In a state that is devoid of culture and diverse, or even good, food, this place is a beacon. Situated inside a lovely hotel, the cuisine is unique and tasty for a fair price. Upscale enough for a date or night out, but approachable enough for those not wishing to break the bank. Although not truly on the level of «gourmet» in all aspects, what impresses me most here is the reliability, meaning I always get lovely food and passable service here every time. Predictability in a restaurant is sometimes a good thing, as it is here. Yummy, I say.

Drinks and service in the HoDo were great, but we were baffled as to why the rooftop bar was not open on May 21, marathon weekend, with a high of 80 and not a cloud in the sky. Beautiful hotel and the bar was great, but damn, missed opportunity.

The HoDo restaurant absolutely rocks. We had dinner in the bar. It was amazing the General’s Chicken, roasted beet salad and mussels. All were 5. Brunch the next day, in the restaurant, was nothing less than epic. I added a pic. Huevos rancheros and eggs Benedict. Eat here. Drink here.

We went to hodo today expecting a nice restaurant with great food. We were very disappointed with the food. My chicken was dry and the sides weren’t what I expected. We definitely won’t be going back.

Been here twice in last week. Both times, the service has been slow and food lukewarm. I don’t know what I am missing. All my friends love this place but I don’t see it. Had breakfast my first time. Took half an hour to get. Eggs were cold, potatoes were hard. Sausage patties were ok and bacon looked shriveled and sad. They also seem quite perplexed if you ask for salt and pepper. Work dinner a few days later. A cool and chewy ny strip Again, waited too long for food. Giving them extra star due to good service.

Local produce, live music, and creative dishes make this place a must when you’re trying to show-off Fargo. Try an interesting cocktail.

I wish I would have known that the executive chef left two weeks ago. My wife and I looked forward to the Easter buffet as it received accolades from MSN for best Easter buffet in ND. 0ne does not have to be a food snub to be very disappointed in the food today. Beef was cold and tough, other items including potatoes, eggs Benedict, salmon, bacon were all cold. HoDo defiantly did not live up to its reputation.

Very unimpressed. Was looking forward to the grass fed filet, even at $ 42 in Fargo. However, it was lacking the marbling and flavor of a qualify dry aged steak and I question its authenticity. The spinach was drowned in butter and cream, a inferior chef’s way to add flavor with little effort. The spaghetti squash was over flavored with garlic and again drowned in butter, making it inedible. I’ll save my steak diners for Manny’s or Murray’s in Minneapolis.

The downtown Fargo standout for bar and restaurant service. Best cocktail artists in town. Outstanding on and off menu selection.

Short staffed, the hostess was new and uninformed, and the only waiter struggled to keep up with the Sunday brunch crowd. Needless to say, there was a long wait to be seated, a long wait to see the waiter for the first time, and the food was the longest wait of all. I can only assume it sat unattended for a while given its temperature when finally arriving at the table. I don’t blame the waiter or hostess(both kids), but the manager that saw fit to charge them with handling the Sunday crowd alone. Shameful for a place that feigns fancy in Fargo. Been out here on business for a week, and this was hands down the greatest disappointment.

Wanted a special night out for New Years Eve. Had a most incredible experience. Service was outstanding. Attentive and timely. The meal was perfect. Started with lobster bisque, harvest salad with honey vinegrett, seared scallop, filet mignon, and Pavlov a. We will be back. One of our new favorites

I want to like the HoDo, but every time we’ve eaten there we’ve had a bad experience with either the food or the staff. It’s the only restaurant in my life that I’ve actually tried to send the food back… and I say try because when I told the waitress the food was so bad we could only stomach two bites she said sorry and asked if we wanted the bill then… WAY over priced for the quality and service we’ve experienced the few times we’ve tried it.

I don’t ever intend to come back here. The people working in the lounge were rude. They totally blew me off as i sat there with my card in hand ready to order a glass of wine. Their rudeness cost them a handsome tip because I tip well when I receive good service. They were just staring at me and/or looking to avert their eyes to other things. Not even once did they say I’ll be right with you. I got up from the lounge and went to the restarant since that’s where our reservations were. The food was overpriced, the portion sizes were small, and the taste was not that great. I’m fine with paying a lot of money for fine dining. I’m no cheap prick. I like my food to excite me but I was not excited about the food here. The service in the restaurant was more acceptable then the lounge. I’ll give it that much. The hostess sat us in a nice spot and the presentation of the food was exceptional. The food however could use more flavor and lower the prices a bit. What they are charging is outrageous when I can get something much more tasty elsewhere and pay half the price

Brunch!!! Finally a place in Fargo that has an awesome brunch! Quite a large menu with many different items. Husband and I had the Farmhouse scramble and The downtowner. We also requested a side of biscuits and the pastry chef whipped up a quick blueberry compote that was to die for! We can’t wait to come back and try the pancakes, French toast and more! Thank you for having a wonderful brunch offering in this city!

We need more restaurants like this in Fargo! Amazing food! Well it’s fine dining after all! Love the ambience too! I had the halibut with Italian rice… Highly recommend it– haven’t had anything like it not even in California where I moved from.

This was our first time eating in the restaurant and it was a fabulous experience. The atmosphere was fun, it was romantic and quiet, the server was excellent and the food was fantastic.

Loved the laid back vibe of this place. Yes, besides drinking yourself to smithereens at the bar, they actually have really decent food. Had the salad with walnuts/pears — it was divine! Truly excellent. Then the bison dish. The bison, as expected was a bit chewy and took longer to masticate to my satisfaction before swallowing. But after chewing and rejecting a few bites, I found the rest of the dish to be quite enjoyable. Bison is not for everyone, but I happen to love«gamey» meats. Décor: Industrial, casual Food: Good, not out of this world, but adequate good Service: Inattentive, scattered People: Corporate after hours crowd Parking: Free parking lot around the corner

I went to the HoDo for brunch this past weekend. It was funny to see a man standing outside in a bacon costume. We looked over the menu and checked out some of the food at the tables around and decided on an order biscuits and gravy Huevos rancheros. These were two stellar options. The meal started off with a mini cinnamon roll with the best frosting. We waited for a fair amount of time to place our order hence the reason for the minus one star. However our waitress was very kind and she did a good job of making sure our waters were filled. The Huevos rancheros had a huge kick to it and was a little too spicy for me but my friend loved it! I thought the biscuits and gravy were really good! There was tons of sausage in the gravy. The biscuits were a little tough and could have been more flaky which would have made it some of the best biscuits and gravy that I ever had. The décor for the holidays was superb!

Meh. Two stars for the food, which is hipster-ish, and includes a tasty buffalo burger. An additional bump for the atmosphere, which is lively and fresh. I’m judging the HoDo by New York standards, which may be unfair. I’d give it another star if I lived in Fargo, because there just aren’t that many similar options(meaning restaurants that aren’t cookie-cutter chains or diners). But if you’re a tourist, as we were, you can do a lot worse, and you will.
