Plus: Food was good, for the most part. Minuses: 1.“Taco Micro” would be more apt. Almost nine dollars for 3 small tacos? 2. Music is much too load – dial down the volume, muchos, por favor. 3. Food is overpriced. 4. We were given no chips – nada – first time that has happened in a Mexican restaurant. We were however, issued a tired looking bowl of sliced onions and wilted green peppers(for the tacos?). It was almost an insult. Declined to eat for fear of ptomaine. There are better-valued Mexican restaurants nearby, and the next time the taco urge occurs, I will go there instead.

I loved this place. The food was awesome. We had a torta loca. Not may tortas to be had in cbus. This place has 2 on the menu. AND… ready for this Ohioans? THETORTASCAMEWITHFRIES!!! The tortas was aweseome and the fries put it over the top! We also had the beef tongue chorizo and carnitas tacos. If you order the taco set and decline the side dishes and ask for more tacos. They will do this no prob. I would take you here and maybe even pay!

This was my second trip to Taco Loco over the past year. I forgot how close it is to where I work, even closer than Hass! I brought a couple of my friends with me this time, one who loves tacos and another who has never stepped beyond the world of Tex-Mex — so that was fun :) I ordered the chorizo and pastor tacos, and honestly, I couldn’t really tell the difference. That was ok though because they were absolutely delicious! The tacos came with a choice of beans or rice, and I opted for the beans which were awesome as well. I like the fact that they bring out the hot peppers and onions like they have at Los Guachos, but if you want the salsa verde or hot sauce you have to ask for them. Otherwise, they have bottled hot sauces on the tables. I would highly recommend asking for these sauces though because they are both amazing. Be careful with the hot sauce, it is insanely spicy! My friend who likes the authentic tacos was really happy we tried this place, he said his tacos were also amazing. He tried a different type of taco(I can’t remember then name) but it was spicy and had jalapenos. My other friend opted for the fajitas. I was shocked when the fajitas came out because it was ridiculous! So much food! He said the difference between these and other fajitas he has had was pretty crazy. He ate everything so I am assuming they were very good. The service here is awesome as well. Everyone is super friendly, and they accommodated any request we had. I will definitely be back here soon!

My boyfriend and I went to Taco Loco after reading all the positive reviews. While our overall experience wasn’t bad, our food was lacking flavor. I ordered the torta loca and was very disappointed. I couldn’t finish the whole thing due to the copious amount of mayonnaise on the sandwich. Tbh, it’s making my stomach churn just thinking about it. Also, my torta was served with French fries? Weird. My boyfriend ordered the chorizo and pineapple tacos. I had one taco and enjoyed it much more than my torta. My only problem is the price. $ 9 for three average size tacos? My favorite taco place, La Super Torta, offers tacos for $ 1.75 or $ 2.00 a piece. I ordered guacamole for the chips, but it could have used additional seasoning. The ordering process was easy, and I loved that an employee brought out the food. Everything in the restaurant was clean and the employees were friendly. I might try Taco Loco again if I’m out near Bethel and Sawmill, but I definitely won’t be running back anytime soon.

I’m going kick my review up a notch because I just got a comment that might blow everyone away. I invited my friend and her boyfriend here for dinner last night. My friend is originally from Texas so she thinks nothing can come close to the food she has there. Let me tell you something Taco Loco just came close to that! Yes, my friends you heard that right. Taco Loco was just declared similar to Texas street food from an anonymous reviewer. I’ll tell you what the dish that was declared the same stuff you get off the streets in Texas. If you order their beef tacos and ask for spicy sauce you will see a comparison to the food you get in Texas to the authentic Mexican food from this restaurant. I would not know this as I have not been to Texas and not experienced any of their food so this must be a huge compliment to the restaurant in general. The girl asked her boyfriend if he would take her back here more often so she could enjoy her home food. He said sure honey we’ll come back here soon. Again my husband is praising his steak quesadilla and it was well deserved last night since he hit his bonus at work. So this meal was a celebratory meal for him. He cannot also wait to come back and enjoy more food. I will praise the chips and guac for just being super delicious. It’s too bad they couldn’t take the tomatoes out for my friend since she can’t have them but otherwise it’s my favorite appetizer there! I will also go further as to say I enjoyed my carne asada meal and almost got blown away by the poblano pepper! I can officially say that if you are looking for authentic Mexican food or also known for being declared as street favorites from Texas you’ll love this place.

