Stopped in for a few beers. Had a beer and bloody mary. Bartender lady was super friendly, inviting and warm. Bloody Mary I didn’t find anything special though, thought the mix could have some heat and salt. The season salt on the rim was pretty old I think. Didn’t taste very good. Only reason I’m leaving 4 out of 5 is the service, that’s what will have me come back.

C and I have been going to the Bayside for a long time. It’s a bar with good food and drinks. The owner, affectionately known as Smilin’ Bob, is around much anymore(up in years), yet the place runs like and is predictable as a clock. We have always found the bartenders and servers to be friendly. There are two unique things that they serve: Smilin’ Bob’s chili(VG) and pizze with Smilin’ Bob’s Chili(really VG). And make sure to order a Bayside Coffee. It’s a drink with many ingredients that is prepared in front of you in flames.

Locals and visitors mix in this place especially on the weekends. The hamburgers are great, with cheese curds, we always like to go to Bay side every time we are in Fish Creek for lunch, sometimes just drive out for the day and Bayside is a special taste treat. Sometimes with the crowds there can be a wait time but it’s worth it, your on Fish Creek time.

I’m from the Midwest. Hell, I even served tables at Al Johnson’s down the street for two years… I really would’ve appreciated better service at the bar-perhaps it’s a ‘single woman at the bar’ epidemic that equals bad service. I waited longer for my food because they got the order wrong, I fought to get a glass of Chardonnay as no one acknowledged me. I asked for a glass of water that I never got, and was basically disappointed all around. Learn to give good service to everyone!

The food here is nothing really to write home about although I will say the Tuna sandwich is really good. This place is all about Friday and Saturday nights after you go to a different place for dinner. You cannot beat the atmosphere. I grew up «going up north» for the weekends and summers and when I finally hit *cough* 21 I realized why my parents always wanted to. Most of the bartenders I’m used to are gone now, but the place will always have a spot in my heart.

I’ve attended Winter Fest in Fish Creek each of the past three years. The event takes place behind Bay Side Tavern on the frozen lake, so the bar becomes a very convenient spot to meet up for drinks and apps after the event. I think the drinks are good and the food is ok. We’ve had appetizer samplers and pizzas made with hand-tossed crusts. The sausage they used on the cheese and sausage pizza we had this year isn’t that great(reminded me of Tony’s frozen pizza, the one in the yellow box), but we really enjoyed a garlic and onion pizza last year. I think if you dine during anytime other than Winter Fest, you might get better food because they can take the time to give it proper care. Some of my friends like their Bloody Mary’s and I’ve enjoyed their Whiskey Old Fashioneds. The staff is friendly and accommodating, and while things get hectic during Winter Fest, they step up and do a nice job. I’m told a new«gin bar» opened a ½ block down, but we didn’t get a chance to try it out. For what it is, Bayside Tavern, fills the need in a pinch.

Pretty damn good pizza… and I’m from Chicago, so figure it out! Garlic bread was satisfying too. Brought leftovers back to our cozy winter rental cottage and microwaving the pizza fit the bill again! Very nice server! Affordable!

This is a favorite and a must visit when in Door County. Great pizza and service. A real neighborhood bar where if you’re not a visitor, I’m sure everyone knows your name.

**FRAUDALERT** 8-23-2015: I reviewed my recent transaction at Bay Side Tavern after my DC trip and the waiter(presumed) added $ 10 to my transaction in form of a tip. If you read below, you’ll note that I did not leave a tip due to his guestimate on what my total was. I will be calling Bay Side Tavern in the morning to issue my grievance and then possibly my credit card company’s fraud department. Also, Door County Sheriff’s Office will be contacted and given all information on this matter.** The bar/restaurant are about equal in size(big bar). It is a first come, seat yourself environment. Coming with a group(which we did) isn’t recommended on a busy Friday night. It took a long time to get a spot but we did and had to really spread out. I ordered a double cheeseburger(pick 2 cheeses) and walleye cheeks. It didn’t take too long to get everything. The walleye was really good and the dipping sauce was amazing. The walleye was overcooked and had the consistency of chicken(even looked like it). The burger was very good and quite the redemption from the one I had earlier at Juniper’s. Everything was really good. The 2 things that kept this from becoming a 5 star rating was the excessive noise and the waiter splitting the bill in his head(including estimating tax) then saying what it was. It was that which led to no tip because that’s not the math we had. I’d like to go back. Also, the tuna steak was really good!

