Great takeout. My favorite is the Tofu in Garlic Sauce. Fried tofu with lots of veggies, perfectly stir-fried.

No flavor. This was definitely a below average Chinese restaurant. Go to Happy China instead.

This is a below average Chinese American food place. My husband and I got two lunch combos which consisted of one dish and your choice of fried or steamed rice. The beef and broccoli was ok and the General Tso’s was a little on the soggy side and barely spicy. Also, the people working here seemed extremely unhappy, which never makes a good impression. The«pork fried rice» was weird. It was yellow and had bits of onion, but nothing else. not a single piece of pork. If you try really hard you can taste a little bit of that wok flavor, but that might even be a bit of a stretch. I have heard that the fried chicken wings here are good so I might come back and try that.

Yummy, yummy, in my tummy! I was having a craving for Chinese and my usual place isn’t open for lunch on Saturday(Say, what?!) so I started looking on Unilocal.I wanted to stay relatively close to home on this rainy day and saw consistently good ratings for Hong Kong, so we headed over. Egg foo young is pretty hard to find in the Triangle and I was happy to see it on the menu so I gave it a try. Wow, very pleasantly surprised and for $ 5.25 it was a steal! Two good sized patties come in the lunch portion with pork fried rice. Pork or chicken are the choices at lunch so I went all in on the piggy! The patty is fried perfectly with just enough crisp on both sides. Lots of pork, onions, and veggies on the inside too. It comes with gravy on the side to add on as much as you want. It was really good! I’d love to try it with shrimp next time. My gold standard on egg foo young was from a place that doesn’t exist anymore, Charlie’s Chinese in Chapel Hill, but this was definitely one for the running. It’s mainly take out, but there are a few tables to eat in. Just order at the counter and wait to be called. When ordering off the regular menu orders come in pint and quart size, which is something I don’t see around here much either. They have combination dinner options too. Looking forward to returning and trying more items on the menu.

Not sure why some reviews are so low in star ratings. Great Chinese food, even better fried rice. I am from Boston and used to quality Chinese, this place is very very close to what I’m used to in my regional taste. I highly recommend it to those exploring local Chinese restaurants.

Damn good egg roll, dumplings and boneless spareribs. All of the pork dishes we’ve had have been really good. If you order deep fried chicken I would ask for it extra crispy. If you like American Chinese food this is your best bet. Beef and pork are always good. Haven’t tried the shrimp.

Typical Chinese food. My wife thinks I’m being a little harsh but she should probably make her own account and buy her own dish and then make her own review. Ordered the sesame Chicke, it was a little chewy but the rice was good. I’m just hoping I went on a bad day so I’ll give them another chance soon.

This is my favorite Chinese takeout place in the Triangle. The General Tso chicken is always delicious and I love their chicken wings and fried wontons. I have also gotten their sweet & sour chicken, the chicken and broccoli, pepper steak, and the sesame chicken and they are all very good.

Disappointing. Maybe it’s my fault for ordering the Curry Chicken at a Chinese place, but it was very slimy and flavorless. The egg drop and hot and sour soup were pretty gross too; I even tried to add a bunch of soy sauce to help it out. Fried rice was a bit bright yellow but tasted decent. General Tso’s was okay but the chicken’s quality was iffy and the pieces were huge, not bite sized at all. Egg rolls were edible though not really filled completely, almost a little hollow. I only called here because New China didn’t answer their phone. Go there.

Cashew chicken is not chicken. it was slimy and shiny and tasted gross. I also ordered bean curd Szechuan style, which was a weird sweet and sour flavor. it tasted rotten. I tried to save the tofu by removing it from the sauce, but the nasty would not come off. It had been infused with the rotteness. The only dish that is edible is the vegetable lo mein. It’s a bit greasy though. Approach with caution!

