We booked our Christmas party, 25 people over a month in advance. We asked to be sure that we were seated privately so that we could socialize and our CEO could make a speech. We checked in over and over in the weeks leading up to the party even calling the day of to ensure everything was set. When we arrived there was another party placed with us. When I went to the manager he said«Nothing I can do about it, you will have to deal with it» and«did you sign a contract saying that? if not then I can’t help you» I was stunned, this was the first we had heard of a contract. He was argumentative and rude and eventually after much convincing the other party was moved. The night continued badly as they were out of everything from white wines(literally, no white wine). The poor waitress(who was honestly the only saving grace of this place) had to come back to us over and over to tell us what items they had left, and force everyone to change their orders. When she finally got our final, final orders(45 minutes) the food took over an hour to get and when it arrived most was wrong, plated poorly and just not good especially given the price. The jerk of a manager never showed his face again, apologized or try to make anything right. Overall too expensive of a meal for bad food, bad management and poor service. Again if it weren’t for the waitress we would have walked. Better restaurants in Fargo, don’t waste your time or money.

This is a good steakhouse and they serve good food. I feel that it was a little expensive. The atmosphere was classy and it was very clean. The customer service was fast and friendly. This is a place that I would take a date for a nice dinner.

It is a nice thing to go to what be semi posh place to be surrounding by bikers, hipsters and odd characters. Nice menu selection with an excellent bar staff. Who knows what you you will see and who you will meet. Chicken waffles, meatloaf and prime cut steaks…

I have been eating at this establishment every Friday for the past year. It as always been amazing, which is why I return so frequently. The staff are friendly and helpful. The bartenders are great! I am not a big alcohol person so they help make drinks that I will like. I was originally nervous about going to it because I am not a very fancy person but even though the atmosphere is sophisticated it is also suitable for all sorts of people and occasions. The head chef is one of the best chefs for service, customer friendliness, and cooking skills that I have ever come across. He blows me away with everything he cooks. I get the New York Strip with pea and lobster risotto every Friday. I have also tried pretty much every other item on the menu as well and I am rarely disappointed. I would highly recommend this place to all locals and out of towners for a wonderful night.
Well. I start out by saying that I feel bad giving a poor review. We had heard from friends that this place had absolutely amazing food so of course we wanted to give it a try. We went in on a Wednesday evening around 7pm. I mention this because Wednesday isn’t a particularly«busy» night and the restaurant was about 1⁄3 full. We started out with some drinks and appetizers. As another reviewer mentioned, the duck fat fries were nothing special, in fact they were soggy which doesn’t get me excited about eating fries. We also had a cheese platter. It was alright. I mean the cheese did taste very good, however the accouterments of fruit were meager and unimpressive. Ok, so that being said we were ready for the main course. It took ATLEAST an hour and 45 minutes to get our food! The server was ok– she did come by a lot but she failed to actually ask multiple people at once if anything was needed. What I mean is that she would single out someone and say, «Do you need another drink?» and that person would say«sure» and she scurried off. While a couple of us could have also gotten our drink order in at the same time and then she also forgot to bring drinks after people had requested another. Since there was such a long wait for food we ending up having a few libations each, and at one point our server told us «sorry it was taking so long to get our drink(s) the bartender was drinking with her friends because it was her birthday»… Is it just me or is that something you might not want to mention to customers? Anyway, our food finally arrived around 9pm. It was alright. I had chicken which was very tender and moist, but the rub on the outside was SALTY. I still liked it but after awhile the mouth burned. The sides were unmemorable. Oh yeah that’s right it came with pork belly hash(thought that sounded good) however that was not my cup of tea. Imagine cubes of soft bacon. chewy fat cubes. Ish. Not good. The other people with me had gotten a burger(yes two hours for a burger) and one of them ordered it ‘well done’ and there was absolutely not a consistent cook throughout and the inside was pinkish-red but at that point we weren’t going to send anything back for fear of being there another two hours plus we were too hungry. All in all for that kind of wait the food should knock your socks off but it was really average. Big disappointment.

We dined here by chance, as we wanted to try the wurst bier hall but unfortunately(or fortunately) it is 21 plus after 4pm. So we checked out the Beefsteak club and asked if they could seat 7; 4 adults and 3 small kids. We were impressed with the kind staff, and how welcoming they were to our kids. Our kids ordered the duck fat fries, veggies and Mac-n– cheese to share and the Mac-n-cheese was amazing. My husband and 2 other adults had steak which they enjoyed and I had salmon which was too salty. Our families bill came to $ 120 with drinks . Not to expensive as we have spent more at chains and this was a better experience and food.

