Very strong showing with the salads, soups(they offered about 10 soups… cream of mushroom and chicken Mexican meatball soup rocked), bread, focaccia, and muffins all were delicious. Their weak suit was the dessert bar. It really needs an overhaul. Staff was very friendly and attentive.

I was just at this souplantation eating with my family when the manager kindly came to my table and advised us that our infant baby, was babbling too loud. He was not crying, not throwing a tantrum, he was just being a happy baby making baby noises. She approached the table and said she had gotten a complaint about the baby, we told her we would leave and she said okay. Why was the other guest more important than me? Why did I have to cut my lunch short and not the other person? It says this place is kid friendly and I’ve been coming here for years, I’ve heard it all and I’ve never seen anyone invited to leave even when the kids are crying bloody murder! I was humiliated and embarrassed to have her come to my table and tell me my baby’s voice was disturbing someone’s lunch. I wish there would have been a sign on the door that said that babies are not allowed, I would have taken my business elsewhere happily where at least I would have been able to finish what I paid for. So long souplantation you have lost me and my family as costumers for ever.

You’ve seen one soup plantation and you’ve seen them all. This spot does not stand out, it’s just like their other locations. They always have 2 cheesy breads out, kraft style mac n cheese, basic pasta, baked yams and potatoes and about 6 or 7 soups and some type of desert and ice cream… that’s it. The best thing I get here is the fat salad I whip up. The salad bar saved them. If it wasn’t for their salad bar I definitely wouldn’t be coming here for their kraft macaroni or ice cream. The salad bar is very well stocked and the veggies always fresh. I definitely come here for their salad bar and 1 or 2 soups. Everything else is kiddie food. Their salad bar gets 5 stars, but everything else needs to catch up. Until then… it’s 3 stars… BTW their ranch is on point. Wish the rest of their food was as good as the salas bar.

For those who live in between the two locations I think you know what I am talking about. The quality at this location just isn’t as good. I don’t want bash, so I won’t. But here are the observations: The food is colder because the traffic is slower. And the worst crime of the night… The lemonade was not the same. #whereisthepulp I won’t say too much more but man I love those muffins!

I find it very sad that a restaurant that calls itself the soup plantation has the most blah tasting soup I have ever tried to eat. The rest of the food is far below good quality food i’ve had much better food in a TV dinner. The only food here that is actually good is your salad but I believe paying more than $ 10 for a salad is incredibly ridiculous. Please hire someone who knows how to make a good soup and actually put some spices in it.

Hardly a buffet, I was so disappointed! I should have checked with Unilocal yesterday before my husband and I wasted our money.

This place was a little underwhelming, especially since my childhood memories of Soup Plantation were always of the RB location. The salad bar is always good, although the pre-mixed asian salad this time was a little soggy. The soups have been better, such as the Chicken noodle, which has mega pieces of chicken that are too big too fit in your mouth(or awkward cartilage pieces that shouldn’t be in the soup or noodles that are too soft/soggy). The bakery area could have a large selection than just muffins and cheesebread… I’m always happy by the time I hit the ice cream section, and the drinks(strawberry lemonade, etc) are always addicting. I’ll be back here I’m sure, but it definitely doesn’t top my list of desirable restaurants in the area. Sometimes we’ll even drive down to RB, even though I live right next to this one.

Okay this location is way smaller then the Vista or Carlsbad ones but I am still giving them four stars. The thing I appreciate about this location is the AC, how fine they chop the veggies, and the staff. I love SP. :)

If you like eggs on you salad you’ll get a surprise there is none because of the shortage until the provider can provide. Well i like my eggs SP should look elsewhere. That is great for their loyalty but I found eggs that didn’t cost much $$. Besides that the curry lobster bisque was good

Healthy food at a low price for a buffet. My only complaint is that compared to the other souplantations is how small it is. This place can get crowded on the weekends especially on Sundays. Had an issue at checkout where I was charged for an extra drink, but they were nice enough to redo the order.

My family went here for the first time today! The cashier guy was so helpful and came and checked up on us constantly since we told him it was our first time ! My brother loves it and wants to come back! We will definitely come back in the near future ! The food is so good and healthy too! I loved their warm soup and their amazing pizza ! The create your own salad is cool too!

Just found out why I haven’t seen my favorite waiter Christian. He isn’t here anymore. I am bummed. He was the only one that seemed to understand customer service. My kids always looked forward to seeing him and getting cookies. Bad mistake SP. Shouldn’t have let him go. We come almost every tues. Maybe not anymore.

I’m a fan because where else can you have all you can eat soup, salad and dessert for less than $ 10 with decent service?! This location is always clean and the bars are always spotless. The staff are friendly and always willing to help keep your dining area clear of used plates and utensils. The parking lot is never too crowded and the air conditioning is always set to a perfect temperature. This place does get busy when they send out coupons via e-mail or regular mail.

