Ah yes, the best part of coming up to Door County and an O. family tradition. I was so excited to see that it was still here when I came back as an adult, because when I was little, seeing that sign meant that vacation had started and we were no longer in the Illinois land of ice cream– it was time for CUSTARD! I was so happy when it lived up to my childhood nostalgia. It’s only gotten bigger and better! It’s downhill in a really pretty pocket of trees. It’s really nice to sit outside and enjoy the view as you enjoy your scoop. Last time that I was here I of course had to splurge and get a sundae. I got a Door County sundae which is vanilla frozen custard, hot fudge, Door County cherries and pecans on top. It’s DC in a nutshell– no pun intended. The custard is nice and creamy, and the scoops are pretty big. I think this sundae was about $ 7, and that’s totally worth it. I’m so happy that this place is still around, and I’ll definitely be harassing my Wisconsinite of a girlfriend to take me here again once it opens for the season.

My favorite ice cream place in Door County is Wilson’s, but Not Licked Yet is a close second! It’s tucked down a steep hill, nestled next to a small creek. Growing up, I remember loving playing on their play ground, which is ideal for families with children. Their butter pecan ice cream is my favorite, and it’s even better sitting by the creek watching the ducks float by.

This place is on our must-visit list during each trip to Door County. The frozen custard is so good! Freshly made, creamy and delicious! The speciality sundaes are very creative, and so good, but so big… so today, I just opted for a scoop of cookie dough custard, which was the flavor of the day, in a waffle cone. The scoops are big, so one scoop is the equivalent of two from most chain establishments. The ducks and seagulls provide entertainment while you enjoy your custard! There are a ton of ice cream and custard places in Door County, but this is one of the best!

Didn’t actually get to try the custard here because the store shut down an hour and a half earlier than it said online. Which would have been fine; misunderstandings happen. But when we told the guy working about the discrepancy, he just snapped at us that«no, the right hours are posted online.» The custard might be worth it if you get there whenever they deign to be open, but given the way I was treated, I have no intention of ever finding out. Update: they changed their online hours(possibly as a conciliatory gesture after my original one-star review? I like to think so). So we went back. Pretty good custard. Not too many flavors, but they have the classics and a rotating flavor of the day. You get a fair amount(even in the baby size), and it’s reasonably priced.

Great sundae selections and areas to hangout outside in the summer. Prices are a little high, but the specialties are worth it. The chunky monkey and the Viking ship are the best we’ve had. Staff are very friendly.

This is a cute little place with very good frozen custard. I just had chocolate custard, but everyone else in my family tried one of their sundaes and we were all very pleased! The seating area by the small lake with the ducks is very nice and we enjoyed relaxing by it. This is definitely a place I would like to stop at again next time I am in the area. Prices are a bit high, but we were here on a pretty hot day and it did not discourage us from ordering some treats!

We recently stopped for dessert at Not Licked Yet Frozen Custard. The custard was very good but the cherry pie was wonderful. We got a huge piece filled with just the right tartness cherries and a crust that was perfect. I loved that we could sit by the pond and watch the ducks while we ate our dessert. The service was excellent. We will defiantly be back the next time we are in Door County.

Went there tonight and got a scoop of the flavor of the day – cookie dough – in a sugar cone. First, when your cone is presented dripping, it’s not extremely appealing to start. Second, I’m pretty sure cookie dough does not translate into a scoop of vanilla with 3 cookie dough pieces added into the top. I had to eat my cone within minutes because it was dripping that fast. My boyfriend’s turtle sundae looked superb, but everyone else’s cones seemed to come out that way. It’s been a hot day(85 degrees or so) but come on that’s far from frozen custard. I’ll stick to Michael’s or Culver’s.

I’m liking this frozen custard thing. Had it at Kopp’s & had it again here. Tasty & creamy. Must be really bad for me. The pudgy bunny is funny.

This place is too great! It’s very cute, has a ton of seating out side along fish creek. With a great playground for kids. We only had ice cream but plan to stop again and try the food.

Woohooo ice cream in Door County! Was super creamy and delicious custard, all home made and all. They had a cute looking take out area with heated lights and all which was perfect for the slightly chilly evening we had stepped in to get our share of weekly ice cream! The flavor of the day was menage-a-trois, a delectable combination of vanilla custard, chocolate sauce and chunks of chocolate fudge. Was heavenly good in my humble opinion. Do go here if you’re ever in the Door County neigborhood!

Genius sundae idea: custard + chocolate shell + cinnamon-sugar toasted almonds. I swapped the chocolate custard for vanilla to give the overall package better balance, and the result was bliss. There are many, many choices, and some of the pre-conceived sundaes are rather intriguing. Take as much time to decide as you like – this is Door County. Then enjoy your dessert on the nearby rocking chairs along with good people watching.

PROS: Nice variety of flavors, great location, extremely kid friendly CONS: limited seating options, a little slow to actually get your order There are some fun menu items to try, like a maple syrup or honey shake. Nothing we had here was stellar, but it was still good. I appreciated the downright kookiness of the place.

