Terrible quality, service and conditions! There are so many other places to eat in Elmhurst. This one doesn’t deserve to still be standing.

can’t believe you haters… pizza palace is the best pizza and in 40 years of going there I have never had bad service… delicious crust and to me it is just the same every time… we moved away but one of our first stops when we visit… love the creamy garlic dressing… can’t get that anywhere else that I’ve ever been… last time we visited we got take out from pizza palace, robertos and lou malnatis… just cause someone lost a bet and that was what the winner won… pizza palace came out the winner…

Great Pizza. Great salad. Awful service. Poor value. These folks have patted themselves on the back for way too long to think they are a quality pizza place. It seems they have no desire to adjust with the times, and with the fact they own the building they have no sense of urgency to make customer service a priority. I was reminded why I no longer give them my business regardless of how good their house dressing is this past week with a 45 minute wait(after the 25 minute wait they said for my food pick up). Not an apology. not an acknowledgement, not a «can I just give you a simple cup of water». You go ahead and be used and abused for the sake of their pizza… I wont be back, at least for another calendar year hoping a different son/brother takes over.

My family has been coming here for 50 years, since my dad was 14. My parents went here on their first date, and I’ve been eating here since before I can remember. Now that I’ve moved to NYC I don’t get a chance to come by that often, but I’m in town for Mother’s Day(and so is my dad) and we decided to order pizza tonight for old times’ sake. Boy, was that a mistake. I don’t know if there’s new ownership or new recipes or if they were just having an off night, but this was NOT the Pizza Palace I’ve known for my entire life(I’m almost 42, my dad 64). Not only was it overpriced($ 32 for two small pizzas) but the pizzas themselves were ridiculously paltry in terms of both taste and toppings. My dad’s pizza was a supreme and there were maybe three or four pieces of sausage on the entire pizza and only sporadic spots of peppers, onions, and mushrooms; and my cheese pizza’s layer of cheese was so thin that you could see the sauce through it in several places. We are so disappointed I highly doubt we will ever go back again. We’ll just chalk this up to yet another old-time neighborhood business that has lost its special something that kept people coming back for decades. With all the changes Elmhurst has seen since I was a girl growing up there, it’s not surprising it’s happening to so many once-beloved businesses, but I sure do wish this weren’t one of them.

I will begin by saying that I think Pizza Palace makes one of the best thin crust sausage pizzas period. If I was writing on that alone, they would get a 5⁄5. I have sampled a few things off the rest of the menu and they are average, not memorable in any way, but not bad. Fridays they do an all-you-can-eat pizza lunch which is a real good deal. Unfortunately they do not use their thin crust for this, its a thicker crust which is nowhere as good as their thin. All that being said, I still consider Pizza Palace to be one of my favorite suburban pizza outlets, and often crave their delicious thin crust sausage pizza! Recommended!

People who know me know I like nice things just like the next person. However, nice things do not always mean new and fancy. I appreciate legacy. I appreciate longevity. I appreciate story behind the history. Pizza Palace has been there for over 60 years, right there by the train track in Elmhurst. I always love looking at the fancy older houses on the way to Pizza Palace as they were not just fancy and big, but they had so much characters, including some of Frank Lloyd Wright’s houses. In fact, my absolute dream home was there. That house isn’t big or fancy either. But when I saw it, I fell in love. One can dream, right? All of these reviews that just bashed PP obviously do not appreciate the legacy. They didn’t have stories written from going there for years. They didn’t pay homage to the fact why the booths and carpets were so old. I missed PP today. I woke up dreaming about their pizza. Being in Minnesota now and hearing so many people raved about Giordano’s got my mind boggled. Really? Giordano’s is what’s famous. Lou Malnatti’s, Uno, Due… Ah I take PP any day. I used to come here almost every weekend. This place was part of my happiest days and my saddest days. I came here when I was sick for the best chicken soup ever. I came here with my best of friends and families. I brought everyone who came to visit here to show them what’s Chicago pizza is all about. They would go to Lou or Giordano’s after as well, and it never failed they would call and say PP is da shit. Their thin crust is great, their deep dish is a wonder. I also love their baked chicken parm. On Saturday nights, Rob Lane would sing with his acoustic guitar. One day, I gave him a Damien Rice CD and I asked him to learn the songs. When he saw me in there, he would sing Cannonball. He also would start an American Pie sing a long… a long long time ago. I can still remember how that music used to make me smile… This is more paying my respect than a review. The service was always hit or miss. I had my fave server who became a friend. She invited us to her kid’s bday party. She took care of us always when she happened to work. The bad service at times even was still worth it for the pizza. They also serve the coldest beers in frozen mugs. It’s just awesome. I love this place like I love my grandma. I guess that’s the best way I can put it to words.

