Pros: — Decent prices — Good location — Benches are comfy — Karaōke nights are fun — Have places to plug in laptops, and free wi-fi — Good coffee — Good other drinks — Chill about people using whatever door — Good music — Nice outdoor seating — Friendly staff that also keeps out of the way, e.g. not annoying — Chill about people holding large, unannounced meetings which blows my mind Cons: — Those light blue-green metal chairs are HORRIBLY uncomfortable for people with average to large sized butts — People like to camp out with their laptops and make it where there’s nowhere socially acceptable and comfortable to sit and just chill — Plugs for laptops are in a really weird place, and pointing down and at an angle, and force you to go on a weird hunt under the table for them — Pretty small, and the actions of others can easily get in your way — The number of people here and what’s going on will influence your entire experience. Sometimes it’s quiet and chill, other times it’s loud and packed — it all just depends — If the hipster aesthetic bothers you, this will be your personal hell Summary: Not my favorite place, but everyone likes to meet here. It’s a lot better when there’s less people around and they’ve got some sweet jams playing. Otherwise, I start to feel really out of place and uncomfortable. I’m not really sure why. The staff is great and the food is great and it’s clean. It’s all in the seating and programming of the space, I think.

We decided to try a new to us lunch spot today. I am really glad we did. I like that it was a tea/coffee house, /bar. We had coffee, and mint tea with our lunch. He went with one of the breakfast sandwiches, and I had the salad with the maple vinaigrette dressing and, the mug o pot roast. And you bet I added that mug o roast to my salad! When I make a roast at home I look forward to left overs so I can have it with salads. The salad and pot roast from here is excellent! I like the décor on the walls which has a nostalgic feel, and I love that they have a foos ball table, and shuffleboard table. We played a little after we ate so I could finish my pot of tea. As we were there I wondered if they had good Bloody Mary’s. Which the only way to find out… I guess go back and get the yummy salad and mug o pot roast. I see they have other great food on the menu but I am limited on what I order because I don’t eat bread anymore. Sad for me, lucky for you guys. Everything looked and sounded great!

I live and work in downtown Eugene and frankly I don’t know how I missed this place! I stayed home today feeling sick and I rarely have time to shop properly so needless to say I wasn’t prepared to be home all day without any thing to eat. Naturally I went to Cascadia Courier Collective and saw The Barn Light’s Menu. I thought I’ve never heard of this place let’s give them a try, as you can imagine I am quite over most of the food downtown. Well to my surprise and delight it was an incredible meal. I had the pot roast sandwich and Brussels sprout cold salad. Every bite from the first until the savored last was perfection. The bread crispy, the gravy smooth and not over salted like most, the meat tender and simple, the veggies melted in my mouth. The Brussels sprout were unexpected and delightfully sweet and perfectly roasted. I bet they would be wonderful warm as well. On top of an extraordinarily well prepared meal, now this is important, it felt healthy and nourishing! With a portion perfect in size leaving my hunger satisfied and not feeling over full when finished! Kudos TBL I’ll definitely be returning to try other items from the menu!

Excellent breakfast, lunch and a place to stop by for a beer. Be sure to try the fantastic breakfast sausage on a biscuit or on a fine roll with egg and cheese. The beer is good the coffee is spectacular.

Fantastic! Loved the crafted cocktails and prices! Very quick service and don’t have to worry about the large college crowds. Would highly recommend going. The only down side is there are no bathrooms in the bar. You have to go thru some random doors to get to communal bathrooms with a padlock. But the bar itself is wonderful

This place is hands down the Best latte in town. Perfect espresso, perfect micro foam, and perfect temperature. I’m never disappointed. Always good atmosphere and if you fancy a bloody Mary on any morning rather than coffee they will accomodate the party. Love this place over and over. Oh and they play hip hop early b in the day!