I’ve never ha dinner here, but plenty of times sitting in the lounge have drinks and appetizers. If that says anything for the dinner menu you’ll be in good shape. The burger, pasta, and duck fat fries are amazing. That’s right, duck fat. Sounds like fair food, but tastes amazing! The bar tenders are some of the best in Fargo! Creative and know how to make a quality drink!

I have been holding off on this review, debating whether or not to give the place another try. Due to the high cost of the Beefsteak Club I have been holding off on giving it a second chance but, as always, I will. If my experience changes at that time, I will update this review. I came here quite a few months ago. A lot of my friends were raving about the place and, since I like a good steak, I figured I would give it a try. I was told to get one of the special aged steaks, so I got the New York strip and a mixed green salad. I brought a friend and he got the same thing. We also started with the duck fat fries, which also came highly recommended. We both felt they were just meh. There was nothing special about them. They were just soggy fries. I have not been more disappointed in a steak since my time in the Army. The first bite had a lot of flavor, but it was quickly lost. My steak was overdone on one end and very rare on the other, but was still pretty tough. The outer edge of the steak was very hard, sort of like cardboard or… The best description I can think of is that it seemed like what it would be to bite into the waxy rind that covers a good cheese. My review might be different if only I had these issues, but my friend had the same experience. The high point of the meal, sadly, was my mixed green salad. It had a great taste and the greens seemed very fresh. But, the salad was not the reason I came. The place was clean and service while not especially friendly or welcoming, was very professional. For two of us, including tip, the bill came to over $ 100. I so wanted to like this place, and expected great things based on the number of people that have told me how excellent the place is. They still defend it and they dine there very often, so I will have to give it a second chance, eventually. I just have a hard time planning to spend another $ 100 at a place where I have already had a terrible experience. Once I build up my bravery again, I hope to be able to give this place a better review. Until then, two stars is what they get.

I’ve been wanting to try this restaurant for months now because it looked like a classy place that would have good food. I finally ate there last night and I have to say, I was extremely disappointed by my experience. Fargo-Moorehead was having its first Restaurant Week ever and when I saw BSC as one of the listed restaurants, I giddily thought it’d be the perfect opportunity to check it out with a group of friends on the first night. Clearly, I was wrong. And now my long, angry rant(that includes stages… yes, stages) begins: 1. The Stage of Naïve Optimism: We sat at our table, people ordered drinks, and we were all like, «yeah! this place seems really nice!» Then 30 minutes passed and our server walked past our table at least 4 times while we all tried to get her attention so that we could order. Intense eye staring was done, weird noises were made, that awkward twitchy hand raise/wave occurred, and we even asked another server to have her come to our table because we were ready to order. All of these efforts were a fail. I’d like to add at this point that the restaurant was pretty empty and there was only 2 other tables surrounding us. 2. The Stage of Disbelief & Disappointment: By the time she came to our table so that we could order, we each asked for the Restaurant Week 3-course meal(obviously), and it was at that point, that she informed us that they had ran out of food over the weekend and wasn’t offering it. I’m sorry, but if you’re not going to be able to serve the Restaurant Week menu that you’ve been publicizing on the very first night of Restaurant Week, you should communicate this to your customers right after they’re seated(not after they’ve already ordered and begun drinking their beers/wine and have sat there waiting for a long period of time)…or at least have a back-up option prepared… or at least sound even remotely apologetic… or at least be nice about it. In addition to this, one of our friends is vegetarian and so I had called ahead and asked if they served vegetarian options(which they said yes), but when she asked to get one of the few vegetarian options on the menu, they said they were all out of that dish as well. So then we all ordered something else and thought to ourselves that it was pretty disappointing, but would still probably all be fine. We were fools. 3. The Stage of Hangriness(aka feeling intense feelings of anger due to intense hunger): It took about a hour for our food to arrive and by the time it did, the dishes were ok, but small and luke warm since I think they had been sitting there for a while before she delivered them to us. I ordered a flank steak medium rare, and it came out more well done and was a pretty small portion. Like a baby portion. Like I could eat that steak as a snack and then eat about 10 more steaks. 4. The Stage of I-Hate-Our-Server: After we were all done, we waited about 20 more minutes for her to stop by so that we could ask for our checks. At this point, there was only 1 other table in the entire restaurant and none of us were infected with the bubonic plague, and so I’m not really sure why it took her so long to stop by. I should also add that it happened to be a friend’s birthday, and so we had asked her at the beginning of our meal whether it would be possible to do something for his birthday, and she said that they’d bring a free dessert out at the end of the meal. Of course, this never happened, which isn’t surprising considering the poor and inattentive service. Overall, I think the atmosphere was nice and the food was okay-ish, but due to the poor service, I don’t plan on coming back. If you’re looking to impress your dinner-guest with great food and good service, I’d recommend going to Mezza Luna or Monte’s instead.

