One of the best(and smallest) breakfast places in Humboldt County! They have all the standard breakfast fixings and each one is delicious.

Excellent food and service! And water was brought to my table IMMEDIATELY when I sat down; the way it SHOULD be!

Great service, great coffee, and definitely a million omelet concoctions possible. I think they had two pages devoted just to omelets! Just a sweet little place that deserves a visit.

Fantastic food, great service, in a homey diner. We had the jalapeño omelette and banana crepes, both were delicious and left us wishing we had discovered this place earlier in our visit. Highly recommended for a hearty and tasty meal!

I chose this place for breakfast because the reviews seemed to agree that it was a decent spot for breakfast. Yeah, not so much. Hash browns were shredded potatoes(expected). NO flavor. There wasn’t even salt, or pepper or even the flavor of the oil in which they were fried on the griddle. Just blander than bland. They were somewhat crispy outside but otherwise, super soft and textureless — like they had been boiled before they were shredded and then made the trip to the griddle. Chicken Fried Steak was OK, not too much breading and the gravy was a good basic milk gravy. But again, meh. No characteristic flavor to make it stand out, just floured meat with gravy. The eggs, decent. I asked for scrambled with cheese and they were actually properly cooked. They were not overcooked and rubbery, nor were they undercooked and slimy. There was no seasoning on the eggs either, just the eggs and cheese. Normally, I do not add salt, pepper or any other condiment to a meal if it stands on its own. On occasion, I may like steak sauce or something on the side as a compliment to the occasional bite. I found myself with a salt and pepper shaker in hand for each bite, to ensure that there was at least SOME flavor. I did not finish the meal, it just wasn’t worth the effort and honestly, I felt bad taking up a four-spot table by myself when folks who might actually enjoy their meal were waiting. I did, however, eat enough to sustain my expected efforts for the day. The restaurant dining area is very small. and the tables are really tight. One has to slide around other patrons to get to any one of the 10 or 11 table sets they had in there. People WERE lined up outside to get in shortly after my arrival and were still coming when I left. As I was waiting at the register to pay, I asked one hostess if it was always that busy and she didn’t skip a beat to reply«Yes!» as she rushed off to attend to a customer’s needs. The service was courteous, quick and the wait staff was attentive and friendly. This was first impression. I will give it another chance, at a different meal time. I will return to update if my impression is adjusted in some way.

Loved this place. I had chicken fried steak(tasted like steak not breading) and eggs with hash browns(super crispy outside soft inside). Gravy had good flavor. He had an omelette that he enjoyed and pancakes. Pancakes tasted like something you’d make at home. Service super friendly and food came quickly

Wholly huge omelets and pancakes batman! The food and service at this spot were great, too much food to possibly finish. Check it out build your own omelet and get pancakes on the side!

The service was friendly and attentive. I ordered the an spinach omelette and my sister got the eggs Benedict, both came smothered in a terrible(canned or powdered?) hollandaise sauce. If you stay away from the hollandaise, the food was good and the servings generous. I was also warned off the canned asparagus by our waiter.

Fast friendly service with an extensive menu. Definitely something for everyone! Plenty of parking, kid friendly atmosphere. The initial greet was slow but my order was delivered in under five minutes so overall quick!

This is one of the two best lunch places in Eureka(the other is the Golden Harvest). We love the Chalet, but it’s a small place and sometimes we don’t feel like waiting. My wife prefers the Chalet because they have crepes, so we tend to favor the Chalet(I’m no dummy). Owner Bill is planning to open another«Chalet» nearer where we live — c’mon, Bill, lets get that place opened for business.

Crowded. Don’t go at popular times. While the fillings were good, the eggs were not cooked properly for my taste: soft, fresh, gently cooked at low temperature, and fresh. Several places including one downtown, have much better eggs. The other time I went and had a sandwich, it was marginally better. The service is very good and I liked our waitresses both times. Basically, I got way too many calories crammed on the plate. I don’t need all that food with lots of fats and starches and no great flavors. Rather cook at home.

A cozy place that looks like your grandma’s dining room. Friendly staff, quick service and yummy breakfast. The combinations are really good. I got the western omelette with pancakes – perfect! Great value for your money.

So good, I came here twice! Best diner in Eureka. I was in town for a few days and came here for breakfast before hiking the redwoods. On our first visit, my girlfriend and I shared a breakfast burrito and an omelette. The omelette was good, but the breakfast burrito was better! Its basically an omelette packed into a tortilla with some sauce. Yummm. If you want scrambled eggs or an omelette, go for the burrito! On our second visit, we shared the sunrise eggs benedict(eggs w turkey avocado and tomato), and corned beef hash with country potatoes. This meal was better than the last. The sunrise eggs benedict was filling and delicious. I cleaned the plate. The helping of hollandaise sauce was generous and made me wish i was still hungry so i could order more. I asked for a soft egg and I got exactly that. You must try it. The corned beef hash was good as well, tastes like home cooking. The country potatoes are battered and fried perfectly. The coffee tasted like standard diner coffee, drink it black(my preference) or add one of their various creamers. The customer service was spot on. Every employee looked genuinely happy to be there, and their positive energy truly made Chalets a place worth visiting again and again.

The only thing I dislike about the Chalet is how far away it is from my house in LA. This small, unassuming jaunt, is everything you could want and need in a breakfast spot. Picture this, it’s got the feeling of grandma’s house. Outdated, lace accents, small and kind of mothball chic. You can tell the clientele have been regulars for years. There’s a real sense of community about this place. Not only that but they decorated for halloween. What’s not to love? But what makes this place special, is the food itself. Nice portions, fresh tasting and a good mixture of both classic and creative fare. My chorizo omelette was fluffy, rich, but not overwhelmingly so. If I could, I would come here every day. I loved it that much.

A good breakfast place. Been here a few times now and the food is consistent, hot, fresh and tasty. There is an extensive menu for a breakfast restaurant, and you can get pretty much anything you want — but they are known for their omelettes and the portions are large. This is a small establishment with limited parking and tight access — right on the 101 as you are heading north out of town at the V street exchange. The place fills up very quickly on the weekends, so if you are not there by about 9;15ish — you can expect a wait. The servers and staff are all friendly and kind, and know their environment and move folks in and out of tables as smoothly as they can but folks tend to sit a bit and visit. Our last trip, we arrived ahead of the crowd by about 5 minutes — the same always friendly service and we were seated immediately. The usual friendly coffee round as we sat with water and menus — she gave us a couples minutes and returned. The place is literally filling to capacity while we are ordering — glad to be ahead of the curve… we order, and about 15 minutes give or take our piping hot to order breakfasts appear. My wife said her omelette was just as she ordered and the eggs fluffy and seasoned well — just the way she wanted it to be. As for myself, I’m more of a eggs and biscuits and gravy person — which is exactly what I ordered. This place may be known for their omelettes — but their biscuits and gravy is rockin! I order it every time I’ve been here and its consistently great — some of the best around. A short order is a huge side to go with an omelette or eggs even and a full order is a meal. Highly recommended. Strong coffee, consistent good food, fast friendly service and a fair value — pretty much what I look for in a breakfast eatery. All in all a solid 4 stars. 152