Great, kooky, friendly place! They have a sandy play area for kids, a nice sitting area next to a creek with Adirondack chairs, and patio area with big umbrellas to shade you from the sun. Upon our arrival, we we’re immediately offered Pup Cones for our pups. They are miniature cake cones with vanilla custard. It’s such a kind gesture that we appreciated from the young staff very much. We ordered the Troll club, soup of the day(pablano corn chowder) with a side of fries(baked shoe string fries), Door County sundae, and screamin’ banana sundae. The troll club was a nice white bread sandwich of roasted chicken breast, bacon, lettuce, and tomato. Nothing too special but was very good and satisfying. The corn chowder was very good with hearty portions of corn kernels, potato, onions, bacon, and peppers. The Door County sundae had pecan halves with tart Door County cherries, and hot fudge — awesome! The screamin’ banana sundae was made of smashed frozen bananas, it had the texture of a real custard with none of the guilt! Even though the staff is very young, they handled a large line well and were very friendly to our dogs, and that alone will keep us coming back!

Yummy! We stopped for a quick bite of custard. I had butter pecan, and my husband had the flavor of the day, some sort of raspberry flavor. It was great! I’m not sure there’s anything that could have been better about the experience or the custard so five stars it is! My only negative feedback is that the picture on the sign and super creepy and weird. Is he half man, half camel?

This was by far our 5 year olds favorite stop in Door County. Burgers and Fries. Ice Cream. Fun gnome décor, playground, feeding the ducks… what more could child want? It wasn’t too bad for the parents as well. We all know, when the kids are happy, the parents are happy… something like that! :) The burgers were good. Nice chewy bun, pepper crusted patty, normal toppings. Custard was also good, they have the usual — chocolate, vanilla, and flavor of the day. Pie as well if that is more your taste. Outdoor seating with a few indoor spots. We visited twice in the week we were in DC. The first time we visited the staff were over and above friendly. We had a conversation about our children, living in Milwaukee, and coffee. it was a welcoming start to our vacation. Make sure you tip! The eatery is larger then you think. Check out the chairs by the duck pond toward the back of the property. There is even a geocache there for those of you who are into that. We are! We will be back next year!

Let’s keep this short and(ha) sweet: we stopped by to pick up a couple pints for our evening. Went with chocolate and caramel crunch, which was advertised as salted caramel base with caramel swirl and chocolate crunch. Both flavors were very good, not tooo sweet with a rich creamy taste. But my tiniest of quibbles is that there was NOT enough chocolate crunch in the caramel crunch pint. I don’t know if we just got unlucky or it wasn’t evenly distributed. I wanted more of that textural difference, plus: chocolate. Still, I’d recommend it for a sweet treat, for sure. They also have a full food menu if you want more than just sweets. Thanks to Aimee M for the recommendation. :)

Not Licked Yet!(nah neener neener neener) Not Licked Yet! I can’t get the song«Not Dead Yet» out of my head, when I say the name of this frozen custard shop in Fish Creek, Door County. Not Licked Yet has many specialty sundae offerings, Panini that looked good, and frozen custard! We chose to spoil our dinner with the Daily Custard special, Mint-to-be-Oreo. Very good! The young employees are super polite and they yell a hearty group«Thank You!» after you leave a tip in their tip jar that lists all of the Universities they are attending. Be Cool, Stay in School! Plenty of seating and parking here, and we enjoyed taking a load off in their white rocking chairs. Not Licked Yet has a relaxing outdoor setting with lots of terraced garden, tables with umbrellas, and a play area for the kids. Ample indoor seating is available. Great for a pop-in when in Door County! Not Licked Yet!(nah neener neener neener)

I’m 23 years old and have been coming to Not Licked Yet since I was a toddler. Naturally, I have had a lot of sundaes at the place over the years, and all of them have left me convinced that it is the best place to get ice cream on the peninsula. First of all, this place is an absolute wonderland for little kids. When you’re only 3 or 4 feet tall, the Nordic gnome-themed playground(especially at night, when it’s all lit up with festive bulb lights) just seems so magical. Seriously, take your kids here at night when it’s dark– it’s the best. There are little decorative trolls poking out everywhere, the playground equipment is really fun for kids to play on, and you can even take pictures of them in one of those boards you stick your face through that(in this case) makes it look like you’re a gnome. Priceless! As for the food, the sundaes are all fantastic. Some standouts are the turtle and Door County cherry sundaes, in addition to my childhood favorite, the Chunky Monkey which features peanut butter topping and bananas arranged with a cherry to resemble a monkey’s face. You can get lunch food here like hot dogs and paninis, and they’re okay(not to mention kid-friendly), but I think the standout here is definitely the custard. The service is always great because of the passionate kids(mostly high school, I believe) working the kitchen and cash registers. When you tip them, they ring a bell in the kitchen and all yell«Thank you!» It’s cute. Not Licked is the BEST! I hope they stay there so that I can take my children there someday.
