They do not have Eggs Benedict, and that made me so depressed. Maybe not depressed, but upset at least. I was mainly upset because they had Bennie’s on their menu online, and that was a big reason why The Coffee Mug was even on my list for a road trip. Even without them, the place was pretty OK. The hostess who sat my friend and I had the personality of… nothing. If you could be monotone without even speaking, that is what she was. However, what the hostess lacked in personality our waitress definitely made up for. She was lively and fun, and she was like that with everyone. So since I was cheated out of my Eggs Benedict I decided to go with the Popeye omelet: Lots and lots of cheese, lots and lots of spinach, plus tomatoes, avocado, and mushrooms. The omelet was huge, which is good. The spinach was a little tough to cut through, but the omelet as a whole was delicious. My omelet came with a side of wheat toast, already buttered, and red potatoes. I’m not a huge fan of adding salt to food, but sadly these potatoes needed the added sodium. They were also unevenly cooked; some of them were under-cooked, and others were overcooked. . Overall I would call the experience interesting. There were both good and bad elements to the meal, but in the end I think I’ll check out another place before giving this one another shot.

Went on a recent road trip and was hungry by the time we got to Elko. The Coffee Mug looked bustling for lunch, so we figured it must be a good place. We were not disappointed. good food, friendly waitresses & hefty portions.

We arrived at the Coffee Mug at about 7:45 a.m. on a Saturday morning, having just exited I-80 on our westbound trip to Lake Tahoe and the place was already active. When we left, just 25 minutes later it was packed! This cute little family diner is friendly, tasty, and fast! Our breakfast of eggs, hash browns, sausage, and pancakes was to our table less than five minutes after we ordered! The food was good quality. Try this spot for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

A very good Reuben sandwich, fresh and hot french fries, plenty of refills on the Diet Coke, and friendly service. The dining room is no frills, but has kept the tin ceiling and basic décor of the historic building. I’ll be back in on my next trip through Elko.

This is a charming café where a hearty breakfast can be enjoyed. Staff was super friendly. An extensive menu makes it difficult to make a selection. Food was good, not exceptional – more like Grandma’s comfort food. Had chicken fried steak, but there was little/no coating. Would definitely return if ever in the area.

WOW! We just had the most amazing meal! We each got an omelet and neither could finish all the food. Everything coming out of the kitchen looks delicious. We will stop again! Good home cooking at its finest, with a western décor.

By far an AMAZING breakfast! Great customer service. So good was impressed. Was going to McAdoos when we saw this by chance. We liked the homey menu better. We were happy with our choice. I had the breakfast burrito with chicken and home style potatoes. Loved everybit!

I love the coffee mug From the small town vibe to the crisp and fluffy hot cakes, this restaurant is my favorite breakfast place in Elko. I want to make something clear, I am not giving this establishment 4 stars based on the lack of choices in the area. The coffee mug has earned these 4 stars. We visited the coffee mug early on a Saturday morning. We were greeted by a friendly waitress, whom immediately sat us in a clean booth and retrieved our drinks. I love the small town vibe of the coffee mug. Everyone is friendly and welcoming! Now for the best part: The Food! If you love hot, fresh and home cooked food: This is the place for you! Short stack of hot cakes: My hot cakes were fluffy, crisp and slathered in butter. I asked for another syrup option(I’m not a fan of maple). The waitress brought out some homemade strawberry syrup that made my taste buds jump with joy! Biscuits and gravy: The gravy was made from scratch with some sort of sausage in it. The biscuits were hot, fresh and slathered in gravy. Yum. I will definitely be back. The price point is fair(not overly cheap or expensive). I am very impressed with the high quality of food and emphasis on good customer service. If you are passing through elko, the coffee mug is worth the stop. Fin’

This was a great place to come for breakfast in Elko. The service was fantastic, the atmosphere was authentic, and the food was good. I read a comparison of this restaurant to a Denny’s, but this restaurant is much better. Denny’s tries to emulate restaurants like this one. Our waitress was perfect. We had coffee and waters within moments of sitting. The food came out very fast. And on top of the service our waitress placed the order for my daughters side dishes as a breakfast order to save us money. The food was very good. The eggs were cooked cooked perfectly and the toast was surprisingly good. My son commented that the milk was particularly tasty as well. Overall I would highly recommend this breakfast if you’ve ever had a dad take you to breakfast joints when you were a kid. This restaurant is reminiscent of the old days.

