I’m really surprised to read some bad reviews. We moved here from San Francisco a few months ago and found the sushi, drinks, and service to be excellent. Hope it keeps up!

Pretty much terrible. The service was horrible, the sushi sub par. I don’t care that they sip Miso soup from the bowl in Japan, if your customer asks for a spoon, you don’t tell them, «no, it’s a sippy soup». Rude. Then before we were even done with the soup and cucumber salad dish they bring at the beginning, the server snatched it away without asking if we were done. Double rude. To add further insult one our guests has an allergy to gluten, and ordered sushi; should be gluten free right? Well he found out that the crab has gluten in it and the server blamed him for not asking. How about putting it on the menu? Over all not a good experience and not good sushi.

Came in here with a party of 13 and received the worst service I have ever had at a sushi restaurant. Never picked up the menus, the dirty plates stayed on the table for so long. Ordered a bottle of wine and she did even open it till we had to ask her. Wine glasses took forever to arrive. Got a big bottle of saki and recieved zero shit glasses. Whitney gave us minimal attention and service. Will not be coming back!

Miso soup and cucumber salad to start. We had the California rolls and cashu ramen to share. Great unique place and very comfortable setting. Great service as always.

Suehiro Downtown has had lots of recent changes — — - closed due to a fire that damaged a lot of the restaurant and a change of ownership. The restaurant has reopened and I waited a bit to give them a chance to get everything together. I went there for dinner on a Tuesday night. There were only 4 other groups in the restaurant. I sat at a table first, but when I didn’t get much attention I moved to the sushi bar. The sushi chefs were very attentive and talked to me while they were preparing sushi for everyone. I ordered a rainbow roll and some individual sushi pieces. They were served in about 12 minutes. I was surprised by how small the roll and sushi pieces were. The roll was the same length, but probably 25% smaller in diameter which means less fish and rice were used to make it. The sushi pieces were probably 20% smaller too — — smaller cut of fish and less rice. As I was looking at my plate a party of 4 behind me had their food delivered: multiple sushi rolls and a variety of sushi pieces. Once their server walked away, they too commented on how small the servings were in comparison to the old Suehiro and other sushi restaurants in town. I will visit again in a few months to see if portion sizes improve. It is not a good thing to serve smaller portions than every other sushi restaurant in town and unless rectified the new owners are going to have a hard time keeping customers happy.

We came in on an empty Friday afternoon. There there’s no hostess there but there were two sushi guys behind the bar. No one greeted us until we made it clear that we needed a table. It took half an hour to get our appetizers. Our order was messed up and the fish seemed like it was 2 or 3 days old certainly not as good as Nimos sushi. People working there seem like badly trained college kids. Great location. Below average everything else.

Terrible food and an even worse owner. All 4 rolls we ordered were so bland that I complained to the owner. He vowed to make it up by giving us a free roll. He brought out a sushi roll with rare beef on it…1) my girlfriend is a pescatarian and doesn’t eat meat… he didn’t care to ask what we wanted 2) who the heck eats rare beef in a sushi roll… have you seen what warm cow blood does to cooked rice… it makes for a terrible sight 3) he brought it out after we were done eating! We just left it and went on our way. Thanks for making our experience better… in that I’ll never come back and waste my money again. Note…We paid for every roll except the one that was given to us. Moreover…the new owner isn’t just ruining the food(literally the $ 90 I spent there was a complete waste), he seems to want to turn it into a bar instead of a nice sushi restaurant. He’s got a late night egg roll menu and stays open until 2am. Bring back the old owners. Any self respecting sushi lover will avoid this place.