This place has been a family favorite for years. Just ordered delivery last night and my order arrived within an hour. Their thin crust is the bomb and I can’t get enough of their sausage stuffed mushrooms.

As an experiment I ordered a pizza from Pizza Palace and one from Two Brother’s From Italy. In order to do a true comparison, both pizza’s had exactly the same toppings. I like pineapple and Canadian bacon, while my buddy likes Italian beef and giardinera. So, we got ½ and ½, which, by the way, is a good way to rapidly increase the price. Anyway, four of us did the taste test. All votes went for Two Brother’s From Italy. Everyone agreed that Pizza Palace’s quality wasn’t that good. It’s a shame, because I remember eating here in the past and having a good pizza. However, the last couple of times haven’t been very good. There are just too many good places in town to ever come back. Sorry PP, this is it. As of this writing there are ninety-six restaurants in Elmhurst. I plan on eating at, and reviewing, every one. Follow me on Unilocal

It’s outdated, but personally I when I go to a restaurant I go there to eat food, not the décor. That’s just me though. So if you’re hungry for sandwiches, apps, pasta, and/or pizza this is a great little spot.

I am not sure what is going on with this place as of late??? Pizza Palace has always been a favorite spot to go for our family. The last few times the service has been just awful. This last time takes the cake! Was in here a few weeks ago with my family. It took about a good 10 – 15 minute for someone to stop by and get our drink order… and by this time we were ready to order our food. My parents ended up splitting a cheese and sausage pizza, my brother ordered a cheese pizza and I had asked for the cavatelli. Mine dish came with a choice of soup or salad. I had asked for soup. About 5 minutes later our server walks out and says the cook said the soup is bad… so I said not to worry and that I would just pass as I really didn’t want a salad. Another couple minutes passes and she walks back out and says they are making another batch. I told her that was ok and that I would just wait for my food. She ended up bringing me the soup which wasn’t even luke warm and very salty. So after a while my parents and my brother’s pizzas come out. My parents looked absolutely delicious… guess the only good part of this dinner. My brother’s pizza however was a bit on the extra crispy burnt side. He was starving so he just ate it. Meanwhile, I am waiting for my dish to come out. At this point our server becomes non-existent. I have no food and drinks need to be refilled. I had been sitting there for about 5 – 10 minutes watching my family enjoy their dinner… by this time I just wanted to pass on having anything to eat. My mom ended up getting up and tracking down the manager to find out what happened with my dinner. He comes back to say that they have run out of cavatelli… WHAT??? Didn’t you think to tell me that sooner. So no dinner for me. Not that I was that hungry anyways. What absolutely takes the cake on this is when we got our bill… they totally messed up our order and still charged us for the cold soup I had… REALLY pizza palace??? Not a great way to keep your customers wanting to come back.

Great sauce, great pizza, good service. They’ve been here in Elmhurst 60 years! Friendly and very reasonable. I’m from the city and have only lived here a year but this ace is old school and they make their own sausage, you will not be disappointed!