Taco Loca had very good service and food, but the price was a little steep. We ordered tacos and 2 kinds of fajitas — both were very good. The bill was over $ 30 for this. It seems like the minimum number of tacos you can get is 3(for either $ 8 or $ 9, I can’t remember), you can’t order them individually like other places, but you can mix/match the kind of tacos you want. The guac was a little bland for my taste and the salsa was a little sweet. You do get a great deal of food for the price… for instance, the fajitas are enough for 2 people. The location isn’t the best as you can’t make a left hand turn in/out of the location, but it shares a parking lot with the bowling alley. If you do visit Taco Loco, make sure you save enough room to visit Diamonds Ice Cream right next door!!! I would go to Diamonds by itself, but it’s a definite must if you visit Taco Loco, the bowling alley, or any other establishment in the area!

This place used to be a Grinders– do they even exist any more? I went to this one a lot since it was right around the corner. Taco Loco has updated it, and it’s pretty nice. I started with guacamole and chips. Amazing. The guac is fresh and chunky, and I would eat it with a spoon. The chips are also fresh. They came with a somewhat spicy mix of peppers and onions– just right for me, call it medium hot. Next I had the three taco entrée, and chose chorizo, carnitas, and birria(seasoned shredded beef here, though some places use goat.) All three reminded me of a long-ago trip to Mexico. Great street tacos: good tortillas, super-fresh fillings, tasty meat. My favorite was the birria– not hot, but full of spices, and very tasty. I was less impressed with the chorizo, which wasn’t spicy or even very flavorful, and with the carnitas, which were tender and moist but pretty bland. Everybody was very friendly. Prices are great– so low for such high quality. Fountain pop was free with my meal, and they have bottled pop, margaritas, etc. Even though it’s out of my way now, I’ll make a special trip back to explore the rest of the menu.

Taco Loco seems to be secretly hidden in a small shopping strip off Sawmill Rd. and across from Carriage Place. At first we had trouble locating the restaurant and just as we were about to give up, we pulled into Carriage Place to get our bearings. My wife looked out car window and surprise of surprises, there it was directly across Sawmill Rd. from where we were parked. Although I’ve eaten at different Mexican restaurants around the city, Taco Loco taste experience for me reminded me of the authentic Mexican tastes I enjoyed in Mexico years ago and one from Taco Loco that I will not soon forget. When my wife and I went to Taco Loco for a recent event, we were in a very unique and special environment. We walked in, saw our friends and were told we should go to the register to place our orders. Caesar, the owner, graciously introduced himself, gave us copies of the menu and explained the ordering process. We asked lots of questions about the complex menu and he patiently answered them all and even made some menu suggestions for us. My wife had the huge Buckeye Burrito, a burrito packed full of perfectly seasoned shredded pork tips, picco de gallo, steamed rice, pinto beans and green sauce(which was a initially pretty salty). I decided to heed suggestions from our table and have a sampler of three different Tacos; a Shrimp Taco, a Grilled Steak Taco, and Taco Carnitas. In a word, they were delicious, different, exciting, juicy(not dry or over cooked), crispy, tangy, and just enough heat to awaken the tastebuds. Additional sauces or peppers could be added to increase the heat if desired. Wait a minute! That was more than just«a word,» but I couldn’t help myself. I was surprised at first to see the presentation of my tacos. The tacos were rather small and round, but crammed full of goodness with a double layer of tacos around the inside goodness. I’d always thought fish or seafood tacos would be disgusting ever since I first heard of them years ago, but my Shrimp Taco included jumbo size shrimp, tomatillos, cheddar cheese, and fresh(not frozen) ingredients — a rarity. The Grilled Steak Taco was excellent and not to be passed over. The generous portion of steak on this taco was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The last taco on my sampler was the Taco Carnitas, a combination of deliciously cooked and seasoned pork tips with fresh, flavorful cilantro, onions and tomatillo salsa with a side of refried beans, tortilla chips and salsa and endless refills on my fountain drink. Any three combinations of tacos available for only $ 8.49 and the Burrito Buckeye was also $ 8.49. Taco Loco is a very relaxed atmosphere where even Caesar came to the table and asked us how we were enjoying the meal and even took pictures of our table. We’ll be back. There isn’t any handicapped access in the front of the restaurant, but I noticed such parking was available next door at Paletas Y Nieves in their parking lot. So, to top things off, at the end of our dinner at Taco Loco we all went next door to Paletas Y Nieves to investigate the excitement of Mexican Popsicles.

