I love this place. Sweet and patient service who will answer any questions and the food is just delicious. In addition to their regular menu, I’ve had some of the best brunch EVER from this restaurant.

I have been there a few time for their brunch which I really like. Today I took my parents and my uncle’s family there for the first time. We got there at 10:15 and 9 people were before us and we had been told it takes 45 minutes till we get the table which was cool! We got the table around 11 and it took the waiter to take our order 15 minutes! We ordered right away but despite reminding them a few times we didn’t get our food until 12! The guy who usually is at the front door apologized to us a few times and he was so nice but after waiting for about 2 hours we had to leave the restaurant hungry and disappointed! I probably never going back there!

Great food, impeccable service, nice sized dining room. The reason it doesn’t get a full 5er from me is, they never have more than 1 Cider on the menu, and the menu doesn’t change all that often. But the food they have on menu is all top notch, the wait staff is fast and curteous and the owner is always there checking up on you, looking to better your dining experience.

Still super amazing. Forgot pictures this time cause I just dug in and could not stop. Had cornflakes fried chicken with sage gravy and asparagus. This was so spectacularly delicious I could barely contain the the moaning while I chewed! Only plight I have is that I can’t eat there everyday. Cocktail was a yazi ginger peartini. This was also delicious. Hubs loved his salmon fish and chips. Kiddo got mac and cheese and a cup of tomato soup. The soup was also super yummy

Came for Sunday brunch at 11:30 and was seated in less than 10 minutes. The waitress was nice but made herself scarce. Waited a long time for good, not great, food. I normally am not an omelette person but the portobello omelette with pesto sounded so good so I tried it. It was okay but I’m not a fair judge since I don’t normally like omelettes anyway. My toast was a little too toasty and it wasn’t warm enough for my butter to melt by the time it got to me. I did like the home fries though! Overall it wasn’t a terrible experience but I’m not dying to return.

Just had to take a photo of tonight’s special — scallops my favorite seafood. Hope I can get it posted.

I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to write about one of the better restaurants in Eugene. Maybe it’s because the menu isn’t easily classified as anything but American. Maybe I just never put it in my normal rotation because the food seems somehow ordinary. That was a mistake. DLW and I have been here a few times now, and always come away satisfied. It’s a nice atmosphere in a clean, polished, somewhat anonymous strip mall. They have about 100 seats, pretty roomy for Eugene, but when they get slammed it can be quite a long wait. Sunday brunch is notoriously tough, so go early if you must. The menu is straightforward and simple: soup, salad, sandwiches, and some miscellaneous items at lunch, meat and fish at dinner. Think of it as classy pub grub. Pulled pork nachos are justifiably praised, and they make me happy. Poke is a bit of a surprise to see, but also delicious. Prices are in line with the quality. Service can be spotty, but truly good service is hard to come by anywhere here. Even when the Ducks are playing, the mood is relaxed, and no one is shouting at the TV. I like.

My family and I went here for dinner. We chose this place because it got excellent reviews and the pictures looked yummy! Unfortunately it was over priced and made all of us sick. My kids ordered the Mac and cheese and fries(fries were extra) I ordered the brisket with grits, my mom ordered tomato basil soup and side of grits. First off cheese grits had hot peppers and varies other things in it. The Mac and cheese had barely any cheese and super dry! The brisket was ok but not a good mix of flavor it had way to much in the mixture! I would not try here again. By the time we left are stomachs hurt and my daughter had to keep running to the bathroom all night! We will not be going here again and way to over priced!

Great service, food & atmosphere! The food portions are huge, enough for 2 people to split. Desserts are homemade.

Had the Fish and Chips and Chowder and was impressed. Service was great but acoustics a little loud and I can see if this place got packed it would be very loud. Tasted my one daughters Man N Cheese and it was food. This is a place worth coming back to. Place was clean, also.

My first visit for Sunday morning breakfast. Wait wasn’t to bad maybe 20 min. Owner was very polite as was the server, but the time between ordering and getting what I ordered wasn’t what I would have expected from this type of café. Food was very good as I had chicken fried and eggs. I was disappointed that when my bill came drink was $ 2.50 as it is all other restaurants. But they added a $.75 charge for refill of Arnold Palmer aka ice tea and lemonade I am giving food a yes, but services and hidden fee’s took me from a 4 to a 3. I might come back and try lunch or drinks and music on Tuesday’s.

First, let me say, I am very sad to update this review… going from 5 stars to 3. Since moving to Eugene a month and a half ago I have been to this Café at least 5 times. I enjoyed many things off of the menu, it was all delicious. My husband and I went back today to eat our favorites and try some things that we had been wanting to try… but we were very disappointed to find a large portion of their menu changed with our favorites and things we wanted to try gone(it changed a week and a half ago so they told me). Unfortunately, I was less than impressed with their new menu. While I’m sure there are some gems on their new menu, it just didn’t seem all that appealing to me. I settled for their burger with cheddar cheese and sweet potato fries. The burger was ok, nothing extraordinary about it. The sweet potatoes were delicious as always, especially with the horseradish dipping sauce. My husband had the chicken enchiladas. He said they were pretty good. We also had a slower(I think new) waitress today and introduced herself by saying«hey» and just stood there waiting for us to say something. I didn’t realize she was actually talking to us until I looked up, I thought it was another patron saying hi to the people at the table next to us. We waited a long time to order and get our drinks. Sometimes that happens, no big deal. If you go, try to sit in Ben’s section. He’s friendly and good at his job. While this café has a unique menu that I am sure has delicious items, I won’t be back for entrees any time soon. Sorry Café 440, I just can’t do it.