Love the pizza here. The red sauce is so good. My favorites are the thin cheese and the margarita. Fresh ingredients… They even make their own Italian sausage. I also love the authentic old school feel of the décor. It’s retro without trying to be.

the food is great. let me start off by saying that. But… I had my daughter’s 6th birthday party there, they were able to make their own pizzas which was awesome but unfortunately the waitress(an older blonde lady) was extremely rude and seemed confused with everything. They also wanted to charge us 25 cents per plate and fork for the cake(which if they told me ahead of time I would of just bought my own) The wait staff needs some help, even when we asked another waitress for some water(young girl with dark hair) she gave my guest attitude about it. overall I enjoyed the place, but being a former waitress at a pizza place, I was very upset on how they treated us considering we were spending a decent amount of money.(it was almost 30 people so we spent quiet a bit).

Stumbled upon this place on Friday night & really loved the pizza. The owners talked to us for awhile and were very welcoming. This is a family owned business that had been there for fifty years or so & everything is homemade. They also pour a generous glass of chianti. Great family place –old school pizza place!

As many times as I passed this place I’ve never been here until a couple days ago. The thin crust pizza was great and my mom loved her salad. The pepperoni was crispy which I like and they put fresh mozzarella in my moms salad. Its a good place where if you happen upon it at random walking down the street.

Been going to Pizza Palace ever since I was a kid. The thin crust here is by far my favorite thin crust. It all starts with how each pie is made fresh and served piping hot. The crust is cooked perfectly every time always nice and crispy but never burnt. The décor is great. they still have a working jukebox that plays records with the controllers at the tables and they actually work. You take the luck of the draw with the wait staff here. A few of the waitresses are less then personable but overall I find the service here to be on par with other pizza places. All and all the thin crust here can’t be beat.

I was totally delighted by Pizza Palace. I mean, we knew it was sort of a hole in the wall, but the wild card was whether the food was any good. But it was a random weeknight, we were hungry, I was cranky… let’s try it out! I see a lot of reviews mentioning screaming kids. Let me tell you, if you go on a Tuesday night, there won’t be any kids there. We were the only customers in the place for the first hour or so. It was just us and the waitress. So this place is a trip. I mean, it’s almost literally a trip back in time. Wood paneling, big gaudy chandeliers, arcade games, free jukeboxes at the booths and a tiny bar. Straight out of my childhood. And everything is homemade. We got fried ravioli and a large pan pizza. The ravioli kinda cracked me up – it was like they had taken giant squares of homemade ravioli and sliced them into random shapes. Triangles, big rectangles, small triangles. But man, it was GOOD. Wonderful ricotta, crispy outside, and the sauce that came with it was a delightful meaty marinara. The pizza also cracked me up – again, there’s no uniformity here! Tiny pieces, huge ones, all over the place. And here, also, it was quite tasty. Plenty of ooey-gooey cheese, a zesty sauce and a great bready chewy crust. The waitress looked like she’d been there since the beginning of time. Or at least since the place opened. But very friendly, attentive without being annoying, no complaints here. Old-school to the max, with very tasty food and dated décor. I like it. We’ll be back.

This place looked like it stepped out the 1980s. I seriously expected John Candy to come through the door. If I was grading the pizza, it would definitely be a five star. The thin crust was so crisp(love the cracker thin crust) and the cheese and sausage blended so well together. I was full but I couldn’t stop eating it. That stuff is addicting. They get dinged for the lousy waitress. The pizza came out of the oven and was slammed on the table along with the plates. She didn’t bother to give silverware(had to grab some from another table) or check on us all night(even though our drinks were getting low). In fact, another waitress did box up the remaining pizza and brought the check. Second complaint was the loud, I mean LOUD, children running around. It must have been baseball awards night because they were all in uniforms screaming, «Gimme five dollars» to play the video game machines. I know it’s not completely the restaurant’s fault(Hey parents, not everyone wants to listen to your kid scream!) but still it killed the atmosphere with the little brats shrieking. I will definitely be back, maybe I’ll pick the day when children won’t be in abundance.
