I came here over a year ago and had the Amazing Grace crêpe, which was delicious. I visited again recently and ordered the Provence D’Lite crêpe and a spiced iced chai drink. The drink was great and the crêpe was okay but I kept looking for more Brie cheese, which I never found. The wait for the food was over 30 minutes, which I didn’t mind since quality food takes time and it was busy. I’m undecided on the quality since I don’t have many crêpe experiences.

Just ordered food here today. Service was pleasant as always. However when I unplaced my food at home I came to realize that 2 of the 3 items that were ordered were incorrect. To top it off all the items are cold preparation items and it took over 20 minutes to receive my order. Not to mention I was one of the only customers in the place. For 23 dollars on 2 wraps and a kids sandwich I would expect much more for the price. Sad that this is the only place in Durham and has gone downhill in the past few trips. Maybe to much time is bring spent at other locations and opening new ones that they forgot how to sustain quality.

I was so happy to be coming here to get some amazing crepes & to share this with my parents. The ambience was relaxing & they had a great 4 man band playing. So that was nice on the dreary cold Sunday morning. The food, I could take it or leave it. My parents ordered breakfast quesadillas(even though I was raving about the crepes the whole ride here), I ordered the Isabella(crêpe with Brie, strawberry jam & cinnamon sugar). Their food arrived promptly. They dug in as I sat and watched. Now my Dad has a hearty appetite, never a morsel untouched. He was not impressed to say the least. He actually didn’t even finish it, he threw out about half of it. The veggies were fresh — so that wasn’t a problem — it lacked flavor severely. The tortilla was dry, crusty & stale tasting. My mom was starving so she ate hers but said she wouldn’t come back. Apparently they forgot about me. I finally went up to the counter … Oh it just came up! Lucky me, what timing I said. Legitimately excited about my crêpe. So I sit down, dig in & it’s cold. So much for it just being done. Not wanting to wait another 15 mins … I dug in. Boy, was I disappointed. It was bursting with overly sweet strawberry jam & two thin slices of Brie. I scraped out almost all the jam folded the crêpe back up … And disappointingly ate my crêpe. This is my second visit. My first one was great — it was slow though, maybe that’s why? I did love the live music & the staff is pleasant & friendly. The restaurant is clean and again I do like the ambience. Will I go back? I don’t know, maybe the third time will be a charm!

Every time I get a coffee iced or hot latte it comes out different. The food is good especially their crepes

Chai tea latte was superb. Cappuccino was average. Awesome live music in the back. Bright space with chill atmosphere. Love the sustainable products/wind energy and meticulous recycling/composting. Crepes were on the chewier side as opposed to crispy(which I prefer). Salmon crêpe had good ingredients but were unevenly distributed in the crêpe. Province d’Lite crêpe was average, nice brie but nothing special.

Pros: The crepes are pretty delicious, I love the small town atmosphere where locals go each day and support small business(as do they using local dairy milk, etc), I give a 2 big thumbs up for their environmental initiatives(recycling, using compostable take out utensils). Cons: The coffee is not good, I think the owner should look in to this considering the word ‘Perk’ is in the name. I usually get the espresso drinks(Latte, Cappucino) and its always burnt, not well done. I’ve yet to taste the regular coffee, but other peoples comments have mentioned its not good. I think simply not over-roasting beans is a simple fix. talk to your supplier about that. The other con is the owner places too much trust in the high school kids who run the place. Often the wait is slow or the orders come out wrong which can be frustrating. With a few quick fixes on the 2 most important things(coffee & service), they would definitely get 5 stars from me! PS: I love your scones!

