We’ve been looking forward to checking out this spot for weeks. Unfortunately, our experience was not awesome today. Good stuff: Staff was friendly Dutch Crunch bread was really good Free cookie – that was nice Close to Moonlight beach for a quick lunch break Challenges: Expensive. $ 27 for the Swine, a kids PB&J, chips and 2 drinks. Pricey for not that much food. Swine sandwich was okay. I expected it to be amazing for the price. Diet Coke(from machine) stopped working – grabbed a can instead, no big deal. Lemonade(out of the plastic dispenser) was awful. Maybe the worst lemonade I’ve ever had. I tried the lemonade out of the machine instead and something was off with that one too. Like the machine isn’t getting the ratio right or something. I gave up. I see why people like the place – lots of variety on the menu and that Dutch Crunch is pretty delicious. Unfortunately, we didn’t love anything enough to return for the price.

Maybe it was an off day or something, but the meat on my sandwiches looked, for lack of a better word, gross. Not that it’s about the money, but $ 25 for 2 sandwiches, kind of expected more quality.

Stumbled upon this place– soooo DELICOUS and HUGE sandwiches. My husband and I split a sandwich and it was plenty of food. Get the sourdough roll made in house. Take it to the beach. Atmosphere is nothing to write home about and they Diet Coke was out(a minor tragedy for me). We would definitely come back again next time we are in town.

Very good! I hope they succeed. They have very interesting and delicious sandwich flavors. The sandwiches are huge! The only thing I dislike about the place is that they use microwaves incessantly. Other than that, though, perfect.

YUM! Yum yum yummy yum — what a yummy turkey avocado(#2) sandwich I just had from The Sandwich Spot. A turkey sandwich is sort of my safe food, my go to. It was $ 13 for a sandwich and a soda… pretty standard for the Encinitas area. Everything on the sandwich tasted super fresh, and the«dutch crunch bread» was a new special bread for me. Granted, it did rip the top of my mouth open a bit, but well worth it! One sandwich was enough for lunch, and then a later afternoon snack. The Sandwich Spot is located right on the 101 next to «Handel’s» ice cream and«The Lofts». I’ll be back for another lunchtime sammy :).

I’d been meaning to try The Sandwich Spot for awhile since the reviews seemed pretty uniformly high and I love a good sandwich. I decided I’d get some lunch before work and called to place a pick up order while I drove over. I was asked if I could hold and said yes, and that’s where I waited for most of the 15 minute drive there. Well, actually, I wasn’t on hold, the phone was just sitting on the counter and I could still hear everything that was going on. About 12 minutes in, the phone was hung up and then when I tried to call again the line was busy. I got there and mentioned it to the guy at the counter(not only because I was annoyed, but also because if anyone else was trying to call in an order they were certainly getting a busy signal as well). He told me that the phone was being weird and kept ringing and he couldn’t get it to pick up… Which is strange because, as I said, I wasn’t actually on hold, I could hear what was happening the entire time and actually tried yelling into my phone to get his attention at various points. But fine, whatever, restaurants get busy and things fall through the cracks. My time before work was rapidly dwindling so I quickly placed my order, waited, and then headed back home only to find when I arrived that my order was totally wrong. I had asked for lettuce, tomato and onion, no pickles or peppers. My order was missing the tomato and onion and had peppers. I will say that the Dutch Crunch bread was pretty tasty, but overall it was a pretty awful first impression.

This is our 3rd or 4th time here and they always hit a home run! The meat is fresh, bread is on point and the staff is super friendly. Hands down the Dutch crunch roll is the way to go. There is no bad sandwich at this place and they even do vegetarian too. Must eat! Support your local business.

Their sandwiches are pretty good but the prices give me pause every time I come here. Generally the sandwiches are $ 10, and some are higher. Don’t be fooled by their website… we just went earlier today and spent $ 9.99 on a sandwich that’s listed on their site @ $ 8.49. Either their website is outdated or they’re charging seasonal prices. Either way it wasn’t cool.