Ate there last night & we really enjoyed it. The service was great, they were very attentive and continually checked up on us(and not in that annoying manner). The food was very filling and presentation was spot on! If you like some where classy but not stiff then you’ll definitely like this place. All in all we will be visiting this place again!

It was not good! We had to wait 1 ½ hours for our main entre and a whole hour for a appetizer. I had a burger and the bun was cold! And a man behind us had his steak taken back because it was Cold!!! That’s nasty!!!

What can I say about our experience? Wednesday evening dining out around 8PM or so. Decided to order off of their lounge menu. –Duck fat french fries — They were alright with the exception of the cheese they put on the top of them gave them a strange texture. Best thing that we ate though. — Cheeseburger soup(soup of the day) — Unfortunately, the soup was so salty that we could not finish it. And we LOVE salt… but this was like someone had a accident where the cap fell off of the shaker and a large quantity went into the soup. This was also the case with the beef stew and it was compared by my friend as being«Dinty Moore» like taste. Yikes. — Prime Rib Sandwich — The meat itself was a good thick cut with a white bread bun. Again — very salty. It would have helped the taste if there was onions on it to help break up the salt and texture. The ajus dipping sauce was all salt as well. Not a very hearty flavor like you would normally expect form a meaty sauce made from drippings of flavorful meat. — Grilled pineapple salad — No longer a surprise, the pineapple did not taste like pineapple and tasted like salt. Even though it was grilled, it was not caramelized or sweet like a grilled texture of a pineapple should be. It barely had a pineapple taste, which was very sad. — The Pepper Jack Burger — My friend ordered this and it was a monstrous burger. The meat was very salty.(The chef must have had a bad night or something with a salt shaker.) He described it as lacking flavor even though it was cooked medium and it was very juicy with grease from fresh ground meat goodness.(This was hard to believe, but after sampling it — I had to agree.) The overall experience was very disappointing and I was so dehydrated after all of the salt in the food I feel like we were better off eating at a fast food place or Mezzalunas — who have the best burger in town. Seriously, I thought this place would be a contender to them… but not even close. I’m not sure what was going on with the chef that night but I will not be back after our experience and the amount of money we had to spend to eat incredibly dull and salty food. — The Ginger Snap drink was the best thing we tried. Maybe there is hope with their cocktails… the bartender had a great sense of humor but obviously wasn’t happy there weren’t very many customers.

I really like coming here mainly because it’s a quiet place, well it’s usually quiet when I’m there. Lunch is yummy, I am in love with the chicken and waffles, if you haven’t had it don’t be afraid, it’s amazing! The bison meatloaf is delish, the side of mushroom Mac & cheese is great too. I have yet to try the brunch, but it looks awesome! If you like 40’s you should come here on a Friday evening! I think they are $ 3 or $ 4 for a «happy hour» style 40oz beer. It’s fun, the bartenders are super nice, give it a go if you haven’t already!

The Beefsteak Club is a nice addition to downtown Fargo. DIned here last Friday at 7:00PM. It was pretty quiet, but it’s summer and there’s a crapload of road construction in the immediate area. Our service was solid — attentive without being overbearing. The steaks were well cooked and flavorful. This is to be expected — it IS The Beefsteak Club, after all. These things really impressed me much more than the steaks: — The sides accompanying each steak. I had the pea and lobster risotto and it was FABULOUS. Nice work by the chef! — The fettuccine and sausage was also outstanding. For only $ 13, it’s light years better than similarly priced fare at a Ground Round or Applebee’s. Seriously. Not close. — The menu: entrée prices ranged from $ 13 to $ 36. Because of the pricing, this restaurant is accessable to almost anyone. Ditto for the wine list. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone in Fargo. I hope this place makes it… seems like Fargo might have too many quasi fine dining restaurants.

