I was very disappointed with my meal at the White Gull Inn. I had such high expectations after reading the glowing reviews. My husband and I both ordered the eggs benedict. The hollandaise was too lemony. Fifteen minutes after finishing my meal, I felt ill. Sadly, won’t be going back.

This was our second time here and it’s still delicious. Love that they do a bit of a historical piece before they boil the food and the servers are always wonderful. Joi cut up our fish to remove the bones and we are grown adults. You also get seconds if you request which not all fish boils accommodate. Wish the pie was warmed up but highly recommend!

We went for the fish boil, it was fun to watch the preparation but the food itself was not great. I didn’t expect the skin and bones on the fish and they proved too much to enjoy the fish. The fish is served with boiled potatoes, coleslaw and bread. Nothing to write home about. Best part of the meal was the excellent server and the cherry pie.

Best breakfast in Fish Creek. The stuffed cherry French toast is a must. The service is good and while you wait you can sit on the patio and start drinking coffee in summer. The last two times has been a 20 min wait during peak breakfast hours, so be prepared to relax before you eat.

We had breakfast here two days ago. The breakfast was good. I had the hash browns with eggs and the table also ordered an omelette, quiche and an order of cherry pancakes. All were tasty but I didn’t think the place was overly friendly. Our waitress was not rude but definitely seemed as if we were work for her. I expected it to be more friendly.

Pulling up, the street was lined on both sides… I was not looking forward to this wait. Got a spot in the lot… very happy so far. My friend is in a wheelchair and there was easy access for him via the side/back door. A host was ready with the door open for us. For the amount of cars outside I was happily surprised they had several empty tables and we were seated immediately. Every staff member we encountered was very pleasant and helpful. Coffee flowed freely and I was never down to a quarter cup before the refill came. Three of us ordered the Door County Cherry Stuffed French Toast with either bacon or sausage and one an American breakfast-eggs, sausage, toast, hash browns. We split a fresh cinnamon roll as an appetizer. The stuffed French toast was ridiculous. A total of 6 pieces of French toast… to make 3 sandwiches with whipped cherry cream cheese(very generous) in the middle, covered with tart cherries and powdered sugar. It was delicious even though I could only eat one of the«sandwiches». That’s what to go bags are for, right? I am already looking forward to leftovers for breakfast tomorrow. Everyone enjoyed their meals and service. There’s a little gift shop and they rent rooms and it looked like little cabins too. Overheard the reservationist say breakfast included with your stay there. Will go back when in the area for brunch at least.

Five stars for the food. Three stars for the service. Stopped here a few days ago with my family for some breakfast. Best decision that we have made in a while. I ordered the nice guy hash and loved every bite! Others at my table ordered the famous cherry stuff french toast, and I can confirm that is it incredible, I know why it is so loved among locals. My only criticism is that the server could have been friendlier, other than that this experience proved why people love this place ! I will definitely be back to take on the stuffed french toast.

We started with the shrimp skewers. It cost $ 10.50 for 4 shrimp(2 skewers total, each with two shrimp) with BBQ and a dill sauce. Thought that was a ridiculous portion for the quality and price of the appetizer. For entrees, I ordered the coq au vin and my partner ordered the pork tenderloin. Both were flavorful and the portions were good. The service was great, friendly but not intrusive. No cocktail menu, but there was a harp player… All in all, the atmosphere was nice and fitting for a cold November evening and we had a good time.

I’d call this an ordinary breakfast place with solid food. I had the corn beef hash – it was okay. The eggs I ordered were good. The specialty coffee cake was a bit dry. Portions seem generous. Nice décor, northern woods style. One great positive is breakfast until 2:30 in the afternoon.

Classic fish boil. Supposedly the first in door county. Boiling fish since 1959. Entertaining outside fish boil. Then you go inside to eat white fish, potatoes, and coslaw. Finish off with cherry pie all for $ 21 not bad.

There’s a reason the wait here is so looooong. Bar none, the best breakfast in door county. We waited an hour today, partially because there are far too many 5+ person parties to seat, and it’s a holiday weekend. We each got one of the two varieties of hash, and split a stuffed French toast, their specialty. Everything looked wonderful, was freshly prepared, and left us rubbing full tummies. The coffee was great too, and our server was fast and efficient! You may wait a while, but so worth it!

