Too bad they dont have less stars for the review. Very rude person at the desk yelling to costumers because they overbooked the place. Never coming back, unless you have a reservation for a big party dont even try

Went here with my family and was excited to finally try it out. OK I will start with the positive being the friendly staff and fast seating. OK now for that bad the food here is horrible I think they were out of salt everything was bland with no taste except there orange chicken which was the only decant dish. For the $ 12 they charge there selection was minimal. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Really didn’t enjoy my time here, loud, overcooked soggy veggies and undercooked squishy fries, and deserts. My soda has a weird film on the top of it from the glass I was using. Never going back

this place is just average. i go to this buffet often and it’s definitely okay however it could be better, many times i come here, bathroom always smells like a freshly prepped crap, I literally have a hard time using the bathroom here because sometimes the smell would be bit too much for me. Food is just okay to say the least, it’s just a really basic food, like mac and cheese, rice and chicken noodle soup. something i do like about this place is their grilled chicken legs and soup, and also the price is reasonable

I’ve been to plenty of Buffets, this one… has a lot of room for improvement. I went there as part of a field trip with my school. They did a good job of handling our rather large group. The staff was hot or cold. The hostess was very friendly and so was one of the waitresses that commutes from Sea Isle! Some of the staff that was refilling food and/or carving items not so cheerful. Food was of a fairly good temperature. I liked the wide array of items but you really had to pick and choose what you got because some food looked and tasted homemade but a large portion of the food seemed like it was out of a can or precooked and just heated through. The desserts were a highlight of the meal. They seemed fresher and made with more care compared to most of the other things. Some dude was walking around making balloon animals and doing some magic tricks. Not sure if this is a normal thing or just something they do on Thursdays or if they know a large group in coming in. If they get some of the quality in check I can definitely see us returning. I will say most of the students(with less refined pallets) seemed to enjoy all the food. However a few students asked with a pleading look on their face if we are going to stop there again on our next trip to NYC.

This place isn’t what it use to be. Maybe they changed management but I’ve been coming here since I was a little girl. I loved Old Country Buffet better but they closed it down so we come here. Basically the same thing but it’s not what it use to be. Getting more expensive every time we come here. They barely have any food out and you have to wait a while to get it. They don’t have ANYWHITEMEAT when you want fried chicken. It’s all dark and I hate dark meat. The Mac and cheese is pretty good. The fries are stale. The roast beef is dry. It’s just not what it use to be for the price they want us to pay. Not worth it.

There is a lack of breakfast buffets in this area. Sometimes when I REALLY want a copious amount of eggs and coffee I’ll go to HomeTown. I have experience in food service and dining hall style food settings so obviously this makes my review better… ha! What this place really needs is to be closed and renovated. The food is pretty good. I’ve had both dinner and breakfast here a few times. You can tell the manager really wants the place the to be up to par, but there just isn’t the right staff that cares. Would you care for minimum wage? Probably not. This reflects in the cleanliness and speed of new food being brought out. The coffee mugs are old, clean, but old. The same can be said with the drinking glasses. Old, some cracked etc. I’m not sure if this is a chain or independent franchise that’s struggling, but if some money was put into the place I think they’d make some decent cash. Finally… the bugs. A lot of people say they have seen bugs which to me is the BIGGEST appetite destroyer EVER. I have no doubt that many food establishments have bugs, but I do tend to stay away from ones where there are«sightings». My reasoning is silly, yes, I know. I have NEVER seen a bug of any sorts at Home Town so that’s a check mark. If I’m really broke I’d go to HomeTown again, but if I’ve got some cash I’d probably just hit a local diner.

I friends and I decided to stop by here to grab a quick bite to eat. I’ve never been here before and would I probably back be in the near future? Eh, I’ll take my chances. Upon walking into the establishment, we were greeted by a courteous cashier who expressed a great attitude toward his customers. The service was great but the food was ok. But I guess it’s «what you pay for is what you get». An AYCE buffet and drinks for about $ 10 and change isn’t bad price-wise. The food resembled what they would serve you at college campuses. Chicken, rice, soup, soft-served ice cream and whatnot. There was even a slurpee station. The establishment however reeked with a smell of beer for some odd reason. But that’s none of my business. The cleanliness of the establishment is questionable. We were seated by the entrance to the kitchen so we had a little glimpse of what the kitchen was like every time the door opened. What I saw was a big puddle of standing water on the floor and garbage bin after garbage bin filled with trash piled against one another. The soft-served ice cream station was apps infrequently cleaned as there was ice cream piled up at the bottom where the drain was.

Yeeeeeears ago this place used to be a great place to grab good food with some southern flavor. However, over the past couple of years, this place has seriously taken a turn for the worse. I recently went there on 6÷20÷15 and decided to inquire about why the change in food, particularly the taste with one of the workers, and was advised that the place was under new ownership. Maybe this is the reason why the macaroni and cheese was tasteless and seemed like it was made out of the box with cheap off brand chess melted on top; or why the chicken tasted dry, or better yet why the lettuce was stale and the ice cream machine was broken. This place is NOT worth $ 11.00. You can tell by the lack of business that many others have seen the change as well. Hopefully the ownership will realize this and make some changes, however I will not one of those around the experience any future plans.

