We haven’t been in to 541 in a while, maybe 3 or 4 months, they have stepped up their game! The chefs were rocking it out tonight. The wait staff were kinda slacking(that’s why 4 stars) but the chefs were helping pick up on that too. Quality, which has really never been an issue, seems to be up quite a bit too. Great job tonight guys!

Went there last night. Wasn’t super busy. Wasn’t slow either. Got a booth next to the belt. The waitress was friendly. As soon as we sat down we were able to start picking things out to try. The Salmon over rice was great. I enjoyed the Vegas rolls too. I didn’t have any problem ordering things off the menu either. Had a great time. Everyone was nice. Nothing stood out as amazing except for the price at the end of the night! My wife and I shared 12 plates. And I’m feeling great the next day too. I’ll come back again.

This is really good simple sushi. Great place for a quick lunch or dinner. Some reviewers have been pretty harsh about this place. Service was good and the people working here never hesitated to make a special order. I’ll be back.

Safeway sushi at best. Our calamari was a chewy slice of a tentacled arm – leg– whatever! I couldn’t stomach it. KKKKKrab… white rice… cheap prices for cheap food. Service was fine, but nothing would ever compel me to give it another whirl.

I won’t go too far into detail, as I don’t believe in slander. All I will say is that when walking into a restaurant of ANY kind(even budget ones) I expect at least a base line of mediocrity and health safety with the food. The fact that my food was either still frozen, inedible due to mass amounts of mayo, and swimming with what’s undoubtedly old«Krab salad,» is deplorable. I’ve tried this place on several days, at several times, with several different employees. It simply is unacceptable as a public food serving establishment. I’m sorry, but get your food together, then take a look at the service next. I will not be back.

The most Americanized sushi I’ve ever tasted. Not even Asian fusion, they should just call it American sushi…

Its $ 2 each per item. You get roughly a quarter roll for that price. Not bad at all. The quality is great. Even items that aren’t on the belt, such as Miso soup, are still only $ 2, unless you order a whole roll of course.

I actually really love«conveyer belt sushi» places. Mainly because I like to have a bunch of different rolls instead of paying $ 12 for just one roll. For the price, the sushi here is actually quite good! I hate to give low stars for such cheap food, but as others have said there was kind of a dirty feel. And the cooked rolls are way better than some that have sat out. I mean I really don’t have many complaints. I spent $ 10 and got to eat 5 different rolls! I’ll probably be back when I’m in the mood for a quick sushi lunch but I wouldn’t come here on a sushi date. Bottom line is this place is definitely worth a try if you want some cheap & quick sushi because the rolls really are good.

At $ 2 a pop, you can eat light or pig out at your discretion. I decided to pig out! A place like this is perfect for when you don’t want to commit to ordering a whole roll and try out some different things. While I don’t remember what all exactly I ate, the standout for me was the Philly roll with cream cheese and smoked salmon. I’m pretty sure I grabbed a California Roll, some spicy tuna rolls, some Philly Rolls, and one or two others. The fried things– no. Not good, sorry. The rolls were reasonably fresh and good. It isn’t high end, but it is perfectly edible and pretty good.

Quick meal. Tastes good but isn’t the highest grade of fish. Watch out, the sushi chef handed us and a couple other tables a small plate of sushi. Thought it was on the house. Nope. Charged us

Fresh, delicious and affordable sushi! The servers are on point, my water keeps getting refilled and I swear the woman is a ninja because I haven’t seen her! The fried Vegas rolls are PHENOMENAL! Come here. Make your tummy happy!

WARING!!! If you are planning on turning off a date or spending all evening with stomach cramps and spewing all night this is the place for you. The food sits out on a belt that rotates and isn’t kept cool, leaving the food to get warm, dry and full of harmful bacteria. When I asked how long chicken had been on the belt the guy was unsure and said about two hours. The albacore they brought me was dried up and rubbery. Our entire table was horrified. We quickly stopped eating and took a quick exit out. Only one of us is sick and one with a sour stomach. For your health, please do not eat here. Thank goodness for pizza or we would have starved.

The trick with this place is timing. If it’s busy, your experience will be a lot better than if it’s not. Obviously the more people there are the faster the belt is emptied and the fresher the food is. Don’t go here when it’s quiet and expect everything on the belt to be fresh. Personally I’d avoid this place if it’s empty. Also, you can order things off their menu, and most of those things are still 2 bucks. So if you’re looking for freshness they’ll make it right in front of your face for the same price as the not so fresh things on the conveyor. As far as quality goes, you get what you pay for. This is not some 5 star sushi place. It’s better than the pre-made garbage they have in grocery stores and I wouldn’t pay more per plate than 2 bucks. If you want a burger you’ll go get fast food, if you want cheap sushi, you’ll probably end up here. Don’t expect this place to offer you sushi miracles for 2 bucks.

The 1 star is for the conveyor belt. The sushi is ok and the service is sad, poor and pathetic. 1st time here and last.

This is the best sushi place in Eugene for the price! This place has the best prices and even though it is greatly centered at the college students it is absolutely amazing. I love the Vegas roll and the Oregon roll. The chefs will make you whatever you want and are very friendly! I have never had a bad experience here in my 5+ times coming here! Definitely worth a try!

