Amazing Food and the portions are huge. If you haven’t tried the Steak Plate yet, it is a must!!!

Best Portuguese steak plate around, no argument. Plentiful portions, kitchen is quick, and restaurant is very clean. Service is pretty solid depending on the server.

I lived in RI/MA for years but never really dug into Portuguese food. So on a trip back, I asked a friend to take me to one of his favorites and this was it. The atmosphere and service are completely family restaurant. They really make you feel at home. We all got the steak which is apparently thier specialty. The plate was loaded… A giant thin cut steak with a thin sauce, red pepper and garlic, fries, rice and two eggs. And it was really good and very reasonably priced. If you’re expecting a classic NY strip or rib eye, you might be disappointed. But if you’re up for an old world classic, this is it. I can’t wait to go back!

My brother, myself and my father who is temporarily in a wheelchair drove to Fall River from Boston about an hour away for a little field trip. Let me first start by saying that the staff member that waited on us was very very accommodating and made my father feel comfortable. The bread was nice and fresh. The restaurant itself was very clean and it looked like it was just recently built or renovated. All 3 of us got the steak plate and we all agreed that it was better than the steak plate from the restaurant next door. I would recommend this place to anyone who likes Portuguese food and the price is right for the quality of the food.

Very disappointed. We ordered 3 steaks and the food had no taste, it was cold, it took less than 5 min for the food to be at our table. It felt like the bed was already cooked. Bee was hard. Not planning on going back any soon

It’s hit or miss with this place either it’s delicious or incredibly bland gave 2 stars because it’s decent priced Portuguese food that’s somewhat prompt and convenient.

Not sure what the good word about this place is. I believe because they have such a quick turn over they are not taking pride in the food. I got the shrimp plate and the steak plate, I’ve made better shrimp and steak plates then this. The Mozambique sauce was so plan I think it was just shrimp covered in hot sauce. As for the steak good portion but over cooked. It would have been easier chewing a piece of leather. I also got a red sangria because as I was waiting for a table a lady said it was the best she ever had. It must have been her first, two thumbs down. The best part of the night was the bread. Will not go back ever

My first Portuguese dining experience. My friend is Portuguese & Brazilian and Fall River is home to the largest Portuguese community it was mandatory we go to a Portuguese restaurant. I actually bookmarked this place prior to my visit. Luckily my friend had been here before and assured me it was delicious which it most definitely was. We both ordered a sumol passion fruit drink. So yum! Need to find that in Chicago. We ordered both the shrimp Mozambique and the steak plate to share. The shrimp was good and had the perfect balance of garlic and tomato. I really enjoyed dipping the bread in the sauce. My only gripe was they didn’t serve deveined shrimp. It was a little off putting to be completely honest. The steak plate was mouth watering delicious with all that garlic!!! I love garlic. The true Portuguese way is to eat with both rice and fries which is how we did it. The fries look like a strange white color, but they’re good none the less. The rice is perfectly cooked and mixed with the steak juices takes it to a whole other level. It also came with fried eggs. The yolk wasn’t funny enough for me, but it paired well with the rest of the plate. It was good and id be back for sure!

This place is a jewel! Since I discovered this excellent eatery years ago it has only gotten better. I do not get the opportunity to dine on Portuguese cuisine very often since moving to TN, but nearly every year when I do get back to SE New England I make it a rule to make certain to make Caravelha’s a must stop. I have decided that without question they have the very best Portuguese steak dish to be had any where, that’s right the best. Great cut of meat, tender, juicy and delicious served with a amazing au jus they call gravy(take my advice and order an extra bowl of gravy and peppers), with sliced red Portuguese peppers on top, lots of fresh garlic everywhere with a couple of fried eggs on the side, topped with amazing fries and you even have the option to add some rice on the plate, it’s stupid good. You get some fresh made bread, with real butter to soak up those juices with, it’s just a party in your mouth. Of course a great starter is the big plate of shrimp Mozambique, which has its own crazy good sauce and if you want to make your Portuguese steak a surf ‘n turf they add 5 of those shrimps to your plate. You can get a pork tenderloin served much the same way, there’s fish and chips, chicken dishes and don’t forget the homemade crazy good deserts. You can get Portuguese, local and imported beers, wines in glasses or carafes, Sangria pitchers and more. What I’m trying to say is, DON’T MISSTHISPLACE! I never leave here without a smile on my face, the atmosphere, friendly staff and the amazing food is worth the trip, and maybe even a little wait on the weekends. You will no doubt be glad you made the trip. Enjoy!

Caravela has some of the best Portuguese food around! Aside from their tasty meals, their portion sizes are huge and always make you want to come back the next day. The only reason why this place doesn’t get five stars from me is because of the bad experiences I’ve had with some of their inconsiderate waitresses. Sometimes it seems like the place is understaffed and they are put under a lot of stress, but if this place wants to keep my business, the staff will have to be friendlier. Someone at my table needed to keep a water bottle because he has a medical condition that gets him dehydrated quickly and even after explaining this to the waitress she rudely told him he could not drink outside drinks(so we left). If you don’t care much about service though and want a good meal, make this your go-to place in Fall River!

Beef plate, pork plate, chicken plate, fried chourice plate. Not much to choose from. Luckily it’s all good and they know it! Park on the side street by the walking path and go on in for lunch. Each plate is going to have a couple cutlets pounded out in Portuguese marinade and loaded with garlic. Then, you are going to have the unique Azores traditional two starches on the plate. Rice and the best home made French fries anywhere covered with two fried eggs. A couple broccoli crowns for good measure. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner on one plate. I eat it all, sopping up every last drop of runny egg yolk and gravy with a pao seco. Then, I have an espresso to stay awake on my trip to Chave’s market for sweet bread and pastry on the way home. There are a few more things on the menu, but it’s small. The place will make you envy the locals. I watched four painters come in once. They ate their meals with a glass of wine. Then they each has a flan and then an espresso. When I was painter, we ate at Burger King!