Went here on a Sunday afternoon on our way out of town. Wasn’t busy at all and we immediately found a nice table. We were served quickly and got drinks. I ordered a more than decent bloody Mary which I enjoyed thourougly. We ordered our meals, a bacon cheeseburger and fries and my order-gluten free pizza. Food was fantastic. Burger was notably good and gluten free pizza was outstanding. My one quip would be that during our meal, the restaurant got increasingly busy and we saw our waitress less and less. They only had two servers working from what we could see, so getting our check and a to go box took about 20 minutes. Overall, excellent food and good bloody. Would recommend for a quick afternoon bite — but beware if they are busy and understaffed.

I have to say that it really pains me to give this classic place that I have been going to since I was 6 years old 3 stars. This place was not being run correctly when we were there this summer and it really showed. When we were able to get a table we sat down and piled all of the old dishes from the last people at the end of the table. After about 5 minutes we went up to the bar and all we asked for was that the table be cleared as we already had drinks and knew what we wanted. They had two bartenders and only one waitress working so our table took about 10 minutes to get cleared and that is about the time we finally got menus and some service. I felt sorry for the waitress until I saw her take a drink order then go make it herself despite the bartenders taking shots for themselves. The waitress had no priorities and it seemed she did not know how to handle multiple tables. Their house beer The Bayside Brew is still one of my favorites and their chili is still the best I can find anywhere. If it were not for my history of loving this place and their awesome food and beer then I would give them less stars. All it would have taken is maybe one more server and this place would have been fantastic but unfortunately we may have caught them on a bad night.

Best sports bar experience in door county. Servers are attentive and work very hard to keep patrons happy. Great place to hang out at night as well. Drinks reasonably priced in comparison to other bars in area. Cheese curds are delicious as well as grilled cheese and bacon sandwich. Go here! Stay away from junipers gin joint next store!

Pleasant surprise! Believe this is where the locals go judging by how busy it was at 10 to 9 on a Wednesday. Great service, great food. Fries were fresh and crisp, sandwiches hearty. One of the few places we found that was open past 9pm. Would recommend to anyone in the area.

Typical bar food, spotted cow on tap. We came because they have gluten-free options they were out of gluten-free bread. I really wanted to like this place but I probably would not come back.

Sally M’s right… this is the only bar in Fish Creek, as best I can tell. We headed here mid-camping trip earlier this fall to catch the Packer game. We’re devoted like that. Here’s a breakdown.(Break it down, now!) –prices reasonable on some items, on others prices seemed a touch high(my guess is that is due to the fact that Door County is a cute/kitschy tourist destination for lots of folks… so they can probably get away with it) ex: some beer seemed reasonably(even cheaply!) priced, whereas some other varities seemed drastically over-priced. I guess I’m not sure about distribution/availability in this part of the state, but still. Noted. –service from the bartender was pretty dang spotty, although the owner/manager dude(from Riverwest!) that we ran into was great and super-nice(big ups to the R-Dubs!) –food was okay, and I wish I could expound, but I can’t; it was bar food, nothing too terribly special, but it wasn’t markedly bad, either. –this spot was super-busy for the game(perhaps in part to the fact that it seems to be the only bar in Fish Creek?) That said, the crowd thinned out considerably after the game ended. –this spots boasts a town-y vibe in the best way possible A-OK, Bay Side Tavern! Should we find ourselves camping at Peninsula Park in the future(and I can’t imagine we wouldn’t!) we’d definitely stop here again for a game, a brew, or a bite should an occasion call for it.
