Prefect for what it is. Painkillers will cure what ails ya, the crab balls are delish, and the tuna tacos are to die food. Add in a cool beach vibe, tunes, and a nice breeze, and this earned five stars. Not haute cuisine, but awesome for what it is.

Best live music of local bands in Charleston and also the best Chicken Cheese Steak Philly sub. Guinness on tap and really great staff and service. Great surfer punk art in the bathrooms and on the walls. Surf bar folly beach may be one of the best places in the world– just sayin

This is a great little bar to come hang out any time of day. Relaxed in the afternoon, pretty energetic in the evenings. Staff is no nonsense but nice. Menu looks Ike typical bar food though they have a few creative things on there. I’d give them 5 stars if they had better beer. It’s the usual domestic suspects and maybe one or two craft brews. Meh. But really, I go for the surf movies anyway so I can stay sober if I must.

I would have probably gave the place three or four stars because the wait staff was awesome, our food was cooked properly and the french fries tasted awesome, the music was good, went to the bathroom and saw this on the ceiling, need to do more deep cleaning, started looking around and saw more problems, I know it’s a dive bar but you still have standards

This bar is awesome! We got married in Folly in November and went here after our reception with about 40+ people. They were AMAZING! Not only did they accommodate us with great service, they kept the kitchen open a little longer for the drunk people that needed food. And the food was awesome! Highly recommend this place, perfect low-key bar for a relaxing vacation spot.

Upon walking in shortly after their 4 p. m opening time to see a young lady wrestling a beer keg into it’s rightful place she explained she was cross training with another employee. The staff was as excellent and friendly as the décor and environment. Our bartender/hostess/server did a stellar job with my wife’s drink of choice, a Painkiller. The onion rings were hands down the best either of us have ever had(What IS that onion ring sauce?!?). It was delicious, huge portion size and friendly, what more could you ask for? We had a blast, definitely intend on coming again whenever the next road trip urge strikes. Our compliments from Baltimore!

Its a Folly Beach staple and you have to go! I find it to be pretty hit or miss but my overall feeling is pretty good. The food is average, but I havent been very adventurous there to be honest. The outdoor deck with the fireplace and TVs is great and they are very dog friendly so that always brings me back. Last time we were there with a large group and the service was awesome! Stop in for a dark and stormy and watch some surf videos!

Total Folly” must do” experience. Surf dudes, Cougars, cuties, boomers… everyone was having a good time at this tiny, but fun filled dive. A local foursome played classic & eclectic rock .a genuine slide guitar gave it favor… and the vibe was relaxed and sexy. Intriguing as this was, we were almost deterred by the over ten minute, nervous wait until the bar staff finally gave us eye contact! But once we were ‘in’(had a seat at the bar… forget about it if u are one deep!) we were family. The locals chatted us up, the staff treated us right. We could have easily parked our buses at those wooden bar stools for hours! Would defiantly go back. Even just to be a fly on the wall at what is truly one of the most fun places in Folly.

We checked out this spot after talking to someone at Rita’s and asked what his favorite restaurant was. We tried a bunch of wing flavors and we loved it.

This bar resembles all that is Folly Beach. This come as you are atmosphere is the perfect place to end a hard day out playing in the waves. Flip flops, dreads, and beards are the norm here. Don’t expect any fancy fruity drink, but you can get a killer«dark and stormy» or their house signature drink, a «painkiller.» I cant speak to the food as I haven’t eaten here in years, but if you’re looking for a great place to relax in a low-key environment, this is your place. The bands here are always great, too. If you’re lucky enough to be around when the house band Dangermuffin is playing, get there early to get a good spot and have fun on the dance floor!

Surf bar is one of my top spots on Folly Beach. Great pub style food(killer burger and cheese steak) and great draft beers in a fun/party environment. Or maybe its just me that brings the party wherever I go. Definitely worth your time to check this place out!

Love this place. First time today and it was my favorite place of the whole week we were in Folly Beach. The atmosphere is so fun and exactly what I want my beach environment to be like. The food was tasty and reasonably priced and the server, Annah, was so patient and sweet as we tried to decide what we wanted. The patio is smoker friendly if you’re into that but unfortunately that locked us inside… which was fine because it was fun to people watch. The bartender was friendly and boisterous… fitting for the place. A definite must for Folly Beach.

If you’re on folly go here. Awesome bartenders Great drinks Fun atmosphere Their food is really good. Check their special board. Whatever is on it is guaranteed to be yummy. Their burgers are awesome. Small menu but keeping it simple ensures that everything comes out perfect.

Awesome food and atmosphere. To be honest we almost left… There was only a few things on the menu and I had my 2 year old. But the food was so good and so was the service!

I’ve been going to Surf Bar for almost a decade now, and prior to this weekend I never knew that they served food. Yeah, about that. Surf Bar is the perfect casual beach bar. Laidback atmosphere, Christmas lights, TVs showing surf videos(a weird personal passion of mine), foosball, outdoor fireplaces, what’s not to love. Service has always been excellent. Drinks are strong. Very strong. I still haven’t come to understand that whole South Carolina splitting shots two ways thing. Watermelon and grouper(?) nachos do not constitute as a dinner, especially when split amongst four people. Maybe there’s a reason I always feel like I’m on spring break when I come to Folly. Honestly if I lived down here, Surf Bar could very easily be my Cheers, but until then it’s my happy place of a beach bar.