I am forever on the hunt for a good sammy place. Submarina doesn’t cut it, Subway is gross and Jersey Mikes? No thanks. I have had this place bookmarked for awhile and was starving but had to make a trip to Poway so decided to stop by for something to nosh on in the car. I always judge a place by their Italian sub, so that is what I went with, the #1(I forget the cute name for it, but that doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate the thought that goes into them. Can’t wait to try«The Heisenberg».) It was outstanding. I did see another reviewer said they are heavy on the mayo and I love that. Every other place barely puts any on there, and I always have to ask for extra so this was welcome. The sammy was overflowing with delicious meats and condiments. And THEBREAD. Oh my. I can’t wait to bring my husband back to try this place!

One of the better Sandwiches in North County. Review — I never made it to the sandwich spot in Palm Springs so I was happy see that there was one in Encinitas. We ordered a few kid sandwiches and a Standard on Dutch Crunch bread. The ordering process is configured in a way to expedite order taking first, then have the cashier ring you up in a separate line. I think this is a pretty good approach. The sandwiches are well proportioned with the meat to bread ratio. The real star here is the bread of course, and my favorite being the Dutch Crunch(also known as Tiger Bread). While the taste is sweet, it works well with their sandwiches and it separates The Sandwich Spot from the competition. In the end sandwich aficionados should put this on their must try list. Recommendations — — They’re pretty heavy handed with the mayo so if that’s your thing great. If it’s not, be sure to ask for light mayo. — Dutch Crunch is the bread you want to order, but there may be slight shedding of the roof of your mouth. — Moonlight Beach is just down the street. This is a great place to grab some lunch and enjoy the San Diego sun. The grudge — As everyone has heard by now, one of Unilocal USA’s most discriminate and respected reviewers(Brian K from Laguna Hills) gave this place 2 stars. While that doesn’t impact how I review an establishment, the nasty response that the owner posted has ruffled a few feathers. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

I’ve finally found the perfect sandwich!!! The Godfather with Dutch crunch bread is amazing. The service here is great and my sandwich was ready in under 5 min.5 stars all the way!

Learn from my mistake and take the 4.5-star rating with a grain of salt, or a heavy dash of it. The Swine sandwich seemed like a hastily concocted piece of work– stuff just throw together, like a squirrel shooting darts for the first time. Meat quality is decent and doable but not exactly screaming«Worth it!» for almost a $ 9 sandwich. But without a doubt, the sandwiches are very large– quantity over quality. Combine the above with the tight parking situation as it’s near the lovely beaches of Encinitas, you might want to give pause before heading out here. $ 9 for all the above– ouch.

the kids and i met the wife-unit at the SANDWICHSPOT for lunch. we got there early enough to park right in front. when they’re busier, you might try driving around the corner and parking inside/underneath the building. the nine-year old boy ordered THESTANDARD(hot turkey, bacon, cheddar and avocado). the elven-year old girl had THEBRICKHOUSE(hot pastrami, roast beef, salami and cheddar). both were«kid-sized» on a sourdough roll and both were devoured with reckless abandon. the wife and i split THELEGENDARYLOFTY(hot turkey, avocado, bacon, bomb sauce and cream cheese) on a DUTCHCRUNCH roll. really as freaking good a sandwich as i have had in a while. with chips and drinks, we had the nearly perfect lunch on the patio, soaking up sunshine on one of those brutally beautiful winter afternoons we have to endure along the southern CALIFORNIA coast. life is good.

I’ve drove by this place for a while now and checked Unilocal to see how it is; 5 stars, I had to come check it out and I’m glad I did. My boyfriend and I came around noon not crowded at all. It was great, the atmosphere in here is very positive. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. I got the standard with everything on it on Dutch crunch bread, my boyfriend got the hit man on Dutch crunch. My sandwich was amazing, I loved everything about it. I especially loved the bread and how crunchy it was, I also liked how the cheese inside was melted. My boyfriend enjoyed his as well and also loved the bread. I can’t wait to come back and try more, what an excellent place for a sandwich. I would highly recommend.

