What the HECK did I just eat? I’m pretty sure Chef Boyardee made my vindaloo, and the saag paneer is something the Gerber baby spit up last week or so. The lamb curry, if that was lamb, lacked curry, but did not seem to lack ketchup. The icing on the cake – (oh god, so glad i didn’t order dessert) – is that everyone in my house is running to the bathroom after dinner. WEDON’T HAVETHATMANYBATHROOMS, GUYS.

I came here with low expectations but ended up loving it all! The service was outstanding, they were extremely accommodating about the modification to my order and the chutneys and nan were so yummy! My daughter and I ordered the chicken Makhni minus the cashews and raisins. My other daughter had tandoori chicken and her friend, the tikka Marsala. Yummy!!! I will be back.

It was Christmas Eve, my stomach hurt and I didn’t feel like eating anything. We were driving around town and my husband and I kept seeing this place, on other days; so we both felt the need to finally try them out. There were a ton of vegetarian options; whereas the other place in town(evergreen?) didn’t seem to have anything we could eat. We were so happy to find this diamond in the city. Not only does this place look magical(I can’t believe no one has taken pictures of the place yet) but the food was amazing, the naan was better than half the places I’ve been to and the most important part is that the complex mixture of spices and vegetables actually healed my body, mind and soul! :) We’ll definitely be back.

So delicious. This is my new favorite… wonderful flavor, good selection, attentive and polite servers.

I don’t eat Indian food often, but the medium Chicken Tikki Masala, naan, and mango lassi to drink was perfect. Just the right about of spice without draining out the incredible flavor. Chicken was well cooked and the lassi helped take away the edge of anything that got too spicy!

My boyfriend and I just shared a great experience here tonight — the service was excellent and we each ate some of the best meals we’ve had in Eugene. I had the Vegetable Tikka Masala and we shared fried cheese fritters and garlic naan and the flavors blew me away. I’ll definitely be back!

Best Indian food I’ve had, ever. The saag paneer and vegetable samosas are our fav. Fresh and flavorful every time. Evergreen doesn’t even compare! The girls who work there are lovely too. My husband and I have been going there together for over 6 years and they are always welcoming and even remember our order. We love Taste of India!

Ordered pick up here and ended up being fed items from the buffet that had shut down earlier in the day. I went back a couple years later to see if it would be any better ordering in, and it wasn’t. It’s too bad as I love Indian food and it’s sad to have such an overpriced and poorly prepared option in walking distance.

***DON’T RECOMMENDIFYOUAREWITHKIDS&FAMILY****** We came on long weekend with family and were very very much disappointed. we had to wait 1.5 hr for the food to arrive. The phone reservation is pointless as front desk/manager don’t even write or note the reservations down. No stars if there were an option like that! !

I really enjoyed the food here. Without going on a limb, I would say the best Indian food in Eugene. I love spicy and this is the first place that listened to me when I said Asian spicy when ordering their Tandoori Chicken. The owner was pleasant and the atmosphere was unique. I will visit again. Go here, then watch Three Idiots. It’s a wonderful Indian film that will make you laugh and cry at the same time.

Needing to satisfy a week-long craving for some Indian food, I knew it was time to check Unilocal!to check what Indian restaurants Eugene had to offer. Seeing that there were only a couple in the whole city, I didn’t have high expectations. Taste of India reviewed well enough, though, so I gave it a try. Overall, I was not disappointed! I’ll start with the service. I ordered takeout online through Eat 24(check online for coupons – I got $ 2 off my order over $ 10!). After my order was placed, I was notified my order could take between 15 and 35 minutes to be ready. Since I live in West Eugene, it was a bit of a jaunt, so I left as soon as I placed my order. When I got to the restaurant, I went up to the counter to see how much longer my order would be. The gal couldn’t really give me an answer and had trouble finding my order. She told me to have a seat, though, and assured me it wouldn’t be too long. She wasn’t the friendliest, but I chalk that up to the mound of orders it seemed she was juggling. I ended up waiting about 25 minutes for my order, in addition to the time it took to actually drive there. When my food was finally ready, another girl brought it to me and apologized profusely for the slight confusion – this apparently was their very first order through Eat 24, so they weren’t sure how the whole system worked yet. She was very friendly, and made sure I had what I had ordered. Everything was correct! I think things will run a little more smoothly with their next Eat 24 orders. Now, for the food. When I got home, I opened my box of chicken tikka masala and was in heaven. The aroma of all the yummy, warm spices immediately hit me, and I quickly grabbed a spoon to taste the delicious looking sauce. It was to die for! The chicken itself was pretty good, but a tad on the dry side(it’s all boneless white meat chicken, so it wasn’t all that surprising). There were also only six small chunks of chicken; the majority of the small takeout box was just sauce. I definitely recommend picking up a lot of naan to sop up every bit of the yummy sauce that’s left over if you order the chicken tikka masala. Long story short, my only gripes were the length of time it took to get my order, the small portion sizes, and the high prices for those portions. That said, the quality of the food made up for the high cost/small portion size issue. I’d recommend Taste of India if you’re in Eugene and craving good Indian food!

