The ‘Wich House is far and away my favorite place to eat. Great sandwiches on daily fresh made bread. New soups every week and sometimes daily. The staff is friendly and really work at getting your food to you while it is hot and fresh. It is very saddening to me to announce to fellow Unilocalers that tomorrow, May 30th2012 will be their last day. Jeff and staff are moving on to different adventures in their lives and will be sorely missed. Now if I can just get Jeff to make book of his soup recipes… See you for a farewell lunch tomorrow at the ‘Wich House.

The food at ‘Wich House is consistently good. They always have a special, usually seasonal, but their standard fare is also solid. I like the Tomazzo ‘which(basil and tomatoes) and the Pear ‘Wich is also great as a salad. Their soups are also tasty — the potato leek is their standard and it’s tasty. The only downside is they are occasionally closed when they should be open(something they’ve been better about lately). The atmosphere is pretty dull in the restaurant, but the food is anything but. Great lunch fare downtown, I’ll be back.

They have good sandwiches. I really did enjoy them but they weren’t the best i ever had. I’ve gone back there and i’ll go again but would i call this place the best sandwich shop ever? no. They often run out of ingredients or full on sandwiches which they fail to tell you until you order them. It’s a little frustrating. But since they don’t really have any vegan options the man was very helpful with creating a whole new sandwich for me. Which i really enjoyed. Their sandwiches are pressed and they have home made bread both wheat and white. Both are really good. So if you’re craving a good sandwich then i would give this place a try. Ask for advice on what to get they’re really good at getting you the right sandwich for what you’re cravin. Then stop by voo doo donuts for a sweet treat since it’s just a block away.

Amazing food. Who gives this place one star? The carrot ginger garlic soup is the best soup I have ever had, and I’m a snob. Potato leak is great too and the half Tomato/Mozzarella sandwich & half soup is the meal of choice. 6.99 $ is breaking peoples wallets? Where are you eating? No question, FIVESTARSALLTHEWAY!!! update: They haven’t had the carrot ginger on the menu for over a year, the portion sizes have gone down and the prices have gone up. How about a non-dairy option for those of us who don’t want cheese 3 meals a day?

Absolutely amazing sandwich! This place makes me want to move to Eugene so I can eat there everyday. Great variety of unique sandwiches but I recommend the BLT.

You know when you find that one restaurant that just makes you feel better the moment you walk into it? It can turn a bad day around, and turn a good day into one of your most fondly remembered. I think, in Eugene at least, this is that restaurant for me. I just feel at-home here, and the food satisfies in the best way — playing to the basic structure of comfort food, but with enough variations on the theme to keep you guessing. For the first time in a long time, I’m genuinely excited at the prospect of a restaurant’s upcoming specials, and I have to resist the urge to endlessly interrogate the owner/chef about what he’s got planned next. Although to be fair, he probably wouldn’t mind, as he’s one of the most outgoing foodies I’ve come across and always eager to chat with his customers. This is now my lunch spot. Not just any lunch spot, THE lunch spot, the one I’ll always have in the back of my mind as I wait for my morning classes to end. And I would recommend it to anyone in Eugene.

The ‘Wich House is just plain awesome. I ate here for the first time about 3 – 4 months ago — despite having intended to months before, based on «buzz». And based on my addiction to delicious sandwiches. Since, I’ve probably hit them up at once per week. There are so many good things about the place — but my fave, is that they rotate in new sandwiches weekly, based on seasonality, and what is good locally. The«Pork Wich» is a good go to; and good first sandwich — braised pork; granny smith apples; and delicious cheese — grilled panini style. The bread is the key to the whole thing — combination flat bread; and home-made sandwich bread. Recent sandwiches, such as the butter poached mahi mahi, with fresh berries; Corned beef and cabbage wich; Leg of Lamb wich; Szechuan Steak wich; Yellowtail wich; and the roast beef(in house) with goat cheese, have been spring inspirations. Not to mention the soups — they are ALWAYS good. The standard potato leek is great, and always on the menu — but the seasonal soups are inspired. Cream of asparagus. Chicken and dumplings! Carrot ginger curry. Some kind of thai-coconut curry. It’s a weekly surprise — but whatever they are, try it! It also helps, that they are extremely nice; and service is great. It’s semi sit down — they bring you your delicious food(and water) on actual plates; and bus your tables. So, nice to recognize that and tip at the counter. And the space inside is nice — it is a tad bistro-esque; but not too fancy pants. It is just a perfect place to sit down and enjoy a delicious sandwich, and bowl of soup. The ½ sandwich and soup combo is the way to go too — some of these sandwiches beg to be paired with their soup of the day.

