The beef noodle soup was way too salty. The stewed beef and tendon was actually good. Noodle was ok. The soup base was so salty that we couldn’t really drink the soup. It tastes like salty soy sauce soup. We also tried the pork belly rice, and the pork belly was way too sweet. Even the tomato egg side dish in the rice dish was too sweet. We were quite disappointed with our meal here.

After hearing my coworkers rave for weeks about how good and authentic the beef noodle soup, I finally came to try it for myself. It was good. The broth was thick and flavorful. The noodle was Q. The tendon and meat retained a lot of flavor as well. Also ordered the pork chop rice, which was also really good. The coating wasn’t too thick and it was crunch. The meat was juicy. Definitely kept the Taiwanese flavor. Free drink with Unilocal check-in. The winter melon tea was super watered down but I actually like it that way when it’s not too sweet.

Great service! Waiter is very punctual and helpful so far. The moment we walked in we were greeted with an amazing aroma and a smile given by the lady at the front counter. The wait for the food was literally 5 minutes and it’s so yummy!

i ordered half beef and half tendon and when the bowl of noodles came out it was big! i was delighted to see the portion, until i actually started eating. While there were a lot of noodles, there were very little beef and tendon. I only had TWO slices of beef and TWO tendons which i thought was a total rip off for $ 9. At a different restaurant, i can pay less and get more beef and tendons! The soup base was very rich and flavorful. It had tons of flavor of the different spices, that earthy /deep beef broth that the noodles are being soaked up with — it was a very enjoyable bowl of noodles for a cold rainy day. They need to lower the price or at give more beef and tendons for the amount they are charging. $ 9 was just not worth it for that bowl. We also ordered a small appetizer of taiwanese sausages which i didn’t think was that great. Sinbala tastes better for sure. Would i come back? possibly because i really like that broth, but the fact that it costs $ 9 for it, i may just go somewhere else instead. Due to the price vs meat ratio, i would have to given one less star. however, it really deserves 4 stars for flavor, cleanliness and friendly service.

Came here on a rainy day for a to-go order. They did not pick up their phone when I called, so this can be a opportunity area for them. The order process is easy, since their menu is only limited to a few specialty items. I picked my orders at the counter and the lady helped me ring it up on the spot, and told me it would take about 10 minutes for my order to complete. I timed it, and it was less than what I was told even though their dining room was filled with about 9 – 11 tables during lunch hour. I was impressed with their speed of service so the phone issue was forgotten. Afterwards, I returned to the office and began unpacking the lunch from the double bagging(which i appreciate, since I am always afraid of spills in the car). Items ordered were: — Beef Noodle Soup: 5STARS — Minced Pork Dry Noodle: 5STARS — Beef Tendon Noodle Soup: 5STARS NOODLES: The noodle quality here is amazing. It is very chewy, yet cooked all the way through. My boss was super happy also, and gave this place a thumbs up. SOUP: Their soup is very flavor rich. A must try in this cold rainy weather! OVERALL: I give this place a complete 5 star review! And would definitely recommend to my friends and family to come.

There’s always that one missing element that prevents its food from receiving a perfect A+ grade, but the overall food quality and authenticity definitely make this my second favorite Taiwanese restaurant in SoCal … just right after SinBala. One day I saw someone post pictures of beef noodle soup and its Facebook page also looked very promising, so I decided to give this new restaurant(opened in Sept 2015) a try and came here for the Christmas dinner. I am not Jewish, but I guess eating«Chinese»(technically Taiwanese) food becomes a part of my Christmas traditions. Their menu is fairly simple — noodles(one soup-base noodle — its signature beef stew noodle [aka beef noodle soup] and two other dry noodles [minced pork-soy paste noodle and XO sauce noodle]), rice dishes [Taiwanese braised pork belly, Taiwanese sausage, Taiwanese style chicken roll, popcorn chicken, and fried pork chop), cold dishes(seaweed, bean curd, salted pig skin, marinated squid, etc), snacks(basically selection from rice dishes, but without rice and no braised pork belly), drinks(Taiwanese apple soda [Apple Sidra], Taiwanese root beer [Hey Song Sarsaparilla], wintermelon tea, etc.), and other goods(sweet peanut soup, 1 lb frozen Taiwanese sausage, etc). *** S1 Taiwanese Sausage(came with slices of garlic, $ 4.50): Tasted just as good as SinBala’s Taiwanese sausage, but slightly fattier — and I like fatty sausage.(4.75÷5) S2 Popcorn Chicken($ 4.95): Tasted very similar to Why Thirsty’s popcorn chicken — crunchy and chewy chicken, but Corner Beef Noodle House’s version was slightly bland and not as spicy as I thought.(4.5÷5) C7 Honeycomb Tripe($ 6.50): Tasted slightly lukewarm and it was one of the best Taiwanese cold dishes I’ve had in SoCal.(4.5÷5) #3 Half Meat/Half Tendon Beef Stew($ 9.25): It was very similar to SinBala’s beef noodle soup(similar chewy noodle and broth flavors), but Corner Beef Noodle House’s broth tasted a bit heavier(in another word — slightly more salty); however, spiciness level was just right and beef & tendon were great.(4.5÷5) *** With few improvements on its flavors, Corner Beef Noodle House has the potential to be the best Taiwanese restaurant in SoCal. I was pretty impressed with its Taiwanese food and most likely I will be back again to try other items listed on the menu. *** REVISIT *** P. S. — I came back here again two weeks later and I want to add few more comments: SinBala has slightly better Taiwanese sausage, Corner Beef Noodle House has slightly better beef noodle soup(again heavy broth, but still the best value), pretty good fried pork chop, and I would get snacks over rice dishes(you are essentially paying $ 2.50 ~ $ 3 more for rice and couple veggies).