We stopped in Elko on our way to Park city from San Jose. A friend that lives here had suggested the coffee mug for breakfast. We decided to check it out instead of the breakfast at the Hilton where we were staying. It’s the kind of breakfast place you covet. Warm and cozy inside with lots of Hearty options. The kind of place that serves biscuits and even has one of those retro dessert cases. The service was amazing we were taken care of right away and brought hot coffee and hot chocolate — desperately needed on a –3° day. Unfortunately, the food didn’t quite live up. My daughter’s pancakes for overcooked. Also, my husband’s bacon was way overcooked. He did not ask for it crunchy. So, I have to take away a star for the food but I would still suggest checking the place out for the atmosphere and great service. Plus, in a small-ish town like Elko, I’m guessing this is the place to be for breakfast!

The service was fast and friendly. Husband’s pastrami sandwich was tasty, but the fries were just ok. Prime rib dinner was huge, but lacked flavor. The au jus was not very flavorful. The roll was delicious– very light and fluffy. The cheddar broccoli soup was ok. We have had better luck with breakfasts there as far as food quality. Not bad, though. And the friendly service will be what brings us back. The relocation and remodel really makes it look amazing. It was very clean in the dining area.

Good food, good prices, the only thing is they wouldn’t let my dad bring in his medical assist dog. He explained the law and she was nice enough about it, but still just and FYI if anyone out there has a dog with them.

I think this place has the best service in Elko. The waiters and waitresses take very good care of their customers here. We came here for breakfast. I had the minced chorizo scramble with country potatoes and biscuits. The scramble was good but I didn’t really like the potatoes or biscuits. The potatoes didn’t have much flavor and the biscuits reminded me of those you get at most gas stations. Other items I sampled were very good! I liked the samples of french toast my wife ordered and the remaking in parts of a cinnamon roll my little sister didn’t finish. This place is very neat and clean. There is more seating in here than it appears from the curb. I’d say that this would be a good spot for curing a hangover.

I swear I started a review last night for this place… Oh well. Let’s find a new opening. Denny’s, but local, but better. I’ve ordered breakfast to go at least a half a dozen times. It’s always been good sturdy and quality breakfast. Nothing to oooooh and aaaaaah over, but rib sticking food. One time I showed a little early for my order and I noticed that the gal took the time to check and make sure my order was right. Great service! For dinner I have only had one thing. The really affordable Prime Rib. It’s good and the price is right. If you are looking for atmosphere… look no further… the ceiling alone makes it worth staying for a spell and eating your meal here. Check out my pic if you don’t believe me. Anyway…if you are in town and need a good sturdy breakfast or any other meal for that matter… I am pretty sure you will do just fine. Just don’t ask about the Chicken. My waitress said no with her face AND with he

Found this restaurant on Unilocal as we were passing through town on a Sunday. It was an excellent choice for breakfast! Ample parking, even for our RV. Had the breakfast burrito, it was quite tasty and very large! Hubby had the omelette and pancakes, he was impressed. The place is very clean and quaint. Service was good! It appeared to be a place the locals frequent. My only negative would be a lack of salt on the food, but that’s probably a good thing. It’s easy to add but impossible to remove for those low sodium lovers! Would definitely eat here again!

Quick and pleasant service, decent decaf coffee and clean environment. The biscuits and gravy were amazing! Smokey and delicious. I might lobby the wife to eat here tomorrow.
