We started our bar hopping here around 9pm and it was sort of slow. This place is mostly open with different bars in different spots inside the place. It seemed liked the typical beach bar. We all got some drinks at the bar by the stage, where a band was warming up, but never actually played. The drink of the night(or maybe it’s just a popular drink now) was an orange crush. It’s just a screwdriver with triple sec and sprite. Nothing really special. I guess it’s geared more to people who just turned 21 but I didn’t really see anything great about this place.

My family and I will never eat here again. It was disgustingly dirty. Dirty condensation dripped from the beer lines over head into our glass of water. When we complained the waitress said its been doing that for 10 years. We moved to another disgusting dirty table which had 2 dead fly bodies stuck to the extremely sticky table. The table next to us left their food and huffed out after not getting a server to return to check on their very cold food and empty coffee cups. We had a better server who took pretty good care of us. We ordered gummy blueberry pancakes, I hate gummy pancakes. The Eggs Delmarva had so much sauce the eggs swam in it. The menu said bagels with Philadelphia cream cheese– wrong! It was a cheap brand. The main complaint was the filth. Although I must say the coffee was great!

Holy moly I dropped a lot of money here, but you can’t help it because it’s probably thee most fun I’ve ever had at a bar. Playing her pong across the room with random peoples cups and making it a full game, Elvis singing sweet Caroline standing on a table, seeing some, free water bottles, love bands, dance floors, awesome breakfast. I had one hell of a Memorial Day weekend.

First things first. The Starboard has the best Bloody Mary bar ever. Granted, this is the only one I’ve been to aside from the makeshift one I have at home. The bar is stocked with every kind of tomato mixer, sauce and spice that you can imagine. It was a little overwhelming concocting the perfect beverage, but I was happy with the final result. Definitely worth the $ 7. Back to the meal. The place was packed when we got here for brunch on Saturday. We were told there would be a bit of a wait, but were seated shortly after. They had a good selection of tasty-sounding breakfast items and I chose the Brisket, Egg and Cheese Skillet. It was a heaping amount of potatoes covered by the aforementioned. Topped with their home brand hot sauce, the dish was delicious and was enough food to leave me stuffed. Only wish we had been able to stay here for longer. I’m looking forward to coming back here and checking it out at night.

My wife and I went here while on a quick vacation. She had the hangover helper and I had the kitchen sink omelette. Love this place. The food is great, service is great, the drinks(orange or grapefruit crush) are the the best. This is one of the best bars on the east coast. You never feel too old or too young here.

Where to start? My Bartender Meg kept hitting on dudes instead of making my drinks. The music was like a black light party in a nerd frat. Not to worry! More available trim than a hair cuttery. The food was like something served by Greek Gods at James Beard’s house. It’s like having sex without a condom, you just have to take chances. I would’ve given them 5 stars…, but I thought it would be bigger Matt Hesseltine. If Toastie or Beef leave I reserve the right to revise my star rating.

I’ve heard about the Starboard in passing as one of Dewey’s premier bars. I was there on the Saturday afternoon of opening weekend. My experience can be best summed up from the highlights of my real-time text messages: «This is a college sh*t show» «I’m being pushed. In so many ways.» «So the bar is like drunk Erin Express hell» «BUT the band is SO good.» Ok, you get my point. I felt like I was amongst some college kids who were there just to get as smashed as humanly possible. Everyone was shoving each other. I had friends that waited for the bathroom for over 20 minutes(second hand experience, I heard it was gross). Kristen & Johnny played Saturday in the main tent and were awesome. A few of us watched from a distance from where we could enjoy the music while not getting trampled. I also really enjoyed my orange crush. It was refreshing and strong. I was also surprised that this large vodka drink utilizing fresh oranges was only about $ 10. Maybe it’s different during other times of the year, but I’d be weary of going back opening weekend.

Brunch: YES!, breakfast: YES!, dinner: not sure, night out: if you long for frat party glory days. Great place for brunch at one of my favorite beaches. Breakfast wraps are all killer good. Fresh baked bread makes for great toast though they are very stingy on the egg when making french toast. Hash browns blow me away but to be honest I have not figured out why. They appear to be quite regular but I cannot get enough. They have the hot sauces made for them by a local shop and that are fantastic additions to anything you’d consider putting ketchup on. As far as a bar… it’s a standard feeling sports bar that tends to be quite browy and fratty at night so I am not a fan. not usually much dancing regardless of the music.