— Three stars only because the Chef came out to talk to us and he was friendly and he said he was trying a new menu on the day we visited, otherwise it would have been 2 stars– It was snowing when we got to the restaurant so I’m not sure if it was so empty due to snow or it’s always empty… Service was OK but the server/host did forget a few items we ordered when he assured us that he would be able to remember everything without writing down our order. — Complimentary bread: It was warm but we weren’t sure if these were a store-bought sandwich bread or not. I had never gotten slices of sandwich bread at a restaurant. This was so turn-off… — Appetizer: 1. Walleye cake: One good item. 2. Calamari, smoke duck flat bread, french fries with cheese/duck fat/smoked duck, scallop: I’m not impressed by all of these items. Calamari had strange flavor and texture, flat bread had absolutely no flavor what so ever and crust was like thick cracker, french fries(wanna be ‘poutine’) was not flavorful considering it was fried in duck fat and scallop came out with some kind of tomato sauce which was quite salty… ugh. 3. French Onion soup: interesting cheese on top… not sure what it was but it was too soft and very little cheese. I prefer traditional Gruyère cheese or mozzarella. — Steak: My colleagues said steaks were OK but not far better than any other Fargo restaurants we’ve been to. — Dessert: I had ‘French toast bread pudding’. I wished the server said not to order it. It was terrible. Inside of toast was still white(not soaked in anything) and the entire thing with crème was not sweet at all. I wasn’t sure if this was meant to be a dessert or breakfast. — Different from what they said on their website, there was very limited variety of wines available. Overall, I was quite disappointed and not sure if I would ever return.

here we go… i am writing this in ipad format so the punctuaion and grammer may not fit the review. First…thank you. Thank you for being the critical part of what I call one of the best dining experieces I’ve taken part of. I don’t want to make this review sound out of place so I will be honest. I don’t write reviews… unless its worth a review. I start by deleting the first three paragraphs… sounds about right?! Then I go on writing random thoughts and coming back to connect these thoughts through witty banter eventually getting to the main points. Ok… so randomly we will start… The chef not only came out to explain the process and timeframes of our order, but he «in the midst of explaining» noticed my napkin was still in its holder and draped it acros my lap in mid sentence. Class is shown and passed on through action… I need not say anymore I don’t know who is reading this or where the persons experiece has been for being served but its the details that make a good thing great, and a great thing exceptional. Eating at world reknown restaurantes in New York, Miami, Las Vegas, Chicago, Minneapolis… one begins to feel a sense of «why do I pay for a piece of beef we know to be raised on probably one of our family friends’s farms?» Well… to answer that, we pay to be appreciated, pampered, and for the faint moment of a second, like we are royalty. Not that our desires are to do nothing and have the world at our feet, but only to glimpse and feel a dream, yet go back to our true passion of living an honest life. We pay to be served and to experience an event, like a concert, a massage, a trip away from consistency to a destination far away in our minds letting our dreams become a reality. Face it… Being a midwesterner… whether born and raised, or moved because of oil or some other job, has allowed us to finally call home… home. What we don’t usually benefit from is these guilty moments where we want to be the kings/queens of our moments. Such guilty pleasures of a consistent economy. History repeats itself through luxury and opulence yet defines it’s words through experiences. Here, the sitter can be forgotten, geographical location can be parallelled to the menu, and for the upteenth time, you may be able to fall in love with your better half you’ve become to accustomed with(yes, try something new and let this place start your night off)!!! The chef thought I would appreciate the wild mushrooms with my filet. I did. It opened another door of thought and appreciation into my life. Everything is made from the hands in the trenches and can be savored with each bite. As I asked for the check the waitress said we couldn’t leave as there is a complimentart dessert being made for us. Two things here… one being the waitress. Being in the service industry for years has allowed the oppportunity to experience to know what can be done and what should be done. On a Monday night, she went out of her way to genuinely care. Thats rare. It ryhmes I know. She seriously… I don’t know what to say because there is so much on just how pleasent the experience was brought by her. Thank you. You mentioned being a graphic designer and our wishes go with you, but let me tell you firsthad being involved with hundreds of peoples lives in work. You will be more than successful if you don’t loose exactly what you have now. Good Luck! The other thing… we were given a pure sin. In the form of some devilish blueberry strawberry cheese cake from scratch form… A sin. Thank you very much and looking forward to being part of your experiece… Donny & Hope

A bunch of my girlfriends and I went here last Friday for happy hour. We couldn’t resist trying the food so we just shared a bunch of dishes. My favorite was the escargot appetizer… Amazing!!! The steaks are definitely the star, the best steak I’ve ever had. They do however have other choices for you non meat eaters. I’m trying the smoked salmon pasta next time! The service was amazing from the host, to the very knowledgeable bartender, the server, and the wonderful kitchen staff. They have recently added so many wonderful wines to their list. They have 100plus bottles on their list!!!
