I am a fan of this restaurant. They have wine but it is also a ByoB. It is located in city Place next to Baumgarts, which is another old favorite of mine. Greek Taverna has tremendous portions and their prices are commensurate with the quality and quantity. My husband and I usually bring a bottle of wine and share a Gyro Platter(which we always have left overs), and their unlimited olive oil sprinkled warm pita slices are good. I have brought my parents here also on special occasions and they enjoyed the branzino and the steak. The food quality and service is very good. I highly recommend it

Great location in the promenade but the food just simply falls flat. It looks and even feels like it would be a good dining experience but just wasnt. Ordered the gyro platter and the gyro meat lacked flavor. Seems like they went with a lesser quality meat wnd the meat lacked seasoning. This reminded me of a «its greek to me» chain rather than authentic greek. Service was good dont get me wrong just food was lacking.

Just ran in for a dessert take out… Got 2, $ 14.00,. horrible horrible horrible. More is defiantly not better. They try to make typical Greek desserts their own… Horrible! Stick with the basics. What a waste

I don’t think I’ve ever given a 1 star rating. It’s Mothers Day, I order food to go. Got home and first off, you shouldn’t have a salad in the same bowl as a hot food. Who wants a warm wilted salad? And the container had liquid at the bottom from the vinegar on the salad. My chicken platter looked delicious but had NO Salt, a little salt goes a long way on food, even after adding salt myself, it still wasn’t good. And the potatoes, you can tell they were old and oily. My bf got the seafood grill mixed platter $ 25 – 30 it’s mainly calamari, a few chopped pieces of octopus and 2 shrimps in the platter… SO not worth the $. My grill chicken platter was $ 17, a side of rice $ 8 wasn’t even good either and the tzakiki sauce on the side was addl $ 3 This meal was not worth $ 60!!! So disappointing…

Good food. Don’t order jumbo shrimp, at $ 3.00 a shrimp, it’s small and they call it jumbo. It’s very dishonest. And they argue their point.

With the beautiful weather I thought this was the perfect spot to sit waterside and enjoy a delicious meal. The location is great I just wish they took more pride in their food. I notice when restaurants have a prime location they sometimes feel that’s enough but don’t realize that it’s the food that has customers coming back. I got a horiatiki salad with chicken as well as the fried zucchini nothing seemed fresh or flavorful. One star for location and the 2nd to the friendly gentleman who greeted us at the door to seat us.

The service and the food was very good! My only complaint it’s for the greek fries! Why you guys call them Greek fries when they’re hard like potatoes chips???

I’ve dined at Greek Taverna a number of times, and I have yet to be disappointed in the food or service. I have gotten the hummus on many occasions. I noticed the last time I was there the taste was off, and it was not as creamy as it usually is. The Lamb Souvlaki on the lunch menu was very good. I’ve also had the Gyro there and it was also wonderful. In the past I’ve had a lamb dish for dinner with the spinach rice, and it was also very good. This is a restaurant I plan on returning to in the future. :)

Terrible service. Ordered greek salad with chicken and got hot salad… not very yummy. Manager stands around and does nothing. Hummus had no flavor. Would not recommend. l

Would HIGHLY not recommend this restaurant if you are looking to have a pleasant experience and authentic Greek food. The server seemed to be more focused on consuming her burger on the kitchen high top at the same time when she was apparently on shift and responsible for our table. The food was not authentic. The seafood platter literally only had 2 shrimps in it. The taziki had an odd taste to it. Say the least, we will never eat here ever again. Only rating 1 star because 0 is not an option.

So yummy for a low price! This place is perfect for a group«date night». We had 6 people and shared a ton of plates. The bill ended up at $ 20 per person and we were all stuffed! True to my visits to Greece, almost everything has some kind of cheese in it, so not the place for someone on a strict diet. You can always judge a Greek spot by their Mousakka, and this one was pretty darn good. It’s also BYOB, which is always the best value. To be fair, Our enjoyment might have also come from the fact that we BYOGG’D instead(bring your own bottle of Grey Goose), but they dealt we ll with our sillyness and it was the start of a great casual night out. This would be a good spit for a family night too.

Boring! No flavor tasteless! From the pita to the salad to the Lavraki… They need To-revamp! I have never had a horitaki salad with lettuce! Will not return !! Go to Syros in englewood the best Greek in Bergen County!