My friend noticed this place right next to the condo we were staying at on the beachfront, so our group decided to go there for brunch on a Sunday! It was pretty early in the morning, so there were plenty of spaces to sit. The atmosphere was friendly and they have a fireplace and a fish tank with a spotted eel! I ordered the Belgian waffle with bacon and strawberries! It was just the right size for the price and the bacon was crispy! The strawberries were fresh as well. The waffle was not soft, so the maple syrup and strawberries stayed put as I ate. It was so good! All of my friends also destroyed their plates and they said the protein wrap was amazing as well. Definitely make a trip out here of you are in the area. I hear there is dancing at night and a different menu for dinnertime! BTW, they decorated the shark in front of the store with a holiday wreath and also put up lots of lights for the holidays. You can see it from the road!

3.5 Stars. I can’t comment on the night life scene because my friends and I never made it out there for reasons I won’t share on Unilocal. Also, bars in Dewey Beach close unusually early. I did; however, get the chance to go to The Starboard for brunch! You could definitely start your fun filled day here. Here are some notes to consider: 1. The Bloody Mary bar — For all you bloody mary lovers out there, you’d love their set up here. They offer so many hot sauces, tomato juices, toppings, spices, etc. etc. for you to create your own bloody mary drink. Also, the bartenders do not skimp you on the vodka! I actually hate bloody marys, but was tempted to order one just so I could come up with some crazy spicy concoction! 2. Prices are great. Both drinks and food are cheap. 3. Crushes. Order whatever crush they have available. I did the orange and the grapefruit and both were refreshing, cheap, and leave you with a nice buzz. Basically you don’t think you’re drinking any alcohol. Dangerous. 4. There will be a wait, but feel free to go to any of the bars they have available and snag some drinks while you wait. It’ll make the time go by A LOT faster. 5. Food is mediocre. You’ll be able to eat it, but I wouldn’t exactly say it was enjoyable. Some of my friends enjoyed their meals though. I ordered the crab eggs benedict and I guess I should’ve known better. The hollandaise sauce tasted terribly artificial. 6. Service is average. Overall, a solid place to stop by in Dewey. Great crowd and good times no matter what time of the day you go.

If you’re in Dewey, you just have to brunch here. And by brunch, I mean indulge in a delicious fattening breakfast(to cure your previous night’s Dewey festivities), start getting boozey with the largest Bloody Mary bar I’ve ever seen then get yourself an orange crush. Then, 2 Bloody Marys and 3 orange crushes later, you’ll realize that you’ve been there all day, made some new friends and are having the best of times. Just be ready for a wait to get seated/eat.

My favorite Dewey Beach hangout whether for breakfast, lunch and late night partying. Can’t go wrong with their eggs Delmarva for breakfast. They have many bartenders so getting a drink isn’t too bad especially at night when you have to squeeze between people to move.

Yummy breakfast and friendly staff. We loved sitting outside on the deck! My husband and I both got skillet breakfasts and they were huge and delicious. I had the lump crab skillet and the crab pieces were big! Good bloody Mary’s and drinks. They make their own hot sauce which was very good as well. We will definitely be back for another meal.

Questions: Are you in Dewey Beach? Do you like to get weird with strangers? If you answered yes to both of these questions then you will need to head to the Starboard immediately! Then get ready for muscle tops and bathing suits as far as the eye can see, orange/grapefruit/watermelon crushes, magnum champagne bottles, fantastic bar food, awesome bartenders and servers, girls with shot trays, and even Elvis spottings. My girlfriends and I were here for a bachelorette party this weekend and it also just so happened to be their 19th annual running of the bull celebration. Have you ever wondered what it feels like to party with 3000 people? Me either, really, but I feel like I am all the better for knowing. After wadding through people for a few hours, and several champagne showers(not even kidding) later, we settled up to one of the back bars and got lucky enough to get a seat. Matt, one of the bar tenders on duty, was absolutely killing it! I’m not sure how their staff don’t completely lose their minds at an event like that, but they handled it like pros and kept smiles on their faces the whole time. When we came back later than night after dinner and he was still there slinging cocktails, he even remembered us from before. Seriously? A+ service. I was amazed after seeing the parking lot look the way it did for the big event how quickly the staff cleaned up and re-set for the evening party. With multiple bars, and way less people, getting a drink was a breeze, but the party was still in full swing. Brunch the next day was also super fun. It took about 30 mins to get seated(not bad for such a busy place!) and the food was good. I was impressed with how big their menu is too! I didn’t understand how they could accommodate so many brunchers with so little seating, but as it turns out, they put out picnic tables in a few areas of the bar, so there is indoor and outdoor seating. The Starboard really is a well oiled machine! The King himself even graced us with his presence and sang a short set while walking around and mingling with his patrons. Another little perk that sets the Starboard apart from it’s competition? They give out water bottles. I wish more bars did this! They have a huge bucket of them at the entrance for you to grab coming or going. Great touch!

