuggler has gone downhill. The ice cream just doesn’t taste as good any more. Sundae School and Cape Cod Creamery are just much better options at this point.

Decent ambiance. I’ve cream isn’t bad, but not close to many others on the cape. Long lines with slow service. The worst thing about this place is that it’s cash only. Very odd that in this day of Square that they can’t manage to accept credit cards. Just raise the price to compensate. Not difficult. Cash is a pain in the ass. Won’t return.

I normally never do this, but I’m giving Smugglers five stars after only one visit. It was a hot Labor Day weekend, so we stopped in, as you do. We were driving along 6A looking for stuff to do, and figured having ice cream and a walk in the old cemetery across the street seemed as good an idea as any. Well, the ice cream just blew me away. This is high, high quality stuff. I had scoops of chocolate peanut butter and salted caramel. These were great, but I was jealous of my wife’s choice of ginger and apple pie. These were perfect. I would say even stay away from sundaes, milkshakes and stuff like that. I don’t know, maybe these alternatives are great, but I wouldn’t want to risk it. The ice cream deserves to be enjoyed on its own. Also, in the cemetery there is a grave of a woman named Nabby.

One of the many ice cream places on the Cape but one of few that holds special memories for me. Down the street from one of my favorite beaches(Mayflower) so we stop early afternoon for some of the best ice cream in the world, still well before dinner. There’s no scenic place to sit, the lines can be long and the prices are typically Cape overpriced … so no 5 stars. But really good ice cream and nice people that work there.

What is there not to like about this place?! I must have been here three times during my vacation because I couldn’t get enough of the ice cream. First off, SUPEREFFICIENTLADIES working here; most of them are college students trying to earn a little extra dinero during the summer and the tip jar should be crammed full of singles. Do it. They will get you in and out of there in less than five minutes, even when the line is really long and your friends are very indecisive. The ice cream is amazing! Delicious! Soft, yet it doesn’t melt in 2.5 seconds. They also have yogurt options. Chocolate peanut butter won my heart day one, but you really can’t go wrong here. Didn’t regret the calories for one second and licked the bowl clean. Mmmmmmmmmm!
