Ventured in here during a vacation for some after hours wine bar and cheese and meat plates. With three people we got one cheese plate and one meet plate and the olives and were full and enough that dinner wasn’t as appealing afterwards. Surprisingly filling for such a little plates. Wine was great and atmosphere was very dark(candlelit in fact) and trendy. I don’t think it’s a service restaurant during the day but stop by at night for a special treat and either a quick before dinner snack or go ahead and call it dinner! Cheese: Truffle Trente(or something like that, can’t read the label on the photo I took. But… omg!) 5 year Gouda Black label comboda meats: VT smoke & cure peppercorn Calabrese salami Coppa piccante For the night owls definitely leave the kids at home, this is no place to bring children. Great place for a romantic night out or just some fun with the girls. I’ll likely be back on my next visit.

We really wanted to love this place. We walked in during the day for a glass of wine around 4pm. They told us that wine wasn’t available yet but to please come back that night. We came back at 6:30pm for a glass of wine and appetizer. It was dark with candles lit. Very romantic setting. The wine list had a good selection. Since we didn’t have food in our stomachs we decided to share one glass of wine. When asking the server to share a glass she rolled her eyes so we said, «okay, just one glass of wine and please bring an extra glass.» She brings the glass of wine back but not a second glass. When I asked for another glass she sighed and stomped off. She brought a glass back with an attitude. I then, just said that I was pregnant and only wanted one sip or so of the wine. It shouldn’t matter why I want to split the glass of wine. My mom is in her 60’s and we split glasses of wine everywhere we go. This is the only person in our 8 day vacation throughout Martha’s Vineyard, Providence, and Boston that gave us trouble about sharing a glass of wine. Sorry, I’m ranting but I was quite irritated. We ordered their olive appetizer and just felt awkward so we paid and went on to a few more restaurants to share glasses of wine and appetizers. Really wish she treated us better because we wanted to stay for dinner but had a bad taste in our mouth.

Cute little shop on the outer streets of Edgartown with a lovely garden outside. They sell gourmet-style wines, cheeses, pastries, coffees and much more. Also sell an interesting cooking slab of granite used for preparing food. Having a free sample of their genoa salami was a plus!

I stumbled upon this spot, and want to make it THE spot. During the day, the Black Sheep is a cheese and picnic shop with wine and cheese paraphernalia galore. The owner is a DOLL who is passionate about food, cheese and WINE. At night, the place transforms and magic happens. It is an experience for foodies and wine-os and newbies to the food/wine experience. During the day, picnic foods to go, cheeses, crackers, sandwiches, salads, wonderful pastries. At night, its a sultry seductress for the dusk senses. And served with the charming and warmth of its owner.

A true wine bar. Candle-lit, inside and out, 2012 is the second season for this little spot(and I hope it gets more seasons under its belt!) Pros: Great wine list available by the glass, bottle or flight. Incredible selection of cheeses for every palette — and cute names too boot! Totally cute on the inside(A drift wood chandelier? Loved it!) Not crowded at all — even at 8pm on a perfect-weather Saturday in August; sat right down. Friendly, attentive service. The most incredible complimentary noshes: olive tampanade and this herbed-olive oil dip. I would marry that olive oil dip if I could. Affordable: Each cheese plate ranged from $ 14-$ 20 each. We ordered two plates for 6 people and had plenty to enjoy! Cons: Wine only. No beer. No other booze. Tons of cheese and charcuterie, but not much else. Such a romantic ambiance — except for the shelves of Food Should Taste Good chips in the back room, and soft-drink fridge in the front(do they double as a deli during the day?) Bathroom opens directly into the backroom-seating(just keep the door closed, otherwise half the table gets a view they may not enjoy). Depends on your circumstances, pro/con: Not for the kids. If you’re cholesterol isn’t too high, great for killing the wait time for your main-course table to be ready, or make a meal out of the lipid-heavy tapas here!