The best and worst thing about the Starboard is, it’s cheap, in both price and attitude. It’s unpretentious, down to earth and over the top. So many empty natty ice cans on the ground that you have to kick through them like sand on a beach. Students and blue collar workers can still afford to party like rockstars here, chugging champagne from $ 30 magnum bottles, downing very tasty very alcoholic mango and grapefruit crushes, or massive goblet’s of scotch, with enough Johnnie Walker to drown an elephant for $ 8. The level of intoxication that these options, at these prices create is equal parts horrifying and hilarious. Several simultaneous beer pong competitions going on at multiple sides of the massive bar. Picture drunks so drunk that the only thing that’s holding them vertical is each other. I saw several grinding domino chain falls as one went down and several nearby tumbled in their wake as inadvertent collateral damage. It looked like the largest college co-ed party on earth, with enough freedom to party as hard as they want, without enough restraint or experience to fear the monstrous hangover the morning will unleash. Do you like drinking irresponsibly while singing along to 90’s cover bands? Starboard will leave a sloppy smile on your face.

Oh man. The Starboard. :) For a long weekend in Dewey, my group ended both our nights here! It was a young, fun crowd with a bumping dance floor and beer pong. Not to mention, the grapefruit crushes were absolutely ONPOINT. Get One. ASAP! As long as you don’t mind copious amounts of bachelorette parties, then you should be golden! We never actually ate here, but the nightlife was a lot of fun! Also, they give out complimentary water when you leave at night! I was pretty smitten with this bar and hope to come back soon!

I would say this is my favorite place in Dewey Beach. I went for dinner, then back later in the evening. The restaurant is very beachy and relaxed, a very shore shack type vibe with sports playing on the tvs, fun signs, and lots of outdoor seating. Service was fine, the facilities are clean but tight in space. The prices are very reasonable, and extra great because of no sales tax in Delaware. For dinner, I had the lump crab cake sandwich and it was the best I’ve ever had. There was so much crab in the sandwich, not too much mayo, so you could taste the fresh crab. I added tartar sauce to add some extra flavor, but the sandwich was perfect. The fries were fine as well. I would recommend though the surf&turf burger as you get a huge burger plus the crab of the crab cake sandwich for an actually cheaper price. On Sunday nights, Starboard has a live band Kristen & Johnny who were really great. Both are awesome singers and are really talented.

I can’t believe I haven’t written a review of this place. Been going here since 2001. The best bar in Dewey. It is an older crowd in Dewey(20’s something crowd flocks North Beach, Bottle and Cork). Never a cover charge for the live bands. I’m just still amazed how they can clean this place for breakfast and doesn’t smell like alcohol. Best breakfast in Dewey and always order their Egg Delmava, which has two lump crab Benedicts(ask them to warm up the crab meat; it sometimes comes out very cold) and lots of hash browns. They expanded their menu and have weekly specials like $ 10 crab cake dinner on Wednesday, cheesesteak, burger specials, etc. Big fan of their crush drinks(Orange, ruby red grapefruit) and somehow this place just lures you in. I’ll have just one drink turns into a long night of partying.

Pretty good place for brunch /breakfast. Armadillo eggs are good. Brisket with eggs Benedict. Best western omelet is my best friends favorite omelet ever! She gets it every time. Grapefruit crush needed a little more grapefruit juice. Their coffee was super sting.
