Friendly’s

Have been coming here for years. Food is always good and consistent! Pretty clean ! Some of the wait staff is great and then some are very slow so overall service needs work. Other than that, great location!

My family and i love Friendly’s however today we have a bad experience. Our waitress Hilda got practically our whole order wrong. We told her no lettuce on our son’s burger, she brings it with lettuce. My daughter and husband wanted cheese fries, she brings them plain. I ordered new England clam chowder soup. I never received my soup. Dessert was even better. She screwed up my son’s and husband’s order. If it wasn’t that she gave us my Daughter’s sundae complimentary. We would have called the manager. All she kept saying was“you didn’t say that”. We know what we said and what we ordered. It’s not our fault that she couldn’t keep up with her orders. Don’t get me wrong she’s a really nice lady just needs practice writing down the CORRECT orders instead of saying that we didn’t say that.

Service was terrible with the blonde waitress. Took 45 min to get our food and another 20 when it came time for ice cream. The friendZ was a mushy mess. Then I paid and had to wait another fifteen min for my change. Don’t come here unless you have your whole afternoon to wait for half of what you ordered. My kids were so upset. We all usually love going to friendlys. Won’t be back to this location.

I’ve had my share of Friendly’s and I must say this is the best service I’ve ever had.
The waitress was friendly and there was plenty of staff walking around asking if we were okay.
Normally there’s one person doing three jobs. This wasn’t the case at this location.
They were busy and had to buss a table to seat us but the wait wasn’t long at all.

Once upon a time, there were Friendly’s restaurants all over Long Island. Today, they are few and far in between. The food here is average fare. Nothing spectacular. After all… it’s really about the ice cream.
Overall, the ice cream is pretty good. There are a large variety of flavors and combinations. However, for some reason, you can no longer get pineapple topping, nor almonds. That makes no sense for an ice cream shoppe.
The restaurant is always clean and the staff is courteous and helpful. it’s a nice place to stop in for a quick lunch and a nice dessert. Kids will definitely love it.
UPDATE:
Based on my review, the manager of this Friendly’s has informed me that the almonds/​pineapple issue is a decision made on the corporate level and not the policy of this restaurant. She has assured me that she will take the necessary measures to convey my concerns to those who make these decisions. Such concern for the wishes of loyal customers is indeed impressive… thus I am upgrading my review by one star. Hopefully those at corporate headquarters will recognize the concerns of a 40 year customer and make the necessary adjustments.

Service was great, but honestly not my type of food unfortunately. It felt a bit too fake and overdone. The food unfortunately didn’t make me feel so well. Might just be my personal preference or this site didn’t give me the best of what Friendly’s has to offer. First time having Friendly’s and it left a bad taste in my mouth. Service was amazing, food wasn’t…at all.

Ate here once shortly after they opened. Bugs in my salad wasnt my favorite protein so I haven’t been back since they opened. Forget it.

This is one of those franchises that used to be much better in the past and seems to have fallen on hard times as of late. Maybe its just this location as other locations seem to be run a bit better. The way this place is being run is a perfect example of how not to run a franchise. Each time I go there it seems to be a less enjoyable experience.
From the very long waits for food even when promptly seated, to the poor service, always seeming to be out of basic items like straws and condiments to just the over all poor décor.
The place used to be more than acceptable and a fun place to go with the family. Ever since our last few visits though I don’t think I will be frequenting here any longer.
Poor service seems to be the top of the list on the problems with this particular location. You will wait a very long time for service and then when you get the one waitress who seems to be covering half the restaurant it will be a long time before you see her again. We had a senior citizen as our waitress one time there and I have no problem with that as she was a wonderfully nice lady but she seemed way over her head here and couldn’t get any of our orders right and even admitted that she was tired and over worked and couldn’t wait to get out of there. Is that who they are hiring here now to cover half the restaurant by herself?
The food is average at best but at least there are a lot of choices to choose from. And each meal is finished off with an also average tasting ice cream selection. Its really about the kids here though as this is a family friendly restaurant with the kids menu and ice cream creations that the young ones can enjoy. But even the kids looked bored with doing the same football themed kids place mat that they have given for months now for them to do. An update to those a little more often isn’t that much to ask I don’t think.
The prices are average as well. Not overly cheap but not expensive given the amount of food you get, of course its far from dinner quality eating as it is so you are paying for what you get pretty much. Decent food at a decent price. Seniors do get a discount but they too should go for better than eating the food served here.
I think me and my family will be finding another Friendly’s to go to. This one just has gone down hill and I’m not sure if its corporate, management or some other factor that is holding this place back but its not worth sitting an hour there for what you wind up getting when there are so many other choices out there. Just too many problems going on here for my liking. They need to have a better helf staff, better kitchen staff and a more employees. A fresh update to the place wouldn’t hurt either as its showing its age and then some.
If you must have Friendly’s and you enjoy the place, try one of the other locations on Long Island that do it better. This one though, I think needs to make some major changes before it can be compared to other locations in the chain.

I’ve came to this location many times with my family. This is a great place to come to when you have kids. The food is cheap and all of the kids meals come with ice cream. The bill for my family of 4 was less than $ 50. You can’t beat that! The food is ok not anything to rave about and the service is extremely slow.