They have since raised their prices I can tell because of the difference in prices in my online mailer coupons. If you are on their mailing list, eating here can be a lot cheaper. Sure this place is smaller than most Souplantations around(I’m looking at Vista and Rancho Bernardo who are way bigger) but it is cleaner around the food stations and bathrooms. Their menu offerings vary month to month as they feature vegetables or fruit with regards to those in season. For example, this month they were featuring strawberries, and it is by far my most favorite Souplantation featured food(strawberry fields salad, strawberry vinaigrette, strawberry muffins, etc). I just wish they brought back their strawberry butter. Gosh that was a good spread. There have recently been some new drink choices to include a few craft beers in cans and infused water for take out. Quite possibly good choices but I’m good with their strawberry lemonade(with a splash of Sprite/7-Up) while I dine. If you’re looking for an array of desserts, you won’t find much here. Hence the name«soup“lantation…I mean come on… You get a choice of their cobbler or various bread puddings for dinner, tapioca pudding, fruits(whole and sliced – usually sliced oranges and whole apples), frozen yogurt(vanilla, swirl, and chocolate) with hot fudge or caramel sauce, 3 – 4 yogurt toppings(crumbled oreos, granola, etc), as well as pudding.

Dude. You can call me a Basic B if you must, but I just love Souplantation. I mean, lets not get all snobby and foodie about it, it’s just a salad bar folks… but where else can you get such a good, healthy, fresh salad, with all your favorite fixins(minus chicken — boo!) for such a good price?! I get coupons in email or mail flyers and it is usually about $ 8 for lunch. Other lunch places I go, I end up getting something unhealthy and spending $ 12 – 15. Despite being one of the smaller stores in this chain, it is a convenient location, and works just fine for me. I usually go at lunch time and it is busy but not overcrowded. Today in particular the salad bar was very nicely stocked. The cashiers, cooks/stockers(?), and bussers were on top of things, as usual. Ironically, considering their first name is SOUP, their soup is the weakest link. They usually have 5 – 6 different ones, and even though I love soup, it’s rare to find one that I really like. Plus, they usually don’t have enough goodies in them(meatballs, veggies, etc). I must say though, that the asian ginger broth, while pretty basic, has super tasty umami thing going on. They also need to add some more protein to their lineup — chicken, steak, what have you… that is usually people’s biggest ‘beef’ with this place. :) Haha yes I just said that. Yukka yukka. All in all, it’s one of my favorite lunch places. My 7 yr old also loves it and I like that I can get him to eat all sorts of veggies and things that he wouldn’t normally try.

I’ve been to a few Souplantations in other areas and this one is definitely smaller in comparison. I’ve been to this one twice now and the salad bar is always very fresh and the soups are delicious — my favorites being the tomato soup & clam chowder. Unfortunately, the pasta and bakery items have always been a hit or miss. The pasta sauces have been either too bland or too strong in flavor and the bakery items are only good right out of the oven.

Good place with a basic variety. Predominantly soups and salads. Few soups that i do not come across much were available, can get typical salads or create your own, some pasta and bread sticks, and basic dessert options. For the price of $ 9 a plate it was a good buy. Mainly ate salad, had a sweet potato, and apple. If you are trying to eat healthy you are able to here. Place was clean, had a lot of space, and was easy to find what i was looking for.

I think this is the only Souplantation in North County SD, not counting the Souplantation Express in Carlsbad but that’s different. The layout is a bit different than what I am used to, but the same kind of food — soup and salads. My go-to salad from the bar is the Caesar salad and my go-to– soup is the clam chowder. Tip for the wise — skip on the the lobster curry soup… bleh. One last rant, I wish they would be more generous with the cookies! I know they are usually quite stingy with a few cookies per table, but geez, one per person?! The worker said she would return to our table if she had extra, but never came back. The Cookie Monster would be disappointed.

I’m still relatively new to the SoupPlantation franchise; but I really like what I’ve experienced so far. I’ve only been to one in LA so far, but I was highly impressed with it. Here in Escondido, this branch of the SP is slightly smaller. But it pretty much met my expectations from previous experience. Overall, the establishment was clean and kept tidy and well organized. We especially liked the setup for the salad buffet at the entrance, followed by the cashier and then the seating area. Their seating options were bountiful; as they had regular tables and then they had sectioned booths that were separated along the sides. The staff was also friendly and polite. We were waited on several times while dining and we never had our cups of water empty at any time; they also cleared our plated frequently and replaced our napkins. The salad selection was the usual variety; which included Asian, Cobb, Caesar, Garden and any other variety you can create. I think perhaps the ONLY negative I could find in my experience is that the wonton salad was old and soggy; but that could be because it was late and they were closing soon(hence not restocking). For a healthier choice to fastfood, I highly recommend The SoupPlantation to anyone; anytime.

I like to start off by saying I don’t usually go to buffet style places, but tonight I was really in a salad and soup type mood, I first looked this place up on Unilocal and almost skipped right over it but decided to give it a try anyway because I the Souplantation is so close to my house. I have to say the manager Matt was very helpful and explaining how everything works but they accidentally charged me for two people when I was actually eating alone which was not a big deal because they immediately reimburse me for the extra money that they charged on my card The actual selection of salads that they had was amazing they had four types of pre made salad and then a salad bar that was ridiculous!!! it had everything on that salad bar that you could possibly put on a salad. There was staff standing around at the bar waiting for people to eat food to restock and clean at all times. I was really impressed by the staff and the cleanliness of this place. Like I said I usually don’t eat buffet style places because of the fact of how dirty they get but this place was amazing the soup tonight was delicious I have the tomato and loaded baked potato I will definitely be returning to soup plantation because I believe that this is now my favorite soup and salad place. I hope this helps you guys out.