I spotted the ‘Wich house a few weeks back but it had been closed for business that day. I was randomly in the area around lunch time and figured today was my chance. The out and inside of the establishment has its own style– think French Bistro with an upbeat modern edge. The menu is full of inventive twists on classics and other comfort foods. I asked the cashier what were the popular sandwiches on the menu and was pointed to the Braised Pork ‘Wich. They had a Russian fish and cucumber soup of the day that sounded interesting. You can order a ½ sandwich(which was a nice size by itself) and a soup for the same price as a whole sandwich. Sounded like a great deal. You can see the individual items in the picture I uploaded: Sandwich — AWESOME. I didn’t realize it until I was ¾ths of the way through the sandwich that it was missing the granny smith apples. I think they would have elevated it to an even greater level(guessing they go on raw) — adding a sweetness and textural crunch to the mix. Regardless, tender pork topped with feta that was soft and gooey along with a greens mix all enclosed between two slices of fresh baked white bread and pressed on a grill like a panini– absolutely superb. Soup– Good(but not as good as the sandwich). Was an interesting mix of small chunks of fish, cucumber, and greek olives, with prominent dill notes. As you can see from the picture, the soup had a lot of fat floating on top which probably should have been skimmed off before serving. It was an interesting and nice counterpoint to the sandwich(and warming on this overcast«summer» day). $ 6.99 for an inventive sandwich and soup is a great deal. I definitely plan on being back to taste some more things off their menu.

Wich House offers grilled sandwiches, a couple soups, and some nice beverages, including local beer on tap. I had a caprese style tomato mozz sandwich. It was tasty. I think its nice that the bread is made in house too. Soup was also tasty and complementary. I think WH is one of a few good options for downtown lunch. Keep ‘em coming!

My a cappella group went here before a competition at the Hult Center. AMAZING!!! We were there at around 1 in the afternoon, and there was only one other person inside. The waitress was very friendly and helped us make our choices – I ended up getting a roast lamb sandwich with mashed potatoes(yes, IN the sandwich) and a side of brie and pear salad with lemon vinaigrette. The sandwich was… unbelievable. I couldn’t stop smiling while I was eating it. My boyfriend got a bowl of corn and lobster chowder, which was more watery than I expected but tasted amazing. I wish I were from Oregon… I would come to this place all the time!

I hope their sandwiches(which they are apparently heralded for) are better than their biscuits and gravy. The dish was rather uninspired, and at $ 4 for a half order, I was expecting something a little beyond«meh». The floor was dirty, and I just had the feeling I was hanging out in someones man cave, not a restaurant. Neither the biscuits or the gravy truly tasted homemade, more like B&G you could get at Dari-Mart for half the price. Maybe I got the day old stuff? I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and check out the sammies sometime in the near future. Not that they need it a higher rating, according to Unilocalers this place has it figured out that bread+meat+condiment= delicious.

Killer sandwiches. Tragedy for the wallet. I’d go here more often if it didn’t require drawing on a home equity line before going out to lunch. Free WiFi from the LCOG office across the street.

