So, my wife has never had Indian food. Told her about Nan.(Think that’s how you spell it). After that & some tasty curry chicken she was sold. Me? I know Indian food to some degree. This place is very clean & fast. I would put them better than average. Not the best but a tad better than 3 stars. Worth checking out.

Grossly overpriced, dishes come with very little compared to other indian restaurants(and no combos), flavors just not there. One thing I did appreciate was they asked how spicy I want my dish, but asking for«the spiciest» is the same thing as asking for mild or less than mild at other places.

Thoroughly enjoyed my food! The hara masala and tandori chicken are amazing! Also really liked the dosa.

We were visiting from Arizona and I was craving some Chicken Tika Masala. KC’s Tandoor was suggested by an Indian lady who ran the hotel we stayed at. The prices were not expensive at all, the portions were a good size, and the food was delicious. It is the kind of place I would return to.

I don’t pretend to have loads of Indian cuisine experience but I’ve never had a bad meal here. They even have these unique lunchtime burritos that I would highly recommend.

My wife & I had the Chicken Tikka Masala and the Aloo Gobi. Wow, great tastes and we finished it all. We’re going back again soon.

On April 9 I had the opportunity to eat at what I thought was one of my favorite Indian food restaurants. I have been eating Indian food in Los Angeles and found a place that is just awesome. However KC Tandoor use to be the best. I was ready for that food to enter my mouth and my taste buds to turn flips in joy. That did not happen. I was terribly disappointed! The sauce was runny, the chicken was over cooked. It just was not good! I am not sure if it was a different cook. I may try the Tikki Chicken Masala one more time but I think I am going to be dissappointed again. Now I Love their lentil! It is the best I have tasted. I may just have to bring my Indian food down with me when i come to San Diego. I have left over Tikki Masala and I will probably toss it.

My absolute FAVORITE Indian Food restaurant. I live way out off the 15, but whenever I am in the area, I must have my Palak Paneer.

Uttapams are delicious but very greasy. Chicken curry gravy is tasty but feel like pieces are tossed into the gravy and served up. Traditional Indian chicken curry always calls for marination of the chicken. Pricey for quantity and styrofoam takeout ambience.

I had the lunch plate at KC’s and found it to be very tasty. The rice is cooked fluffy and the curry sauce is seasoned right for my Desi palate. Today’s dinner was great. We tried the vegetarian Dosa menu. Ordered plain and spring dosa. The plain dosa was crispy and the taste reflected the right touch of fermentation and ingridients to the dosa batter. The spring dosa had«Molagai Podi» sprinkled on the inside and the vegetable filling of carrots, onions, green peppers and carrots was delicious. Also tried the Uttapam, with spring veggies. Very tasty. The sambar, South Indian lentil soup was superb. Highly recommended.

I’ve eaten here three times; 2x in house, 1x togo. It has been delicious each time. The sauces are very flavorful, the ingredients fresh, and the customer service is friendly. I’ve had the chicken tikka masala, the tandoori chicken, the naan, garlic naan, lentils and yogurt sauce. I’ve loved everything and it has been very consistent. I have no idea how this place has 3.5 stars when it seems every barely mediocre place in north county gets 4. I’d give it 5 but I reserve those for the utmost of culinary experiences. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite places and I’m looking forward to my next visit and trying new dishes.

Just average for me. It’s a fast food style set up with sit down restaurant pricing. which is sort of weird. But I got past that and decided to try it out. The space was very cold and not very cozy. I ordered chicken tikka masala because it’s usually a safe good dish. It was ok, not great. The items that came with it were just alright too; rice and naan were average. The yogurt thing was straight up nasty. I don’t think I will be coming back. I would rather spend an extra few dollars and eat at Royal India.

The name is tandoor for a reason! Chicken tandoors are awesome! So authentic… it almost tastes like what I used to eat in India. So there it is. Must have chicken tandoors. The other things we ordered was masala chai and lamb curry. Lamb curry was delicious and Masala chai wasn’t that good. It definitely smelled great but chai was watery. Could have added more milk.

As somebody who passes through London on a semi-regular basis, I’ve become something of an Indian food snob. Obnoxious, right? Nobody likes a snob… But even dialing back my expectations, San Diego doesn’t exactly suffer from an overabundance of amazing Indian food joints. Which is why KC’s was nothing short of revelatory — located behind a strip mall in Encinitas, this tiny little place is easy to miss. In fact, unless you’re looking for it, you’re not going to randomly pass by. But you’re reading this, so now you know! The meal deals are solid — rice, beans and an entrée with some tasty sauces. I’ve never had a bad dish here, whether it’s the paneer, the chana masala or my favorite of them all, the Tofu Tikka Masala, which isn’t even on the menu, but they’ll gladly make it on request. Although the food is served on plastic trays or in white take-out boxes, it’s anything but fast food — the dishes are rich in flavor and they’ll happily accommodate your spice tolerance, whether timid and bland or five-alarm aggressive. If you’re looking for a romantic spot to gaze into your date’s eyes over the armomatic wash of Punjabi spices, this isn’t the place — décor-wise, it’s like a 50s diner, with some imported Indian spices and produce available for sale, just for the heck of it. But the employees are always nice and you never wait long for the meal. I always get it to go and try as I might, there’s always too much food for me to finish in one sitting. This is an ideal option for movie and take-out night.

