I’ve been to Golden Corral before and I never expect a lot or the best food ever or anything, but it was especially disappointing this time… I nearly choked on my spit when the cashier held out his hand for my credit card and intoned«$ 32». I hadn’t been to a Golden Corral for so long that the last time I ate at one, I was young enough for someone else to pay for me. I guess I wasn’t informed enough and ended up paying $ 32 for a bland dinner buffet for two. The first notable thing was how small the buffet was compared to others, say, a Chinese buffet(which is cheaper by the way). I wouldn’t have minded as much if the food was okay or if they had a dish or two that was good enough to get twice– there wasn’t. Second, the employees looked like they were risen from the dead. The cashier looked bland and depressed and none of the other employees seemed to care either, they seemingly walked around without purpose. I can say that the only good thing from my experience was the kind lady manager(I’m assuming) who went around to check if we were doing fine, and she was so nice we just lied to her and said yes. The tall man behind the grill cooking up less-than-average steaks was also very friendly despite his… lacking skills. As if the food wasn’t bad enough, I also noticed all the signs were misplaced, the«pizza» sign over a pathetic pan of cornbread, «spaghetti and meatballs» over fried fish. I think. It was a mess. Overall, just don’t go. It’s a waste of money and the food isn’t even good so please just find some other place to go.

Just returned home from a trip to Golden Corral. Bad experience! I’ve always appreciated my routine visits to this valued grazing ground and, especially, the annual free meal Golden Corral provides in honor of a vet’s service to America. I’ve made my pleasure with this buffet known. But now here’s the rest of the story… Some time ago I came across a Golden Corral-originated entry on my computer. It advised that Vet’s Day this year would be catered by them from 5 to 9 P.M. on Monday, Nov. 16 rather than Nov. 11, the actual V Day. I wrote the date on my calendar. This celebration day switch was not unusual; they’d done it before. So today(11⁄16) I showed up promptly at 5 on Golden Corral’s doorstep, complete in my «Viet Nam» hat and retired military ID card. I had really looked forward to this occasion. But NO. I was told there had been a «typo» and that the event had actually gone down on the actual Nov. 11 Vet’s Day. I requested the manager. She showed up promptly. I explained the situation and said I thought I would be reasonable to provide a complimentary meal for both myself and my wife as all I wanted was what my brothers had already gotten. But she said«No. But I said, Hey, I’m the same vet I was 5 days ago and, besides, look at the good will this would generate». She said no. And then I pulled out all stops. I told the manager that if this Golden Corral mistake wasn’t made good on, I’d feel compelled to post my experience on Unilocal,Angie’s List, and any other social media I might choose. She said«maybe» and offered me a discount. I said No! They’d advertised a Vet’s Day free meal on the wrong date. I was here on the advertised date. Only a free meal would be accepted. She said«no»; we parted company. This is a small matter, granted, but I think my expectations were reasonable and that Golden Corral’s handling of this matter perhaps a bit cheesy. Right or wrong?.

Last night, a Friday night, was our very first visit to this location. I realize that any type of buffet is more about quantity rather than quality. As other mentioned it’s not exactly cheap to eat here anymore. We are a family of 4 with 2 adults, an 11 year old and a 6 year old. Factor in 4 drinks and a $ 5 tip for the overworked waitress/buser and you’re looking at about $ 60, enough for us to have eaten at somewhere like TGIFriday’s, Applebea’s, etc. The food was hot and at proper temperature. Hubby was not too pleased that more often than not the ham and steak stations where the meat carvers are supposed to be serving food at were mostly empty with carver absent making it impossible to get the more expensive meats. The sides were mostly over salted otherwise they lacked any other flavor. I was very disappointed in the fried chicken because it was extremely greasy and so salty it was impossible to eat the crunchy part which in my opinion is the best part. I do have to give the older lady that was baking deserts credit because the stuff she was making was pretty good. I will say that overall the staff needs to monitor the buffet better because I saw several kids double dipping in the chocolate fountain which grossed me out. I am very quick to notice weird or nasty smells but I didn’t pick up on any in the main areas the only place I found it to be at is in the lady’s room which was also a little disorganized and had toilet paper on the floor. Hubby is half way considering another trip but I think it’s more of the fact that while living in the Seattle area buffets weren’t as common as they are here in the south. I don’t want to return to this location. I hope that if I do end up at another Golden Corral that this experience is not the way all of them are in this area because it’s been years since we last enjoyed a decent buffet.

