Everything was great. Service was great and they accommodated a tweak to the appetizer. The chef put on the best show I have ever seen at this style restaurant. Food was excellent and tasty. I highly recommend here over the other«famous» one.

First and last time I visit this Restaurant. Three of us went to dinner two had margaritas and one coke, the coke was $ 6.50REALLY!!! We expected a Japanese Chef and who we got was lets just say south of the border who overcooked two of the chicken dishes and forgot the woman next to me scallops, he cooked them after she was done with her meal and then he cooked sprouts for all of us cause he forgot to cook them with the meal. To many other restaurants to go to in the area… Forget this one.

We came to Hana to celebrate my sisters birthday. The food was pretty good. Our waitress was very attentive and the chef was funny and got our orders out perfectly. I would definitely recommend this place. But be sure to make reservations or you will be waiting a while.

I’ve always had an amazing time at this restaurant! Our cook vinh is amazing! We’ve had him a few times and he is so sweet and personable and puts on a great show with the laser pointer. But best of all, he cooks the food well. While some of the servers put on a good show, the food isn’t always cooked the best, but he nails it! Definitely recommend

We had the worst experience here last Saturday night. We had reservations for 8:00pm for 6 people. We waited and waited and waited. By 8:30pm we asked when we were going to be seated and the hostess offered no explanation and said there just isn’t a space and will be another 10 minutes. In the meantime, my husband uses the restroom and discovers it is filthy. There are marks on the walls, dirt on the floor and it looks as though it hasn’t been cleaned in quite awhile. After another 10 minutes goes by we ask for an update on when we will be seated and with out an apology the hostess says there still isn’t a table available. By this point, we have waited 45 minutes and we decided to call another Teppanyaki restaurant Ozora in Pleasanton, They were able to get us in and we went there instead. We are so glad we did. The food was amazing, prices were cheaper, the restaurant was spotless and we felt so welcomed and taken care of. Hana of Japan has lost our business for sure but we are glad because now we have a new favorite spot, OZORA!

Really, really bad. Extremely overpriced and the food was inedible. Such a bummer since we’ve been coming since we were kids. Never again! Well head to Benihana

Just called to make a reservation for my 5 year old daughters birthday. They asked me to bring proof of it being her birthday either 7 days before or after. I said it was 9 days before and she said that they wouldn’t be able to give her the whole birthday shabang because it was too far away. Oh and you can’t take pastries or cake. I mean come on she’s 5!!!

Great food and fun show. Our chef, Alberto, was very entertainingly and friendly, especially towards the little ones at the table. Usually, when I go to Benihanas and other restaurants like this, the food has no taste. Hana Japan was very flavorful, even the kids ate their vegetables! My only complaint was that our California roll appetizer had barely any crab meat, but I guess it’s expected since that’s not their specialty.

This is my favorite restaurant in Dublin. The fried rice is awesome and the special(chicken and steak) is amazing. My favorite pot stickers are made here along with a Lemon Drop Martini is the perfect meal. But the chefs and the staff are also friendly and entertaining. We love it here

Tonight was the worst experience I’ve ever had at Hana Japan in Dublin! Tonight myself and 4 other family members went out for a nice meal to treat my «10 year old» niece because of the wonderful show they put on for birthdays. Unfortunately it turned into a humiliating event! After everything was done and food was eaten, we were told that because we didn’t present my «10 year old» niece BIRTHCERTIFICATE, they were unable to discount/comp her $ 8.75 meal. All the years I’ve frequented thus place I’ve never witnessed anyone presenting a BIRTHCERTIFICATE, for this matter it was outrageously embarrassing! My niece just wanted to leave, and didn’t like the scene. For this reason I will no longer do business at this location, especially when you have to negotiate at birthday comp for $ 8.75. Unilocalers, if you’ve experienced this and think I need to just get acquainted with the requirements for children on birthdays, please let me know, so I don’t feel singled out! Enjoy Unilocalers, and eat up!

We have probably been here over five times. Our kids love coming here for the entertainment(especially the onion volcano!). And, for some reason, the show does seem to help with their appetite. We ordered the filet mignon for our kids to share. My wife and I shared the steak and shrimp combo. Both steaks were cooked as requested = medium well. The shrimp and fried rice were both good as well. The chief was entertaining and the service staff was good. Overall, a four star place. I would have considered higher, but they changed their free birthday dinner policy and it isn’t as beneficial as it once was.

Place is in dire need of a facelift. It looks like it has not been touched since it opened a few decades ago. It really shows its age. and not a in a good away. The cook was friendly and intertwining, and my 5 year old had a blast. Otherwise, the staff looked worn out, and the food was just OK, and the wait was loooong.