I came in after picking up my SUV which I had a total brake and rotor job done locally in S. El Monte. It was a cold evening so a bowl of beef noodle soup sounded appetizing. I went with the regular beef noodle soup and started off with the cold tofu from the self service frig. The beef noodle soup broth was delish — rich in flavor and the beef chunks were lean and tender. Cash only here but I was a totally happy camper after finishing off my meal here. Service from both of the young waiters were friendly and service dog accepting for my pug Iz! I’ll certainly will be returning!

I got their half meat half tendon beef noodle soup, for 10bucks it is amazing. Flavorful, spicy, big chunks of beef and tendon, bok choy, thick and chewy noodles, omg This is now my new fav beef noodle place… and their service is amazing, they give you pickled vegetables as soon as they see you finish yours. FREEREFILLPLZ also, tripe and popcorn chicken was amazing, taiwanese sausage was garlic’d up the ass… if you’re into that

One of the things I miss most about SGV is having really good beef noodle soup. When my dad told me there was a new one that opened up, I figured it wouldn’t be anything too special, especially when I can just head on over to my go-to place, 101 Noodle Express. That was until he said it was better than 101 Noodle Express. That’s a bold statement that shouldn’t be taken lightly. I thought it was a joke, really. But then again, my dad knows I don’t joke when it comes to food. I immediately made plans to try it while I was here for the holidays. They happened to be opened for lunch today(Christmas Eve) so I booked it over there with a friend and made it in time before they closed at 3PM. He ordered the beef noodle soup and I ordered the beef & tendon noodle soup plus a wintermelon tea(sweet but refreshing). Don’t forget it’s cash only like we did. Luckily there was a bank nearby that I quickly rushed too after we ordered. When I came back it had arrived in all its glory. I was skeptical initially, but I was slowly won over with the tasting of every part of the meal. I tried the soup. It was hearty, flavorful, beefy with a nice kick. I then tried the noodles. They were thick and had a perfect al dente consistency. Finally I tried the beef and tendon. The beef stew pieces were so tender it melted in my mouth. The tendon was soft, chewy and just as flavorful as the meat. There was literally nothing I could find wrong with their beef noodle soup. It is the best beef noodle soup I’ve had in recent memory, if not ever. All this in a hole-in-the-wall noodle shop in a non-descript strip mall in El Monte(that also has a nice Malaysian restaurant but I digress…). Move over 101. There’s a new beef noodle soup king in town.

Came in on the other day for Traditional Taiwanese Beef noodle soup. Wow, this place blew me away, thick chunks of beef, flavorful soup, hand kneed noodle, reminds me of the time I traveled to Taiwan. I even brought in 2 of my best friends to try out their noodle, they loved it !!! Beats a lot of other competitor beef noodle place. Thank you for the delicious food !!!

I’m pretty happy that a beef noodle pace has finally opened so close to me! In addition to this location being ideal, the food is simply delicious. Of course I had to try the beef noodle soup, and let me tell you, that broth is bomb dot com. So flavorful without being too salty. And those noodles are perfection! The chewy texture is just right. The vegetables compliment the whole thing quite nicely. The restaurant itself is very well lit and clean. There’s plenty of seating and you have the choice between booth and regular tables. The staff was very attentive and accommodating. Overall I had a pleasant experience and will be back.

