Stopped in last night for a CHUN event. I haven’t been inside the Squire in ages. at least 15 years or so. It’s been renovated some. The windows add some much needed light. The lady bartender(didn’t catch her name) was friendly and attentive. I think our night would have been so much better if not for the jukebox. We walked into BLARING Celine Dion and pretty crappy music just continued thru for the next couple of hours. I guess my thought is, if you don’t have crappy choices in the jukebox, people can’t choose them to torture others with.

This is a great local bar. The vibe is always great for Colfax, and they have a good bar patio. They don’t have pool, other games, or food, but it is good hang out bar. They get 5 stars from me because they have some great tap beers and a happy hour that goes till 8! In a cool area of a big city I appreciate that.

Great place! Good prices and nice spots to sit. My roommate thought it was called The Squirrel Lounge, but it’s not.

The staff was incredibly rude the entire time we were there. While some people have praised the photo booth, the photos never printed after we tried it and the disinterested blonde bartender told us to just keep waiting and then went back to talk to his friends at the other end of the bar. Sure the drinks are cheap, but you’ll be treated poorly and the staff will act like you are bothering them if you try to get a drink. There are plenty of cheap bars around Colfax that will be happy with your patronage. I wouldn’t waste your money here.

Came here before and after the renovation. Before, a stank, urine-stenched, ugly, fun little East Colfax dive bar. Cheap drinks, odd clientele, and a decent place to have a couple drinks. Now, they tried to fancy themselves up a bit. The clientele hasn’t changed, the staff has barely turned over, and the drinks are still the same. Only thing missing is the urine smell, but give it time, I bet it comes back. Dive bar trying not to be a dive bar anymore for some reason.

meh. Its a pretty plain bar with giant TVs in a small space full of normal people. Im not impressed by the drink specials because there were none. Its not bad but I wont be back. It was simply a stop along the way down colfax.

Bartenders are brilliantly nice! Ask for the peach tea lemonade! Also, the open mic on Tusedays is really fun!

Went here tonight for the first time … I’ve been to a lot of bars lately and this one is a breath of fresh air … It’s ambiance is great it’s not just a bar to be a bar it’s denver at its finest and it really comes down to the bar tenders … Beth or Bethany I forget her name but what an amazing person she made me and my friend feel so at home as soon as we walked In and took great care of us all night not just with her great service but her great conversation … And to say I’ll be back would be an understatement … I’ll be back every Wednesday for wu Wednesdays … Love this place … I’d give it 10 stars if I could

This is the best bar in the City Park/Capital Hill neighborhood. However, I wish there was a better beer selection, BUT this is now a Packer bar which is sweet.

Stopped in randomly on our way home from Pete’s Satire and I’m so glad we did! This place was old and drab and now is a place where I would want to actually hang out and enjoy a beverage. They did a fabulous job with the remodel making it clean and comfortable. I’m excite for the rebirth of colfax! Great little place.

Stopped in on Sunday Funday thinking it would be a complete dump. We were shocked when we walked In and it was completely renovated and super clean! We will definitely be back soon!

Oh, Squire. You really had a good(slightly gross/creepy) thing going for a while. Now you are big and weird and attempting to be TRENDY? Oh, Squire. You are dead to me. Also, you smell like poop.

So I never got to experience the old Squire. But this new swanky Squire was awesome! Very fun mixture of creepy Colfax folk, and late 20s rich kids. The bartenders are awesome, attentive, nice, and the drinks were surprisingly crazy cheap! Karaōke on Friday was packed. The booths are super tiny, but it was fun. I’d totally take someone here to meet for a laid back first date or just have a fun neighborhood bar. Did I mention they have a photo booth… Who doesn’t love photo booths. Seriously. Now that I think about it more, it’s a perfect first date bar. Small booth to get all cozy, photo booth to flirt, and you won’t spend a fortune. PARKINGINBACK!

Cast aside your past notions, this is the New Squire. The current ownership has cleaned up and remodeled the place and I’m told it’s nigh unrecognizable from its past self. I never went to the Squire previously, so I can’t compare, but I do know that it looks nice now. The shuffleboard is still there, but the pool tables are gone. There’s also a photo booth. There isn’t enough signage for anything so you’re left to ask or guess what the best deal is or whether or not the place is even open. Also, it’s starting to feel like a hipster bar and that’s not my thing. Occasionally someone accustomed to the Old Squire will wander in and either back out slowly or complain about the lack of pool tables. That’s probably the most interesting thing you’ll see here. The place actually has a lot of potential, but it depends how the ownership handles it. If they try to appeal to the hipster crowd too specifically then I’m out.

This bar was closed for awhile… new ownership and remodeling… very nice, good music… the best bar tender there was Angel, she was there the first couple of weeks with the new opening… Sad tonight that we invited tons of friends and Angel was not there… the new bartender said she won’t be there anymore:(sad…Angel made the place fun… and safe… its east colfax-she kicked out the riff raff… new staff ok… drink specials awesome…

First off, you could only improve the old Squire Lounge. It was a rank, nasty little bar that a friend of mine nicknamed«The Turtle Cage», because, well, it smelled like a turtle cage. I drank a beer there once, and it came in a dirty glass and I told my male friend to never ever ever bring another lady to this bar. But that was then. It has since, apparently, changed ownership and been rehabbed. Now, it looks a bit like a makeover from Trading Spaces(remember that show??), where it’s all dark, and modern, and like it was done quickly. It also looks like they are only ½ way done with the remodel. And, it smells like varnish and other carcinogens. THATBEINGSAID– it is 1000% better. The bartender seemed nice enough, but he didn’t know what a greyhound or a salty dog was. That didn’t really matter, though, since they didn’t have grapefruit juice anyways. He did make a kick-ass gin and tonic, though. Drinks prices are still cheap, a bit more that what they were, and beer selection isn’t bad for a little bar. I think if they add a few plants, or art, or some sort of finishing touches to this bar it will be better. Right now, it just lacks personality. Maybe after a while, the bar will be better stocked, too. In the meantime, I am just really happy my glass was clean this time.

Yeah, so they changed the Squire… sigh… Some will say the changes are an improvement. And sure it’s nice to have bathrooms with doors, but this place almost looks(and smells) like a half-finished basement rec room rather than an awesome Colfax dive bar. They got rid of Ms. Pac Man. They bar is upgraded in nice wood but feels almost too big now… and I am not sure that actually the size of the bar changed or if its just less cluttered. Either way, when there is only one bartender, it takes awhile to get his or her attention across the bar. The old murals are cool. But a lot of the renovation feels very unfinished. Lots of exposed dry wall still abounds and a random door lies against the middle of one wall. The room is also a lot bigger feeling partially because they removed the raised area to the left of the bar, which definitely gives more room but also makes me miss the odd coziness of the red vinyl booths that used to be there. The cheap alcohol prices stayed the same($ 2 PBRs), but something else is missing. The Squire kind of looks like a lot of other bars now, not the oddball it had been for so long. Maybe I’ll get used to the changes but I think they tried to fix something that wasn’t broke here.

Love the New Look and Feel! The ceiling is amazing and the mural on the wall that was uncovered is so awesome! The smell is gone, new bathrooms and great service!!! Well Done!