Sandwich lovers… make it a point to try this place if you haven’t already. This spot doesn’t skimp out on ingredients. Most places I go to I’ll often ask for double meat but not here. The sandwiches are large and packed with lots of meat and fresh veggies so splitting a sandwich will definitely be enough. Unless you’re starving after a good workout and your inner glutton takes over(speaking from experience of course). The dutch crunch bread option is very tasty and reminiscent of Ike’s Place dutch crutch bread. So far I’ve tried the Standard(on sliced wheat bread), the Legendary Lofty(on dutch crunch), and the San Diego Chicken(on dutch crunch) and I must say they are all extremely satisfying. That bomb sauce that’s included is exactly what it is… BOMB. Parking isn’t hard to find here. There is street parking on all sides of the plaza where the establishment is located and there is also an underground parking garage. The staff here are all very energetic and friendly so it’s always a pleasant visit. With that and their amazing sandwiches I must say this is my favorite sandwich place in the North County.

First time here. Tried to come on a Monday but they aren’t open. I’m a sandwich nut so i had to check it out. 25 different and very unique combo sandwiches. Got the 16 Legendary Lofty on the crunch dutch bread and all toppings. Really good especially their bomb sayce and has cream cheese on it with turkey and avocado. Was made quite quickly and hot. Will be back. P. s. my review was their 100th. I just told the owner and he hooked me up with a coupon for a free sandwich next time. Bonus.

The Sandwich Spot in Encinitas is long overdue, especially for the area. This place meets a high demand for a great sandwich that is close to home and they fit the bill quite nicely. The service is great, location is awesome and the sandwiches are delicious. Ive ordered the Cardiff club and the San Diego Chicken on Dutch crunch bread and it was awesome. The business model is very similar to the Mr. Pickles franchises up in Northern California. My only knock on this place is their drink and chips selection, not enough teas and the chips options were things that I don’t particularly like(Doritos, Cheetos, Lays, etc…). Would prefer some of the natural brands such as Dirty or something similar. Nevertheless, the sandwiches and service are awesome and I will repeat several times over as this is likely the best sandwich joint in north county. Pros– Location Fantastic service Great sandwiches Portions Prices Indoor/outdoor seating Fresh Dutch crunch bread Cons– Drink selection Chip selection Parking

Located in the Loft Apartment Building, this new sandwich spot is churning out some tasty sandwiches. I stopped in for lunch and went for the BLT with fresh avocado on marble rye for $ 7.99. The BLT was quite good. Other then needing a little more bacon, I enjoyed it very much. More bacon would of given the BLT that great bacon flavor and texture or better yet, a thicker bacon with a better flavor profile. The avocado was ripe and creamy with a good ripe flavor, and the lettuce and tomatoes were freshly sliced crisp. I really liked the chopped yellow peppers they added to the BLT. They were not spice, but they add that great pepper flavor and a bit a sourness via the marinade. The marble rye was very moist and tasted good, but it did not have that well developed rye flavor. It was very good bread nevertheless. I asked for not mayo but rather a deli mustard which was very good. They also offer a variety of chips The owner and employees were very nice and accommodating. The offer seating inside and outside, and you can call your orders ahead of time.

I think I have finally found a great sandwich spot in my neighborhood. Easy to remember since it’s named Sandwich Spot. I stopped in on a hot afternoon for a bit of AC and a quick lunch. I had a bit of a challenge in picking out which sandwich to order. There were a lot of tempting combinations. I got The Standard on Dutch crunchy bread. It’s turkey, bacon, cheddar and avocado. It was an outstanding sandwich! All of the ingredients were top quality and the sandwich maker put them together in perfect proportion. The restaurant itself is somewhat spartan. They have a few tables inside and outside. With easy beach music playing in the background and surf videos on the TV, it was a relaxing spot to eat lunch. The staff were attentive and the owner cool. I will be back sooner than later.