The staff were very friendly for my first venture into this restaurant, explaining how they make everything from scratch(except the cheese). I had the potato leek soup — which was good — and half a tomato/mozzarella sandwich — also very good. great bread. The presentation of the meal wasn’t so stellar.(Half a sandwich on a big plate) But everything tasted great. I’ll definitely return to try other things off the menu.

I love the food, it is absolutely delicious. I am addicted to the tomazz’wich and the potato leek soup. The price isn’t bad, either. Very fast for take-out and a nice eat-in area as well. The only thing they could improve on in my opinion, is the presentation.

So my band was on tour and we had a stop in Eugene. We had to take the van to the Firestone, so I grabbed my longboard and scooted around downtown Eugene. Ran into this spot and was very intrigued by the menu. They had so many sandwiches that sounded different and exciting. The guy behind the counter was very helpful in helping me make my selection, which was the braised pork with granny apples. It was a very delicious sandwich. Very unique. It’s rare that I give 5 stars to a place I’ve only been to once, but it’s rare that a sandwich shop has a chef instead of a cook and it’s also rare that a sandwich shop has beer and wine(and it’s good beer, too). I very much wish The Wich House was in downtown Seattle so I could try all their sandwiches! But alas, I guess this means I’ll have to make sure the band makes a stop in Eugene everytime we tour.

Dang, I had a delicious pot roast ‘wich here. Only problem was that I left hungry(not enough food per plate) with an wallet empty(its expensive). The staff was very friendly though.

My initial experience with the Wich House set me up to enjoy one of the best sandwiches I have eaten in years! It was a beautiful spring afternoon in Eugene, my partner and I walked by a small, nondescript shop with a couple people sitting at a table outside and we decided to look at the menu. To our surprise, the cook/manager/all-around-sandwich-guru was amongst the people sitting outside and he happily told us about his shop and their menu. Us, being vegetarians, inquired about what options we may enjoy — the Wich house always has seasonally-inspired vegetarian options, usually changing every week. He sold me big time on the asparagus sandwich and we ordered a pint. This was the BEST sandwich i have eaten in years. Perfectly cooked and marinated asparagus coupled with fresh sprouts and a delicious spread(the ingredients escape me) found themselves neatly bound between two fresh house-made pieces of whole-wheat bread. After the first bite, all i could do was take another. The sandwich was reasonably priced for a local,(and in my opinion) perfectly designed bite to eat at 7 $. As well, two«budget» items are always found on the menu — typically classic foods such as BLTs and a soup, but with a freshly-made nuance that makes a 4 $ budget menu seem not-so-constricting. We will definitely be back at every chance we get, awaiting the next new, creative special that the Wich House can throw our way.

This downtown establishment has been serving up tasty grub for about a year and a half, but I’ve only just visited it today. During a Saturday afternoon stroll downtown, the munchies started to hit. I remembered reading the reviews of The ‘wich House on Unilocal and we decided to try it out. Lucky for us, they are open a little later on Saturday, until 5 pm. The employees(I’m guessing the owners) were incredibly nice. When we walked up to the counter, they asked if it was our first time here. It was, so they explained that they make everything besides the cheese in house from scratch. They make all the bread and even roast the meats and cure their own ham. It was obvious that they were passionate about the food that they serve. We ordered the special, a catfish sandwich, to share between the two of us($ 7.99). I also ordered a cup of their hot mulled cider(2 bucks). Everything was really delicious. I really enjoyed the sandwich and the cider was great as well. I’ll be back sometime soon to try out their Ahi ‘wich: seared sashimi grade fish with avocado, greens and a wasabi vinaigrette. The best part in my mind, though, was the service. They went ahead and hooked each of us up with a side of soup(one potato leek and one special minestrone type soup with pesto) which was awesome and unexpected. My cider got topped off because they were running low and didn’t have enough left for another full serving. A jazzy rendition of Katy Perry’s «I Kissed a Girl» sang by a male vocalist came on as we were finishing up. That pretty much sealed the deal.