Since there are so many cool food places in the area, my friends and I were having trouble deciding where we wanted to have dinner. The unassuming silhouette of a light being illuminated caught my attention and we had decided. At first, we were excited to seethe array of entertainment, including a shuffleboard and foosball table. Then we were charmed by the seemingly cryptic décor adorning the walls. By the time we ordered, we were utterly charmed with the rustic postcard delivery cards. But that’s where it all ended. At 8:41, my friend and I were told that they had switched over to their late night menu even though our other friends had just ordered full entrees just moments before. After some discussion and pleading, the bar tender talked to one of the cooks and ended up taking our order. We started to enjoy each others’ company and consider playing shuffleboard when one of the waiters came to our table: «I’m sorry, there was a miscommunication and that is no longer on our menu.» My two friends had been disappointed and had to settle for something else.(I think it was the Texas toast bread or something that they had discontinued.) We finally migrated to the shuffleboard and learned that it was debilitatingly slow(without a side reserve of sand) when the waitress returned: «I’m sorry, but we don’t have tomato soup.» This really upset another. When we got our food 20 minutes later, we were disappointed to find that the brussels sprouts we had been looking forward to were unexpectedly cold. Luckily, I ordered the turkey bacon avocado sandwich(called the BLT in the BLA, or something like that). Although the bun provided a generous ratio of bread to sandwich, it had a decent blend of flavors and the bacon could only be described as «big». My friend had the tuna melt which was obnoxiously cheesy and turned out to be the only hot thing at our table, besides us. On the bright side, my vegan friend was appeased by the hummus and pita plate, which was beautifully represented in a sun pattern with a hipster jar of hummus at the center. It was your standard hummus with nothing special about it, but the Lita was generous. Overall, their charming atmosphere was lackluster in light of our poor dining experience. I can recommend this place for drinks and bar snacks, but definitely not their entrees. Order at your own risk!

This is my go-to place for a first date… casual enough to not feel«over the top» and set up so you can talk and not be crammed elbow to elbow. If you get a bench outside, it’s prime. Yes, it’s hipster but that’s more so because of the crowd and not the staff. The staff is pretty rad.

I had a blast at karaōke(Thursday nights), but I was one of the oldest people there! I felt like I should have had a hipster disguise to blend in proper. So many of the song choices were ironic, and after a couple of hours the heavy irony was hard to bear. Still, there were a lot of friendly people and great voices. I loved that they had Good Life IPA on tap. The chili and cheese was tasty after four beers.

I think maybe serves the best caffe latte in town. Possibly. In any case, one of the first coffees I’ve had in the States that I felt could truly rival the Italian cappuccino. Is true that the staff can be a little sullen. Plenty of outlets for computer use. Wish they had more finely granulated sugar; the coarse stuff just doesn’t dissolve so well.

Well… I grew up in the PNW and am a lover of coffee. I live on the East coast now but was in Eugene for the weekend. I love the abundance of coffee shops there! On the East coast your only choice is Starbucks. Anyway, some ladies were showing me around town and took me here. Really cool décor and atmosphere! I had a vanilla latte and it was really good with fun foam art on top. I don’t want to give 5 stars because as others have said the staff wasn’t super friendly. Just a very flat«have a good day» when we left. She was just saying it out of obligation. I went during the morning but apparently this place turn into a bar at night? Could be cool to go back for that someday.

I love, love, love, love, love this place. Have I mentioned how much I love this place? It’s my favorite place to go and chill at when in Eugene. I go here when I just feel like getting out but not«getting my groove thing on» super chill, I can even bring my laptop and work here if I need to. Great coffee. I can even get my Irish whiskey here. Oh! and the staff are awesome! Really nice people…

Best coffee in town. I go pretty much daily. I don’t understand the anti-hipster hate. They’re all nice folks. Just don’t order a s’mores Frapacino. You’re a grown up. That’s a milkshake. If you want a milkshake get a milkshake. Coffee requires a grinder, not a blender. Oh, and if you want the special coffee they only serve to those of us with beards and flannel shirts, knock on the counter three times and say, «modest mouse has gotten so mainstream.» Then wait. If you speak they’ll know you’re a tourist.

Had a blast here with friends while coming home to Eugene for a short weekend. This is the exact type of place Eugene needs, hipster or not. A great atmosphere with excellent beer and an energetic crowd.