Hana Japan has been a favorite of family and friends as a place to celebrate birthdays or special events for a small group of people for many years. Our most recent visit was for my nephew’s 6th Birthday. He and his other two brothers order a «Cherry Coke,» which was delivered as a Roy Rogers, naturally by our server. Requesting only one refill each, we find that not only were we charged premium beverage prices for a modified fountain drink, but charged the same full price for each refill. Never having been told any of this from our server, what insulted us the most was not even the Birthday boy received anything more than an accumulative blow at the«sacred birthday candle,»(which need to be replaced, by the way) and a decoratively carved pineapple boat. For a child?!? Even though we made plans ahead??? A disgrace to the rest of us in the Food and Beverage industry… Not sure who was more grumpy. Great Long Islands, though. Cudos to the Bartender on making them like I do. But when we talked, you should have had some professional courtesy, it was only a fountain drink with a 3-count of Grenadine. Not EVEN the Birthday Boy? Server, your obligation to your clients is to communicate, not rip off. Mandating a 17% tip for a group of 8 or more is common practice for some; however, when 3 were under the age of 8, I question the ethics of all at that point. Beside, I usually tip more than that to begin with. Lost on that one! Insulting, to say the least.

I came here on a Friday around 745pm with no reservations. We waited about 30 minutes but they didn’t really give us a wait time either. Place was PACKED. As noted by many other reviewers, this restaurant sure does have a FUNKY smell. When walking through the front door, it just smelled like a dirty flat iron grill. The host showed us to our seats and before I even sat down, it reeked of dirty wet carpet. I couldn’t pin point where it was coming from but when I went to wash my hands, it smelled exactly the same in the restaurant. It’s a small place and it’s probably not properly ventilated. I can’t recommend this place for a date night. It’s too loud and distracting in my honest opinion. Plus you’re pretty much supposed to pay attention to the show put on by the chefs. The food wasn’t bad. They give you two pieces of shrimp for free as an appetizer. That’s cool, but they didn’t even ask anyone if they were allergic to shellfish. I can see that being off putting to some. The beau and I each ordered the chicken + steak special. The food wasn’t bad. Portions were just a little more than I’d normally eat but that’s not really something to complain about since you can pack it to go. They do mixed veggies for the whole table. He got a bunch of zucchini and I got a bunch of onions. Guess it just depends on how the chef is scooping up the food. They keep all the meat portions separated though. Vin was our chef for the night. He was super entertaining and had some really relevant jokes. Big ups to him and his jolly self. TLDR: Busy and small restaurant that smells really bad. Food is mediocre. You pay for the show. Pro tip: Try to get a seat away from the bathroom…

It’s amazing how this place can pack in a crowd on a weekend! Their free birthday dinner(for parties 4 or more) really brings people in! We come here on occasion, and although we only had 3 people, we came for my husband’s birthday so our 4 year old son could enjoy the dinner/show. It really is a small restaurant where they pack you in. I find sitting on the corner near the pole is a bit squished, but it’s fine. My son enjoyed the«show», and the food is decent. There were several kids at the table/stove we were at, and the chef was pretty good a joking around with them — it’s appreciated!

This is the place my little brother decided to celebrate his bday at and I must say he chose wisely. The drive up there from the East bay, during rush hour was a pain in the butt but once we got there and we all had a beer, we got over it. Despite the fact that my sister in law had made a reservation, we still had to wait about 10 — 15 minutes. Finally we got seated and everything starting moving along quite nicely. We shared a few rounds of sake bombs and finally our cook, Chef Ryan came to the grill. He was by far the best Teppan Chef I’d ever had. He was funny, he was friendly, he was extremely talented with his tools. The food portions weren’t that great for the price but the fun experience we had at Hana Japan with Chef Ryan was definitely worth it. Ask for him or check him out if you decide to try this place, I know i will. :)

The food is ok. It’s not great. I’ve been coming here for family birthdays for years. It may have slipped a notch or two over the years. They are trying to fit more people in each table than they had in the past. If you are on an end, they try to fit 3 places there, the chairs barely fit, much less chairs with people in them. Like I said, the food is ok. The real entertainment is watching the cooks do their thing. That’s still fun to watch. But the food is loaded with butter and salt. On the positive side, the bartender pours a very strong drink. Kudos to him for that. In fact, I recommend a stiff drink before dinner. It’s the way to go. Will I be back? Sure, I’m sure I will be back at some point.

Hana Japan is my favorite restaurant of all time. It’s a Japanese steakhouse and the main dishes they cook right at your table are steak, chicken and seafood. I’ve been coming here for years for family birthdays and other special occasions. You can have a free(up to $ 23.95 off) birthday dinner during the week of your birthday with a party of 4 or more. All of the food is excellent and the cooks are entertaining. I especially like the New York Steak and Shrimp combo. It comes with soup, salad, vegetables and steamed rice. I highly recommend upgrading to the fried rice because they make it very well here. If you tell them it’s your birthday, they will give you a pineapple boat for dessert too.
