I visited Oilerie as a member of the team filming for BTT. I chose a chili oil, garlic oil and 25 year balsamic vinegar. I felt compelled to leave a review, because even though i live in los angeles which is home to so many fine food companies, I really loved the quality of the Oilerie products and i would definitely buy them again! The oils are delicious and i use them anytime i cook and over xmas used the balsamic on roasted brussel sprouts and it was so good. Highly recommend.

Ok, so this place is pretty awesome. There are over a dozen varieties of oil(olive, and various others) and balsamics. The way it works, is you are invited to try whatever looks good(basically tiny self-serve shots) from the large tanks, and then you have the staff bottle whatever you like. We got a great garlic olive oil for a gift, and a wonderful 12-year old white balsamic for us. Very tasty, and the friendly info provided on each item by the owner was excellent.

The 25 year old balsamic vinegar is life changing! They provide excellent customer service and are extremely knowledgeable. You are able to sample all the oils and vinegars. The other oileries in Door County don’t even compare. We drove 8 hours this weekend to fish creek just to stock up and it was totally worth it!

Extremely rude and condescending staff. Very disorganized. It was a busy Saturday, but there was absolutely NO order. I came in for the first time ever and was met with chaos. Over a dozen people jammed into the tiny little shop; some waiting in line to pay, others waiting for service. I came there for one thing, and found it on my own.
Here’s where I was insulted by the staff: There were so many customers everywhere, that the sign informing us that customers were not allowed to fill the oil bottles themselves was blocked by people. I truly did not see the sign, and was perplexed by the lack of order and service, so I filled the little bottle with oil and proceeded to the checkout line. I was then confronted by a staff member who asked very loudly with a sharp accusatory tone, like I had just committed a mortal sin, «Did you fill this bottle yourself?» Based on her tone, I hesitantly answered«Yes.» She then continued her attempt to embarrass me in front of everyone by asking even louder«Didn’t you see the signs?(pointing at small 4inch sign) and says«They’re EVERYWHERE.» I replied«No, actually, I didn’t see the sign. And they’re NOTEVERYWHERE.» I then informed her that there was no need to be rude about it. She just smirked and walked away. I put the bottle down and walked out. I will not be going back. I’d rather give my money to a business who treats their customers with respect.

Oilerie is a always a must whenever we are visiting the door. We stock up and then we usually end up ordering online and having the olive oil delivered once we run out. The truffle oil is absolutely amazing. We are heading up again at the end of August and I can’t wait to go and try out a bunch of new stuff and stock up! I promise after you have their oil you won’t ever buy grocery store bought olive oil again! You won’t be disappointed!

We stop in every year to get our yearly stock of garlic olive oil & lemon olive oil! They make great gifts too! Great quality & you can taste all the olive oils & balsamic vinegars before they bottle it fresh for you.

Just walked in then right back out. Who wants to shop a store where they post big bold signs about all the things you cannot touch? Put out a ton of bottles on display then post signs every 2 feet telling me not to pick them up. Really? And signs about«no carry ins» and warnings of «last entry»? Get over yourselves. And consider another line of business. Maybe mortitian where there is no one to scold. One door to enter and two bold signs about no kids under 13? I don’t have kids but aren’t we supposed to encourage their palettes? Probably not in a place where a jar of giardinara runs $ 14. And a small bag of orzo for $ 10. Whatever. Good luck with that.

So delicious! Get the pear balsamic vinegar to go with your salads… you will be in love! The dipping packets are also so tasty if you’re planning a wine/cheese/french bread night!

I love to cook and use lots of different olive oils. The Oilerie is a must stop for those who like to cook. Not only do they have many different olive oils, but also vinegars, spices and other food items. Curt started out selling his own spices before adding olive oils. It was a good move. He had one of the first olive oil bars in the midwest.

Ever hear of a store that carries over 20 flavors of olive oil and balsamic vinegars? Neither had I until I wandered into Oilerie the other day. This is an amazing place. Stainless steel imported tanks filled with the oils and vinegars that customers can sample before buying. Everything from porcini to garlic, or truffle to sun dried tomato olive oils. And those balsamic vinegars? Flavored with everything from raspberry, cherry, pear and countless other flavors. When you have sampled and picked the ones you want, you call over a clerk and he will personally fill a bottle for you right from the steel tank. They range in price from around $ 14.50 to $ 18.00 per bottle. And if that isn’t enough– the owner will take a minute to give you some recipes on what to do with your purchase beyond taking it home to dip bread in. This little store was packed on the day I was there with the line trailing out the front door to purchase. In talking with the owner– within four years of opening– it became the largest single store retailer of olive oils in the US. He is even franchising the concept now. They also carry health and beauty products made with olive oil and an interesting collection of spices and rubs, pastas and rice and sauces and jams. Can’t make it up to Door County? No problem. Check out their website and you can order on line. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a new business venture like this that surprised me. After all– who would think that olive oil would have large enough appeal to support an entire business? But on this cool Summer’s day– Oilerie was the most happening place in town. Go figure!