Excited to see a Taiwanese style beef noodle house in El Monte! Food: Beef Noodle soup was decent. Not mind blowing but hey… I didn’t expect the best in this run down plaza. Service: English speaking staff. Very attentive. Environment: Watch out for them fat pot holes in the parking lot. Price: About $ 12 a bowl which is pricey for the area and type of food, but I didn’t find the price ridiculous. Food: 4 Service: 4 Environment: 3 Price: 3

Saw a review just recently from Cindy D., so I decided to try this place on my own. This restaurant is still in their soft opening phase. Menu: There is only 10 food items to choose from. Location/Parking: Located in the same plaza as Mana Tea House and Ocean Bo. Parking might be hard to find especially on the weekends, but there are plenty of parking on the street also. Entrance door: Make sure you pull instead of pushing to get inside. When you leave the place, pull the door to go out. Happened to me twice where I was having a hard time entering and exiting this place. There are signs on the doors that says so… but who follows instructions nowadays? Service: Staffers were very friendly and attentive. I came in close to closing and it was nice that they didn’t turn me away. Food came out exceptionally fast(5 minutes). Food: From the reviews that I’ve read, the Niu Rou Mien(beef noodle soup) seemed like the popular choice among Unilocalers. As for me, I decided to go with the pork belly rice which came with a small helping of veggies and a layer of minced beef on top of the rice. The pork belly(three big pieces) was so good, a lot of flavor, and was very tender. I ate the meat first and saved the fatty skin for last. Would gladly come back to try out their Niu Rou Mien.

Came here based off previous reviews and also, because I had a serious case of hangover-itis… Now, to start off I’ve definitely had my fair share of niu rou mien but this place is definitely in my top 3! Dai Ho and Din Tai Fung are still in my heart but I have room to love all 3. The soup is perfectly spiced and has a nice, deep flavor to it. My pet peeve is when restaurants over compensate for their lack of soup depth with more salt and they definitely don’t do that here! Noodles are perfectly cooked — soft yet still maintaining that chewy texture we all seek in a bowl of noodle soup. As for the meat, I got the half tendon and half beef and there was definitely more than enough! I couldn’t even finish it and ended up taking it home lol. Tendon is soft and buttery and the beef was tender. It was a little chewy but I personally appreciate that and find nothing wrong with it. Service was great and attentive! Also I got a hook up on my tea as a first time customer so I definitely LOVED that. I’ll be coming back here on a weekly basis now that I found a yummy taiwanese spot down the street from my house.

THEWAYOFTHENIUROUMIAN Monsieur Know-It-All has noticed that many individuals who trash this restaurant act like noodle-professors but — by the mere act of trashing this restaurant — are in fact idiots. Monsieur has therefore written a FAQ to help noodle-idiots everywhere learn the way of the«Niu Rou Mian», an iconic beef noodle dish that’s dear to the hearts of many Taiwanese. Q: ISMONSIEURAN «EXPERT» INNRM? A: NO… just about every Taiwanese person plus a few Silver-Lakers who’ve eaten at Pine & Crane will tell you they’re a NRM expert. Too many experts. Monsieur is what’s known as a «MASTER expert», or master-pert. Although Monsieur is equally adept at debating any foodie into tapping out, don’t confuse«expert» with«debater». Q: HOWDOESONEBECOMEDESIGNATEDAS A NRM«MASTER-PERT»? A: Honesty, there really isn’t anyone else out there who’s adequately qualified to decide that, so Monsieur had to appoint himself. Q: HOWWASTHEBROTHATCORNERNOODLEHOUSE? A: When it comes to NRM broth, there are 2 mistakes that restaurants make: too salty(Ding Tai Fung), or too oily(Bull Demon Café). Sadly, Monsieur discovered a 3rd abomination on a recent visit to the sophomoric 101 Noodle Express: too watered down. Here at Corner Noodle, the broth was perfectly balanced. Rich, deep, refined… totally drinkable. Q: HOWWERETHETOPPINGSATCORNERNOODLE? A: Very basic: a few slices of beef and Chinese greens. Some of the beef was a bit tough and left an annoying piece stuck between the back molars that resulted in a tongue-cramp from trying to extricate it for the rest of the day. Q: HOWWASTHETEXTUREOFTHENOODLES? A: Thick with a terrific chew. Monsieur asked the server if their noodles were hand made. The server said«yes», followed by «we get it from a nearby factory». Monsieur suspects that either the server was talking shit, or there exists a deplorable factory in El Monte where laborers are forced to hand-knead noodle dough. Ultimately, if Monsieur can’t tell if it’s handmade, then neither can you so just sit the F down and slurp. Q: OVERALL, HOWDOES«MASTER-PERT» RATETHENRMATCORNERNOODLE? A: This is a small family noodle shop that prides itself in NRM, so you can bet the quality will be consistent… unlike the 101 Noodle Express chain which has a Taco Bell mentality when making NRM. Yes, Monsieur was traumatized and still bitter. VERDICT: utilizing his proprietary scoring method created for noodle-idiots, Monsieur gives the NRM at Corner Noodle a coveted«D» rating(«D» = dope, «ND» = not dope).