So I have to admit I didn’t come here for the ice cream, I actually wanted to eat dinner here with my mom. Well it was her idea (okay I can’t blame it all on her) but she did really want to try it once. Needless to say I think it’s her last time eating dinner here. As we walked in it was about 7pm and there weren’t many people in. More of an older crowd than younger except for a few kids running around.
Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. I ordered a chicken apple salad, and my mom ordered a burger. My mom forgot to ask for cheese so that’s her fault but she asked for the burger to be medium well and it was 100% well.
It was okay but nothing to go nuts over. It honestly looked dry. The ice cream looked delicious of course but we didn’t have that.
Salad, burger, and iced tea came out to $ 21.80.
ehhh not the worst place I have been to but not the greatest either when it comes to food.
Try it. Maybe on a busier day it might be better.
I really do want the ice cream though yumm :)

Let’s just say that thanks to Nick, I am taking the time to write this review. My sister and I ended up at this place after hunting for not eggs but (ice cream) on Easter which became a challenge. Our waiter greeted us with such a friendly tone (no pun intended). Despite that Friendly’s is known to be your classic cheap all american spot to dine in, Nick made this place seem like a crème de la crème spot. I will tell you why, his SERVICE was phenomenal. I felt that the ice cream, mozzarella sticks and fries tasted so delicious because we felt so welcomed and had a waiter who was so attentive. We were so impressed with his service that I decided to speak with his manager after paying our bill. Turns out Nick has only been there for 2 weeks! Pat yourself on the back Nick, you’re a SUPER STAR !!

This is the worst experience I have ever had, and I come to friendlys frequently. I was in a group of four people. We walked through the door and we’re received with stares from the staff as they walked passed without giving any indication that people had walked through the door. We were finally sat in a booth. Two other couples walked in behind us and were both greeted and had their drinks ordered and brought to them. Still Noone had come to greet us. After 20 minutes, our waitress finally came to us. No apology or even a pleasant greeting. She told us her name and asked if we wanted to order. Food took forever and there were only about 6 tables occupied. Very disappointed in the service of this restaurant. My advice is to drive another 2 miles and go to the friendlys on Jericho turnpike.

We ended up here after being turned away from that obnoxious hellhole known as «Walt Itgen’s.» What’s not to like about Friendly’s?
Well, we almost walked out of this place and settled for Ralph’s Ices across the street when we saw how much of a mess this place was. But instead, we headed to the back, which obviously hadn’t been swept in hours and pulled up to our sticky table after sitting in our sticky seats.
Luckily, things started to go much more smoothly when T.J. started to take care of us. We were pleasantly surprised that a server in a Friendly’s could be so, well, friendly. So that was nice. The the sundaes that came out were reliably good too.
Too bad this location can’t be supervised better. It could be one of the best locations on the Island if the cleanliness matched the friendliness here.

Disgusting food. I got some kind of honey mustard chicken wrap and it was barely edible. Waitress was incompetent, gave my the wrong side. Food is overpriced for the quality. Couldn’t even get dessert because I was sick from the food. Definitely wouldn’t recommend and I will never come back here.

Reliable place when you want to have dinner out with the kids. Good prices, good variety. Often crowded, better to come early or late to avoid waiting. Be sure to leave room for dessert!

Went back for lunch last week. Had a young waitress who sat us down. We asked for a raspberry iced tea, which she didn’t even know they had, we had to point it out for her. We ordered our appetizer & 30 mins later, STILL NO APPITIZER. Our food is almost ready by now. We get our food first and complain to the waitress and she apologized, saying that the cook accidently made FRENCH FRIES. When we asked for mozzarella sticks. We get our food and apps at the same time. Portions are small and food is shitty. Manager is SO un-​professional and we got no compensation. When we left and tried to redeem the coupon, they wouldn’t even let us do that. NEVER going back. :(

This friendlys is better than the one in mineola. However, the service is kinda on the slow side, but he was a nice person. He was friendly and sweet. The quesadillas were really tasty and my ice cream was slamming. The parking lot was spacious. There was a lady there who looked liked the manager who was constantly coughing which I did not appreciate. Thank God she wasnt my server. So overall this place was decent for a night out.

Friendly’s sure is friendly… someone random at the next table handed my table some coupons ^^ There are kids, there are families, and there are old people. I came with three other people on a Sunday morning.
Anyways, as far as diners go, Friendly’s is pretty run-​of-​the-​mill. Got a stack of two pancakes with two eggs over easy and two slices of bacon. The pancakes are huge. This is a great place to come after a long night. You want carbs? They got carbs. Bacon? Have that too. I liked that the buttermilk pancakes were slightly crispy on the outsides and soft on the inside, as opposed to being soft inside out. Can’t stand limp pancakes.
Service isn’t particularly fast, but it’s not unbearably slow, just laid back. Having lived in the city for a while, I was sooo excited to see that my very filling breakfast came out to roughly ~$ 7 before tax/​tip. So, more stars because it’s a good price to portion.

I love this friendly’s I’ve been coming here for over 3 years. I love the ice cream Section, there ice creams are never freezer burnt. I always order chicken tenders with french fries they always have a three course meal package that you can buy its really reasonable. I won’t say the service is slow but if you want Well Done food, I’ll wait!!!