Honestly, I wanted to live this place. I have such a strong affinity for crêpes that I was more or less predestined to end up here at some point. This may have been the last place in CT for me to get crêpes from — so I didn’t mind making the 30 min drive. I love that they have decent hours and they have all kinds of crêpes available all the time! Unfortunately, I recently had the best crêpe of my life at a little French bakery in Florida, which left some big shoes for this hometown hero to try and fill. I ordered the Simple Jen and the Maple Avenue to form a baseline of where they stood. Also I had to share so I couldn’t get as wild as I wanted with fillings… Therein lies the problem most likely… I went with basic fillings and ended up feeling my crepes were pretty much empty. The Simple Jen is the baseline butter and cinnamon sugar crêpe. I expected something sweet and tasty, but instead it was very thin and way more spicy than sweet. The cinnamon they use was a bit too strong or they used to much, but it didn’t work at all. I shared it with my daughter who did not want a second bite after the first. The Maple Avenue was a bit better. The syrup worked well with the crêpe itself and the flavor was good — they were just tiny. These were honestly the thinnest crepes I’ve had. I was hoping for a little more than I got when visiting here. It’s like the crêpe itself was ok, but even though I didn’t get it filled with fruit or any savory options, it still should’ve been a bit more substantial. I will give them another try, most likely when they open their new shop in Middletown which is closer to home. I have a weird addiction to crepes so I can’t help but to be happy that a place centered around crepes exists remotely close me. My fingers are crossed for the next time I give them a shot…

Perk me up with a delicious crêpe! What is a better way to do so?(Hint: nothing.) A question asked by Perk on Main: Have you have a crêpe today? My answer: YES, and I got a great one [or two, probably three] from you! Being on a crêpe-kick, I had Perk on Main at the top of my list to try. Stopping in for the first time this afternoon with a friend, I was not disappointed! I found good service and excellent crepes. Perk on Main has every kind of crêpe you could possibly imagine, and if it is not listed, then they will make whatever combination of fillings you would like whether it is savory or sweet, fruits to spices. The texture of the crepes is perfect really makes for an enjoyable dish. The shop also has omelettes and sandwiches as well as various baked goods, should crepes not be of interest to you. The atmosphere is so relaxed and comfortable. Perk on Main makes it really easy to get your deliciousness, with a counter to place your order at the front of the shop and a spacious gallery with several sections to sit at a table of your choosing. Take a unique standing note-tag to display at your table that signifies your order and you are set to sit back until your treats are brought out to you. I was absolutely delighted and pleased with my peanut butter and banana crêpe(the Elvis without Nutella). It was delicious! Peanut butter and bananas filled a solid portion of the crêpe(there were the ends that could have been covered, too, but were left plain). There was a good amount of banana, with a piece in each bite I took!(Rarely do places use a good amount of fruit because of prices.) I had a little side of honey(upon request) to dip my crêpe bites into as well. Yum! I tried a berry crêpe(the Amazing Grace), too, and found it stuffed with bananas, [tiny] blueberries, and raspberries along with low-fat vanilla yogurt, topped with powdered sugar and a strawberry. It was a terrific flavor combination and very refreshing, easily a great choice for breakfast. My friend got a ham and cheese crêpe, that was served with home fries, and found it to be delicious as well. But really, if you come here, you need to try the peanut butter and banana crêpe; there is nothing like a warm and fresh PBB crêpe! The less perky – the only downsides of Perk on Main – is that it is pretty pricey and the coffee was not too good. My two crepes were $ 7 each. I had a crêpe in Boston with more fixings on it that cost less than that. Considering that there are few places for crepes around Connecticut, you are really paying for the specialty food. The quality of the crepes and ingredients in them are high, so this seems to make the higher prices somewhat more reasonable. Additionally, the plain coffee and vanilla latte were not good.(I have no idea how the cappuccino I ordered was since it never made it to me.) Be sure to pick your drink up on the lazy Susan at the counter – I asked for my cappuccino to be enjoyed in house with my crepes and realized after it was not brought over, only to find it sitting on the lazy Susan when we were walking out. The servers apologized when I said I did not know as I had never been in before and offered to remake it for me, but I passed and ordered a hot chocolate, which was pretty good. I plan on trying a cappuccino the next time I go back for my classic PBB crêpe. Perk on Main, you have a new fan in this crêpe-lover. I will be back – though maybe not as frequently since it is a little ways from me and it is a little higher in price – but, oh, will I be back to try every sweet crêpe that you have. I look forward to these crêpe-ventures.