Duuuuuuudes! …and dudetes, of course. I gave breakfast here a shot the other day = fantastic! Right from the start(despite a 20 min wait) the experience was positive. The man who was at the door taking names was the epitome of awesome – pleasant, funny, honest. Turns out… that man is the owner. Go figure. That would explain why he was so intent upon«protecting his team». As I enjoyed my chicken fried steak… which was among the best I’ve had… I had a few occasions to chat with him and a few of his staff. I was interested in what the staff thought about the guy. The reviews were all as good as what I was seeing. The food was outstanding(keep in mind this is one dish and one trip), but seeing the commitment shown by the ownership was what really earned my repeat business. There’s no way I can see myself not supporting such a grounded local business. Several thumbs up for café 440!

You know Eugene get’s to be a place, where after while you feel as if you’ve eaten everything there is to be offered. Café 440 never feels that way. There is so much good food and a great ambiance that I will try to eat there as often as I can. I’ve always had such great service, and even through those long waits on Sunday’s, the food makes up for it all. I recently went to 440 with some friends where our wait was quite long but the owner was incredibly vocal and made sure everyone that was on the list knew when there turn was coming up. He kept apologizing to us and letting us know what was going on. Hell I’ll wait as long as you want, with that attitude! We were so appreciative of the owner and our waitress who did a wonderful job getting us what we needed. I go there for the grits and egg benedict’s. I don’t know about you all, but man their bennies are addictive! Also those grits are some of the best grits i’ve had, like ever. I like to order a side of extra crispy bacon and make bacon spoons out of them to eat my grits with. Try it sometime, you won’t regret it. I had the corn beef hash bennies with a side of grits(no bacon this time) and it was heavenly. Between the potatoes, the hash and grits I was smiling on the inside as I shamelessly stuffed my face. I’ve said it before, besides the food, it’s the people that make a great restaurant. And I have to hand it to Café 440 for keeping their wits about them when it’s hectic. I’d like to buy you all a shot. Lol.

Excellent! Food here is unique and delicious. I had the ahi tuna sandwich with black bean coconut soup. Both were fabulous, I would order both again. Hubby had the Brisket Bandito and liked it very much. Waitress was excellent and attentive, her name was Julie. Yes you may have to wait for a table especially on Friday night, but it’s worth it!

My husband and I have been to 440 a number of times. We have always enjoyed the food and speciality drinks, but the service was always so bad; the employees were rude and the service was disorganized. So we stopped going. It’s been about a year since the last time we went so we decided to give them another try. I’ll start with our original issue, the service. Our waitress was very pleasant, but the rest of the staff didn’t seem to want to be there and did a poor job of hiding it, a young man in the kitchen had on large headphones while he cooked. Pretty typical from what we experienced in the past. The food, as usual, was really good and the prices were good as well. We had the sweet potato fries(these fries are what all other sweet potato fries should aspire to be), the fried oysters, the beer cheese soup(impossible to mess up), and the peanut chicken bowl. The chicken bowl was delicious, but the serving size was a bit extreme, it’s more for two people. We also had a speciality drink, it was something with blueberry purée and huckleberry vodka. It smelled exactly like a gummy bear! It was also delicious. Since it was a Tuesday around 7:30pm it wasn’t busy. Other times we’ve been there it was busy and it didn’t seem like the service could handle it. Maybe the best time to go is a random time during midweek.

Salmon fish and chips are mighty tasty, with the salmon breaded in panko which gives it a good crunch without being greasy like other types of breading. The French fries had a nice coat to them too, giving them a solid crunch. Their house ginger ale was also refreshing, but I was surprised initially when it came out with a pinky color and chunks(assuming ginger) in it. The tuna starter was satisfying, but I think I prefer my fish not cut into cubes and rather larger pieces to enjoy. The mac n’ cheese(we added bacon) was overhyped and the local root beer just a’ight. Not overly impressed, but seems like a good place to bring parents and family to.

I was in Oregon for like 3 days. I hadn’t had seafood yet and my buddy told me to come here. I wanted scallops dammit. Upon entering, I’m told, «we’re out of scallops, and crab.» Ughhh! It’s all good though. The prosciutto-vodka prawn pasta was heavier, but delicious. The ahi poke, was seriously great. I’m a huge sushi fan, so the raw ahi was welcomed. I l also had the ahi crunch salad which I also enjoyed. Full bar, and seriously GREAT service. Our server was not over the top, just a chill guy who handled business. I wish I could remember his name so I can Facebook stalk him and learn where his children go to school. This to me, is easily a 5 star location if the simply didn’t run out of my scallops. Run scallops, run.

I say lots of things are great, and I have no regrets, but I love Café 440 in a romantic sort of way. I normally touch on staff and ambiance which is all great here, what gets me going with 440 is the FOODFOODFOOD. I’ve had the BBQ pork nachos, and they are simply the best in Eugene thus far. So much pork, guac, cheese, salsa… Amazing. I’ve had the meatloaf sandwich and their ahi salad. Both are great. The ahi is seasoned perfectly and always seared well. This last time I had their buttermilk fried chicken sandwich. It is, on my own life, the best chicken sandwich I’ve ever had. Toasted ciabatta with a buttermilk marinated fried chicken breast, a chive aioli with some pickles. It’s fantastic. I’m uploading a picture for you all to think about. Please go here. I’ve been 4 times and don’t have a single complaint. Consistent, high quality, priced well, and an original and WONDERFULLYDELICIOUS menu. I have some leftover I’m going to eat now.