Prices are cheap, generous portions and the restuarant itself is pretty clean. Service is quick as well. I ordered the beef stew noodle soup. The bowl was definitely bigger than I thought and they don’t cheap out on the meat quantity either. Comes with a side of pickled veggies which went well with the broth. Stew tasted great and not spicy despite it’s appearance. Only downside is cash only and expect a little wait if you go during rush hours as it gets pretty packed. Great A/C.

Decided to try this place out since its new. They’ve been open for about 2 weeks now and they’re literally outside my house, so why not. There’s plenty of seating options — tables and chairs or booths. There are only a handful of items on the menu and drinks are limited. I ordered the beef stew, which I think is a little overpriced, if you ask me. I liked the noodles, very chewy and bouncy. The soup was fragrant, but near the end of the bowl, it was a tad bit salty. The beef were cut into huge chunks. It wasn’t the softest, nor was it tough. It’s just average. Drinks are priced fairly — $ 2.50 for winter melon tea. They don’t have regular brewed tea served over ice, so don’t bother asking. Service was good, the waitress asked us if our drinks were okay. I mentioned that it was a tad bit sweet and she diluted it for me. Awesome!

Yay for Taiwanese food! Support local businesses! This restaurant just recently opened for about two weeks now. It’s still their soft opening so they only have 5 items on their menu and also serve passionfruit tea, soda and water. Setting: It is located in a plaza right next to a nail salon and pharmacy. It is right across from Ocean Bo, a dim sum restaurant. The restaurant was a lot bigger than I thought it would be with multiple tables and booths and slightly AC’d. While I was sitting at a table waiting for a few friends, I realized a lot of people had trouble with the door or they just couldn’t read haha. When you enter the restaurant, push the door in and when you leave, pull the door. I guess normally it’s the other way around but this door is different. I saw many people fail, thankfully I read the sign before I did anything or I’m sure I would’ve made the same mistake. Right when you walk in, you get greeted by a staff and they ask how many people is in your party. They bring the menus, the utensils and whatever drink you want after. Didn’t have a problem with the staff, everything went smoothly. It wasn’t super packed when my friends and I went around lunchtime. Food: I decide the get their half meat and half tendon beef stew noodle(#2 on the menu). It’s exactly what the name is. The food came out quite fast and it comes with a side of pickles. It was pretty good and big! The stew was not too salty and the noodles were chewy and had a good texture to it. I really liked the noodles. It came with a good amount of beef and tendon. Overall, I liked the dish. Tasted like I was in Taiwan again. The passionfruit tea was alright. Nothing too special about that, but it did taste refreshing especially since I got a noodle soup dish and it was like 95 degrees outside :) I’m sure it was just passionfruit syrup lol Their to-go containers were very durable and can definitely be reused. I found it funny that their plastic bags said Thai BBQ. Hopefully they changed that soon to their restaurant name or just a normal«thank you» plastic bag. If I want Taiwanese noodle soup and dish in general, I would come back to this place. I wonder what other dishes they are going to add to the menu once they have their grand opening. Price: The half meat and half tendon beef stew noodle cost $ 9.25. The prices ranged from $ 6.50-$ 9.25. Pretty decent prices, not super cheap but also not expensive. CASHONLY —- Came here for the second time for lunch on Christmas. I got the Taiwanese Braised pork belly with rice which was delicious! The pieces are huge and they give about 4 pork belly pieces. The dish also came with veges, beans and sweet relish. Very flavorful and fulling! The dish cost $ 7.50 which is great for the amount of food you get. We also got the chicken roll which was so delicious and chewy with a perfect crispy«crust» on the outside. It also comes with their own homemade sauce. It cost $ 6.50, which I think is pricey for this«snack». Again, great service and great food. Will be coming back again and again :)
