A friend and I had an early dinner at Tacovore, and we decided to stop by Red Wagon Creamery for dessert. One of our friends who lives in Eugene highly recommended this ice creamery, saying that the ice cream is hand-churned and made using local ingredients. Well, it’s always good to support local businesses, so we showed up right around 6 p.m. We didn’t know that there was a parking lot in back of Red Wagon, but we managed to find parking on street not too far away. It was hard to see the ice creamery, at first, but then I noticed the red ice cream cone and knew we had come to the right place. Since it was still early in the evening, the ice creamery wasn’t really crowded, which was nice because my friend and I could take our time. We didn’t feel rushed when deciding on our ice cream flavors, and I loved the fact that they gave you real silverware for the samples(similar to Salt & Straw). After trying two samples, my friend and I were ready to order. Great customer service, clean store and great environment. Best of all: be sure to check in on Unilocal. We got one of our mini cups for free because of the Check-In offer, and I think another check-in offer features free hot fudge on top of your ice cream. Here’s what we got: «Wandering Goat Coffee»: As soon as I got a sample of this ice cream flavor, I knew this was what I wanted to order. I didn’t even know, at the time, that Wandering Goat was the name of a local coffee company in Eugene, but that coffee ice cream was delicious(at first, I thought it was some kind of flavor made with goat’s milk … but that’s not the case). This ice cream base as rich and creamy and featured the taste and aroma of a great cup of coffee. I settled for a mini scoop(though my inner ice cream fiend wanted a small/single scoop), but that mini cup of ice cream turned out to be just enough. I loved the coffee flavor, which wasn’t overwhelming but strong enough for you to tell what it was. I would definitely order this flavor again in a heartbeat. I especially loved Red Wagon because the ice cream didn’t melt really quickly — it was creamy and solid, and I didn’t feel like I had to rush to eat it. «Hail to the Bee»: My friend got a mini scoop of this ice cream flavor and absolutely loved it. This flavor included hone, honeycomb toffee and chocolate. What a great mix! I had a bite of her ice cream flavor and loved the light but subtly sweet taste. The girl behind the counter highly recommended this flavor and I can see why — it’s definitely unique and I enjoyed the light honey flavor. It’s not overwhelming but features a slightly sweet taste, like the amount of honey you would find in a cup of tea. «Heart of Chocolate»: If I returned to Red Wagon Creamery, I would probably get a cup of this flavor. I’m a diehard chocolate fan, and this ice cream flavor is basically supposed to be like a chocolate bar. I can’t wait to taste it one day! «Not-So-Plain-Jane Vanilla»: Once in a while, I crave vanilla, and this vanilla flavor sounds really promising. I love the taste of vanilla beans, and this ice cream flavor is made with bourbon vanilla beans(locally grown). If there’s an option to get some kind of swirl, I would probably want to get this flavor with a chocolaty one, but I definitely want to sample it during my next visit.

I have been wanting to try this place ever since we moved here. I LOVE ice cream. It is one of my favorite things. Finally I got the chance to go and I was very pleased! At first I was a little disappointed because we came pretty late on a Saturday and they ran out of the two flavors I wanted to try. But that didn’t stop me, I tried the«not so plain Jane vanilla» and the«Oregon mint chip». The vanilla was very creamy, but didn’t wow me as I am not a vanilla person. The mint chip was great! It had real mint flavor, not artificial tasting. I also tried a bite of the«smoked salt caramel» and that one was REALLY good. I wish I had got two scoops of that! We did also end up going to Market of Choice to get the small pints of Red Wagon ice cream they sell because I still really wanted to try the chocolate and honey one. Both were fantastic of course! Overall I love that their ice cream really does taste homemade and fresh. Much better than your average ice cream. I think my final vote would be that the smoked salt caramel was the best flavor! I’ll definitely be back for some.

Went to the Oregon truffle festival where I was able to sample the truffle white chocolate with roasted garlic. It was the best interesting ice cream I have ever tasted. Yum yum. I would buy a gallon of it if I could. The guy that served us at the event was such a sweet heart! I love the ice cream here so me and the beau went to the actual store to try more. They have some psychedelic combinations of ice cream. I was feeling normal today and ordered a single scoop of the Oregon mint. It did not disappoint :) try that or if you’re feeling more risky go for the twists.
