Everybody absolutely loved their tacos and the atmosphere was really inviting and interesting too. Service was excellent and the food came out hot and fast. I’ll definitely be back. Thanks, Unilocal

Amazing! Went in on Friday night and was quickly seated at the communal table, which was comfortably spaced out. Loved the menu — about 15 ala cart out of the box tacos to choose from included Mahi Mahi(grilled or fried), shrimp, seared tuna, American, Korean BBQ, chicken, fried avocado, cauliflower, chorizo, and carne asada. We stared out with the guac(which was super fresh and delicious) and came with plenty of chips. Tacos were on point! Ordered the grilled Mahi Mahi, shrimp, and carne asada. Some of THE best tacos I’ve ever had. Flour tortillas tasted freshly made. We also ordered a side of street corn which was the perfect balance of sweet and savory, crisp yet not undercooked. Great ambiance and completely packed. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting to Folly as there is something for everyone on the menu. Service was great.

The guacamole is amazing! I tried the fish tacos, and they were lacking in flavor. Kind of expensive for the price you pay(about 4 per taco). Waitress was very attentive.

Taco boy is a great place to have a drink near the beach and a late snack I would definitely recommend trying the guacamole. Their tacos are not the best I’ve had but some of them are pretty good what makes this place is the atmosphere and how close it is to the beach.

We were sat at a table immediately upon arrival. Everything we ordered was delicious! No complaints here!

We stopped in on the Sunday before Memorial Day, and even though the streets were busy and the weather was questionable, we were seating fairly quickly and had quality service. I prefer the location downtown when it comes to décor and amount of seating, but the food quality is the same and was exactly as I had expected. Restrooms are interesting, as they are covered in magazines with the Taco Boy face placed over celebrity faces, and the sink area is filled with river rocks, causing my daughter to want to play more than wash(ewww). I would stop by again if I were visiting Folly Beach, but if a craving happens to pop up for Taco’s, I would go downtown based on location and parking.

My husband had eaten at the downtown and liked it. He told me to try the tempura avocado taco. The general vibe is nice a little teen and 20’s. We ordered nachos taco Americans, tempura shrimp, mahi mahi and tempura avocado. The nachos were ok but the tacos were not good. My daughter wouldn’t even touch her shrimp and refused to eat it. The beef was so greasy it went all the way down her arm. My avocado was hard and not ripe only two prices were tempura the rest were raw. Not impressed we will not return!

The Frozen Screwdriver is delicious. I’ve tried several tacos, which are equally amazing. The queso is also very yummy, and has a spicy kick. Taco Boy definitely a Folly favorite for our entire group every time we come to town, every May!

Fabulous. They understand tacos s here. I ordered grilled mahi and Carne asada. Muy excellente. Nice ambiance and art. The chips are having d to stop eating. Salsa fresh and not too spicy.

First of all, I know there are those Southern California types who say that SoCal tacos are the only tacos, and all other tacos suck(see: NY bagels). I am not a taco nerd, I’m not hard to please. I was very happy with my tacos from Taco Boy. The fillings were fresh and delicious, I have no complaints at all. FWIW, I was there on vacay, so I was eating tacos for lunch on a weekday, so the service was on point, and it wasn’t crowded. I bet results vary for dinner on a weekend, but you gotta expect that. I’ll leave with the thing that put Taco Boy at five stars for me — you can get individual tacos, even at lunch, so you can mix & match. I have never seen a taco spot do individual tacos, they always come two or three to an order. At least, that’s my experience, but I’m no taco maniac.

Good tacos but not earth shattering like the taco place on Sullivans is(and less expensive)

Taco boy is a very casual, laid back Mexican spot. There was a 10 – 15 min wait because there were a bunch of dirty tables that had yet to be cleaned off. Once seated, Service is a little chaotic, unorganized and slow — we waited almost 10 mins at our table before our waiter came over. We ordered tacos, they are a la carte and they range from $ 4-$ 6. We got the carne asada, grilled fish, fried mahi mahi and grilled shrimp. All of them were good, great flavor and just what we needed.