Having just finished a breakfast here I’m actually quite shocked. I did my best to power through the food as I had paid for it after all. While in college working on my bacelors in the culinary arts we were always tested first in our ability to make breakfast, and as such was shocked to find that this establishment fell QUITE short on its ability to further perpetuate the thought that any cool worth their salt can make breakfast. To add to this the food was very stale and sparse in places. The bacon, for instance, was practically charcoal. I’m hoping this was a one time had say but word of mouth in the area speaks to a different tune. To their credit, I don’t smell the smell in the entry that other reviews say exsist. The restaurant is clean and the staff was friendly if a bit reserved.

I wish they would figure out what the terrible smell is when you walk in the doors. Instead it’s covered up with Fabuloso. Nasty. Today the steak was to tough to cut thru, potroast too dry to swallow, and I could go on. On a different day, it might be average at best. Today it was just plain bad. We won’t return.

My husband and I just ate at this restaurant. When I walked in there was a strong unpleasant smell. I should have left then. The manager rang us up and he was quite unfriendly and did not greet us. Ok… We were there at 5:15 so I expected the buffet table to have plenty of food. The salad bar was sparse and littered with vegetables around the bowls. The rolls on the hot bar were hard as were the baked potatoes wrapped in foil that tasted like they were baked 2 days ago. I asked about fresh rolls. The waiter brought out 4 rolls that were big and pretty but cold. Brussels sprouts on hot bar were cold. Hubby and I both agreed we will never ever go to another Golden Corral restaurant. The ladies bathroom was also atrocious and very unclean. Save your money people! Do not go here if you want a good meal!

Went there today for lunch. The food was ok. The Pot Roast was ok the meat was pretty good a little BLAND not enough veggies in it a few big slices of carrots but no real flavor. The Red Velvet CAKE was not that good to me. Too dry, too fake tasting. IT looked pretty but not good. The food is not that good in my opinion but it was a nice experience. I had a nice server. She was nice. Clean, but restrooms needed some paper to wipe hands when you go in there. They had hand sanitzer but someone needed to work on the tongs on the dishes some of them were hard to operate and to reach. It was quite clean for a buffet unlike the filthy ones in Los Angeles. I thought the other customers seemed nice, clean, and mannerable. Coming from Los Angeles I thought it was exemplorary. I would definitely go back. I did like the black eyed peas and the cornbread muffins were delicious. I would go back just for those two items only. I recommend. It cost us about $ 12.00 per person with the drink during the lunch time. $ 8 something and then whatever for the drinks. We paid for two people about 22.00 They had a server but she mostly cleaned up the table.

Food was ok, service was slow but ok… Very kid friendly and cost was great with coupon! It is hard to go out with 4 kids and get them all full and something that they like to eat!

This is just another typical Golden Corral… the food is OK, the service is OK. Don’t expect anything special, but you’ll not be smacking your lips … just eating. It’s just basic food, not bad but not that good either. It will feed your face and is probably better than a fast food burger joint.

I was disappointed in this particular Golden Corrall. There was no roasted chicken, only fried and not much of it. There was not much for desserts. Overall, it was a real disappointment. There are too many good places in Denton to eat to bother eating there.

Like anything, you have to evaluate on your expectations. I have been to this GC numerous times with my family. The staff is all very polite. The restaurant is clean. The plates are policed efficiently. The food is OK. Occasional something does not get taken off of a station quickly enough and what remains is stale or whatever. That is the nature of a buffet, ANYBUFFET. If you don’t like the idea of a buffet, just don’t go to one. It is that simple. Normally, the best thing to do is inform someone. Instead, most folks just whine about it later. I went last night with the family for the start of the prime rib special. I arrived right at the start of dinner service and got one of the 1st pieces off of the roast as did the rest of my family. The meat was tasty and fresh though it could have been a little more rare. I got a second piece a little bit later, and after sitting for a couple of minutes the overcook was a little more evident. Still acceptable, just an observation. Hopefully they will adjust as this was the 1st day of the promo. Everything else was very good as well. I really like that they have some hard serve ice cream selections and not just soft serve. That is a nice dessert touch. P. S. I am 5′ 8″ and a muscular 160 lbs. I work out regularly, and have a body fat of around 12%. I have a lovely, athletically built wife and 2 wonderful children who are both intelligent and in similarly excellent shape. I also have a very good management job with one of the largest companies in the world that pays very well. Not only fat, slobbish white trash go to GC(or Walmart for that matter). I hope that when the idiots who troll the internet posting about fast food, etc make such claims that it makes them feel better about their own miserable, narcissistic(and in many cases unintelligent) selves.