This place is our favorite place to order Hot and Sour soup. Best of a kind and it is a staple in our orders at this place. Otherwise, I can recommend the curry chicken, the dumplings and wontons with sweet and sour sauce. My partner can recommend his favorites as sweet and sour chicken and orange chicken We also like their french fries and you get a lot for $ 1.50 — in general, portions are very large and the prices are affordable, which probably comes close to being cheap for most people. The place is in a strip mall and not the place to invite a date to(although we ate here a couple of times when we were moving and the house was still a mess). It is good for take out only or if you work close by and need a quick sit down lunch away from the office. We usually order in the place, then stop by Food Lion to do some grocery shopping because orders are freshly prepared and will be ready in about 15 to 20 minutes. The staff is all Chinese and you order by marking the items on a paper menu. Food is well packaged and in plastic containers for soup and sauces that you can reuse as regular storage containers. The fried menu(chicken fingers, scallops, fries etc) comes in styrofoam containers that are stapled shut so nothing will spill on the drive home. Overall, for cheap Chinese food, this is the place to go. In my opinion the food is really tasty, but do not go here if you want Asian fusion cuisine or anything but ordinary Chinese take out. We are giving it 4 out of 5 stars simply because the menu is the regular Chinese take out menu, but the dishes on the menu, we have never been disappointed and this is the only restaurant we regular order from.

Yuk! Ordered the Chicken Fried rice yesterday after seeing the 4star review at Unilocal. It was just bad, the rice was yellow in color and the Chicken(I want to believe that’s what it was) had a very weird texture, very moist and slimy. We brought it back home, separated the chicken pieces, fried it again with garlic, soy sauce and siracha, and it was barely palatable. Not going there again.

This place is great as long as you know what you’re getting into. If you crave a hearty portion of cheap, slightly greasy Chinese food then you’ve come to the right place.

Called for takeout and the woman was not very friendly. We ordered chicken fried rice and chicken lo mein. Both were just barely edible. The chicken. Was had a very squishy texture. Didn’t taste like real meat at all. The fried rice was yellow(how is that possible?) and overall very bland. The search for good tale out continues.

The worst part about moving is that you have to find a new Chinese takeout place. My favorite place when I lived in Carrboro was also called Hong Kong, so I took this as a sign from the gods and decided to give the Durham Hong Kong a go. I don’t claim to know anything about authentic Chinese food, but this is definitely authentic American Chinese food — the kind that I so sorely missed while in Europe. $ 7.25 for the sesame chicken combo, which comes with rice and an egg roll. The combo was an average size and pretty tasty, and I can be pretty picky about sesame chicken. This one was a little different, with just a touch of spice, but very much like the sesame chicken I’ve eaten at most Chinese places. My friends also enjoyed their General Tso’s chicken, egg drop soup and steamed dumplings. The only thing I had to complain about was the time it took for the order to be ready. Instead of the 15 minutes they told me, it took closer to 25. Still, the food and prices were great, and I’ll definitely be going back.

I’m very picky about how my sesame chicken tastes and only really order it when I’m out of this area. I ordered some here for the first time, and didn’t enjoy it very much. The restaurant seemed nice though, and the people who work there were also very nice as well. The prices are very decent, and are a lot cheaper than the other chinese restaurants I have visited. My food was also prepared quickly.

We got take out from Hong Kong. You get a good deal of food for the price; enough for a meal and some leftovers. Everything was okay. Nothing memorable, but appetizing, especially for the convenience. In summary, quick, filling and the people are friendly. No online menu, which is a bummer. Lucky for you, I have a scanner. See my photos for a scan of the menu(subject to change, of course). You might need really good vision to read it because Unilocal lowers the image quality, but you’ll get the idea at least. General Tso was good. Hunan beef just fair. Lo mein was good.

I wound up at Hong Kong the other night by virtue of it being close by and easy… and about the only place I was willing to go for food while still damp with sweat from my workout. I know, gross, but hey a girl’s gotta eat! Best to call ahead or you’re stuck sitting in a music-less, newspaper-less room staring at the«artwork.» Which leads me to my next. You know how Chinese restaurants often have those backlit photographs of dishes above the counter? Well in my boredom, waiting for my food, I began to notice that each of the photographs included a single red rose lying on the table. Take a moment and take it in people: red roses and Chinese takeout. It boggles the mind. I’d just as soon expect bottles of champagne or chocolate truffles to be on the counter beside the duck sauce. But I digress. I’m not really complaining about the wait; actually, I thought it was pretty great they were fixing my food up fresh instead of scooping it from a vat of prepared beef & broccoli. I mean, dinner for two with leftovers for under $ 20…and Chinese food straight from the carton while half-watching The Biggest Loser. Sometimes you just can’t beat a night in.