Indian cuisine is not typically something that lends itself to a fast food style environment. Generally, it ultimately just becomes large tubs of curry, devoid of spice and laden with sugar and salt for taste and freshness, waiting to be dished out in scoops whenever someone stops by on their 30 minute lunch break. Anything not covered in sauce is typically premade and dried out into pellets before it hits the plate. All of this is an extreme shame because, done right, Indian food can be pretty damned incredible. So, tucked between a Thai place, McDonald’s, and the cess pit known as B-Dubs is KC’s Tandoor. With expectations of the quality of food being high, given the illustriousness of it’s neighbors, this place never really rises much loftier than average. Now, I’ve eaten quite a bit of pretty amazing Indian food; I’ve also eaten at quite a few food court Indian places. KC’s sits around the middle. And that isn’t good. A lot of people are just used to steak, potatoes, and whatever a McNugget is. Strange sounding names and things not smothered in gravy are scary to them. If you’re going to branch out and have a broader appeal, you should make sure your stuff knocks it out of the park and show why you should come in and try the Paneer. When you have something as ‘different’ to most people as Vinadloo and Masala, most will just say, ‘Naan.‘ No? Screw you, people; making jokes ain’t easy! Anyway, I’ve been here a couple of times trying different things and never been really wow’d by anything. The biggest disappointment was the 2-Piece Tandoori Chicken which was well spiced, but grilled almost dry with barely any juiciness and very little meat across a leg and a thigh. I paired it with two sides of the Pulao Rice(something I come here and get a side of often to take home to serve with my own lentils), which I always enjoy, and some Naan. This particular visit I had come with my toddler son and he wouldn’t touch any of it(including the bread). All of that, with a drink, for close to $ 10, making it not only a disappointment taste-wise, but also a relatively expensive one at that. On the plus side, I’ve also had their Gulab Jamun, which is fantastic. The rose flavoring is very fragrant, without being overwhelming to the senses. It’s sweet, cool, and rich; I recommend it wholeheartedly. Everything else I’ve sampled, the Chicken Tikka Masala and the Lamb Roti are the two main ones that come to mind, have all shared that average appeal. I do plan on coming back to try again before giving up. But, as of right now, this isn’t a place I plan on trying to convince others to come along.

this is our go to place for Indian. There isn’t a lot of option for Indian in N county unfortunately. We love the dosas. My boy will eat the whole thing himself if he is allowed. Since it is always something we order, we have been mostly happy with how its prepared. However, there are times when its not been crispy as we like it. The other dish we like is the chicken tikka masala. However, I feel as if the quantity has gotten smaller and the sauce is not as tasty as before. The price is also more expensive than when we discovered this place a couple of years ago. I really hope they work on quality control a little more as I would like to continue to patronize this business.

Really good food. Enjoyed it very much. Chicken tikka Marsala is good and the naan was HOT and fantastic. Wait time was a tad long and not all the choices nor do they have any combos and I love at least two options on my place but otherwise a good stop.

A good overall experience, decent(potentially Americanized palate) with excellent and polite counter staff. Dish: #10a — Chicken Tikka Marsala Combo (Level 10 Spiciness) Free nan, rice &2 sides Summary: I am a bit of a Chicken Tikka Marsala addict/snob and what I find is most establishments have a great and hearty cream sauce and lesser tandoori chicken within. This place was the opposite. I liked the sauce but it wasn’t as spicy or creamy as some. However the solid rendition of the chicken made for a nice overall meal(Usually tandoori chicken gets dry). +1 star for service +1 star for cleanliness +1 star for price +1 star for decent taste

SERIOUSLYDELICIOUS. We came for a late lunch on a Friday afternoon, and the restaurant was about half full. **FYI — they’re closed for a couple hours between lunch & dinner.** I noticed right away that prices are $ 2 or $ 3 higher than most casual no-waiter Indian restaurants so my expectations definitely got a little higher. We ordered the uttapam & masala dosa and both meals were served with a side of sambar and coconut chutney for dipping. Those high prices??? SOWORTHIT. The uttapam came out first and it was heavenly — the perfect combination of crispy and soft, spicy and sweet, and I’m still dreaming about that subtle sour flavor of the pancake! When I thought things couldn’t get better, here came the masala dosa. The beautiful warm brown blanket enveloped a delicious potato masala mix that matched perfectly with the sambar. KC’s Tandoor is shockingly good & is serving up some of the best South Indian street food I’ve ever had(and I’ve been to India!) 4 stars for now since this review is based off of only one visit. It can easily jump to 5 stars if the food proves consistent.