The Stumptown coffee is incredible, the lunch is pretty darn good, and the drinks aren’t bad at all. If you’re self conscious about«hipsters» with plaid shirts, beards, and tight jeans, lighten up. They’re nice people and the service is great, by eugene or any other standards. Sit in here in the afternoon and it’s like Cheers up in here, and the people coming in aren’t all young cool types. That coffee tho…

The Barn Light is currently my favorite spot in Eugene to grab high-quality(Stumptown) coffee in the morning, and a craft cocktail in the evening(in my case today… early afternoon). I’m a huge fan of their coffee-glazed bacon, which is fabulous on their breakfast sandwich with cheddar and an IMPOSSIBLY fluffy egg. Today however, the bacon on my TBA is overcooked and tastes burnt :(Maybe their morning chef is more skilled in the art of bacon sizzling. Sipping now: a «Freshen Up» cocktail w/house-infused cucumber vodka, ginger soda, sage bitters… very light, refreshing(obviously) and super cucumbery. I like. I have to give TBL huge props on the side salad. My salad is actually a perfect size rather than being a depressing little stack of 5 pieces of lettuce. This is a salad that takes me more than 2 bites to consume.

TWOTHUMBSDOWN!!! What a bunch of yippity yuppies AND the worst part is they’re super rude, especially the short dark haired bartender(someone needs to tell her to pull the stick out of her …) Had a horrible experience here, but I’ll spare you all the details. Let’s just say it left me with a bad taste in my mouth… If you want to be treated like trash definitely give this place a try! You won’t be disappointed! I will be calling management but from the sound of it they’re not known for their coffee or cocktails rather their speciality is horrible customer service with a side of raging biotch and a twist of passive aggressiveness. Shaken the fuck up, not stirred.

The barnlight has a sweet patio which makes for great people watching. The bartender that we ordered through was pretty unhelpful. She seemed to want to serve us even though there were no customers behind us or on the other side of the bar. The Barn Light had been recommended to us and it was our first time there. She was not helpful when we asked for drink suggestions. The drinks ended up being okay and the food was good but we went elsewhere to spend our evening after all that. A plus is that they have wifi and that it’s accessible from their patio :)

I really do find the eclectic hipster-licious aesthetic of The Barn Light to be quirkily charming. The spacious room has a nice rustic edge to it, with it’s wood interior, dimly lit lighting, and decorations consisting of a deer head, handsaws, the American flag, and various vintage signage. A variety of tables and vintage chairs decorate the main room across from a nicely sized bar which is showcases a nice selection of Bourbons, Whiskeys, Gin, Tequilla, Vodka, and more. Towards the back of the room is a Shuffleboard table and Foosball table. Background music is typically downtempo indie/alternative hits which compliments the easy going atmosphere. I typically frequent The Barn Light for late night study sessions so I’m a fan of the variety of espresso beverages they offer. However, The Barn Light is primarily known for it’s selection of various beers, available both on tap and canned. To complement your drinks, The Barn Light offers some house-made bar food such as pretzels, their Frito Pie, and Brat & Beer. Personally, I’m not a beer fanatic so I opted to try their recently updated cocktail menu. The bartender working that night was also exceptionally friendly, polite, and certainly knowledgable which made the process of selecting the right drinks, all the more fun and easy! I decided to go with the Dr. Strangelove and later, the Red Dawn. Both were made well and had nice flavors. They were not exceptionally strong but certainly made for refreshing Spring/Summer drinks. I would recommend The Barn Light to anyonel who enjoy a more mellow socializing or drinking atmosphere and of course, is a fan of beer! So, throw on those skinny jeans, favorite plaid shirt, and get on that pretzel and beer life at The Barn Light!

The Barn Light is a little bit of PDX nestled into downtown Eugene. This place has a good feel to it, a bar with a twist of coffee house if you can imagine that. We visited for about 2 hours and had a great time here. The beer selection is pretty decent. Displayed on a huge green and red board(see pic), you should be able to find something to sip on ranging from 6 different kinds of coffee, to 7 different beers and about 8 house cocktails. Not to mention, they also have a pretty vast selection of beer in cans too. I would say one of the best things about this place is they serve their drinks in Mason Jars. HAH! Yeah, I said Mason Jars. If you’re turned off by that, don’t even stop by here. I’ve drank out of Mason Jars my whole life due to having a mother who cans and jars any and everything, so for me personally it was welcoming to be able to sip my beer from those familiar glasses. Oakshire’s Spring Forth was on tap, and it was a real well balanced brew. A little malty, but plenty of hops to keep it even. I’m not sure how often they rotate their taps, they apparently had Boneyard IPA a few weeks prior, but not when we were there. Damn it! Great place to sit down after work and throw a few back.