Columbus, you are killing me with all of these delicious tacos lately. I stopped by Taco Loco for dinner, and it was an absolute triumph. I ordered a taco trio(lime chicken, steak, and grilled shrimp), and it arrived food truck style with a bowl of marinated peppers/onions and salsas on the side for toppings. Everything happening on my plate was bomb, and the salsa verde was perfect with the shrimp and chicken tacos. Pro tip: if you don’t like spice, you’re going to want to avoid the onion/pepper mixture at all costs. A little goes a long way, and your mouth will be set AFLAME(a good thing in my book). If things get too hot, eat some of the cucumbers they bring on the side to alleviate the heat and cleanse your palette. Afterwards, go next door to try a paleta(Mexican popsicle made with fresh fruit/ingredients) or nieves at Diamonds Paletas Y Nieves.

Columbus adventurers: I have your next date planned for you. You’re going to head to the vague«Northwest Community,» and you’re going to have THESLAMTACOSANDPALETAS. Your first stop is at Taco Loco… This is an old Grinders, but the interior looks brand new. The style of restaurant is more fast casual. So you order and pay at the front, and then get your drink and go sit down to wait for you food. The folks here are SUPERAWESOME… so nice, friendly, and accommodating. The guy working(the owner?) was happy to explain how everything worked, and he stopped by our table a few times to check on us. They have a pretty extensive menu, filled with street tacos and such. This place is definitely more on the authentic side, so you will not be getting the same Americanized Mexican food that most places in town offer.(Not that there’s anything wrong with that – it can be tasty too.) I decided on 3 tacos(plus beans) for $ 8.50. I had one chorizo and pineapple, one lime chicken, and one carnitas. They were all FANTASTIC. Yeah, $ 8.50 might be more than you’d pay at a taco truck, but this ain’t a truck. It’s a great sit-down restaurant. And the tacos are really heavy and filling; I couldn’t finish all of mine. Of the tacos, strangely enough the lime chicken was my fave!(And the chicken anything is never my favorite.) My gang also split a queso fundido with chorizo – NOMNOMNOM. I loved all the accoutrements that came with our meals: onions and peppers and two different salsas. I didn’t need any of it though… my food was perfect just the way it was. Okay, now on to the next part of your adventure: Head over to Diamonds Paletas Y Nieves for the most delicious Mexican popsicle you’ve(n)ever had!

Another weekend, another new taco joint for me to try. I always keep my eyes open on the Unilocal feed for places like this, and Taco Loco popped up for me a couple months ago for this first time, and I had to go scope it out. The original address that was listed on here is wrong, and it’s actually at 5467 Bethel Sawmill Center a.k.a. the old Grinders across from Sawmill Lanes. Everything on the inside of this place is new, and they offer a variety of dishes on a easel board up at the front. There’s no tacos al pastor here, but they do have some awesome steak and chorizo tacos. They pair the chorizo up with pineapple, and it actually works really well. The steak was probably my favorite, however, and I also ordered it in a quesadilla. Most of the food itself was tasty, but a few things were off for me. First, the guacamole was nice and chunky with onions and tomatoes, but it tasted a bit bland, and we had to add some salt to it. Second, the house red sauce only has a little bit of heat and is almost flavorless other than that. The green sauce is definitely the tastier of the two. I’m not sure if they bring these out automatically with your meal, because I asked for them before we got it. Onto the good: the tacos remind me a lot of some of my favorite places in town with maybe even better quality meat. The chorizo, for sure, was the best I’ve had in Columbus from a taco place like this. I didn’t try the chicken, but it looked like it made with a lime marinade. Our steak quesadilla is THICK. It was probably the thickest quesadilla I’ve ever had, and the meat was super tender and awesome. I liked the cheese, but my girlfriend wasn’t a fan and thought it tasted too much like queso. Pro tip: When they ask if you want rice or beans, get the beans! They were really, really good. I’m not sure when I’ll find myself back this way strictly to check out the place, but if you’re in the area, I’d recommend trying it. Also, you never know when you might need a taco fix before attending the gentlemen’s clubs next door!