Well… it IS a buffet place and I am not keen on visiting these places at ALL, but we were out this morning buying our 5 year old his baseball equipment when he got hungry at 10:15. We decided to try GC for the first time in Denton. Other GC’s we’ve been to have been out of my control and I did not find them favorable, but it was close and it was food so I thought why not. It was costly, $ 23 for the three of us, but I think my boy ate enough to pay for him and myself. He wasn’t kidding when he was hungry. I was surprised at how small it seemed and how there was only one pathway to and from the food to tables. It just seemed cramped. The food was okay… i mean you could tell it was all processed and came either out of a can or box, but the biscuits were absolutely fresh and delicious. I had scrambled eggs and skillet hasbrowns(which I’m pretty sure were frozen) but it wasn’t all bad. My kiddo LOVED the chocolate fountain and since it was breakfast I’m sure it didn’t have the time to become the gross obstacle I’m sure it is at 4:30 in the afternoon. Food was everywhere on the floor and no one was cleaning anything. They weren’t really that busy. In fact our waitress went and sat down at another couple’s table and joined in on their conversation. I hope she knew them! Our table didn’t have any napkins which are a necessity when eating out with a 5 year old nor did it have salt or pepper. As I went to retrieve the salt shaker and found out it was empty I made a comment to my husband that this table didn’t have nothing! And as I got up to go the other table to get salt, our waitress rushes over and says, «Y’all’s salt shaker empty?» as she lifts it up and then says, «Yep! NOTHING.» I just looked at her and I told her that I didn’t appreciate being mocked. She just shutup and walked off. She did change her tune after I spoke up to her and decided it was in her best interest to wait on us… not that we really needed it… it’s a buffet afterall. Anyway, my 5 year old ate more there than anywhere else we’ve taken him, so I guess it is a kid friendly place… but I’m still not a fan and probably would only go back if I was just dying to eat overpriced processed food our of a box or can. I still cannot find a decent breakfast place around here. Don’t get me started on IHOP or Cracker Barrel… just …no.

Now, first of all, it’s a BUFFET, and needs to be evaluated as such, not as one would approach a fancy French bistro. We ate here last night and every dish I tried was fresh, well-prepared, and tasty.(For those reviewers who thought this place lacked something, go try Hometown Buffet somewhere.) The one reservation I had was that the lighting had an unappetizing bluish cast; they should go with a warmer color temp.

Okay so… My family and I came to eat here on a Sunday afternoon. Immediatley I was shocked that the prices had gone up so much(12.99 a head) but whatcha gonna do, right? After just a few moments I went from shocked to disgusted with the nose picking kids, food flying around the resteraunt, people screaming in spanish from every direction. Uhg. And the restroom. Accidents happen, I know… But someone had one all over the bathroom and in what may have been a vain attempt to clean it, got the. poo all over the sink, walls, floor… Yup. Ew. I asked a waitress to. inform managment and she informed me that there was nothing to be done. They were too busy. Ew, again. Food was smoldering under heat lamps, kids sticking there fingers in the chocolate fountain, remnents of old food was sticking to our shoes bc the floor was covered in it. Ew. Ew. Ew.

My family and I attend church in this area. We typically stopped every Sunday after service before heading home to Irving. Most Sundays, we had a great experience which is why we kept returning. However, on Father’s day weekend we sat in an area with a HORRIBLE server. She was pleasant to every table around us, wishing the men Happy Father’s Day. However, she ignored us for quite some time and then did not wish my husband a Happy Father’s Day. When I brought it to her attention, she got snippy. I called the manager from our table. I went to speak to him and he also came back over. He was apologetic and did give us coupons. We did come back and had a much better experience with a different server. However, I haven’t been too keen on visiting that location. I go to the one in Grapevine now which is closer to home and the service is consistantly good!

So, I was dragged here(against my will I might add) for dinner the other day. I have been to Golden Corral in the past and didn’t really have the greatest impression of the establishment. It was about 9:00PM, so I was especially wary of how fresh the food would be given that they close at 10:00. I must say, I was pleasantly surprised. The staff was pleasant and eager. The food was fresh(and still being replenished at 9:30) and tasty. I tended toward the healthier selections, steamed veggies and the like. My dining partner loaded it up with mac n cheese, mashed potatoes and rotisserie chicken that smelled delicious. The fried chicken, which I was kind of looking forward to, didn’t look very good… so I skipped it. Otherwise, it was pretty darn good, all things considered, and exceeded my expectations.

Wow. I went here for Thanksgiving Dinner because I did not have any friends up here and I did not want to drive to Houston to eat dinner with my mother’s friends. This place was crappy for any Thanksgiving buffet. he food tasted bland or over salted. They overcharged for one. Did not have a large selection of anything. The desserts were gone and never replenished. I was just really disappointed in everything. This was the worst Thanksgiving. I never really seen any Golden Coral this small with such a small dinner selection in my life. I should have went to Wataburger or something.