We really ate well at the White Gull Inn. At dinner, the pork tenderloin with a cherry currant chutney was delicious, as were the grilled, al dente green beans. My wife liked her fish dinner. The cherry bread pudding was certainly BFY but totally marvelous nonetheless, and the coffee was tasty. The service was friendly and skillful. We returned for breakfast, and my wife really enjoyed the cherry-stuffed French toast. I went with a ham and cheddar omelet, bacon, biscuit, and hash browns. All were delicious. The hash browns fill an 8″ plate in a rounded form, and they were cooked to perfection and then put under the broiler to crisp up the top — delectable! This was one of the tastiest breakfasts I’ve ever been served.

I know, I know, a fish boil is something for first-time visitors to Door County. You go to one and never again. Apparently, the folks at White Gull Inn didn’t get the message because the fish boil they put on is so good I come for it every time I visit Door County. They use good quality white fish and don’t overcook it. The servers debone it for you at your table. They also bring you add’l servings in addition to drinks and cherry pie a la mode.

Everything is amazing! Except my meal, of course. Everything else around me seemed simply amazing and wonderful to eat. I got the french toast, and as amazing as it looks, it tasted horrid. It was eggy(you could taste the raw egg), it was fat, and the edges had no flavor at all. The sausages where amazing, but the french toast simply wasnt that good. Disappointing seeing as it is such a good restaurant.

Came for breakfast usually a wait but got in right away. Décor is pretty cool very country cabinsh They have specials every day for breakfast also have excellent coffee cake today’s being cherry Cones out warm and is quite good. I had cherry pancakes bacon and hashed All ex cement I might suggest if you get hashed ask for a little well done. Pancakes were moist not heavy and served with door county syrup which was excellent. Bacon was good but I like s little thicker bit it was good. Good spot for breakfast will def come back

This was not my first rodeo, I mean fish boil. Years ago, with no prior knowledge that there was such a tradition, my girlfriend and I ate at Pelletier’s. When the chef threw the lit kerosene and ignited the fish fat into a huge fireball, it was an elemental shock, an unexpected thrill on par with my first cliff jump at Cave Point County Park. It was part of what hooked me on Door County. White Gull Inn is the best fish boil I have ever been to. They are doing everything right. The boil itself is outside, with a bar. Maybe it says something about the Door County tourist demographic, but I was not the only drinking Clausthaler at this backyard boil, if you know what I’m saying. The chef, Tom, explained what he was doing, and the explosion of whitefish fat lit the eager faces of all of us gathered around. This place does it right: you watch the fish boil outside, and eat in comfort inside the historic inn. Guests are served freshly boiled whitefish from an efficient and friendly buffet line, and servers attend to tables for drink and fish refills. It’s all you can eat. Let me be clear, the amount of whitefish you are able to eat will be in direct proportion to the ratio of drawn butter and tartar sauce you garnish with. My girlfriend partied too hard and got knocked into a classic Wisconsin butter coma. The whitefish was perfectly cooked, the potatoes and tartar sauce were tasty. Our server demonstrated de-boning so well I was confident and successful with my fillet. I quickly forgot her lesson and butchered the tail piece, but that’s my fault. The cherry pie was out of this world delicious It was the best fish boil I have ever eaten. No fish boil is complete without a walk to Sunset Park.

From the street, White Gull Inn looks like a collection of charming white houses, but inside are some nummy-tummy things. Namely: eggs with a side order of a cinnamon roll and cherry-stuffed french toast with cream cheese. Because White Gull is a beloved place in Door County, watch out for aggressive customers. People get SERIOUS about their french toast and cinnamon rolls here, so some will cut the waiting line and will get hostile with wait staff. The excellent service takes the edge off(for most) by simply being SO nice. As you leave here and try to digest your sugary breakfast, you should take a drive behind the inn. There are substantial multi-million dollar homes called«cottage row»(the rich are so ironic). Maybe some of them are on airbnb…