As a traveling salesman, I’m always on the prowl for interesting places. It’s always a hit or miss. Perk on Main is a hit! My iPhone found it. The place it about 1000 times better than ANY Starbucks! After telling the friendly girl behind the counter I’d «start» with a coffee, she told me to help myself, have a seat and then let her know what I decide. After working for a half hour, I looked at the menus. Mostly crepes? Seriously? I was hungry and too impatient to look at more of the Crêpe based menu, so I ordered the Philly Cheesesteak. It was awesome! I’m not crazy about peppers, I don’t like mushrooms, and it was served with both… I loved it! Come to this place! My only critique would be to put a frekin cheeseburger on the menu, but, don’t! If there was, I would not have ordered a crêpe and experienced how wonderful it was.(Who knows, it might have even been healthier?)

Just finished picking apples at Lyman and we needed lunch. We decided to try Perk on Main. Staff was friendly and welcoming. We ordered two crepes to share, one savory, one sweet. The savory is called Rajin’ Cajun and was delicious. We wide the cheese was melted but thay certainly didn’t take away from the dish. Our sweet crêpe is the Park Avenue. We asked for no butter and it was perfect. Not too sweet, not bland at all. To top it off, we ordered a Chai tea which was also well above average. A little too sweet for me but most things are so it is made perfect for the average person. There are several other options we would love to come back and try. A gem in the area and worth the drive even if you aren’t close by.

I can only speak for the Hot Cider as it is all I have tried. I still can’t decide how I felt about it. It was almost as if they added a cream or sugar to it. It was much thicker then normal, and had a froth on it when I got it. It was like a latte but with the taste of apple cider. Personally I like my hot cider just heated up, but to each their own.

This place is fantastic, and the crepes are to delicious! The first time I tried them was at the Durham Fair and boy was I glad I did. Since then I have been meaning to stop in to Perk on Main and I finally made it. I ordered the banana fosters crêpe, and it did not disappoint. I will definitely be back to this place and would recommend that you make the trip as well.

While its close-by and the food is delicious, the service is only fair and my orders have consistently been incorrect. It’s a shame because the food is so good and the composting and recycling efforts are great.

I love this place, I always go after work on Saturday mornings. The staff are friendly and the crepes are awesome. I get the«Jack’s Berry Good Crêpe» as my usual and I’m never disappointed. They use fresh fruit when it’s in season and their Chai is always a great way to warm up in the colder months. I recommend this place to everyone.

I have been here a couple of times and each time my experience gets better and better… Last time I went was after a doctor appointment next door and had been fasting as requested for the previous six days so I needed food fast. I ordered the meaty something or other breakfast burrito, it had egg, bacon, sausage, something else and American cheese. It was the best breakfast burrito I’ve ever had be far. The other great thing is I ordered a iced coffee and they let me prepare it to my liking, they even offered liquid sugar which is a must when drinking cold coffee. I so wish they were closer to where I live but I guess I’ll have to make it a treat every time I go to the docs.

This place is addicting. From the welcoming, clean atmosphere and the beautiful views out the back window to the menu of reasonably priced delectable food. I came two days in a row and have been raving about this place to all of my friends. When I was there on Sunday afternoon there was a live band playing. This place is awesome. Even though it’s a half hour away from my house(each way), I can already tell that I’ll be making regular visits.

This is such a nice delicate place. We got the steak and cheese crêpe and the strawberry banana and blueberry crêpe, it is both amazing. The place is clean, organic, and healthy. If you sit at the back porch, the view is beautiful took. You get to see the beautiful mountain. Highly recommended! Just make sure you check their hours before you go.

This is a real nice place. I can say that I enjoyed my meal to the fullest extent. I had the chicken cashew curry wrap and it was delicious. I was told about this place before but didn’t know that it was this good. it kind of reminds me of Claire’s in New Haven the Organic. vegan feel really represented itself today. Nice job

What a pretty coffee shop. I had delicious berry and Nutella crepes and a well made cappuccino. They have wifi and cute café style tables. They do open mikes, which I will have to check out!