I hadn’t been here in a while and stopped in for lunch yesterday. Was very pleasantly surprised by quite a few changes. Their recipes seemed to have changed on quite a few items… all for the better.(Most notably the mac & cheese !) The BBQ chicken and ribs were surprisingly good. The desserts have gotten much better as well. The restaurant was clean, the folks were nice. A great value and a fast place to dine when time is a factor.

Been coming here for years, and it’s always been a favorite for me and my dad. Unfortunately, now we’ve been going to Golden Corral, but this place is worth mentioning because it’s a good location(right off Rt. 1 South), and has a decent variety. It can get crowded, the bathrooms are ehh with bright lights and looks a bit dirty. Salad bar is fairly decent: pasta and macaroni salad, cesar salad, spring mix, romaine, ice berg lettuce options. Several types of salad dressings. Raw veggies(mushrooms, broccoli, shredded carrots, onions, tomatoes), bacon, eggs, croutons, nuts, beans I like their steak wedge fries(if they still have them), fried chicken, mashed potatoes, mac’n cheese –can’t go wrong with these staples. Great taco/chili meat, always been my favorite to eat there. I like it here than any other buffet place. Anything else can be hit or miss, but that’s just a personal preference. Desserts: Severely lacking in any kind of substance or flavor. I have always been disappointed with it, but it never matters because I eat so much food that I don’t really want dessert LOL. Cookies are OK, can’t really mess that up. But cakes are bland and dry(seems to be a standard at buffet places), cheesecakes have no creamy texture(seems soft and mushy, like tofu), and the only thing I eat off that is the graham crust. Ice creams are OK, not runny and they don’t melt ASAP, so there’s some consistency. Weekend breakfasts: LOVEIT. Sausages, pancakes, bacon, thick hearty hash brown triangle patties, YUM! All in all, a quick fast place to fill your belly. Not too bad at all.

Thought I’d give this place a try after getting some coupons in the mail but ugh, talk about some nast… The food was disgusting. It wasn’t even buffet quality, it was just legit bad food. Everything had the same plastic-like taste. The only thing I can say was good was the dessert, and I would never want to pay that much for cheap dessert. There are far better restaurants and buffets in this area that I’d recommend over this place. You will end up paying the same and will be so much happier in the long run. You’ll also thank me later.

My favorite buffet in all of NJ! I have been coming to this Hometown Buffet since I was a little girl, so I consider this buffet a part of my childhood memories coming with my family and waiting on the line to get in and devour some delicious food. Over the years some of the recipes have changed and you can taste it, but they have still remained true and kept their dishes pretty much the same. I love the coupons that they offer via email and text now and the fact that when you get to the register to pay, they don’t even check the text or email print-out, they pretty much just ask if you have the coupon and apply the discount to your bill. What I don’t like is the charge for the drinks — but hey — not a deal breaker for me. The food is delicious and savory, the employees are kind, and the atmosphere is open and cozy. I can’t imagine not coming here, so I do truly hope they remain in business for many years to come! My favorite foods at Hometown: — Fried chicken — Mashed potatoes — Carved roast beef — The brown gravy, the brown gravy, and did I mention. The brown gravy?!

I love it here ! It’s only $ 9.08 which includes tax for lunch. The food is good enough and the choices are more than enough. The space is big so nobody would bother you while you are eating. Every Thursday from 5 to 8 pm is family day. Kids eat for just $ 1.99.

The last time that we went there we were enticed by a coupon. We hadn’t been there for a long time before that. Nothing much had changed. The food wasn’t that spectacular, the employees weren’t that friendly, and the customers weren’t that savory. A roach crawled across my son. Hhe freaked out. It crawled under the table. I looked under the table with a light, and there it was, antennas waving back and forth slowly. We got up and left. I think that this will be the last time that we will ever go to the Home Town Buffet.

I really have to say this location is on its way down. The quality of food is good but there is always empty stations. The attitude of the serving staff leaves a lot to be desired. There was a girl working desserts last time we were there who wore a baseball cap down over her eyes and huffed and puffed so much when speaking that I thought she sprung a leak. It’s a shame to see this place going like it is because it just leads to closing this location.

I remember coming here as a child almost every weekend for breakfast, but since then the place has been on the decline. It has not hit rock bottom and I do not think that it will, but it could certainly be better. Most importantly, the food. Most of the food is what you would expect at an average buffet. The food is on the bland side and it has a ton of salt in it that will make you keep going back to the drink station which you have to pay for might I add. They have three stations of various dinner items and two stations for fruit and salad with one station for desert. The overall atmosphere including the personnel on hand is friendly with everyone smiling and being polite. As this is a budget buffet there are a lot of children, so plan accordingly. Bottom line: if you want an average buffet, this isn’t a bad option, but in my honest opinion you could do a lot better if you want.