This place was great. We went with another couple last week and really enjoyed the food. Excellent service, nice atmosphere and fantastic food. Best part is that it’s BYOB so it makes it really affordable. Hands down best part of the meal was the cheesecake baclava dessert. We shared two pieces between four of us, and each couple took another piece home. Parking is a bit tight if you go before the shops close but a quick circle around and we found a spot. Nice thing — manager seemed very hands on. He checked on us and seemed genuinely interested in making sure that we enjoyed ourselves. Will definitely be back.

I was hoping to get a better experience at this place… We were seated and had our orders placed promptly. We got our food every quickly too. The place has nice seating and décor. It wasn’t loud so it’s a good place to eat while catching up with some friends. The gyro platter was alright. However, we also got the saganaki, which I didn’t enjoy. It was too fried that the corners were burnt to black. I ate the other parts of the saganaki but it still wasn’t good. I wanted to try their other dishes and some dessert, but considering how much we already had to pay for the gyro platter and the sad saganaki, that wasn’t going to happen. I wanted to try the moussaka after, but $ 17.50? You can order that for two dollars cheaper or more somewhere else. The price we paid for the food just wasn’t worth it. Oh well.

Stopped here for lunch one day while in the area and enjoyed a salmon platter that was served with rice and salad. I was looking for a healthy alternative and this fit the bill. The fish was well prepared and the rice was tastier than average. The salad was also good. Service was prompt and the price was reasonable for what I ordered. While I don’t know that I would go out of my way to come to this restaurant, I would certainly consider it when I am in the area.

I came here a few times when I was living In New Jersey! I love the outdoor seating! I had a bottle of wine one time and was able to enjoy the breathtaking view of Edgewater. For starters the pita bread that they bring out is soooo good! I have tried many things on the menu but I personally love the seabass! It was perfect! I would Recommend ordering the sides! They are all delicious. The portions are large and the service is fast! This is a must try authentic Greek place in the West NewYork-Edgewater area.

This place makes some legit Greek food. The service is awesome and friendly. They make some great seafood dishes. I especially liked their oysters and the cheese stuffed calamari was something I have never had before, and its was delicious. It is a BYOB joint, and thus, my friend and I enjoyed our wine with some legit Greek food!

Getting better but not as good as it used to be. USED to love this place. Six years ago(2008) this place was amazing — the owners cared and it showed. Good was exquisitely authentic, fresh and the whole place felt clean. Service was friendly. Owners brought in all the stones on the walls in their suitcases directly from Greece. I was here in warm weather months at least once a week for the great food, service and views. Four years later(2012) it was gross. Dirty, excruciatingly slow service, food even tasty dirty like it had not been washed. Also the menu was the same but it all tasted funky. I asked the manager(owner’s brother in law) why it was so bad. He could not care less. We returned recently to reminisce about its former glory and thankfully it’s improved. Still doesn’t feel as clean as it used to(sticky tabletops and weird smelling bathroom). Waiters are apathetic. But the food at least tastes ok. Not great but ok. They cut back and it shows: Gemisto squid filled until plump with creamy Greek cheese now has a mere slather of cheese, cheese on the salads is skimpy and a cheap imitation of the creamy feta that used to be on top, taramasalata was gross and obviously canned, salad still tasted gritty from lack of washing. I miss them all. Also pita bread basket was burnt and/or stale. Still good: moussaka, eggplant dip, grilled platter and orange scented sausage. Welcome new addition to the menu: baklava cheesecake was fantastic. Gives me hope that they will get better. Hopefully they continue with the progress and rebuilding their quality.

The place is in a good location. There is a view of the water is you sit outside and nice little shops all around. The appetizers were great. I really like the grilled calamari. The beet salad was good. It came with garlic potatoes that tasted good but I would have preferred them to be warm instead of cold. My boyfriend ordered the lamb chops for a main course and liked them a lot. I ordered the gyro mix and found it to be a bit plain. There was a yogurt sauce that came with it that I didn’t like and without it the meat was plain. Things we liked: plain calamari appetizer and lamb chops. Things that weren’t great: beet salad and gyro platter. Service: service was good. The staff is friendly and mature for the most part. The place is a bit pricey for what it is and for the area but the food is good.
