Wow. it took me a while to find this gem. I thought I knew all the great spots on the Vineyard and so I was pleasantly surprised to find the Inn. Food was perfect. The outside terrace was excellent. The service was spot on, even on a very busy summer evening. It is fairly old world and totally New England, but not actually island-like. Very romantic or a fun evening with friends or your family. Not hip or trendy, but spot on for the Inn. Looking forward to more nights on the Terrace!

Fabulous dinner last night at Charlotte Inn. The scallops were fresh from the sea that day. Sooo good! Local chicken dinner was equally amazing. Finished with homemade ice cream. So creamy goodness! Little gifts from kitchen are so yummy, loved the treats from chef and pastry chef. We always make a night for dinner here each visit

The ambience inside is delightful and warm. The charm of the cape is fully captured by elite service and amazing food. It was Labor Day weekend and our 7pm dinner reservation was right on point. Loved, loved, loved the Lobster Risotto paired with a delicious white wine our server almost insisted on us trying. ;) Glad he did… I think we had two bottles total. Great atmosphere, cozy and the menu/food A+ (Photos to upload off SLR so check back)

We had dinner at this Resturant last night. Cute ambiance but unfortunately the food was just fair. Our main courses were cold when brought to the table and my pasta appetizer was ice cold and tasted stale. Tagliatelle pasta. Overall, not worth the prices, cold average food and below average service. Don’t waste your time

This is one of the most beautiful settings of a restaurant I have ever had the pleasure to dine. The dining room is cozy, clubby elegance. We dined outside on the patio surrounded by such lovely greenery. Grown in as if it has been there forever. The service was attentive. The menu had much to choose from and the food was excellent. It is the perfect place for a quiet romantic experience.

Sadly, we were really looking forward to our meal here but were told that our reservation for 5:30pm on a Monday afternoon could not be honored because we had a child under 12yrs old. We purposely made an early reservation for the quietest time, early on a Monday evening but apparently the Inn owners never had children or perhaps arrived on the planet when they were 13. Ridiculous in this day and age.

Service with Josh was excellent. He was knowledgeable and attentive. Unfortunately my meal was poor. Salad limp and filet mignon undercooked. Sent it back and it was still purple. They did take it off our bill but I expected better from a highly rated establishment.

Beautiful setting for a romantic dinner and dinner with friends. Everything was wonderful about the Terrace at the Charlotte Inn. The staff was friendly, food was delicious, service was excellent, and beautiful flowers throughout the room. The watermellon and feta cheese salad appetizer was perfect for a summer evening, rolls were freshly baked and the home made ice cream was fabulous. A favorite.

Beautiful, turn of the century boutique hotel and restaurant. You immediately understand the interior design combined passion, attention to detail and appreciation of the finer touches. My wife and I were pleasantly met at the entrance and escorted to the dining room. Wait staff, managers were all friendly and professional. The cuisine was delicious. We started with a pleasant amuse bouche of potatoe soup. For apps we shared Foie gras and Chef’s Hors Doeuvre(Halibut salad, pork terrine & cheese selection). They had Gluten free bread for my wife. Dinner was Tagliettele Bolognese for me and my wife, Lobster Duo, sautéed tail in creamy saffron sherry sauce, salad of farro, sunflower shoots, cranberry beans, & crispy pancetta(Salad of farrow substituted out). For dessert, rice pudding. Everything was fantastic. After dinner we sat in the study near a fire. Great experience.

Really nice restaurant in a historic house with abundant Edwardian decoration. Several rooms including a winter garden and courtyard. The food was prepared by a top chef, exquisite and presented professionally. Service was impeccable by a very attentive(but not overly so) knowledgable waiter. This is not a place where you want to take young children. Do not show up in a t-shirt, jackets for the gents are encouraged. This was the perfect restaurant for our 35th anniversary. Before dinner cocktails, wine, appetizers and main course amounted to about $ 250, and we did not regret it a bit! Will be back for a special occasion. Check for opening days during the offseason on the Vineyard.

Racist and rude. See my review on the hotel. Though we had checked in earlier in the day, when we came back for dinner, they assumed that we were just there for dinner when they greeted us at the door because so few non-whites stay there. We asked to push 2 tables together to accommodate the 8 of us, which they did the first night. But they weren’t used to seeing a black man, 2 Asian girls, and an Indian couple. The second night, they refused to push the tables together. They simply said, «It can’t be done.» We were asked to leave. When we asked to speak to the owner, we were told he was asleep at 7:30pm at night.