This place was really good. The guacamole was excellent and freshly made, definitely worth the price. The tacos were just as good. The unique combinations offered were very interesting. I tried the Carde Asada taco and the tempura avocado. I was a little reluctant to try the tempura avocado, but it was something unique that I wanted to try and I’m glad I did. It was delicious. When walking into the restaurant it was extremely clean. I loved it and have actually talked about going tonight for dinner!

It’s Mexican, like TexMex with a wildcard fusion added in too. For example, kimchi beef taco. I liked it. The place is really casual, not too expensive, and the food was great. Saw the previous nachos pictures and ordered those as well. They didn’t disappoint. Huge on the Guac! The food came out quickly, but since it’s a pretty chill place you might need to flag down the waiter for the check since there is no rush to get you in/out there. I also noticed that groups tend to linger about there on island time. The back patio seemed like a nice spot but a bit too cold that day for my visit(see pic) FYI: There is another Taco Boy downtown, which is similar, but a touch more hipster.

Lovely patio seating! The carnitas nachos were incredible. Yum! My pineapple Margarita was lacking something. For $ 7 I needed a little more«wow». I ordered the carnitas taco, which was fine. You get exactly what it says: meat in a shell. I would have preferred a bit more taco ingtedue. It was fine, though

Not bad, not great. My friend started with the pineapple margarita and wasn’t super impressed for a $ 7 drink. I tried it and while it wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t anything special, it didn’t have much pineapple taste. If I didn’t know that’s what it was supposed to be, I never would have guessed that by tasting it. The nachos were pretty good, lots of guacamole, beans and cheese and we got carnitas added. I got the grilled fish taco, it had a decent portion of grilled fish and I could taste the cilantro cream, which I personally really liked. I also got the Mexican corn… So, just a note on that, it’s actually more sweet than anything. I didn’t read any Unilocal descriptions before ordering and there is no description in the menu, but it’s covered in Parmesan and a bit sweet! Not bad by any means, but different than what I expected.

Fun place for tacos near the beach. We ended up getting the appetizer trio and nachos which ended up being kind of similar. Next time I would get one or the other. The guacamole was very good and limey. The chile con queso was also pretty delicious. The baja fish taco was very generously filled with plenty of fish and fillings. I preferred this taco over the grilled fish taco. My friend enjoyed the Obrero taco but noted that the tempura avocado taco tasted fishy(she’s vegetarian).

A friend had recommended this place for their tacos, of course. The taco offerings did not disappoint. They were for the most part unique combinations and flavorful. Chips with salsa, guac, and queso were good. Service was OK. The drinks were strong. Nothing exactly creative offered but you can get your standard margarita or sangria here. Did not enjoy the lettuce wraps for the tacos. They are in Bibb lettuce, which didn’t seem to jive well with the tacos because they weren’t super easy to hold and just didn’t seem to taste right. I think they’d be way better with romaine lettuce.

Went with the ladies after an afternoon boat tour, it was a Saturday and the place was packed. The place was located in Folley Beach, SC. I had ordered 2 street tacos: Carne Asada: consist of marinated flank steak with a green Chile sauce and some type of salsa cruda. Kimchi beef taco: consisted of marinated flank steak, korean bbq sauce, kimchi, sesameseeds, and cilantro. The Kimchi beef taco was the best that I tried, and was very flavorful with a hint of spiciness. I recommend ordering this taco! I Would of rated this place a 5 but service was horrible. Our waitress ignored us, didn’t refill our drinks after being very parched from spicy tacos, and never brought us things we asked for. She Only took our order and checked on us one time, but never came back. Having communication is a key, we would of respected her more if she just of communicated with us, I’ve worked in a restaurant, so I know how it can get. I Don’t rate on just the food taste and preparation, I judge on restaurant performance too. 1st impression is last impression.
