So, I went here yesterday with my parents. They have been here before so felt confident it would be a treat. I had the prime rib sandwiche. It was just«ok»… A little too dry for my taste but edible. The big issue was my moms dinner. She ordered the two piece chicken dinner and asked for all white meat. They brought her dinner with a thigh and leg(not sure they know what white meat is?). Strike one. She brought it to their attention so they swept up her plate to fix it. Meanwhile, my dad and I have our food. Finally, they bring out the second plate. A breast and wing. My mom splits open the breast and it is totally raw in the middle. Strike two. She told them, so this time, in order to not leave her«food-less», they took the raw breast. She told them«never mind on the breast, just bring whatever they can get cooked in a sufficient amount of time.» Meanwhile, my dad and I are finishing our dinner. By the time they returned with a couple of wings for her we needed to leave and she just asked them to package it to go. Since my parents had been here before and apparently liked the place then, I assumed my moms dinner would not be on the bill. Wrongo. There it was. Full price. Completely unprofessional. I couldn’t believe it. When my dad went to pay the bill he asked for a manager and was told there was not one there that day. Ok. It was Sunday. That’s fine. But if you do not have managers on a given day you really need to empower your employees to credit a customer who received a really bad meal. I mean seriously. Strike three. I won’t be back. Bad form. And the food was less than stellar. Edible at best. Well, unless you were my mom and got served raw chicken. Then. Not so much.

Had the Friday special of fish tacos. They weren’t too bad but they weren’t really great. In my opinion there were too many onions. The cod wasn’t too bad either. I just like mine a little more crispier in tacos. My son got wings and wasn’t too impressed, and he’s a real chicken wing fan. Although, we both liked the jalapeño hush puppies. Maybe there are better options we haven’t tried. There is a playground outside so it is really a great spot for parents who want to grab a beer and let the kids run around.

Food is great… if your not looking for anything healthy. The service needs some work because they were not very clock conscious. The staff in the food service area was not friendly at all. I do have to say that every time I have gotten food it has been good.

Pretty good. I’ve been going to this place since child hood. You must be looking for something fried though. It’s definitely not the place for healthy options! Their fried cod is great, and their hush puppies are some of the best I’ve ever had.

I went here tonight for about the third time. While the service is by no means speedy and the atmosphere is certainly something I have never experienced anywhere else(I often feel as if I am inside someone’s very compartmentalized house), the food is good. I recommend getting the fried chicken with seasoned fries. Add in some hot sauce to your chicken, and you are in for a good meal. The cod is also decent. The food is inexpensive, and the service is friendly. It hasn’t been around for so long because of luck.

St. Patty’s day is the best bet here. Completely packed. Good place to meet and have a bunch of people eat in a nice casual atmosphere. New outside bar works well but the food is not the best. This place is all about it’s location. Every Friday they have a car show that ads to the good atmosphere. Tue-Thur discount for military Their wings are full wings that are about the size of the plate.

Having personally worked their I can not recommended this place for food its food preparation and quality is extremely poor. If you want a beer this is not necessarily a bad place for that.

Ordered the fish to go by the lb. excellent. Great place for groups. Bar is whats a disappointment. Lack of experience mixing drinks using the correct glass and just serving. Better bar tending would raise to a 4 or 5.

The Dandy Inn I think has about the best fried fish around! I have ordered from there on a number of occasions and it has always been great and the homemade tarter sauce makes it even better. I have also ate the wings, pizza, chili cheese dog and frog legs which they are all very good and fresh. They also have a great outside area to eat or have a drink and its all a pretty good place to stop in no matter what you want to do.

Came here for a Sunday evening diner with a friend who really wanted a cold beer, and things were pretty good overall. The atmosphere is a bit eclectic. There is the small bar in the front of the building, an enclosed patio/sunroof type area, and then a lot of outdoor seating.(Remember, no smoking inside in IL.) Outside there is even a playground. The menu consisted of pub grub. More real food options than most bars offer. And they have Killian’s Irish Red and Guiness on tap. Service is non-existent, there is no wait staff. Food is ordered at one window and drinks are ordered at the bar. As for my meal, I had the Pork Chop Special. It consisted of two breaded pork chops with a side of corn and a side of mashed potatoes and gravy. The pork chops were good, still moist in the middle. The breading was very tasty but it didn’t seem well bonded to the meat. The sides were good for what they were. Overall, it was a good experience. I will be going back sooner rather than later.

I have only been here twice and never on a weekend night although I have wanted to. Had the philly cheese steak, greasy but good. Prices are decent. It looks like a place I would love on the weekends. Has a back closed in patio area with a fireplace and decent parking.

For some reason this is an incredibly popular establishment. I’ve been here all of two times since I moved here in 2004 and once eaten their food. It was moderately priced but SO greasy and not flavorful at all. Their beer selection is decent at best. I will say parking is abundant and you’ll always be able to find a place to sit inside unless it’s St. Patrick’s Day. This was my most recent experience here. A couple of my friends wanted cheap beer to pair with their corned beef and cabbage, so I agreed to go as well. Being vegetarian and knowing the Dandy Inn wasn’t going to have anything I wanted to eat, I opted to eat beforehand. If not for having my first encounter with green beer, I would have considered the the whole situation a loss. Parking was a mess, attempting to sit down was beyond impossible and forget about trying to get the bar tender’s attention. Moral of the story: don’t come here on St. Patrick’s Day. Go out, buy some Guinness and savor it in the comfort of your own home.

I’m giving this 4 stars based on one thing and one thing only: The Fried Fish. I have been to many of the local VFW’s, church, etc fish fries in the area, from Belleville, to Shiloh, to O’Fallon, Mascoutah, etc, and the CODFISHCUTUPS are DELICIOUS here. I honestly expected more from their Guinness, but the only place that had decent Guinness around here, Castletown Geoghegan in Belleville, is now closed/reopening or whatever, so it’s on par with what’s in the area, I suppose. Also, their tartar sauce complements their Cod Fish Cutups perfectly. Cool neighborhood ambiance and a great place to take the kids for pizza and food, while you can grab a cold one and relax in their big porch inside or outside during nice Illinois days. Best fried fish in town: Cod Fish Cutups.

You do not come to Dandy Inn for a quiet, relaxing dinner. You come to drink beer and eat FRIED food or PIZZA. Eating inside works when it is very cold or very hot, but most of the time sit on the porch or outside. I love going here with a large group pf people. It is a great place to kick back, drink, and be loud. And yet, you see people of all ages, including families. Of course they have put very little money into the place, and yes, the bathrooms are a joke(believe it or not they have been remodeled), but I love this place. There are specials every night. I am in love with their pizza. Plus, almost everyone loves the wings, but I do not eat chicken. The jalapeño hush puppies are crazy good. I have years of good memories from hanging out here. Give your debit/credit card to the bar, run that tab, and the night is young! Where I teach it is not happy hour; it is a Dandy Day.

It’s a bar with a kitchen. No more, no less! People are friendly and the drinks are cheap. Sure, it’s a bit dirty, but it’s been around for at least 30 years! ;)

The only thing Irish about this little dive is the old St. Patty posters. I have went here on a non-St. Patty’s weekend and they had terrible wings, pizza, and service. They do have cheap drinks and within walking distance of my place which makes it convienent. I did go for St. Patty’s and they had a tent set up. It was very festive and had a large crowd, so maybe I will try it again on another Friday night. I’m just not sure I’d waste a Saturday.