The restaurant and it’s location certainly make you think twice before you enter. The inside is warm and comfortable if you don’t mind the fact that it old and tired. The staff is friendly, all one of her, and the food is good… why people think it is the best of Eugene, I’m not sure. The chicken is the best I’ve had, but the rest of the food is unimaginative, «runny», I guess theway it is supposed to be. The variety is just not there… so, as far as a «buffet» goes, it is overstated.

Classic N. India Punjabi fare! Went here for dinner w/a friend and was quite busy. We shared a appetizer that came w/samosa, pakora, and poppadom and we also shared a mixed vegetable curry w/rice. Great food and service. I last had their buffet more than a dozen years ago, so will have to come back for their buffet. My only complaint as vegan or strict vegetarian is more vegetarian dishes on the buffet. That goes for Taste of India as well as Evergreen. That’s one thing I miss about India is the plethora of pure vegetarian restaurants throughout the sub-continent yet while in Eugene Taste of India and Evergreen is what we got!

Ordered online via Hungary Ducks. The portions of chicken were ridiculously small, not worth the 12 or so dollars they charged. I felt hugely ripped off like they gave us only one portion and wrote two on the box. Not that it mattered, found an extra long hair in it… The Dal was completely watered down and I wasn’t sure if they had used frozen veggies in it. I’ll never order again.

I remember when Taste of India opened up way back in in 1995 and it was the hot new place to be. My parents and I frequented the restaurant regularly. I would say they are one of the only Indian food establishments in Eugene which is a shame, for I love love Indian food. Taste of India has been a long time supporter and vendor participant at the Asian Celebration almost every year. I’d have to say that my go to dish, and all time favorite is the chicken saag with rice and garlic naan. It’s my happy place for reals. The chicken saag is so creamy with a lovely aromatic and when combined with the spicy mint sauce, it is truly heavenly. I love that one piece of naan is bigger than my head, I mean it’s huge! They do not skimp on the naan. I also love their tandoori chicken as well as their tikka masala chicken. I wish their mint sauce was spicier, but maybe that’s just the way they make it. The pappadam is also another favorite, and I’m not sure why… just have a soft spot for that crunchy, crispy cracker. The interior is lovely, a bit of an interesting layout. The huge sprawling tree that dominates the middle of the restaurant was actually the reason the owner’s purchased he building back in 1994. They bring someone in every year to maintain the visual components of the tree. In case anyone is wondering, the website for the restaurant is currently under maintenance but will be back up soon. Thanks to Tast of India for maintaining such a quality business in Eugene!

Taste of India is the best Indian food outside of Berkley I’ve ever had. A good selection of nan and various vegetarian options. The dinner platters are spendy but allow you to try different options of Indian food in order to find what you might like if you’re new to Indian food. The Shrimp Koorma is similar to Panang curry and is incredible with Kabuli nan.

I’m now a hugh fan of Indian food after eating at Taste of India! The Indian food I’ve had in past was just okay & very bland. I feel like I’ve been cheated since I stayed away from Indian food thinking it was just okay & not something I wanted to try again. My friends suggested Taste of India said I needed to give Indian food another try & I wouldn’t be disappointed. They were totally right! I had to apologize for being so loud while I was eating. I could not hold back of how much I was loving everything. It felt like my taste buds had been in hibernation & came alive from spices & so much flavor. I had no idea! I should’ve done the buffet since I ate from everyone’s plate at our table & couldn’t get enough. Again, I had to apologize to my friends for being somewhat embarrassing during our meal. I loved it so much, Indian food is now one of my top fav foods! So thankful I gave it another try.

The buffet is one of my favorite things that I’ve discovered in Eugene. Several months back when I first moved to town, we were all craving Indian food and decided to give this place a try– we weren’t disappointed. Though the buffet options are maybe a little limited, they’re really good. What makes it better is the price; you’re not paying novelty prices here, unlike with some restaurants I’ve been to.

The lunch buffet may be good but beware the dinner buffet. I think the food was just leftover from lunch. We ate dinner about 6pm. At about midnight we both got sick. Since neither one of us had eaten anything else after that we assumed it was this place that gave us food poisoning. If the food is as good as everyone says, then order fresh from the menu but avoid the dinner buffet

This place is passable but unremarkable northern Indian food. The Sunday brunch buffet looked okay, but we decided to order from the menu to get a better idea of the place. Our veggie assortment appetizer came without the advertised pappadum with no explanation from the server. Pakora and samosa were both pretty good however, and the chutneys were nice. Chicken tikka masala is one of my all-time favorite dishes, and yes, I know it’s not really Indian, but people expect it at places like this, and they have it. The sauce is very thick and coconut heavy, so if you like that, it’s the dish for you. I still prefer my DLW’s version, heavier on tomato and pepper. Naan and rice were just okay. Mango lassi hit the spot. The menu is huge, but most people seem to eat from the buffet, at least at lunchtime. It will do for a quick midday meal or snack, but I want something better for dinner.