Sushi belt places are there to give you cheap food, and plenty of it, without pretense or high expectations. They are the Japanese equivalent of the buffet table. I’m not much for buffets, mostly because the food is usually not very good. This place has attracted lots of attention since it opened earlier this year because of its across the board $ 2 plates, making it easy to figure out your bill and eat just as much or as little as you want. All of the drawbacks of the conveyor belt are here too, sorry to say. DLW and I are big fans of Japanese food in general, and we finally made it here for Friday dinner. The place was mostly full at 7 pm, and all of the bar seats were taken, so we took a table. The waitress said we could order from the menu or pull dishes off the belt at our convenience. We opted to position ourselves at a corner, out of other people’s way, and inspect the belt fare. It was pretty much what we expected: rolls, nigiri, tempura, and a few dessert items. We took a selection of items back to the table and noshed them with a little sake. My advice: stick with the sushi, avoid fried items. We were disappointed with the gyoza fried tempura style, and the pork cutlet, both obviously past their prime. Squid nigiri was also a letdown, because I love squid, and this one was flavorless. Surf clam was better, and everything we had with salmon was pretty good — roll, nigiri and poke. Rice was a weak link, as it usually is at places like this. It lost its integrity in the sushi, and turned hard when spread on a plate under the tonkatsu. If you really want sushi at lunch and don’t have a lot of time, maybe this makes sense. As a dinner option, I just don’t see it.

I was so excited to learn that another sushi bar was opening downtown, but good lord is this place awful. My boyfriend and I came here on a Saturday afternoon with a serious sushi craving. The first thing I noticed was that the tables were all filthy, and there were flies everywhere. We sat at the bar and took one plate of Sake Salmon Nigiri and one plate of what I believe was supposed to be a Rainbow Roll. The Nigiri was fine, but it tasted like it had been sitting out for awhile and had lost its freshness. The Rainbow Roll was even worse – we didn’t even finish it. With sushi, you really do get what you pay for. Ironically, the cashier tried to charge us $ 5 more than our actual bill. Sushi Station has an amazing revolving bar for its Happy Hour prices – I’m not a huge Sushi Station fan, but I’d recommend them over this place anyday.

I went out to this place last week! I wasn’t sure what to expect and was pleasantly surprised. The seafood was very fresh! The prices were excellent. We sat at a booth near the conveyor belt. Once in a while the chef would put something out and we would ask him what it was. They were very friendly. We loved the Vegas Rolls! At $ 2 a plate, it was a great and fresh dinner for not much money.

I’ll start off by pre-facing the fact I have been sitting on the toilet for the last 20 minutes as I write this review. All plates on the belt are 2 dollars, namsayin? Mostly bar seating with 3 booths attached to the belt and tables surrounding the exterior. Waiters are awesome, always refilling drinks and asking if you would like any specific rolls made for you. Sushi chefs always seem to be your typical Hispanic sushi experts. Wasabi from powder and light/regular soy sauce at the bars/tables. First time I went I thought«kick ass, a new sushi belt in town that caters to my shitty caucasian palate.» My expectations lived up after gorging on California and tempura rolls. Nom nom! Second visit I thought, must have been some good shit so let’s give it a real whirl. I had some poke, surf clam, rolls with raw salmon and of course the goddess of sushi — tempura fried california goodness. Avocado rolls that passed by this visit were nearly all brown. Could you do me a 75% discount and I’ll eat all of that browncado for you? That’s where I’m contemplating on my return. On one hand this stuff is like the nectar of the gods and cheap. Then on the other hand I sit on my porcelain throne for a good while Unilocaling with the best of them for only 2 dollas’ ya’ll.

I haven’t had so much fun binge eating in a long while. While the idea of $ 2 sushi is somewhat frightening, there seemed to be a full restaurant every time I walked by Sushi 541, and no reports of death. So when the decision between burgers and sushi came up, I decided to take a chance. with my life. Sushi 541’s belt was always varied and full, and if I wanted something that I didn’t see out, all I had to do was ask the chefs, who would immediately prepare the item, and put extras out on the belt. Seeing tuna and salmon poke with grated white radish on the belt was particularly exciting to me, but I also enjoyed the spicy salmon rolls, and the abundance of fresh avocado in much of the sushi. I was impressed by the variety of plates– there were mackerel, albacore, unagi, tako, ebi, squid, scallops, fried calamari, seaweed, hamachi, tamagoyaki, tobiko, salmon roe, edamame, baked mussels, fried sweet sesame balls, moon pies(teehee), and about four million other items that fail to come to mind. The fish varied in freshness and quality(for example, the salmon was much more fresh than the mackerel), but the overall quality of the meal was pleasing. The sushi isn’t, say, Mame-quality, but it’s easily Market of Choice takeout quality. At $ 2/plate, your meal will be affordable, varied, and simple to calculate. On top of that, you’ll be able to experience the rare and cherished feeling of leaving a restaurant so full of sashimi you can barely move. :) So Eugene has too many sushi restaurants(so people say). Well, not nearly enough of them are cheap, and located downtown(!) Sushi 541 occupies both a wonderful space downtown and in my heart.