My hubby and I went to The Terrace to celebrate our anniversary. Both from the perspective of service and quality, this is by far, the best restaurant we’ve ever been to. We were given a private table and prosecco on the house to celebrate our special occasion. We were also the last guests to leave, but at no point felt rushed or unwanted even though we were the only thing standing between the staff and the door. Highly recommend this restaurant especially if you are celebrating any special occasion. We will definitely be back!

Best overall dining atmosphere on Martha’s Vineyard. A-one service. Quiet, relaxed. Beautiful surroundings. Inventive menu.

The service here is nothing short of five stars. Walking in I felt overwhelmed and out of place as a late 20s couple in a beautifully decorated high class establishment. The staff immediately treated us with respect and made us feel extremely comfortable. I have never been in an establishment so dedicated to pleasing their clients in my life. You really felt like they cared about your experience. I highly recommend enjoying a cocktail in their«green room» before your dinner to enjoy the amazing pieces and art the owners themselves have picked out. The food in my opinion was priced very well for the quality. I enjoyed the filet with au grautin potatoes. And they were phenomenal. My fiancé had the local vegetable risotto that was amazing. I highly recommend this beautiful establishment for every reason from quality of food to the incredible service to the amazing atmosphere.

The Terrace at The Charlotte Inn was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had. The employees are professionals – even going so far as to serve the eldest woman at the dinner table first, and subsequently decreasing in age, and then on to the eldest man and so on. When we arrived at the Inn, we were seated in the sitting room area while we waited for our table. The interior of the Inn is such that you think you are walking into a museum, complete with intricate oil paintings. The sitting area was designed with an equestrian theme in mind. With two large brown leather armchairs in front of the fire, you could imagine enjoying a Downton Abbey-esque post-hunt scotch and cigar. After enjoying our drinks here, we moved to our table in the dining room. After being seated and asked which type of water we would like(still bottled, still tap, sparking bottled?), we were handed menus and told that the special was locally caught Sole. In fact, the hostess/manager informed us that most of the Terrace’s ingredients are sourced from around Martha’s Vineyard, which we loved. The table of eight ordered a variety of the following: lobster & avocado salad mixed green salad Sole French Onion Soup Chicken Breast All of the food items were amazing, and that is saying something given that we went out to dinner at the other fine dining places on the island for the three nights previous! To top it off, there were two items that made our SF hearts say«we love this place!»: salted caramel ice cream and the fact that they have two(!) resident golden retrievers!

Charming setting — Victorian with a haute attitude(they have a dress code — be advised, no jeans, button down shirts, no knit shirts — they have jackets). I waited so long to enjoy chef Melnicks cuisine again… So glad we found him again! His persnickety attention to detail, still captivates our palate. His straight forward cuisine, always meticulously crafted, with high quality, local products, a welcoming party. Although he gets to play with dough(pasta), The Terrace offers nouveau American that fits in so well with the spirit of the restaurant, and he gets to play with the menu. He has his new take on «chefs plate» — a cheese, charcuterie and meat platter, he changes daily. Today we were lucky to have a light and airy salmon mousse with red pepper coulis on delicate greens lightly tossed with a home made vinaigrette. Chicken salad on brioche and cheese rounded out the plate. Washed it down with Kayo’s manhattan — a family recipe worth imbibing… James, our server, whips up mean, seriously mean cocktails! The roasted trumpet cream of mushroom… SHUTTHEFRONTDOOR! Silky with delicate chunks of lightly charred mushrooms… Pure elegant indulgence. We also enjoyed his roasted trumpet mushrooms… Blue cheese and fig risottto delivered sweet, salt and creamy madness, drizzled with age balsamic, and local clams embraced chitarra pasta. Emily Melnicks sweets adorn the final countdown, with a chocolate tart with caramel sauce and sea salt that is … Perfect. Service was sweet, personable, witty, elegant with human caring. 5 Stars? Yes, for elegantly doing really well what chef excels at. It is «upscale-ish» and pricey, but the quality and the price go in step. Chef, we missed you! Thank you for a memorable meal!

The Terrace is new at the Charlotte Inn(was Il Tesero). The space is always lovely, like a victorian sunroom. The service is impeccable, as you might expect for the price. We had several apps & all were good; brie & fig, salad, and calamari. Swordfish was good, of course very fresh & well cooked, with a nice buerre blanc sauce & perfectly cooked green beans. Desserts were indulgent & good. Overall I would say it was very good, however it was not an orgasmic-food-love-fest-in-my-mouth, which for the price I was hoping for. It is a beautiful place, and nice for a special occasion meal.
